In what is proving to be a hectic year BTG are serving up a hectic EP from none other than the Dutch maestro TMSV with remixes from the currently prolific A.Fruit and BTG’s very own head honcho Bulu.

Ritalin Jam is just as frenetic as its name suggests and leads you on a twisted, ADHD riddled journey into cyber space. A.Fruit takes Ritalin Jam and makes it entirely her own with a deeper, darker but just as hyperactive feel.

On the B-Side we have Mountain (Wait Here) which is one of TMSV’s signature 140BPM bits that he’s known and loved for. Bulu then takes what was once a deep stepper and tears it up at 170BPM with a rolling yet broken feel.

This one comes with a warning, proceed with caution.

First a party, now a record label, Off Beat tap into a rich vein of British sonic history. Their inaugural release is an embodiment of their love of UK Bass culture and promises a productive future.

London-based Breaka has been making waves since 2018 and shows no sign of slowing down. From his releases on Desert Sound Colony's Holding Hands imprint and the impressive work of his own label, to his contributions to the rambunctious Leeds party Stretchy Dance Supply.

Breaka initiates the label's catalogue with the aptly named 'The Startup'. The track is lathered in distorted bass modulations and a warm, undulating sub that sits under a snappy UK bass groove peppered with pitched vocal samples.

On the flip, 'The Ambush' is full of jungle-inspired sound design. With its 130 bpm think-break drums, drifting birdsong samples and snarling 808s, the track is reminiscent of early Good Looking Records 12"s.

Limited Edition 2xLPTwenty years is a long time. When XL Recordings released The 5th Chapter in 1995, the world was a very different place. Tupac Shakur was still alive, America was yet to elect a black president and the internet was just something you’d read about. Ecstasy, jungle and hardcore were shaping club culture in the UK and defining the way that a generation of youth moved, sounded and looked. The government had just passed the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act in a bid to kill off free parties, the tabloids doggedly printed page after page on the sins of raving, while the soundsystems of Britain rumbled hard underground. Two decades later and our world is unrecognisable. Kids MC off phones at the back of buses, artists collaborate without ever meeting and ecstasy came, went and came again. But one thing has always remained defiantly present – the underground. XL may have spread its antennae far and wide but at its core its DNA is made up of weird, outsider, two-fingers-up electronic records that crawl out of the concrete and onto wax. XL began as a label by selling 12”s to rave DJs, with the best releases pressed onto an annual compilation. The last in the series dropped in 1995 as the label widened its scope. Twenty years on and now is the time to reconnect with the genesis of XL. XL Chapter VI is a vinyl-focused release that wholly embraces the chosen audio format of the decade – all artists on the compilation will be releasing club-ready 12” EPs on XL, a throwback to the dancefloor artillery attitudes that were cultivated at the turn of the 90s. The Chapters provided a regular platform for artists concerned with reshaping the underground and consequently, culture. Think of Liquid’s “Sweet Harmony”, “Everybody In The Place” by The Prodigy or “DJs Take Control” by SL2. These are names and songs that led a new wave of dance music. Fast forward far into a different millennium and those names have been replaced by a different crew forging a path into new futures. Zomby, Powell, Kaytranada, Novelist, MssingNo, GILA, Homepark, Hugo Massien, rLr, Mumdance, Novelist and Special Request are the artists that are endeavouring to shape not just a way of dancing, but a way of thinking. This part of the story may feature different production techniques and new aesthetics to the last instalment but its spirit remains totally the same. It's a celebrated tenet of dance music that it must look back to move forward, so the snaky acid basslines, brutally sparse beats and the synth melodies that soundtrack the post-club early hours, are all still there. Electronic music is more than listening to records. Our appetite for lowly lit basements packed with people and equipped big soundsystems is endless. This collection is a celebration of that primalism, an uncompromising look at the very best of the world’s underground – a journey through the clubs, the cities and the culture. The story continues.

While confined to his remote studio by the global pandemic, Sam KDC delivered a follow up to his debut LP for Horo with 4 malicious Techno subversions. Continuing on from the addition of breakbeats on the Omen Rising LP, further exploration with shards of breakbeats being woven into his bleak constructs continues on all tracks here. A Mutiny In Monochrome side steps into new rhythmic zones once again defying uniform categorisation.

NHS400 sees the celebration of Hospital Records' 400th release since the opening of its doors back in 1996. It's no surprise that such a huge
milestone is supported by an impeccable selection of tracks with
Unique collaborations that span across the Hospital family.

Scuffed Recordings line up their second vinyl sampler, featuring four heavy-hitting club tracks spanning the last year of the label’s output. The release sees tracks from Dubrunner, Heritage, Stones Taro, and Joe Craven pressed to vinyl for the first time, in a limited run of white labels.

Kicking off the release is Dubrunner’s ‘Zoya’s Trip’, originally released in December 2019 on the Scuffed Presents 003 release. Zoya’s Trip has become one of the most popular tracks in the Scuffed catalogue, spending six months in Beatport’s Leftfield House & Techno top 10, and seeing DJ support from the likes of Anja Schneider, Moxie, and Oneman.

Up next is ‘The Revelation’ from Brighton-based duo Heritage, taken from their EP of the same name. With its bass-heavy, breaks-driven beat, The Revelation picked up plays on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Boiler Room, and saw coverage in Mixmag and DJ Mag.

On the B-side Scuffed veteran Stones Taro steps up with the weighty ‘To Rave’. As one of the most long-standing members of the label’s roster, Kyoto-based Stones Taro has become a firm fan favourite with his idiosyncratic take on UK rave music.

Closing out the release is Joe Craven’s ‘Staring At Your Feet Or Mine’, a percussive UK techno stepper originally taken from the Bristol-based producer’s debut release.

Mutant jungle forms, hazy glitch experiments and trance inducing downtempo collide with sharp percussion and dense low end on this latest Alter 12'. Helm's recent 'World In Action' EP for The Trilogy Tapes is reworked by a whole host of favourites including Laurel Halo and Parris who offer up two distinctly different takes on 'Blue Scene'. No Symbols boss Beneath turns his hand to title track 'World in Action' with that typically murky, deconstructed club aesthetic whilst Parisian mainstay Low Jack gets deep on the A2, his five and a half minute version of 'Candy' sounding like a cross between Nuno Canavarro and Whitehouse. Delivering what might well be the records most subdued moment, Brussels' Sky H1 slows 'After Dark' way way down with some barely there auto-tuned vocals helping to bring things into the fold.'

A black hole full of early UK Hardcore intensity, the minimalism of MF Doom's beatmaking and the imaginative dancehall productions of Steely & Clevie.

Today Rozzma announces the ‘Khatar Sayeb’ EP, the artist’s first release for XL Recordings. He kicks off the EP release with ‘Hout’, a track that displays Rozzma’s knack for combining tribal sounds and contemporary urban/street music with a sharp, idiosyncratic flair.

Rozzma is an Egyptian sound artist inspired by the era where sound preceded music – he finds inspiration in the similarities between the wilderness of prehistoric times and modern-day chaos. Having already performed his particular strain of music across the world and at festivals like Sonar and Unsound, Rozzma releases ‘Hout’ into the digital world with an animated video created by the artist’s close friend Mahmoud Shiha.

“Hout is a celebration of beating the odds,” says Rozzma. “It’s about a specific state of mind where one finds comfort in the most extreme and unfortunate circumstances to beat the odds that one could instead fear.”

The EP’s title ‘Khatar Sayeb’ means 'loose danger’. “The release challenges the idea that danger and fear are uncontrollable circumstances,” explains Rozzma. “We cannot fully diminish fear or danger. We can only condition ourselves to believe that safety exists during the absence of fear. It is however more dangerous to deny the uncertainty of danger itself. Danger is a very broad state with infinite circumstances. But it is also infinitely uncertain and mainly linked to luck. We do not control our luck; good or bad. And it is solely luck that dictates danger and safety. It is for that reason that one’s best chances may be to condition themselves to find comfort in danger. Loose danger to be specific.”

Rozzma’s world is one of status quos being challenged, whether that be the real world, the historical world or specifically in the world of music. Rozzma won’t let you settle with what you believe. Everything deserves to be challenged.

Staggering volley of hyper junglist killers from Sophia Loizou on a new EP of pressurized subs, hoover and percolated vocals taking us somewhere between Lee Gamble's classic Diversions, Metalheadz Blue Note Sessions and some forward Arca x EVOL collusion. TIPPED!!!

Sophia's first release since the much acclaimed Singulacra (Kathexis, 2016), Irregular Territories provides a definitive example of Loizou's sound as it firmly asserts her music in a rarified hauntological rave headspace that meticulously explores an exploded deconstructionist style that she's developed since her 2014 debut Chrysalis.

With one foot in late '90s halcyon daze, and another toeing the future, Sophia combines a lust for the ruffneck with a sharp mind for complex structural integrity and inventive aesthetic. Synching fragmented beats with human gasps, choral synths and richly ephemeral textures, she bridges temporalities and dimensions in a way that recalls an auditory DeepDream composite formed from millions of eyes-shut moments at Metalheadz sessions.

Album opener Loop of Perception quite literally takes off like a jet engine in the rave, while Memories of Angels conjures and sustains a lump-in-throat suspense through unresolved pads and hide 'n seek breakbeat edits, before it all comes together, gelled by wide, pressurized subs in Shadow Box.

The brief vignette of hoover and percolated vocal motifs in Frozen Dust opens up the B-side like some Arca and EVOL collusion, and The Interior Life of Another feels like a jungle inception of 4Hero's Parallel Universe, leaving the poignant Morphogenesis to sum up the metaphysical flux of her sound in febrile detail

This futuristic proto Drum & Bass was previously unavailable on Vinyl this was a single sided Dubplate from 1993 by the great DJ Tango (RIP). The master is from DAT Tape remastered by Subvert Central Mastering.

Hessle Audio welcome @laksauk to the label with three tracks of rowdy and forward-thinking dance music, following his last release on Timedance in September.

On the A-side, ‘Fire Kit’ sees the London-based producer and DJ approaching his sound from a different direction, with dancehall infused percussion offset by enveloping layers of sub-bass warmth at 95bpm. The B side jacks up the tempo with a raucous energy as the temperature drops to below freezing. Basslines rumble in ‘Belly Brocka’ and ‘T’s Tent’ like an approaching storm and snares lash through the mix like ice picks, with the broken rhythmic energy driving the dance forward in 2021 and beyond.

Running the club night and monthly NTS show ‘re:lax’ with re:ni, Laksa has been consistently pushing bass mutations since his early EPs on Beneath’s Mistry label. A Bristol bass bobbler at heart, his hybrid sound has found a home on many respected labels such as Timedance, Ilian Tape and Whities, cementing his place amongst the latest UK talent.

Parallel Minds continues its mission to bring compelling electronic music from Toronto to the world with its sophomore release, a 4-track split EP between label co-founders (and long time friends/roommates) Yohei S and Daniel 58. With this release, Yohei and Daniel sought to create club music that truly represents what they'd want to hear in the club, both as DJs and clubbers.

On the A side, Daniel refines his penchant for wiggly breaks and syncopated rhythms with two uptempo moody slammers. On the flip, Yohei turns over two tracks combining the use of new production tools with old tech house and Miami bass influences.
