Pushing hardcore machine music into a new paradigm, with a combination of sonics and visuals that pull from the past and future in equal measure. It’s first release; a four track EP by Mani Festo (label founder) entitled ‘Higher’ captures its essence perfectly. Fusing breakbeats, soaring rave pianos, dark-side kick drums and industrial machine funk to soundtrack post-pandemic hedonism in a way that nothing else could.

The title track ‘Higher’ is a tale of long-lost raves, written during the summer of 2020. It reflects the first time in the history of electronic music that gatherings ceased to exist. The track is hopeful, but longs for the freedom of dancing in a field, something that seems like nothing more than a forgotten memory.

Shadow Child is an artist who needs little introduction, with a discography dating back to 2012 and notable dance discs for legendary labels such as Dirtybird, Food Music, Unknown To The Unknown, Hot Creations & Super Rhythm Trax, amongst others. His latest outing sees up bring the old school to new school with his debut outing on Bristol based label Shall Not Fade. ‘Bak 2 Skool’ delves deep into all things rave, high energy, dancefloor driven jams through and through.

“Brumes sur le Zoo” is the first release of the label Garde-Robe Records runned by Androgyne crew, founder and art director of the club Macadam in Nantes. This 4 tracks EP gathers Androgyne’s resident artists : Combe, Moksha, GTI and Youl. Thought as a musical trip in echo with the all day long party Gloria, “Brumes sur le Zoo” is an invitation to psychedelic raves.

Hardacre releases this debut EP on his brand new wax series summoning the spirit of UK rave, breakbeat, techno, trance and acid to produce some of the most upfront cuts around.

Carrying Hardacre’s signature artist logo, make no mistake with this one – descending through the stratosphere are four tracks destined to make waves through the dancefloors starting with the ‘The Cosmos’ and its killer bass track accompanied by layers of spacey pads, all to the rhythm of a clinically produced breakbeat.

It feels like it’s time to thank the people who continuously give me energy. No matter in which form. As a child, my father often played something on the guitar or on the synthesizer to me. One melody of it was the one from “Time Shifting”. I took a part of the melody and tried to create my own version, stretched in space and time.

I have experienced that I can make music very well when someone else is sleeping in the room. That was the output from “While Dreaming Deep“.

“Arecibo” is a message sent by humans into space. My interpretation of it originated in a small town of the Paci c Ocean in Chile.

Hypress makes a fresh start. New look, new artists, new team,

Within ‘A Western Circular’ lies an exciting- and varied crew of guest artists including MF DOOM,Samuel T. Herring (Future Islands), Sudan Archives & Laura Groves, all contributing vocals to his rich, dexterous compositions!

An Album that’s been in the works for the past half-decade, ‘A Western Circular’ is a bold, reflective piece that directly relates to Archer’s personal experiences of life and death, centred on one particular week where they breathed with equal intensity. Ostensibly, it’s a poignant reflection on the duality of the human condition.

The more interesting part of the story is, that both tunes are written and recorded nearly 20 years ago by Andy - 1999-2000. But definitely still hot and vibing our sweet and sour DIY motto. We like!!!

The digitally remastered release of JAK3's Moonlight Radiation is a menagerie of cyberpunk mutations arising out of the Memphis revival rap movement. The album's big, blown-out sound might have seemed an incidental result of an analog recording process in its original cassette release. Now, rendered in digital clarity, listeners can better perceive how JAK3 sculpts varying degrees of panic, aggression and resolve very intentionally through the hard mix of industrial noise, inventive beats, flush synths and recordings from a slew of rappers including Freddie Dredd (Toronto), Apoc Krysis (Memphis), and fellow Waistdeep Clique members Agnarkea and Calsutmoran.

The short format of Moonlight Radiation's 16 tracks allows JAK3 to cover a lot of ground, and even within a single track he keeps one guessing. Track 2, "2FAKE," goes from an atmospheric burn, to a slow drive with the snappy flow of Moistbread, and then abruptly crashes back into an oozing vortex of synths. The penultimate interlude "Return from Hyperspace" sounds like one is being forced through a hellish modem, only to land in a haunted and abandoned transmitter for the closing track, "This Night Will Never End."

Between, those tracks, one gets a tour of the wild possibilities that could come next from this producer and the sounds emerging from the Memphis chopped-and-screwed scene. In a milieu that is retreading the past, the mutants of Moonlight Radiation may seem to be arriving a little prematurely. But you can't stop evolution when the field is so wide, and young producers like JAK3 are moving fast.

* ATR is a new venture from the Kniteforce famlily of labels. An attempt to slide back to certain years in the progress of the rave world, making music that sounds exactly like it was from that particular year, even if it was not. So here we have the classic Jimmy J & Cru-l-t track “Six Days” taken back a few years before it was released and changed into something that might have been. Likewise the other tracks on the vinyl – all are modern day built, but all would sit perfectly on an old mixtape from 1991, or being played in the early hours of the morning at an illegal warehouse party….
