Rudimentary debuts for Itoa and Crypticz as they combine to producer a solid 4 track dub, techno, footwork, ghetto
inspired drum n bass 12”.

Alex Godoy (Itoa) and Jordan Parsons (Crypticz) couldn’t help but cross paths as both their musical influences encapsulate the continuous blur between Dubstep, Drum n Bass and footwork with Dub being the keystone to their musical arch.

Crypticz was sucked into the vortex of the uniquely punch sounds that Itoa had put out and was itching to find out more. At the same time he was pushing the foundations of his on sound, which has Dub.

Jordan (Crypticz) found himself wanting after toying with a few ideas which fell into line with a more dancehall sensibility. He felt the ideas he had, needed something else. He was struggling to put his finger on exactly what was missing, then... enter Itoa’s ‘French Cola and “Peng” releases.

Bingo! Jordans finger was now pointed at Alex’s (Itoa) irresistibly joyous drum patterns, and thought... “This guy”, with the happy egg face as a facebook profile, is the man to unlock this business. The pair hooked up and from there worked on the 31 Recordings “MTD” release for Doc Scott.

After their work together on that beast of a record they wanted to get back to it! Email tennis and facebook chats occurred for some time all the while passing bits and pieces back and fourth. Each time asking questions and encouraging the process for one another.

Street Drinker was the starting point with Alex leaving it open and sparse for Jordan to roll in with percussion. Dub techniques were leaned on to add a techno, dubstep feel to Valis.

An instructional dance video was the inspirational magic dust added to the already grounded baseline and obnoxious claps in “How it’s Done”.

Jordan admits watching too much Adventure Time was the catalyst for the humour concept of this piece. So... ’come ons', 'shake it' and '1,2,3,4' were sampled from various work out videos and the arrangement tidied up from there.

Dolenz is a futurist at heart. His aesthetic keeps one eye firmly on the future yet has his work informed by what has come before him.

His first appearance came via Sonic Router in 2015 with the release of the 'Hysteresis' EP. His influences stretch far and wide from MF Doom all the way through to Aldous Huxley.

As an established DJ he can be found on the airwaves via NTS, Radar Radio and Balamii. He is currently working closely with Exit Records- first a single and following that there are talks of a more expansive project on the horizon.

The first single for Exit Records 'Evesdrop' has already received early support from many electronic spectrum: Lefto, Tim Parker, Shy One, Noisia and of course dBridge. The single is as much Swizz Beatz bombast as it is eyes down, dimly lit London club.

While quite a few people are obviously still dwelling in the achievements of Munich's disco era during the 1980s, it seems that another major part of the cities partying scene travels to the same clubs every weekend. Here they are getting fed with the plasticized Beatport Tech House trax that everybody wants, drinking Vodka Red Bull until they almost pass out and walk - if they are still able to - home happily, oversaturated by non-inventive, but good selling music. So far the cliché. Fortunately, reality looks a bit different, at least for the lovers of UK Bass.

In order to make people aware of the city's flourishing developments in this scene, the grandmasters of Ruffhouse and Jahmoni Records have teamed up for a limited 10".

On the A-side, Ruffhouse's no. 1 mobster and Lacoste track suit model Top Shotta shows us his "Power Reserve". Kicking off with a straight and technoid bass drum, surrounded by delayed echos and industrial patterns, the track unfolds his way into the ear and body of the listener. Later on, the beat transforms into a half-stepped, Post-Electro hybrid, well accompanied and bedded in by the carefully selected percussions. Without a doubt a more dark approach to the recently released first Ruffhouse EP of his buddy Pastiche, that fits well with the manifest destiny of this young and delightfully fresh label.

Jahmoni's boss and sound magician BELP delivers the flip, rather an AA-Side. "Queen of Darkness" needs no further explanation. Just like in his previous works, his avant-garde take on UK Bass results in a sinister, mean kicking monster. Layered drum sounds, nastily rattling percussions and effects define the sonic signature of BELP, whose love for drone and glitch sounds is constantly shining through in every second of this track. "Queen of Darkness" is a little prequel to "Hippopotamus", which is going to be released later this year and that will furthermore define BELP's very own interpretation of Afro-Futurism and Tribal Spiritualism.

With labels like Jahmoni and Ruffhouse, people will no longer have to be afraid of Munich's musical future - it has already arrived.

Torn is a new face to the Samurai camp and our first signing from Russia. A St Petersburg native, Torn has been developing over recent years into one of the most interesting producers in the half step community with his tracks featuring heavily in the sets of many of the scenes most prominent DJ's including Homemade Weapons, Loxy, Clarity & Presha.

The Grethen EP is a gateway to the Torn sound. 'Stagnation' is the most traditional Drum and Bass of the EP with it's bouncing, grunting lurch. 'Grethen' goes down low and deep, while 'Self Reflection' is the tune bound to populate many DJ sets with it's tribal percussion. 'Insomnia' ups the intensity with frantic, restless energy to close the EP. More Torn music to come on Samurai later in 2017..

Clara! and Pearson Sound make their debut collaboration with 'Mi Cuerpo' (My Body), recorded remotely in Brussels and London in early 2020. Driven by Pearson's sharp snares, spiky FM synths and a rattling sub bassline, Clara's lyrics describe being lost in music yet in control of your own body movements; dancing alone without the gaze of others. At its midpoint the track builds to a frenzy, reaching a crescendo with the repeated chant of 'poco pudor y mucho sudor' (Don't be embarrassed, Get sweaty), and finally closing out with snippets of whispered vocals and gasps. Accompanying the main vocal mix is an extended instrumental version for the club, as well as a 3D video by Amsterdam-based Juliette Lizotte and Philip Ullman. DJ support from Joy O, Ben UFO + more

Jay Glass Dubs’ Soma (“body” in Greek) is a palimpsest. Look closely and you can find all sorts of DNA microarrays on the body’s skin – Bristol voices, Detroit electro hums, the amen break, the all-encompassing dub haze – but, as with all palimpsests, they are simultaneously one and a multitude. The body lives, its prostheses live.

Colombian label Insurgentes welcomes back one of its own masterminds to present his eagerly awaited debut album, ‘Grial’. Verraco resurfaces as a self-reliant playmaker, willing to display a braindance articulation pulled from the south.

Great Curve is a new London based label. The focus is on exploring music somewhere at the intersection of home listening and experimental club sounds, with a particular emphasis on artists that perform live or work with installations and other media.

The first release (GCR001) is by Will Alfred, showcasing a combination of modular synthesis and various live instrumentation.

Following a stellar run of recent releases including best-of-year EPs from the likes of DJ Plead and DJ JM, Nervous Horizon are back with their first record of 2020 — a unique new collaborative EP by object blue and label co-head, TSVI. Out on September 25th, ‘Hyperaesthesia’ details four sweltering new club tracks — described by the pair as “body music” — that mesh together object blue’s widescreen, experimental club tones and TSVI’s borderless percussive styles. “I was curious to see how TSVI and I could merge our sounds, whether we could supplement each other without eclipsing one another, and I'm so happy with the result”, explains object blue. “I never thought I could write with somebody else but this happened so easily. It's been a liberating process, just a pure pursuit of fun, yelling in our chairs when we dropped the beat.” Inspired by ‘ever-present conversations about machines and sentience’, the EP’s mechanical crux plays out in the narrative of the tracks too; from a sense of machines ‘waking up’ on near 8-minute opener ‘Thought Experiment’ to the frantic, processing energy of ‘Turing Machine’. The record also comes complete with a special remix by Loraine James and vinyl-only bonus track, ‘Syntax’. ‘Hyperaesthesia’ follows a fruitful 12 months for both object blue and TSVI: Following the release of her breakthrough debut EP, ‘Do You Plan To End A Siege?’, for Tobago Tracks back in 2018, object blue has since become one of dance music’s most crucial new artists. As well as releasing her third, critically acclaimed EP last summer (‘FIGURE BESIDE ME’), she’s turned in remixes for everyone from Murlo to Seb Wildblood, been invited to record a BBC R1 guest mix for Benji B and performed live at Paris Fashion Week, after composing the music for Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood SS20. object blue was also announced a SHAPE artist for 2020 earlier this year, alongside artists like Afrodeutsche, Rian Treanor, Jay Glass Dubs, Oli XL and more. TSVI’s upward trajectory shows no sign of slowing down either. From the release of his enchanting debut album ‘Inner Worlds’ in 2018, he’s since gone on to put out a series of game-changing records under his Anunaku moniker for both Nic Tasker’s AD93 label and Martyn’s 3024 imprint, including July’s ‘032’ — a joint EP written with DJ Plead. Alongside fellow co-heads Wallwork and Federico Ciampolini, he’s also overseen the rise of Nervous Horizon since the label’s inception in 2015, moulding it into of the UK’s trailblazing new-school dance labels.

Washington DC's very own Djoser steps up for 3024 with a solid EP of electronic bass mutations for the body and the soul

Founded by SHERELLE and NAINA, the highly anticipated label Hooversound has been making a lot of noise this year. Following on from their debut release from Hyroglifics and Sinistarr, they followed up in June with an another explosive EP from London’s Deft. They’re back to mark the third release on the imprint, this time with UK producer HØST delivering two moody bass driven tracks, with an official remix from Bristol legend, Om Unit.

HØST has experimented across a wide variety of genres, all laced with his uniquely dark sound. The two tracks on the EP are no doubtably the slowest BPM we’ve seen Hooversound explore, both spanning from 135-145, which shows the versatility and depth of the label whilst reflecting the broad sounds within the exciting UK bass scene.

Whilst HØST delivers the deep technical production, Hooversound brings in one of the most influential artists in electronic music, Om Unit, on the official remix of ‘Survive’. Om Unit brings the tempo up with his signature sound, flipping ‘Survive’ into a fierce 80bpm record, giving the EP an extra dose of energy.

HØST began experimenting with production around the age of 13. He went on to learn piano, trumpet and guitar which sparked his passion for electronic music production which leads to his sound today. Having had releases across Noisia’s imprints, Saturate Records and Aufect Recordings, HØST is a producer that experiments with twisted bass and melodic melancholy pads which is perfectly executed in HOO03.

Infernal Sounds welcome back the heavyweight Von D, as he delivers the gargantuan three-track Hunedoara EP, fresh off the back of his debut release on Deep Medi. Spanning way back to 004 on the label in which he made his debut on Infernal Sounds with two tracks 'Cross Of Hendaye' & 'Finis Gloriae Mundi', he drives a different style and reflection on this endeavour. The title-track 'Hunedoara' is the crowd pleaser - hitting you with the heavyweight stomping war chant, whereas both 'Akasha' and the textural 'Layers' on the B-side are melody centered and display the more playful side to the French producers repertoire. Having already received the backing from the likes of Truth, DJ Squarewave, and many other reputable artists in the scene, this is a plate that's armed for the dance or for playing at home.

A muscular tribute to the analogue innovation and body music of the 1980s. Incorporating myriad hints of new wave, soft industrial and proto-acid, Luca Duran once again demonstrates his ability to take the sounds that have influenced his work and spin their heritage into a sincere, playful and most importantly, fresh release. A worthy follow up on his recent Clone Royal Oak release on his own Akoya Circles imprint! The record opens with the punchy 'Body Mechanics', a purely physical jam loaded with vampish synths and pounding drums, offset with a loved-up vocal sample. 'Romancia Negativa' was recorded while in Bogota in late 2018, and is informed by the experimentation and abandon of DIY songwriting and band culture, while maintaining it's foot on the dancefloor. Luca Duran's razor-sharp nous for a groove is immediately reestablished on the flip with the patient, acidic 'Life Wires', a deceptively complex analogue jam that bubbles with analogue energy and left field details. The EP concludes with 'Circunavalar', an ethereal blend of Luca Duran's sublime oscillations that leads listeners and dancers gently to a conclusion to a spacious heaven of meditative bass weight. Forward ever! Sustaining the consistent support and output of subculture sound system music, Austria's eminent Dubstep label Sub Audio Records lifts the curtains on its fifth 12" vinyl release. Encapsulated devilry, 'Life Without Meaning / You Can Run Much Faster' harbours the experimental sounds of Soukah - evoking heavyweight soundscapes slathered with gratuitous amounts of black magic. The enigmatic artist follows up on recent, acclaimed releases via Rarefied and Silent Motion among others - spellbinding bass music enthusiasts once again with two masterpieces cast onto wax. Raising hell alongside, none other than the rising notables and core Sub Audio artists Kodama and Ourman return to the label for a pair of super-charged remixes - proper version business indeed. A must-have for any discerning record collector, residing in subterranean soundscapes and experimental sound system music alike.

Second album for Blakk Harbor, the Greek Berlin based act Angelos Liaros-Copola and prolific sound designer of Native Instruments (DE), delivering disrespectful broken technoise with this release. Waves of noise and advanced sound design through pattern repetition and pulsating percussive blasts. Fairly terrorizing yet hypnotic with flashes of raw electricity and feedbacks riding on thick grainy waveform textures. Broken hardware transmissions and in-depth manipulated signal processing tamed to craft filmscaping monolithic sub-techno structures.

Staying devoted to his cinematic approach in music and darker narrative storytelling "A Modern Dialect" is an edgy backlash on our modern dehumanized declining society, a harsh uncompromising "dialect" against an ever-deteriorating globalization.

Main Phase returns to Warehouse Rave with a four tracker 12" that shows the Copenhagen native take on both 2-step, grime and breaks. The release, Cool Down EP, sees the rising garagehead Main Phase explore the murky and dark areas of 2-step with direct nods to the grime scene generals as well as early rave sounds and euphoric breaks.

As a producer you allways get inspired by a diverse range of musical genres and other producers. This ¦rst episode of “Twerk Life Balance” is initiated by the producer duo “Twerking Class Heroes” and it features three other artists (Meister Lampe, DJ Marcelle - Another nice mess and Candie Hank) with quite diverse production techniques. On the A side we have two Hip Hop oriented electronic bangers from the Twerking Class Heroes and Meister Lampe. Both tracks are inspired by either traditional arabic music or belly dance music. The B Side opens with a deep downbeat and electro song from the Twerking Class Heroes and gets followed by a kucek oriented acid game track from Candie Hank. The ¦nal track is a super distorted Club Banger made for a DJ Set like one of DJ Marcelle and produced by herself.
