‘Medieval Femme’, Fatima Al Qadiri’s new ten track suite inspired by the classical poems of Arab women, invokes a daydream through the metaphor of an Islamic garden, at the border between depression and desire, where the present temporarily dissolves, leaving only past and future. Mixing neon drones and the faint outlines of Arabesque melody, ‘Medieval Femme’ reveals a fully-realised, dreamlike setting, shaded with colour and subtle friction. Conveying a thematic state of melancholic longing, Fatima seeks to transport the listener to a place of reverie and desolation, to question the line between two seemingly opposite states and rejoice in celestial sorrow. ‘Medieval Femme’ takes instrumentation from music of the Middle Ages, recast in a futuristic setting; soft-synth lutes, organs and pipes reverberate in space while gauzy pulses ripple in response. Fatima's vocals of repeated, mantra-like phrases are sometimes pitched and altered, drawing out increasingly intense peaks, angelic choruses and yearning incantations. On ‘Tasakuba’, Kaltham Jassim’s recitation of a couplet from the 7th century poet Al-Khansa', the sorrow of her words are given a turbulent, hallucinatory setting, before the album resolves on the final song, the limpid, airy ‘Zandaq’.

In 2019 Lapsus were extremely honoured to present the only album to date from IDM duo Abfahrt Hinwil, released for the first time on vinyl. Abfahrt Hinwil is formed by two good friends Martin Haidinger and Chris Cunningham, who as well as collaborating on musical projects were also responsible for the now defunct Toytronic label.
Today, Lapsus welcomes back Martin Haidinger AKA Gimmik, the pseudonym under which Haidinger has been releasing intricate and exquisite electronic music since the late 1990s. The Austrian producer's album 'Slow Motion Process' is his best-known work to date and was released in 2001 on the Worm Interference label. It’s sound is very reminiscent of Abfahrt Hinwil’s album 'Links Berge Recht Seen': combining elements of subtle braindance, glitch-tinged electronic music, floating between analogue and digital; exceptional IDM that still sounds as contemporary as when it was first released.
Lapsus Records celebrates the 20th anniversary of 'Slow Motion Process' with the release of a deluxe edition that includes artwork updated and designed by Martin himself, as well as the unreleased track 'Typologic (1999)' -only available on the vinyl version.

Car Culture presents Dead Rock: smooth sounds for end times.
Written over the course of a decade, Dead Rock is a tender ten-tracker of electroacoustic ego dissolution, consciously uncoupling with planetary regret. Suspended tones and frictionless glide for long drives, delayed flights and carbon credits.
The record features three collaborations with Great Skin (Steven Phillips-Horst), as well as instrumentation from Maxime Robillard and Dan Bodan. Their contributions help sketch open road songs for the lonesome, crowded self.

One of Italy's brightest new talents, Clap! Clap! (aka Cristiano Crisci) returns with his second album for Black Acre, following on from his colorful breakthrough debut LP 'Tayi Bebba'. Bringing together disparate inspirations and styles onto the dance-floor of his mind, 'A Thousand Skies' sees Clap! Clap! create a high energy and inventive kaleidoscopic fusion of sound - drawing on the traditional global rhythms of the old world, Hip Hop, Footwork, UK Bass and House. * The new album follows Clap! Clap!'s debut album, 2014's 'Tayi Bebba', which sound-tracked the tour of an imaginary island. 'A Thousand Skies' is a mix of Crisci's career to date combining samples and live instrumentation from Clap! Clap! and collaborators such as South African folk singer Bongeziwe Mabandla, John Wizards, and OY. As with his debut, the album is anchored by a story — this time of a young girl's journey through the stars — which completes the work.
* Clap! Clap!'s unique blend of global dance and timeless sounds draws from nature, traditional music, field recordings and the electronic savvy of modern centres like Chicago and London. At its core is the inspiration of everyday life, what Crisci calls 'the search for new flavours.'* The now internationally acclaimed producer and performer started his career age 13 in the mid-1990s as a rapper, before picking up the saxophone and performing both jazz standards and jazz/punk fusion with his band Trio Cane. Now, as Clap! Clap!, he's taking his energetic live shows across Europe and Japan. Following the release of his debut album in 2013, has found a fan in Paul Simon who told Rolling Stone the LP is 'a masterpiece. He makes music sound new and old at the same time'. This led to Crisci to collaborate on the production for this years Number 1 Paul Simon album 'Stranger to Stranger'.* With a passion for history and the sounds that surround us, Clap! Clap! is a unique electronic artist capable of both channeling the energy of the moment and the intricacies of where we come from to create music that can soundtrack where we're going.

A meditation on the current political climate in the United States, “Raise” sits somewhere between 90s techno, NY house, and the hybridized warehouse bangers of the future. Urgent vocals call out to “raise your voice and speak” while hard-hitting drums, booming bass, and an elastic acid line coincide to illustrate the paramount importance of addressing societal complexities and working to enact tangible change. Plus it bangs.
“Anxiety” takes on an ever- present aspect of modern life. With distressed-yet-proud vocals, crunchy drums, icy synth stabs, and swinging hats, this track fuses Chicago and NY house influences into a claustrophobic yet contagious anthem. Simply put, “Anxiety” captures a paradoxical feeling that is all too familiar in 2019.

The sound of optimism in the midst of battle. A bold, impassioned cry – railing against the forces of greed at their depth of their depravity. A statement of Socialist intent and rejection of all musical conformity. 20th Century Music - as there has been no 21st. The story hasn't ended and shows no sign of doing so. Beauty is truth, truth beauty said Keats - and all you need to know. No illusion. No lies. The clarity of identity. The teaming of Blackness and Neurodiversity and the manifold combination to be found within. Matt Lord and dego lead us away from avarice and onwards to Joy. Better than pleasure.

"The latest release on Textasy's Berlin-based imprint further mines the interface between electro and jungle. DJ DR-660's EP is, as the name suggests, dedicated to carnal pleasures, whether it's cleverly flipping a familiar spoken word sample into speedy bass-heavy beats and slow jam smoothness on 'Talk 2 Me (Consent)' or combining Miami bass style lewdness and rolling breaks on 'Fuk Me From The Back (Da Bomb Edit)' The latter is especially good, fluidly alternating between rhythms and hip hop samples in a way that will excite dancefloors. Elsewhere, 'Rhodes Rec' has the kind of smokey keys you could expect in an ambient d&b number, but riding speedy juke/ghettotech drums and another rude vocal. The whole EP is fire. 9/10' - DJ MAG (words by Ben Murphy)

Main Phase returns for a second full-length EP on Shall Not Fade's hugely successful sublabel, the bass-oriented Time Is Now. The Copenhagen native is fresh from an appearance on Danish leftfield label Petrola 80 and can otherwise be found heading ATW records with another Time Is Now regular, Interplanetary Criminal. He serves up a tasting menu of the most quintessential sounds in UKG across Buss It EP.
The title track is understated, sparse but tense using sparing Ragga vox that build to a crescendo, wobbling over into "Our Style" - expect space age FX drawn out over mutant inflections in another textbook eyes down cut. Cheeky bassline garage energy is brought in "Creepin", while teasing breaks and dirty south hip-hop in the vocals.
Looking to the infamous early years of garage on the B-side, "Freaky" channels those classic Ghost releases in its sub-heavy intent, spicy snare and catchy vocal hooks. The EP is closed out with the expansive, gut-wrenching wobbles of "Misdemeanour", accentuated with a highly intricate two-step rhythm.

We are excited to welcome young composer Noémi Büchi to the Light of Other Days roster.
Her debut Ep «Matière» is the result of an extensive study with a modular synthesizer as her instrument of choice mixed with field recordings of sounds and noises surrounding her every day life . Apart from being a student of Electroacoustic Composition and listening to tons of music, Noémi finds most of her inspiration in long nature walks through nearby forests and foggy hills situated close to her bedroom studio.
With her music she leads the listener safely through deep paths of complex rhythms and otherworldly sounds. Her awareness of timbre, nuance and harmonic diversity are constantly matched with her ability to produce fresh and revealing arrangements.
«Matière» is an exciting excerpt from the works and life of a very talented young artist with a bright future ahead.

This is a big release for Tectonic as label boss Pinch combines forces with Kahn to produce two killer rhythm tracks that meld deepness with futuristic dancehall powers. Normally this would be plenty to get excited about anyway - but if you then add the vocal talents of Killa P, Irah & Long Range - aka ‘Killa’s Army’ - there is even more reason! Dubstep meets grime meets dancehall, while Bristol meets Brixton.
All three MCs in Killa’s Army have their own, very distinctive but complimentary styles, bringing a hard, uncompromising vocal delivery to match Pinch & Kahn’s tough beats.
Long Range opens the track and sets pace, his rapid, agile lyrical flow bouncing off the distorted thumping of a darkside 142bpm dancehall-flavoured rhythm. Killa P unleashes the chorus with full force, then setting up the next verse. Irah drops it an octave and holds the mood with his unique tone and delivery. The track pulls back then for a moment, like a filmic interlude, before the General himself, Killa P comes in to finish off anyone who might try test, like an end of level boss. ‘Crossing The Line’ will be rattling out of speakers for many years to come, no doubt!
Flip the vinyl over and you’ll find another, instrumental track, from Pinch & Kahn. ‘Send Out’ is a dubstep banger that holds a deep mood whilst pushing the energy levels through the roof. A rhythm track that has been pulled up, wheeled; set dance floors ablaze with it’s almost heavy-metal levels of energy. An early version of ‘Send Out’ originally appeared as an exclusive track on Kahn & Neek’s Fabriclive mix but is now available properly for the first time.

Glasgow based Infinite Wisdom collect works from 5 Artists on the forthcoming cassette and digital release ‘A Thousand Promo Shotz Could Never Compare!’. Working in solace, free from mutual influence but drawing upon the same psychic energies coursing through the magick ley lines of Northern Britain. Ten Years Lost, Sarah Bates, World Crime League, Michael Mann & Fat Rab produce a total of 14 tracks of smudged electronic melancholy; a selection of Ambient, House & Boogie cuts reminiscent of Washington's PPU or Vancouver's now expired 1080p imprint but produced under the thick grey skies of Scotland, Preston & Manchester, power by yet thicker blooms of weedsmoke and lukewarm cups of tea.

Four brand new mind melters from the creative and imaginative Alphonse. Back on Hypercolour, following 2018’s ‘Better Weather’ single, the British beat scientist pulls together more future sounds on ‘The Dark Horse’ EP.
Always spacey and dubwise in his creations, Alphonse continues a run of releases that have taken in entries for Klasse Wrecks, Black Orpheus and Emotional Especial. Breakbeats and rave tropes fly past in a blizzard of hedonistic sounds and distinctly UK flavours.

Tape
Los Angeles native Sha Sha Kimbo undeniably lives for the rave. As exemplified through her every intentional move as a producer, DJ, promoter, radio host and label owner, Sha Sha radiates an unwavering love for amplifying, nurturing and supporting the culture of underground electronic music and the community that surrounds it, with her forthcoming release absolutely no exception to this.
Set for release as a digital download and limited edition cassette tape on August 13, the LA rave staple is happy to announce her debut EP on Evar Records, Total Chaos. A brilliant testament to the cathartic importance of staying up late and getting lost in a buzzing crowd of kindred spirits, Total Chaos harnesses the universal experience of having pent-up energy into massive, angst-ridden breakbeat anthems. Over six tracks, Sha Sha channels the hair-raising spirit of '90s rave along with her formative experiences with DMZ-via-Low End Theory dubstep and punk rock. Finding her place within LA's bass music, house, techno and rave scenes while defying easy categorization, Sha Sha personifies the no-rules electronic music ethos behind John Frusciante and Aura T-09's Evar Records. To supplement Total Chaos' three originals, LYZZA, Machine Girl and LCY provide three raw remixes highlighting various aspects of Sha Sha Kimbo's renegade rave spirit.
Drawing from the Los Angeles punk rock and '90s rave music that soundtracked her youth, Total Chaos personifies how she grew up on the dance floor, showcasing Sha Sha's tried and true ability to express rich, nuanced emotions through tracks that, first and foremost, can level a warehouse party. Kicking off the vibe on July 30, the EP's lead single "Save The World" is a perfect representation of this, with the jump-up rave cut employing a megaton breakbeat and sickly-sweet vocal samples over simmering base of dark, UK-influenced atmospherics. From the late night energy of the title track to the euphoric, dawn-breaking feel of "Limited Perfect," Total Chaos offers the refuge of a robust dance floor with the warm reassurance to be one with the universe.
Rounding out Total Chaos EP are three remixes that amicably and serendipitously support Sha Sha Kimbo's visionary aim to both explore the unknown and bring people together along the way. Brazilian-born, Amsterdam-based powerhouse LYZZA adds a full verse and a nest of serrated rhythms to her version of "Total Chaos," while New York's Machine Girl applies their trademark punk electronics approach to "Save The World." Meanwhile, Bristol's own LCY hollows out "Limited Perfect" into a haunting amalgam of post-punk minimalism and low-frequency pressure. A study of the opposing light and dark energies of underground dance music, Total Chaos presents a breakbeat-heavy vortex, sure to awaken everyone's inner raver.

New 2x12" on Ear Clip Series.
E.N.M. steht fur Endlich Normale Menschen (E.N.M. stands for finally normal people, editor's note). This double opus, compiled by Low Bat, can be considered as a collection of friendships and encounters, where phlegmatism and melomania are intertwined. It includes tracks by F. Æmbient or Vamilienfa†er, two sheet metal artists from the Berlin experimental scene with their respective labels, Kashual Plastik and Bohemian Drips, as well as a track by Dame Area, a Barcelona duo that Low Bat booked during their 4 years of Berlin penitence.
The nine tracks oscillate between two main lines. The first record offers to discover a palette of more introspective feelings, where twilight layers cross broken rhythms and almost acidic progressions. The second, on the other hand, allows one to step by step to break away from this approach and look at introspection in a different way, alternating between unbridled joy (4K - Schabernak) and consistent melancholy (3H by Blume Attempt).

Following the recent collaborative SERWED II and Square Fauna albums on West Mineral Ltd. and Firecracker Recordings respectively, Flaty is back on his own ANWO RECORDS with an album titled RAILZ. A year in the making, it's a product of solitary contemplative pursuit, an exploration of a metaspace where the varied worlds inherent to Flaty's artistic sensibility coexist, blend and collide true to the original kinship between electro and hip-hop. The altered footwork and fine-grained dubstep sonic structures, the freeform soundscapes and refracted beats, the consistently heavy bass and eventful razor-sharp high frequencies of the album are all bred, built, mixed and mastered single-handedly by Flaty who has also designed all the artwork and packaging. In comparison with the artist's previous productions, the tone is colder, the approach more detached, while the substance is no less personal and the experience neither less diverse nor less intense. The artistic, cultural and technological styles and eras of the last half-century fuse and productively dissolve in the utopian interferences of the LP. Expect RAILZ to be presented as the soundtrack to a forthcoming series of ANWO STUDIO collaborative audiovisual live performances.

Hi Tek Sounds is the new label from East Man (AKA Basic Rhythm) set up after his debut album for Planet Mu 'Red, White & Zero'. The first release on Hi Tek Sounds is the first in a series of instrumental EP's from East Man, entitled Stop Flapping Your Gums, with the aim of exploring the deeper, instrumental side of the Hi Tek sound. The first two tracks on the EP, 'Twilight' and 'Future Tek', are sharp and steely, with angular rhythms. A skeletal frame work of kick drums, hard snares, sub bass stabs and brief synth splashes. Produced around the same time as the album on Planet Mu you may have heard them in East Man sets on Rinse FM or NTS, or his mixes for Resident Advisor and RedBull Radio. The B side opens with 'Nose Bleed', an up tempo onslaught of distorted kick drums and sub bass with metallic stabs and an emotive synth line. The closing track 'Mash Head' is a slower, more dub driven affair. Taking things down a notch for the head nodders.
