Edvard Graham Lewis - All Under

'All Under', the companion release to 'All Over' compiles soundtracks to films, installations and a self penned short story. This is familiar terrain for Lewis who, along with Bruce Gilbert produced the early interactive audio-visual installation 'MZUI' at London's Waterloo Gallery in 1981. Since this period Lewis as been involved in countless soundtracks to all manner of cultural artefacts. The haunting score to Gunilla Leander's 2003 short film 'All Under' was improvised in real time with a sampler and FX processing and recorded on to mini disc. The results are a viscous ambience of swirls, feedback and distortion. This material was then adapted for an immersive 3 screen installation of the same visual material which features combinations of 6 nude bodies (4 men, 2 women) fighting and wrestling, filmed underwater

Federico Albanese - The Houseboat And The Moon Reworked

Albanese's compositions are airy and cinematic, blending classical music, electronics and psychedelia. Federico started studying piano and clarinet as a child before becoming fascinated by rock music. As a teenager he studied bass and became a self-taught guitarist and soon became one of the leading figures of Milan's underground scene, performing in several bands. Influenced by black music, folk, electronic, modern and contemporary classical music his skills as a composer soon emerged. In February 2014, Federico Albanese released his debut album entitled ""THE HOUSEBOAT AND THE MOON"" on Denovali Records. He recorded all of the piano parts with a 1969 German tape recorder, the Uher Royal Deluxe, which allowed him to catch all of the tiny hidden shades, the imperfections, the noises of the piano and its surrounding space. Federico melted this rarefied sound with electronics, live recordings, strings, and homemade instruments. The result was a combination of contrasts and colors with a variety of atmospheres that wonderfully represented Federico's musical universe. The idea to release an EP with reworks of songs from ""The Houseboat and the Moon"" took shape in Federico's mind already while he was recording the album. He was fascinated by the idea of re-exploring the pieces, to put them in a different context, to give them to artists he loves and to see what would emerge from this. The result is a striking compilation of four reworks by Albanese's fellow labelmates JOHN LEMKE, FRANZ KIRMANN of PIANO INTERRUPTED, SAFFRONKEIRA as well as by subliminal techno masterminds CASSEGRAIN, exploring a wide range of the spectrum of electronic music. ""Through Denovali I had the chance to discover lots of very good artists and producers, with whom I thought it would have been great to collaborate." It's been an honor to collaborate with all these great artists." Vinyl: thick sleeves + thick printed inner sleeves, 180g vinyl, different vinyl colours, free download.

Call it what you will, this vicious industrial terror for when the dance-floor turns ugly sees Maoupa going a little further in the experimentation, giving sex-appeal to discomfort through these four oxidized cuts.

The 1st EP by Moon Zero (London-based Tim Garratt) 'TOMBS' is, especially for a debut, a bold and confident musical statement, which reimagines the possibilities of processed organ and vocal sounds in a live context. The opener 'Dalyan' builds from slowly wavering layers of sound into a crumbling, decaying wall of fuzzed-out, peaking noise, which in turn builds again into ever-moving blocks of chopped loops and feedback, absorbing the listener completely into Moon Zero's musical space. A remarkable listen.

Petrels - The Silver Chimney Club / Wat Tyler

Ambient/ Electro/ Experimental.. For fans of Tim Hecker, Fennesz, Hans-Joachim Roedelius. "The Silver Chimney Club / Wat Tyler comprises two long form tracks written between between ""Onkalo"" and the latest Petrels album ""Mima"". Originally released for a short while in digital format they're now presented here in re-mastered form with new artwork for this release. Asked about the background of the two tracks, Petrels' Oliver Barrett comments: ""The Silver Chimney Club was written to mark the death of my grandfather, Ernest Barrett, who passed away at the end of last year. A civil engineer during his working life, The Silver Chimney Club was the name of the name of a group formed of fellow work colleagues who would meet up on a semi-regular basis - I suspect more for social than professional reasons. As a tribute I'm not sure what he would have made of it but I wanted to create something that combined the industry he was a part of with his love of music that was passed on down to me. My grandfather was a socialist and Labour supporter (by which I mean the original post-war, pre-Blair party) - another thing I inherited from him, and which ties with the second piece on this release. Wat Tyler is named after the leader of the Peasants' Revolt in England in 1381. Ostensibly a revolt against the poll tax, the movement was built on an undercurrent of a desire for social change and a demand for an end to the stiflingly limiting social structures of the time. Initially successful, the rebellion was abruptly cut short when Wat Tyler was murdered by the Mayor of London after Tyler supposedly insulted the young kind of England, Richard II during a parley. Over six centuries on, a lot less has changed in the world than those involved in the Peasants' Revolt might have hoped." Since releasing his debut ""Haeligewielle"" in 2011, Petrels has toured across Europe and shared a stage with the likes of Tim Hecker, FIRE!, Nate Young (Wolf Eyes), Trouble Books, Fennesz, Nadja, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster). Having also collaborated with and provided remixes for artists as varied as Duane Pitre, Brassica, Talvihorros and Max Cooper, Petrels' output is proving to be thrillingly eclectic and unpredictable. CDdigipak / Vinyl: thick covers + thick printed inner sleeves, 180g vinyl, different vinyl colours, free download.

'RIVEN' by ULLI BOMANS comes straight from the heart of SHITKATAPULT, both personally and musically. As Schieres and Shrubbn!! (with T.Raumschmiere), ULLI BOMANS has been releasing uncompromising electronic music since the day the Berlin Label was founded. But BOMANS' main work is actually as a visual artist in Hamburg (and Bremen), which is also how the cover of RIVEN originated - an illustration of his work 'MISSING SHIPS' from his last exhibition ('SPOILPARK') in Bremen. His work consists mostly of large-scale collages, which are aptly referred to as urban sampling and are closely related to his music production. So it seemed more than logical for a late debut album to forgo the alias and come with an authentic author's album as this

Beat Spacek - Modern Streets (lp+mp3)

Beat Spacek is the latest project from UK vocalist / producer Steve Spacek, a man who should really need no introduction. With boundless abilities, his work transcends genre and style - instead focusing more on swing, melody, vibe and atmosphere. From his legendary output with the band Spacek - 'Curvatia' (2001), 'Vintage Hi-Tech' (2003); solo work on the cult Sound In Color imprint and collaborations with the late, great J.Dilla; to his under-the-radar Black Pocket project for dBridge's Exit Records and his most recent work with Mark Pritchard as one half of Africa HiTech, his fearless approach to creation has always been progressive and highly original.

Beat Spacek sees him once again take the reigns as a solo artist creating a record that is as much a love letter to the future as it is an ode to the past. Created largely using iPhone and iPad apps, the album once again finds Steve liberated through new technologies, excited by the prospects of 'the new' whilst expressing notions of the past. It's a journey through the evolution of modern Britain from a futurist perspective.

Framed against a particular period in the 1980s when Steve was growing up as a young man in New Cross, South East London, 'Modern Streets' is rooted in the duality of the past and the future. Flim-Flams was the club where he first experienced the clash of sounds and styles that characterised South London's racial, ethnic and cultural melting pot. A spot where punks, soul heads, new romantics, dread locks and skinheads all converged brought together through a love of music and new sounds.

From the paranoid, post-punk, sleng teng musings of "I Wanna Know" to the new wave pop-powered love song "Inflight Wave", 'Modern Streets' is a direct reflection of that experience, envisioned through the mind of a 21st Century rudeboy. Ghanaian highlife is re-imagined in digital form on "Tonight"; "Stand Firm" tips its hat to the dancehall with a futuristic rinse; whilst the sub-bass powered anthem "Alone in Da Sun" draws on the finest elements of dubstep's sonic vocabulary and reworks them into a loose, new age club jam, brimming with soul and charisma.

Mark Fell & Sandro Mussida - Object Relations #1

Object Relations is a very promising new 7' label curated by Mark Fell focusing on
collaborations between diverse artistic practices.
Recorded in Milan, 2014, the label's inaugural edition establishes its remit in a unique
combination of Fell's crafty drum programming with the adroit, keening cello
improvisation of trained cellist and composer Sandro Mussida, following their meeting
and performance in Tuscany at the International Encounters in Sound event.
On both sides, Fell's elliptical microtemporal Linndrum arrangements are matched
and coloured with compelling streaks and wooden strikes from Mussida in a tussle of
crooked time signatures and rhythmelodic cadence resolving and dispersing at oblique
yet somehow elegant angles.
The first results of this collaboration sees a departure from the purely electronic
asceticism of Fell's widely known work for Editions Mego or Raster Noton, and perhaps
best compared with the minimalist, downtown early '80s experiments of Peter Zummo
and Arthur Russell, albeit effectively shorn of that duo's more melodic affectations.

Frank Bretschneider - Sinn + Form

frank bretschneider's new project SINN + FORM (MEANING AND FORM) is based on the idea of a fundamentally chaotic world as we know it from mathematical or physical theories and models (dynamical systems, probability theory, stochastic systems), and the constant attempt of man to recognize and
to describe, predict, control and change this world.musically, this system is simulated electronically using a modular synthesizer
system. various modules produce a constant fow of randomly generated data that modulate the decisive musical parameters (pitch, note length, volume, tone). the attempt of SINN + FORM in this context is to transform this stream of events into a musically relevant system of chaos and order, dynamics and statics, content and form by means of an improvised but deliberate process of constant control and infuence.aesthetically, the project recalls the electronic music of the mid 20th century: studios such as the IRCAM in paris, stockholm's EMS (elektronmusikstudion), the WDR »studio for electronic music« in cologne, or new york's columbia princeton electronic music center. SINN + FORM also captures the dynamics and energy of a spontaneous improvisation, last but not least as a reaction to a complex world, a world in permanent crisis.the material was recorded in july 2014 at EMS, stockholm, using the buchla and serge analog synthesizer systems.

Else Marie Pade - Electronic Works 1958 ' 1995

lse Marie Pade's Electronic Works 1958-1995 is a heavy duty three LP set which was restored, mastered and cut at Dubplates in Berlin under the watchful ears of curator Jacob Kirkegaard. These monumental works are presented, for the first time, pressed on audiophile grade heavy duty vinyl where they belong. 3LP is pressed in an edition of 500 copies. "The sounds outside became concrete music, and in the evening I could imagine that the stars and the moon and the sky uttered sounds and those turned into electronic music." Else Marie Pade Else Marie Pade (born 1924 in Aarhus, Denmark; currently living in Copenhagen) is a precious golden gem in the world of contemporary electro-acoustic music. She is a true pioneer of Musique Concrete and electronic music recorded on tape. She is Denmarks first lady of electronic music and her piece Syc Cirkler (Seven Circles) became Denmark's first electronic piece to be performed on the radio. EMP's search for sound began in early childhood when she was isolated in her bed for long periods of time due to illness. There she would lie and listen to the sounds around her just as she did years later when she was imprisoned for spying on Nazi compounds in Arhus. Once released from prison she became a piano student at the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen but chose to instead pursue the nuances of her inner sound world after hearing Pierre Schaeffer in 1952. She began studying with him not too soon thereafter. Her first electronic composition premiered in 1955. Illustrationer

F. E. Denning - Cities Of Light

Cities of Light is F.E. Dennings vinyl debut and it is his best work to date. The compositions aswell as the emotions are more complex than before and with his signature of endless pools of synth drones and melodies cascading on each other, he draws out a perfectly paranoid image of a modern metropolis. The equal measures of beauty and horror that occupy the modern sleepless machine cities, is presented in a blurred narrative over the records five pieces. Cities of Light feels neither for or against the concept of mega city that it displays, the record feels more like someone accepting the state of things, accepting that soon the sunrise will be broadcasted on billboards because of smog layers. Accepting that even with millions and millions of people there are no familiar faces appearing in the masses. That the city has become an organism of its own and that any fighting against it has already been intergrated in its system. Cities of Light is a beautiful and cinematic drone record, a new level for the work of F. E. Denning and a very precise portray of how it feels to be alone with millions around you.

Photay is the solo musical endeavor of Evan Shornstein, a 21-year-old hailing from the lush and peaceful evergreen valley of Woodstock, NY.

Having been introduced to Aphex Twin at the tender age of 9, he quickly began to embrace music in all of its forms. This early inspiration provided a foundation for his musical growth in drumming, turntablism and eventually composition. Drawing on a wide range of global influences, he dove headfirst into the world of audio experimentation, initially through mixes recorded using his turntables, and later on through the use of digital audio software.

After an eye-opening trip to Guinea, West Africa, Photay was born. Combining his newly acquired knowledge of polyrhythmic percussion and years of experimenting with sampling and field recordings, he went on to create and self-release his first project under the alias. Seamlessly combining a variety of audio sources and techniques, Photay's sound is a balancing act of analog and digital, of natural and synthetic. It is not designed exclusively for headphones nor for the dancefloor, but is genuinely at home in both contexts.

This unique and confident young voice is in full effect on his debut self-titled release for Astro Nautico. Restlessly playful, Photay's unique range of compositional skills is immediately apparent, with tempos and moods spontaneously emerging and evolving organically. Fusing catchy melodies with unusual textures, this is invigorating music that speaks an ancient language. It is vibrant, dynamic and beautifully unexpected. It will move you.

Monsoonsiren - Falstrati

I was heavily inspired by Chris Marker's film Sans Soleil (Sunless) just before I began recording the EP. He talks about remembering and memories; we preserve our recollections through photographs, films, literature and in my particular case, music. Each track on the EP is essentially a memory preserved.

The EP deals with ennui or just the overlying feeling of listlessness that usually props up when one thinks life is futile. Again, like my last release, this EP is quite melancholic in nature except the themes are more mature. I've focused on the artificial gratifications such as drugs, sex and what these temporary distractions can do to you and the relationships around you.

Heith - Silence Will Expire

Founded in 2013, Heith is an open project revolving around Haunter Records co-founder and Cage Suburbia member Daniele Guerrini, whose current live incarnation also includes longtime friend Tristan Viecelli. Its manifestations mostly involve dense layers of drones whirling around sparse androgynous grooves.
There is a sound intensity makes while echoing through a human body, be it through meditation, dream, the coming down of a drug or the unexpected resurfacing of a string of memories. It is the ghastly sound of absence. It permeates the atmosphere disguising itself as silence, phasing in and out of empathy, in and out of time, through past and future experiences. It eventually evolves into a
form of tired, narcotic sexual stimulation, bringing as much love and pleasure as pain, guilt, fear and violence. Its true nature is an enigma that allows itself to get explored and experienced, rather
than explained. This is what lead Heith through the creation of the Silence Will Expire EP, six tracks of rhythmic body poetry that make use heavy bass pulsation, transitional percussions and dehumanized vocals as ritualistic tools, setting up a looping narrative with no final resolution, yet radically modifying its own spiritual setting.

Acre glides across sonic landscapes of grime, techno, industrial/experimental with ease, melding a jilted sense of other-worldliness seamlessly with dancefloor sensibilities. A delicate tightrope to walk! Over the course of 'Icons EP', Acre explores and references his influences - expanding, developing and flashing light over towards the unseen.

* 'Ping' kicks the EP off, it's raucous hoovers tearing from the offset, soon to be joined by toxic breakbeats, bouncing of the walls; screaming it's demented jungle war cry at 125bpm. Guaranteed to get your heart racing! Follow on then to 'Blue Moon' which references grime instrumentals of years past, yielding a darker take to the more familiar Night Slugs sonic. Flip the plate and take a deep percussive journey with 'Icon' which sounds a bit like Shackleton might if he made his beats on a gameboy.. Finally 'Reload' winds down the EP at a more relaxed pace yet compromised - 'loaded with future-bass science and other mind melting sounds.

Toggling between metallic shards of DX7, drum machine blast beats and grandiose, hyper-color drones - its strange cohesion of disparate objects suggesting a novel synchronicity.

* Like all Egyptrixx releases, Transfer of Energy (Feelings of Power)' pivots on a central dichotomy: tranquility and concussion. Picture Genocide Organ rededicated to pure positivity or spectral love notes to aging infrastructure. These are concrete and euphoric slabs of sound.

The Black Mist Ep

Front & Follow, in collaboration with The Outer Church, present a stunning new EP from Pye Corner Audio - The Black Mist EP.
The EP features an extended mix of the title track Black Mist (the original featured on last year's Outer Church compilation), new track Bulk Erase and a remix of Black Mist by fellow OC collaborators Old Apparatus.Pye Corner Audio is the audio recovery project of the Head Technician, a mysterious and studious figure who has developed the ability to travel sideways through time and space via a) the use of rewired analogue recording equipment and b) the judicious application of moss and fog. Alongside the self-released Black Mill Tapes research series (recently collected on vinyl and CD by Type Records), the Head Technician has released music through Dekorder, Type, The Tapeworm and Boomkat Editions, not to mention a full-length album, Sleep Games, on Ghost Box. Earlier this year, he was coaxed out of the lab and indeed the British Isles to join Mogwai on their European tour, where he took considerable pleasure in sampling the lichen of foreign lands. The Head Technician claims not to know where the bodies are buried, but would be happy to show you his reels.Old Apparatus were specially selected by the Head Technician to remix Black Mist, and have turned in a distressed deconstruction in keeping with their rusted iron aesthetic. A collective of shady individuals most often found muttering obscure invocations in the low-rent drinking dens of North East London, their stubbornly uncategorisable sound debuted in 2011 with a hissing, creaking self-titled 12' on Mala's esteemed Deep MEDi label. Their debut album, Compendium, was released on their own Sullen Tone label in 2013. The outfit has in addition birthed a number of intriguing offshoots such as Harem, Saa and Penny. One of them may be standing behind you right now, reading this over your shoulder. Don't look.Much imitated but never equalled, The Outer Church is a shadowy Brighton-based organisation dedicated to the promotion of uncanny sound and vision. Its semi-human representative is music writer and persistent meddler Joseph Stannard (The Wire, Mojo, Red Bull Music Academy, The Quietus etc). Since its inception in 2009, The Outer Church has presented live audiovisual performances from Demdike Stare, Raime, Pye Corner Audio, Some Truths, Ekoplekz, Kemper Norton, Hacker Farm, Umberto, High Wolf, Grumbling Fur and many, many more. 'Magnum Innominandum. A random access myth. The clarion signals the opening of the portal. Remember to take a reading. A hex and a pox and the land is ours.'
