E.M.U. - Electro Music Union, Sinoesin & Xonox Works 1993 - 1994

Reissue of rare UK ambient techno from ’93-‘94

Cold Blow has joined forces with Berlin’s AVA. Records in unearthing some of the finest ambient techno from the Artificial Intelligence era in a beautiful double LP package. The compilation covers essential cuts from the back catalog of J. M. Adkins’ releases and includes 2 tracks available on vinyl for the first time!

Aside from Descent, a previously unreleased track, the material was previously released on the short-lived Metatone Recordings which was founded by Adkins himself together with Damon D’Cruz known from his preceding Jack Trax label. Today the original releases are sought after rarities which demand high prices on the 2nd hand market.

Compiled from the original DAT tapes and remastered by Andreas “Lupo” Lubich at Calyx Mastering, “Electro Music Union, Sinoesin & Xonox Works 1993 - 1994” reintroduces Adkin’s work as some of the era-defining classics from the early years of techno. A must-have reissue for the fans of early B12, AFX, The Black Dog, Kirk Degiorgio, et al.

REPRESSED !!

Chase me, chase me. Tom and Jerry. Dick Dastardly and Muttley. My two dogs by the fire, contentedly asleep. I miss us, the spark of excitement, the thrill of the chase, the ancient rolls... but most of all I miss making music, our no man's land. And that's what makes it difficult at first to listen to your Haar. I hear the hills in it, I hear the sea in it, I hear whitewashed walls, wind and drizzle, shards of sunlight on Scottish sand, I hear the spark and click of a lighter, I hear you.

When you left my life you took on a new name, a borrowed name, a name paying homage to a legend in folk circles buried deep in old songs and ancient bothy books. And that's you through and through - the cryptic layers, the barely tangible stream of consciousness, the subtle fragility of an idea teasingly explored, the suggestion of a hook, the predictably unpredictable.

Maybe a bloody genius but most definitely with something to say, a perfectionist but never a polisher or one to dwell too long on precious things. Am I talking about the music, Haar, or you To me they are one in the same thing, the sea - you, the ghost-like memories of an old fashioned Scotland - you, the Joyce-esque suggestion of a thousand things without ever defining one - you.
A rich tapestry from a strange and beautiful mind. This isn't a vacuous collection of junk collected by some preening magpie but something real, something built with love, craft and tirelessly acquired skill. Referential yes, but only so as to pay respectful homage to tradition and culture. A precise execution on proper machines with big hands and pop-eye forearms, undeniably heartfelt.

21.11.2018

Oberman Knocks makes a welcome return to aperture records since his last release Dilankex in 2014, which featured an outstanding 17 minute remix from autechre.
Working on other projects during this time seems to have charged his creativity and Knocks now propels himself back into the fold for his third album Trilate Shift with cleaner, more polished production and a change of direction which should certainly see his appeal rise across a wider audience.
Last year Knocks produced the soundtrack to The Red Tree, an award winning documentary film from Still films (New York/Dublin) and in 2016 he was commissioned by The Lowry in Salford to produce a sound installation, 30 Days of The Smiths, forming part of their Week 53 festival, a version of which was also performed live.
Trilate Shift sees Knocks serve up fourteen lustrous tracks of proficiency and divergent ingenuity encompassing interjections of disembodied vocals, setting the scene for a distinctive musical trajectory.

Automat - Modul

Modul

2x12inchCPT558-1
Compost Records
31.01.2020

Die Gruppe Automat - Jochen Arbeit (u.a.

immer in Richtung neuer, unerhörter Sounds.

Clear Vinyl

Huerco S.’ West Mineral Ltd. coax out a lather of ambient downbeats and techno mutations from Russia’s Ol & Flaty in their 2nd volume of Serwed material Forged from intuitive live jams recorded in their home studios, Serwed’s sophomore side delivers 10 fractious, shapeshifting oddities full of lopsided, minimalist rhythms and uncanny spatial complexities. Each part is cut from the fabric of longer sessions and highlights points in their creative process where intersections of their individual inputs transcend the sum of their parts, generating strange and inquisitive new permutations of rhythm and sound, or a “kind of new entity” as they prefer to call them. Collected and arranged into album format, they make a uniquely
etheric flux that resonates richly with West Mineral Ltd.’s between-worlds aesthetic and adds up to a surreal and captivating bigger picture.
Variously touching on aspects of abstract techno dub, early-hours dancefloor experimentation, and heartstrung yacht rock strokes, the results smudge definitions of club music in a way that see those spaces as playgrounds for the imagination, and not simply sites of reenactments of the past, or outlets for alcohol suppliers. As such the album offers myriad options for altered state dancers and ‘floor-edge wallflowers, exploring a mutable range of styles between the Dynamo-meetsBellows flux of ‘Initial II’, the nervously stepping tics of ‘Platm’, and the strung-out 0PN-ism of ‘In Spare’, while the likes of ‘Grip’ and the jet-streaked minimal house abstraction of ‘Plane’ are more urgent in their bassy heft.
Ultimately ’Serwed II’ beautifully mimics and evokes a state of blipping thizz associated with the later hours of an MDMA buzz, yielding an immersive, impressionistic trip likely to leave its users gently disoriented but glowing with satisfaction.

Acclaimed electronic producer Matthew Hodson presents his exciting new project, MATTHS, with ‘Velocet’ released on FatCat Records’ sub label FCR on 17 May 2019.

With his debut MATTHS release, the Brighton-based artist presents two stunning, atmospheric soundscapes ‘Velocet’ and ‘Loop’ which both immediately captivate the listener with their masterful, brooding beats. Using a bespoke modular synthesiser setup, MATTHS has designed and compiled a unique musical instrument that enables the creation of textures and tones specific to personal creative concepts.

Title track ‘Velocet’ is a dynamically charged sonic excursion which keeps on building throughout to a powerful crescendo, providing a clever balance of familiarity and disconnection.

‘Loop’ complements the title track perfectly, an ambient yet powerful cut that develops with layers of rhythm and melody, drenched in arrhythmic delays and swashes of reverb.

Recent MATTHS performances include opening for Wire; supporting Alex Banks (Monkeytown Records), Ulrich Schnauss and Rival Consoles (Erased Tapes). MATTHS has worked with the original BBC Radiophonic Workshop on their new material at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios. In May, MATTHS will play the Superbooth Festival in Berlin.

borderlandstate_the best kisser in l.a - Hello Mainframe EP

The first Exit Records release of 2020 sees borderlandstate_the best kisser in l.a join forces for an EP that traverses through different shades without compromising on identity. The collaboration between the pairing came to being very organically according to Borderland State: "Me and The Best Kisser in LA started messing about in the studio a few years back. No intention to finish anything, let alone play it to anyone."

dBridge then heard the tracks and the result is EXIT088, a debut on the label and a great way to start the new decade. The label owner picked ‘Hello Mainframe’ out as his key track from his recent Essential Mix.

The guys go on to shed more light on the creative process:

"Our music develops chaotically. We add things and add things and throw most of them away. We use synths, pedals, and delay units and record them into a laptop which, against all odds, continues to struggle on. tracks live across three or four project files because the layering of sounds is dense. we sample ourselves back and forth, not knowing where things will end up, looking for the right texture"

The significance of dBridge, Exit and Autonomic shouldn't be underestimated for Borderland State and The Best Kisser in LA, we're told that "Our influences are disparate but Autonomic was a constant. without him (dBridge) and Instra:mental, these tracks would not exist."

EXIT088 is a new interpretation of the Exit sound by borderlandstate_the best kisser in l.a, the branches have stretched further and the roots have become stronger as the label continues its unstoppable growth.

Tapan are back with their first release since their debut album EUROPA. After that 2xLP emotional and epic Journey they are now showing us again their “dancier” side with two cuts “The Beast” (featuring Serbian musician Jan Nemecek) and Ghana. Both tracks are not easy to categorize. Perhaps Industrial-inspired Tribal-Trance is the closest description, and yet somehow after listening to the tracks it feels like trying to put it in “a box” just don’t do justice with the complexity of the music and its components. Both tracks are remixed by 2 current favorites of the Malka Tuti Crew - Russian duo ODOPT who deliver an out-worldly IDM monster of a remix to The Beast, and Italian-Belgian Duo Front De Cadeaux who pitches the track GHANA even slower, adding more percussive grooves, a fat bassline and a whole lot of of sexiness to the brew.

VAG (VARIOUS ARTISTS GENEVA) - DIY COMPILATION

VAG (Various Artists Geneva) is a DIY compilation of dance and experimental music, consisting of 22 tracks produced by various musicians from Geneva. This limited double-LP is filled with analog-synths, modded'sequencers, drum-machines and amplified instruments, resulting in a surprising collaboration which reflects the bubbling underground scene of the city. The record sleeves have been individually customised, with each one being different from the other, and come enclosed with postcards from Geneva.

"In May last year, I sent an email to a large circle of friends, dj’s and musicians, who gravitate around Bongo Joe Records, our local record store in Geneva. I wrote to them about the idea of sharing their B-sides on a various artists compilation, by delving deep into their personal home-studio produced music library. What followed was a flow of amazing tracks, raw and spontaneous. Subsequently, we all met to listen to eachothers recordings; it was a very powerful moment.

The process quickly became an 'anonymous' project, with the idea that both established and non-established musicians should all be equal, without their personal egos getting in the way. Some of the artists had never released any tracks before. The final set of tracks, which eventually made it onto the LP, were selected by three members of the group with the intention being to draw a musical landscape across all 4 sides. The mastering was done by Lad Agabekov in Gimel, Switzerland. The 500 double LPs arrived with a generic white sleeve to be designed by our friends and the general public: all the covers are unique in this sense.

One year on from the inital idea, we now have this beautiful and unpredictable compilation of various artists. It brings together a group of highly talented individuals, to enable us to discover the hidden underground scene of Geneva, with all its grit and soul. "

SIS003 welcomes Boston's deadliest modern wave duo Dead Husband to the SISTERS family across the murky waters of the Northern Atlantic for a host of dance-floor focused workouts.

A mixture of syncopated drum work and reverb drenched arpeggiators define Dead Husbands debut on the label across a capricious collection of tracks/music.

Doug Lee gives Facial Recognition the usual An-i treatment drawing out a monologue of emotion through the sub bass and sweet undulating use of distortion which constantly helps the track and the low end move forward, whilst electro aficionado Privacy offers up his take on the track with a rolling 4x4 composition true to his unique modus operandi, slowed down powerful.

And a remix debut for Papers, 5 years after down tooling from their white label series, they round off the record bridging the Atlantic gap with their distinctly steezey techno sound.

Until Here For Years is the 11th studio album from Proem, and the first since 2010's Enough Conflict that is in the more experimental electronica style Richard Bailey is most known for.
Until Here for Years is being released just a month before the 20th anniversary of his debut album Burn Plate No. 1 and Until Here For Years has all the hallmark Proem components, that are still as prominent as they were 20 years ago.
Malfunctioning drums, the fat rounded basses (this time out doubled on fretless bass), and those heartstring pads. Oh, the pads! This is where Proem has always differed from his contemporaries. Scholarly enough for the chin scratchers and sufficiently cerebral for those that could care less how the sounds might have been conceived. It's a fine line Bailey has always walked with ease.
Every part of Until Here For Years, including the artwork, utilizes an esoterically obscured source. JSON documents, synthesizer schematics, hex values, and even SVG files are used as a basis for his creative input. In other's hands, it surely would sound like an academic exercise, but Bailey makes emotively arresting music from such abstruse sources. Until Here for Years is undoubtedly a return to form and ultimate treat (and thank you) to Proem fans the world over.

Constant Sound's electro arm, Infiltrate, calls upon the considerable talents and technical heft of London Modular Alliance for a bruising EP of body-popping exploration strapped to a tough n' funky beatdown. "Crack Fox" is as nervy and nimble as the title might suggest, while "Regular Customer" takes things in a hyper-detailed direction compatible with the kind of advanced machine funk you expect from Silicon Scally. "Blinky" follows suit with another artfully woven web of twitchy synth hooks and deftly sequenced drums, and then "Other Worlds" switches things up with some seriously hefty bass pressure pivoting around a dubstep attitude towards space and moodiness.

Where too many Western artists right now are caught in the retro-vintage, shabby chic trap, every one of the artists featured here embrace the here and now, and what’s to come, with a fervently infectious alacrity and directness that’s hard to ignore and has seen the label showered with praise from all corners of the worldwide music media.
We’re all spoilt for choice with the highlights, but a few really stand out. The wildly ricocheting 808 proprioception of Gooooose’s ‘Arp Kicks’ is right up there with the best we’ve heard in recent years; Swimful impresses with the hard-ass, keening grime designs and descending sirens of ‘Nailz’; Indonesia’s Gabber Modus Operandi send us reeling with the mix of wailing traditional horns, gamelan and gabber kicks in ‘Sangkakala II’; Hyph11e precogs the deathly march of the robots with the reconfigured D&B and noise of ’Sinking’; MIIN strikes a class fusion of dembowdancehall and IDM in ‘Metagame’; and Zaliva-D exert a powerful sidespin with the rugged battery of ’Synthetic Sin’ inna Low Jack style.
Hands-down it’s the most vivid and thrilling showcase of new electronic music from the Far East,or anywhere else for that matter, in years. A real no brainer.

"Filterealism" starts from the territories where Gamayun haven't stepped before, from the music that only seems to be simple, but in fact it turns out to be very compound. Their recordings are not escapist in any sense of its meanings anymore; the whole album consists of divisions, explorations and adoptions through the personal and collective experience of music-making. The technical side of this sound acts likewise: you can hear a large amount of routine items (furniture, utensils and deformed recordings of the nature) among "conventional" electronic gadgets and live instruments.

"Filterealism" sounds just like some Soviet electronic music pioneer, which had shifted his focal grip from the modulations and synthesizers to all the simple things of surrounding and completed the piece with profounder shot of weirdness and commonplace wondering. And it literally works like a wonder.

Yoshihiro Sawasaki - Neocrystal

The Amsterdam based Modern Obscure Music label launches a new sub-division named MOMArchives. MOMArchives is a reissue label that will focus on electronic music. All releases will be available on vinyl and also digitally.

The first release is Neocrystal by Japanese producer Yoshihiro Sawasaki. It is a fantastic slice of mid 90s Japanese Ambient Techno that needs to be heard by a larger audience. Yoshihiro Sawasaki is a Kyoto based producer who has released music under aliases such as Naturally Gushing and Doctor YS & the Cosmic Drunkards on labels like Sublime Records, Apollo Records and V2. Neocrystal was originally released on Sublime Records back in 1994. Sublime Records is an important label in the history of Japanese electronic music. The imprint has released music by domestic artists such as Susumu Yokota and Ken Ishii, as well as foreign talent such as Global Communications. The B Side to Neocrystal is Magic Dome. This was licensed to Dave Angel’s instalment of the legendary X-Mix series on Studio K7!

The first MOMArchives release begins with the ‘On The Beach’ mix of Neocrystal. It is a dreamy ambient track with gorgeous key washes and reverberating synthetics. It is followed by Magic Dome, a spacey keyed cut with bright synth play, subtle percussion and hypnotic key work. This is a wonderful archive release from Yoshihiro Sawasaki and it is a great start for MOMArchives.

Slackk - A Little Light

Slackk

A Little Light

2x12inchRS1705
R&S Records
15.05.2017

Slackk first came to the attention of most with an EP of roughneck UK house on Numbers, before a series of more emotive, melody-driven records on Local Action and Unknown to the Unknown saw him emerge as one of the most unique and influential artists working in the peripheries of grime - taking the genre's hallmarks and audio tattoos but placing them in a context that owed as much to Eastern mood pieces and the complex melodies of classic jazz records, hinting at other key influences on Slackk's music. His debut album Palm Tree Fire was a particular success: Resident Advisor calling it a 'beautiful glimpse into the mind of an under-appreciated producer'.

Slackk has since expanded the breath and honed the details of his music through a pair of EPs on R&S - first Backwards Light, a record that expanded on the themes of his previous releases while taking in the label's legacy of groundbreaking acid and techno, and then on the more abrasive Aviary. A Little Light, his first album for the label, is his most idiosyncratic and personal release yet.

Partially inspired by the upcoming birth of his first child, this album sees Slackk drop the tempo to an r&b 90bpm crawl on tracks like 'Spring Mist' and 'Zip Me Up', with the newfound space between his drums allowing his delicate melodies to grow and spiral like never before.

Although the LP looks forward, it's also nostalgic: 'Old Petchy Shows' is a reference to the last embers of UK Funky, arguably the final chapter of UK dance music to rely on traditional physical hubs like pirate radio and record stores, while 'Paper Santos' and 'Reasons' nod to early 2000s grime and house, both influences on Slackk in different ways. Elsewhere, 'So Far, The Sea' and 'And The Sun' are two of the most outright emotional songs that Slackk has written to date.

Although there are clear reference points dotted throughout A Little Light, more than anything - following several years of honing and developing a trademark sound - it simply sounds like Slackk; equal parts nostalgic and optimistic, delicate and clumsy, with an atmosphere that could either be sunset or sunrise depending on your vantage point. It's an album filled with uncertainty and individuality, utterly unconcerned with what's happening outside of its own world, and there's only one artist around who could have written it.

13.03.2020

Electronic brutalist Somaticae distills a rage against surveillance software company ‘Amesys’ in his ferocious album of rhythmic digital noise for Mondkopf’s In Paradisum label, coming off like Pan Sonic using Takeshi Nakamura’s No Input Mixing Board in the process… Fuelled by a justifiable need to disseminate information about Amesys, a French company who have supplied discreet surveillance software to government organisations and dictatorships around the world - including Muamar Gaddafi’s Libya, the European Commission, and the French M.o.D. - Somaticae’s 3rd album for In Paradisum is framed around tense, weaponised sonics that act as metaphor for the relationship between France’s role as the 4th largest arms exporter in the world, and its emergent position as low key facilitator of “Big Brother”.
Finding Somaticae in his 13th year of operations, the project takes on a heavier meaning with its ‘AMESYS’.
In seven tense steps he affords scant relief from a raw, pulsating core of energy that he just about tames over the course of the album. Working right at the biting point of digital noise in patented style, he churns up squabbling patterns and sheer binary scree with a manacled grasp of loud/quiet dynamics that handles the listener from passages of gnashing tension to guttural spasms of bass and pelting, almost Frenchcore-style kicks.
Although recorded in the studio, the album’s livewire ruffness surely lives up to Somaticae’s notorious reputation for live, improvised performance in the European DIY scene to record. It’s a proper seat-edge listen that imparts its message in no uncertain terms, galvanising his audience to the struggle against deployment of facial recognition, and the inherent erosion of civil liberties, which are aided by Amesys and its offshoots, Nexa Technologies and AMES. The issue isn’t sci-fi any more; it’s real and impending

Shinra displays his musical dexterity and diverse influences across this 4 track EP delving deeper into the realms of electro and techno.

'Route 909' serves up emotive melodies rooted down with a heavy kick before working the keys hard to maximum effect. 'Flyby' is a beautiful moment of electronic bliss reminiscent of the great Aphex Twin, while the acid soaked '1111' is a certified dance floor bomb.

Shinra isn't adverse to switching tempos and beats and can also deliver flawless techno. The cleverly structured and melodically complex 'On & On' rounds up the wax with a track that makes you want to drift away on the dance-floor, prepare to be transported to a future world where machines have emotions.

Intinerant Dubs - Human Emulation

Lurking in the shadows of the underground since 2013, subtly shifting trends and creating new bass cultures with a firmly understated frame of mind, Itinerant Dubs resurface with three new dance experiments that cross the boundaries and join the dots with brutal simplicity of thought. No tricks, cheap thrills or passing tastes; this is pure UK heat coming straight from the machines to your needle. The opener, "Dub This", lashes out heavy 808 percussion amid a blur of sparse, jagged licks of acid, while "Human Emulation" uses electro science as its platform for dancehall annihilation, leaving "Three Four" to linger more placidly in a hazy, mid-air smoke that we've come to recognise as the apex Itinerant Dubs sound. Murderous and iconic. The shadows resurface.

Kolida Babo - Exodus Remixes - Coby Sey & Who’s The Technician?

Repress

First up is a reinvention from Coby Sey - the Lewisham, South London musician who's founded the Curl collective alongside Mica Levi and Brother May and collaborated with Babyfather, Klein and Tirzah, noted as one of the 50 best new artists of 2019 by the guardian. The tone and atmospherics of the original’s combination of synthesiser and woodwind are sliced into ghostly, mesmeric fragments and refitted in layers around loping, propulsive rhythms with something like UKG's steppiness - languid despite being uptempo, bright and almost gleeful despite the inescapable mournfulness of the source material.

Who’s The Technician? of Ireland's Wah Wah Wino label - turns in a remix that wrestles with the original over seven- and-a-half-minutes of relentlessly captivating deep digi-dancehall, less of a remix than a rebirth cycle, with the latent soul-splitting lament of Kolida Babo’s duduk copy-pasted onto a delirious mercurial lead rotating through hedonistic ecstasy and burnout, a snake-eating-its-own-tail of a version cracking open the third eye with a crowbar, plus a post- apocalyptic, ruthlessly space-invading dub that blasts the remix’s scale out to the starkest retreats of the universe in search of...

HFN MUSIC

White Vinyl 10"

A new release this winter marks a landmark moment in an important musical story. Way back in little 2009, the label hfn music was born in Hamburg, and made its introduction to the world with the release of the Trentemøller compilation Harbour Boat Trips: 01 Copenhagen.
Founder Tobias Lampe wanted to start a label that was more broad in scope than his previous, more electronic-focused projects, and the compilation provided the perfect opportunity to launch one. In the 10 years since then, the label has survived the whirlpool waters of the early 21st century’s constantly changing music industry, and released everything from pop to art-punk, with artists ranging from New York to the Faroe Islands.
Now, they’re about to put out their 100th release. Fittingly, given the label’s focus on new and innovative music, and the historic aspect of the release, hfn100 sees one of hfn’s best songs of 2019 put into the hands of the man it all started with, Anders Trentemøller. His Danish compatriots Blaue Blume’s new album Bell Of Wool is one of hfn’s standout releases this year, and so hfn100 sees Trentemøller remix one of that record’s standout tracks, the fragile, but soaring “Lovable”.
In Blaue Blume’s original, “Lovable” is an airy, tormented song, a gossamer-delicate composition that carefully stitches together layers and layers of shining synths that gradually build up and up into a peak, before crashing into a subtle beat, a musical journey that mirrors vocalist Jonas Smith’s trip from anguish to numbness. Whereas the original’s music sounds woven together from light, Trentemøller takes it into darker territory. He hooks the song to a harsh, sparse beat leaving Smith’s vocals bare and isolated in the burnt-out, dystopic musical landscape he creates.
Trentemøller mirrors the original’s careful building up, adding new elements to fill in the song’s sound, before it collapses into a tough, noir disco groove. It’s a perfectly realised remix – Trentemøller keeps the original song’s skeleton and soul, but fills in the space with sonic touches that could be no one else’s but his.Ultimately, it’s a fitting song for hfn’s hundredth release. For a label that’s always been a platform for its boundary-pushing artists, a collaboration between two of them, that sees an already innovative song pushed into a bold new shape is the perfect way for hfn to step into the next 100 releases..

Chi - The Original Recordings 2x12"

CHI started in the late punk years in the early eighties. A time of change and mind-blowing albums. We started doing sound experiments in an old farm in Moordrecht (thanks to Jan van Rhee and Kees van der Veer). In the summer, all the doors and windows were open; birds flew in and out. In the distance we saw the highway to Rotterdam. In the winter we sat close together, no heating, only blankets, candles and brandy.
We did sessions of 3 days and nights. We brought a full PA-system for every session (thanks to Jurgen and Fijko) to get the right feel. Usually we played from the late morning untill sunrise. Fijko was playing his spacey videos and projecting trippy slideshows. Jurgen was creating all kind of effects and recording everything. We used the Commodore 64 to create sequences. We had two synths (a Juno 60 and JX3P), a few guitars, an old Revox tapedeck for loops (some loops were 7 metres long running past bottles) and a lot of weird handmade instruments, percussion, bamboo flutes; an old, broken piano, a small Philicorda organ and various effects like water, shaken yogurt (Soppin), mouth-sounds, street-noises, etc.
Essentially, the music is half electronic, half acoustic. What made it special is that we also performed it live. We brought our personal hifi-sets on stage for easy listening comfort. We carried 7 monitors for the video and had 3 big screens for slideshows.
Highlights were our premiere at Lantaren/Venster (Rotterdam, 1986 - 2 nights sold out, thanks to Theo Hensen) and our Paradiso (Amsterdam, 1987) show on the main stage broadcast live on national radio. We ended up with a bunch of punks and freaks, but they really loved it.Our cassette was a collectors item at the legendary Amsterdam based label and record store Staalplaat. They released a CD 15 years later in 2000 on their new label Container Music. Now, 30 years later, Astral Industries (thanks to Ario Farahani) releases an exclusive vinyl limited edition. We've added the track 'Hopi', which was previously only released on cassette. It's a track that I made as a guideline for CHI in 1984, featuring a Hopi elder speaking of Hopi prophecies and the future of the world. Who knows what may happen next....

HEINRICH DRESSEL - Completion Of The Amphoras Table

Heinrich Dressel was an archaeologist, epigraphist and numismatist, creator of a table, still in use, for the cataloging of Roman amphorae. For over ten years, one of the founders of MinimalRome, Valerio Lombardozzi, has embraced the name of the German scholar, becoming both the guardian of a dense collection of sounds from the past and the creator of new brilliant electronic ones. “Completion Of The Amphoras Table”, originally released on cd by Legowelt's Strange Life Records, was the final chapter of the so-called 'Studium Amphorae Trilogy', a triptych of albums which tried to 'evoke' in notes not only the discoveries and the studies of Monte Testaccio's fragments made by the former pupil of Theodor Mommsen.
The first vinyl release of “Completion Of The Amphoras Table”, curated by Souterraine.org and Envlp_Imprint, fills not only a recording void, but also gives posterity a remarkable album to rediscover, worthy successor of “Mons Testaceum” (2007 ) and “Escape From The Hill” (2008),
which reconstructs one more time the ghostly atmosphere of a Rome at the dawn of the 20th century. Heinrich Dressel adopts the stylistic features of gloomy soundtracks and, above all, relies on a set of polyphonic synthesizers that, starting from the rare Elka Syntex, favor the composition of abstract textures, punctuated by some appropriate variations, and harmonies which, net of the
deep bass, make every single track even more magnetic.
