Presenting a fresh signing to the roster, NICE UP! are thrilled to announce the debut single from Nottingham's Origin One! Centred around the work of one producer, the crew is a fluid collective of MCs, vocalists and musicians, covering a variety of reggae infused genres, from hip hop & soul to dancehall, dub and jungle.

Coming in heavy with their first release for the label, they've enlisted the help of one of the UK's finest and most prolific dancehall MCs - Parly B. Having previously worked with heavyweights such as Mungo's Hifi, The Skints and Reggae Roast, Parly brings his trademark toasting to the bubbling dancehall beats of "Mi Bredrin", creating an instant dancefloor killer.

Taken from the acclaimed album "Migration", which covers a myriad of bass genres, this opening track "Positive Up" finds Poirier in a deep dubby dancehall mood. Reminiscent of classic Unity or Jammy's productions, the 80s digital vibe is updated to suit modern dancehalls and soundsystems.

Regular collaborator Face-T provides the vocal counter, once again displaying his brilliant lyricism and delivery, whilst also evoking the legendary Shinehead with a whistling solo - its been a while since we heard one of those!

Uptown, with Why You All In MY Face, he essentially picks up where their last white label, Fraxinus' flip of DJ Diamond's B-More classic Hey You Knuckle Heads left us; warping a bouncing B-more chassis with eye-quivering FX, handbrake turns, and the kind of sustained subbass tremors that make your clem fandango.
Downtown, he performs dancehall voodoo on CYPHR's Brace, screwing the ting to a slower tempo meshed with I-Octane & Bounty Killer's vocal to Double Trouble for maximum danger.

Taken from the critically acclaimed "Survival Of The Fittest" LP, Greece's Blend Mishkin and his Roots Evolution band deliver another heavy slice of modern reggae, this time featuring UK dancehall star Gappy Ranks. Deep brooding horns provide the perfect backing for Gappy to lay down his tales of sufferation and overcoming adversity to triumph. On the flip, Blend strips back the vocals and dubs up the track with added instrumentation for the haunting "Melodica Dub".

Reggae Roast has built some serious momentum recently especially after the unveiling of their brand new, hand crafted soundsystem, a series of critically acclaimed releases and sell out shows across the UK and Europe. As a result they are slowly establishing themselves as one of the top reggae outlets in the world. Clubbed To Death takes its starting point from the iconic Rob Dougan track to bring together the most influential and creative electronic and Trip Hop artists from the mid 90s.
So many of these groups are still massively relevant and revered today and still releasing albums, touring and headlining festivals (Massive Attack, Portishead, Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow, The Orb, Primal Scream, Leftfield, Underworld, Bjork and Morcheeba). No TV advertised compilation album has properly tackled this incredible era of music and we aim to deliver a very credible product with a stand out TV commercial and artwork using multi layered imagery and silhouettes.

The cream rises to the top with Barry Brown's much in demand 'Natty Dread Nah Run' on the A-side, a steppers delight with heavy duty echo unit workout pushing the limits of the desk. It's a Linval one-two combo with 'Mr Big Shot' on the A side, a thundering lightning bolt of tuneage with a bowel troubling bass line and 'Mr Collie Man' leading the flip with some cap doffing to a herbal vendor. 'Morning Love' sees Sammy Dread and Papa Tullo deliver the final knockout blow, Biff! Thwack! Bocko! The most pounding love song, the hearts a thumping.

Considered to be the heaviest tune ever recorded by Jah Thomas, Cool Profile was only available on his 1983 LP 'Dancehall Connection'. The next cut to Earl Cunningham's seminal tune of the same name, this soundsystem monster is presented here for the first time in it's full 45 glory. Interestingly enough, 'Cool Profile' depicts the 1983 oil crises in Jamaica. With billions of dollars in debt, oil supply to the Island was cut off which had a severe impact on life in Jamaica as well as on it's music industry as records weren't pressed for a good part of that year.

Remastered from the original master tapes with a seal of approval from Mr. Jah Thomas himself, this is a dance destroyer of the highest order!

On a recent visit to Jamaica we uncovered this unbelievable treasure - A huge track by the young Supercat, produced and recorded in 1984 by Jah Thomas. For reasons unknown, the tune never came out and was sitting patiently for 31 years, waiting to be discovered! Taken from the original master tapes, this is by far one of Cat's fiercest tunes. A prototype to his Sleng Teng anthem 'Trash and Ready', 'Ever Ready' is a strictly Clarks Wallabies and knits ganzie affair, with Supercat calling all posses as they roll in the dance. Cool & Deadly heavyweight mix with a riddim track by the mighty Roots Radics, this 45 is simply too essential to miss!!!

Always present when you least expect it, this time Beauchamp offers us a title where rocksteady, house and dancehall influences collide to form a formidable hymn to dance.Built around a sample of the Prince Francis's title African Skank, Bauchamp's interpretation reinterprets with respect and innovation this classic of rocksteady.
The performance of Tsunami, a Jamaican reggae/dancehall singer based in Bern who at his beginnings has been a member of the same collective as Vybez Kartel enhances the relentless groove of this track and makes it a 'must have' for any DJ who wants to make the dancefloor groove.

Das Album aus dem Jahre 1986 wurde im Originalcover neu aufgelegt! Eingespielt mit den Musikern Cleveland "Clevie" Browne & Wycliffe "Steely" Johnson, den Super Power All-Stars, und Wayne Smith - selbstverständlich mit dem Hit "Under Me Sleng Teng" aus dem Jahre 1985. Der Sleng Teng Riddim soll bei dem Versuch entstanden sein Eddie Cochrans "Somethin' Else" auf einem Casio MT-40 Keyboard zu reproduzieren und wurde zum weltweiten Erfolg - und sorgte dafür, dass der ehemalige King Tubby Schüler Prince Jammy zu King Jammy wurde und bis Anfang der 90er Jahre die Produzenten- und Soundsystem-Szene Jamaikas als absolute Nr.1 dominierte! Dieses Album gibt es auch weiterhin als Midprice CD in der 2004 Remaster-Edition mit zwei Bonus Tracks (GREWCD91).

Erstmalige Nachpressung seit der ursprünglichen LP-Vinyl Veröffentlichung in 1986 (mit leicht verändertem Artwork). "Trouble Again" war das Album das dem jamaikanischen Künstler & Deejay fürwahr zu einem kurzfristig Bekanntheitsgrad verhalf, sinnbildlich vergleichbar dem Starstatus des Riesenaffen King Kong auf dem Empire State Building, der für den bürgerlichen Dennis Anthony Thomas zum Namensgeber wurde. In 1986 aufgenommen, für den absoluten Top-Produzenten der Zeit, King Jammy, finden sich hier u.a. drei der größten King Kong Hits: "Legal" (mit dem Toasting über einen superbe Version des 'Cuss Cuss' Riddim), "Trouble Again" (über den 'Death In The Arena' Riddim) und "Mix Up" (über den 'Bangarang' Riddim). Dieses Album ist auch als CD erhältlich, mit drei Bonus Tracks und Linernotes von Chris O'Brien

The remixes take the tracks even further. Frikstailers deliver a monster digital cumbia remix. Uproot Andy comes with a crunk, bullerengue samba reggae. Subatomic Sound System brings a hypnotic dub rework. Stereotyp's remix is spooky, frantic burst of barefoot energy. El Remolon takes baile funk into trance cumbia dub territory. Sabo brings a sunny, uplifting vibe for the dance floor. Dr. Das injects noise and grit with a deep, deep bassline. Process Rebel treats coco to warm distortion and spacious reverb. Dub Gabriel offsets hard, one-drop dub and samba with political commentary on immigration. Digitaldubs drops a raw, dirty bass and rapid-fire funk programming. DJ Dolores' new project Stank, comes with a dubbed out samba reggae. Poirier goes deep on his tranced out jongo rework. Batida connects the dots between samba and kuduro.

Angolan / Portuguese Batida (aka Pedro Coquenão) returns with a new single following on from his critically acclaimed debut LP released earlier in the year.

On the A-side thumping bass lines collide head on with 1970s Angolan music legend Carlos Lamartine. One of Angola's most influential musicians Carlos Lamartine began putting music out in the late 1950s and became increasingly political during the early 1970s as Angola struggled to gain its independence. The remix came about when Coquenão was finishing his record with Portuguese producer Beat Laden who created the original loop for Pedro to build an arrangement around. Done as a tribute to 'Kota' Carlos Lamartine the remix got the seal of approval from the man himself.

The B-side features a beefed up remix of album track 'Yumbala' by London based producer A.J.Holmes & The Hackney Empire. Batida worked with an Angolan artist called Sacerdote whom challenged him to record some verses highlighting the history of Kuduro but pointing in new directions. The result was 'Yumbala' where Sacerdote sings: "Kids pick up a chair and sit down. Kuduro is taking a different route. I don´t simply sing for fun but to contribute to this new generation. Don´t open your mouth to sing in vain.'

Limited to 200 copies White label. Following the success of their co-production with Toddla, Trojan Sound System return with another limited run of 'My God', this time featuring their own dancehall version and instrumental alongside the tropical Drum and Bass monster of Toddla's. Trojan's Sound's Dancehall version was immediately licensed to Clarks Originals for their global campaign.Supported by Rob Da Bank, Ashley Beedle and MC Wrec, this proper mash up meets Dancehall.
