LYBES DIMEM is a project by visual artist and musician Lukas Rehm. With a focus on digital sound-de- sign, elaborate beat structures and the use of error, the music plays with cognitive phenomena and abstraction while maintaining an emotional refuge. LYBES DIMEM is presented in formats ranging from spatial sound experiences to sy- nesthetic shows complementing the auditive layers with visualiza- tions of real-time data, computer graphics and moving image. Lukas Rehms installative art, and compo- sitions have been internationally presented and awarded with multi- ple emerging arts prices.

SYNCLEFT CHRONEM is the first album released by LYBES DIMEM in both digital and vinyl format and accompanied by a moving image artwork. The title reflects the pro- jects interest in the potential of difference, cognitive frictions and exertion: sync = variability in the processing of auditive and visual signals, syncleft = the synaptic cleft, which is a crucial empty spa- ce in biological neural networks, chronem = the chroneme as a the- oretical unit to measure the time of

an articulated sound. Mathemati- cally clean sounds juxtapose pat- terns and transitions familiar from the realm of organic acoustics. Multi-layered noise textures ex- plore the simulated space. A tem- porary continuity is provided by percussive and melodic elements, right until the next escalation, eventually awaiting a concluding resolution.

The visual language explores dif- ferent phenomena and techniques of cognition inspired by the rhe- torics of big science (computer graphics, discontinuity of materi- al, pop cultural references). Both the moving image artwork and the graphic design of the release pay tribute to the multi-layered appro- ach of the music. The design of the vinyl cover by studio BNAG.cc uses subtractive colour synthesis to interchange between abstract for- mality and representationalism.

SYNCLEFT CHRONEM is the first release by LYBES DIMEM on SVS Records following a first encounter at the SVS residency at the 4D Spa- tial Sound Institute in Budapest.

* To be released both on special edition vinyl, A-side 'Marching Orders' features legendary grime MC and producer, Footsie, who goes hard over Joker's monstrous instrumental — think relentless, hyper-distorted club hydraulics — even acknowledging him on the hook; 'Oi Joker this beat's sick, crazy'.

* On the flip, B-side 'Polka Dot' is equally as tough, despite the dizzying melodies and gentle tones of the track's opening throws, landing as a crunching melee of textbook Joker sounds.

We are extremely happy to welcome yet another talented crew from Italy in the Moonshine family. D-Operation Drop is a project born in 2010 thanks to the encounter of 5 university students wich found themselves sharing the same house and more importantly, love for music (In 2013 Zeemo joins the Crew, modifying the formation from 5 to 6 elements). After a couple of early collaborations, almost casual, Uniradio Cesena gives to D-Operation Drop the chance to lay the foundations of an underground music program on air twice a week. Thanks to this experience the group officially finds its frame and looks forward to its new goals such as producing, dj'ing and vj'ing. To date D-Operation Drop, after almost seven years of experience, has received support from Artists like J:Kenzo, Distance, N-Type, Icicle, Radikal Guru & many others. Releasing music with notable labels such as Lion Charge, Artikal Music UK, Subaltern and now Moonshine Recordings.

After releasing tremendous EPs for labels like Terra Null or Modern Ruin we are happy to announce a four tracker by london based producer Noh Vae on Through These Eyes. Being a broadcast assistant at the infamous Rinse FM station really shaped his own sound which lies somewhere between Hip Hop, Dub and Jungle. It's hard to find someone operating in this niche so talented and unique, so we had to sign Noh Vae for a full EP! The A side already hits you with big and bad rave horns and a hard hitting halfstep beat which Noh Vae combined all in the right - flow'. Spiced up breaks and flickering drum patterns complement the tune in perfect dancefloor style.

After years of releases by Alpha & Omega, and most recently Dub Dynasty, ZamZam is proud to offer our first release from Ben Alpha AKA Alpha Steppa, completing the triad from this family steeped in UK roots and dub. As the operator and visionary behind Steppas Records, Alpha Steppa links the history of traditional sound system music to the present of contemporary bass music styles, always with a focus on mindfulness, building community, and higher consciousness through music.

'Liberation' is a breakbeat-fueled dubwise masterclass, a different version of which has only been heard digitally until now. A massive bass undertow drives the tune, while a plucked melody and a swarm of percussion cascades, rocks, and interlocks effortlessly around the root riddim. A digital-only extra to Alpha Steppa's last album, we agreed wholeheartedly with Ben that 'Liberation' very much deserved to be on vinyl, so he supplied us with several unreleased dubplate mixes to choose from. All of them were strong, this one having perhaps the greatest contrast to the digital version.

Ben's esoterism and sense of humor shine through in the story of the track's origin: "I started the track with the idea to make a bassline from a chicken cluck, and it worked! I created a synth from a chicken and also added in the skank. Then added the dog panting for momentum, recorded on Dartmoor during a walk.'

'Pray' is a 140 tune that will find home in meditative dubstep sets, yet sidesteps genre trappings with a deeply spiritual message and a sound that is somehow both dirge-like and uplifting. 'Pray' feels like an ancient initiation into a transcendent realm of bass music only glimpsed or hinted at before. About this one we will say no more, who feels it knows it.

Cymawax explores the far reaches of our sonic galaxy with its next 12 only release, an exciting seven song set from evocative Uruguayan-Norwegian vocalist Camilla Luna. Camilla is known as one half of Luna & Bazis on WahWah45s, with producer friend BHLB, and as vocalist for Trulz & Robin's releases on Eskimo and Dance Disorder's 'Metallic Italic (Bpitch Control). Her years of improvising vocals with musicians and DJs at renowned Oslo clubs like Blaa, Jeager, and The Villa have given Camilla a knack for accompanying electronic rhythms with haunting, tuneful melodies.
For the Open Up EP, Camilla joins producer BHLB for soulful and raw vocals recorded in one take over futuristic, bass-heavy, and delightfully offbeat tracks. The styles and tempos vary wildly, but the sound throughout is unified in a deceptively organic 'Ex Machina' woman-meets-machine vibe. In the title cut, the almost tribal percussion summons exotic, benevolent spirits when combined with Camilla's temptatious crooning. The twisted R&B of 'Wut R U Gwonna DO could almost be a secret collaboration with the likes of Flying Lotus. And 'F.O.C." transmits a slightly intimidating techno stomp that would make all heads on the dance floor turn towards the DJ and immediately take notice. These are just a few of the otherworldly audio nuggets found within the Open Up EP ... there are more treasures to unveil. Excavate soulfully.

Finally we can share the good news with you. Portland's Alter Echo & E3 duo are returning to Moonshine Recordings with another smashing release entitled 'Secrets'. Backed by Von D's Spring Dub Remix on the flipside. Out May the 4th on vinyl & digital.

The next Modern Hypnosis sees the first official vinyl release from Another Channel. The young German producer Jonas Schachners (Another Channel) has been at the fore front of the new wave of 'Dub Techno' that has been lurking in the underground over the last few years. His dubbed out analog sound has left some accrediting his productions as 'picking up where Rhythm & Sound left off'.

His debut 12' gives us two very unique tracks. The A side 'Lord 35' is an energetic synth driven tune which sitting at 135bpm, in a two-step style is made for the dance. The B side 'Corruption' sees an international connection with the original composition created in Germany by Another Channel, then the overdubbing of vocals supplied by Ethiopian vocalist Enushu Taye (The Black Jesus Experience) in her native Amharic, recorded and mixed by Mystik in his Melbourne studio. The warm analog stabs and punchy bassline accompanied with Enushu Taye's haunting vocals makes for a beautiful piece of music.

The Micronaut creates the soundtrack for those moments when the screeching of the subway and the steps on the wet pavement have echoed away into the dark city sky. Those moments when the ghosts of fumes and stop lights haunt the empty streets, when behind glowing windows dreams and urban exit strategies get ready for bed. When everybody is close to each other, but everyone is on his own. When the city comes to a standstill, but the wheels inside the heads of its inhabitants keep spinning. Stefan Streck discovers the musical equivalent for this epic atmosphere somewhere between Bass Music, Electronica and Pop. The cinematic soundscapes of his nocturnal City Blues have a somewhat tragic vibe, which is very noticeable both during the impulsive, passionate live shows of The Micronaut and on 'Forms', his third studio album on Acker Records, distributed through Kompakt. Between moments of deep melancholy and sudden eruptions of blissful euphoria he creates a feverish state of tension.

Arriving at the scene of the crime, the notorious vinyl imprint Albion Collective untethers their next musical drive-by in style. Keeping steady with their tradition of meticulously well-crafted releases, after a fulminant outing of Stepper's finest Digid & Dubbing Sun, Egoless on version duty - the label welcomes UK's heavy hitter Glume and Slovenia-based bass conjurer FLO to their roster.

Wisdom Teeth label head K-LONE revives his Wych imprint for an essential two-tracker of bleeping, melodic halfstep. Following on from the critically acclaimed 'Old Fashioned' EP - released last year on DJ Parris's Soundman Chronicles imprint - WYCH002 sees the young Londoner exploring his formative roots in dubstep and grime - albeit from a startlingly fresh, forward-facing perspective. The tracks loosely recall the off-kilter rhythms of early James Blake and Joe, but their psychedelic melodies have as much in common with the contemporary experiments of Leif, Peverelist and Duckett. Schmeichel represents a new generation of producers from Leipzig who like to tell personal stories with their music. He is processing and synthesizing elusive moments into sonic expansions that are unrivaled. Influenced by bass music of all kinds, footwork and juke from Chicago and breakbeat tracks from UK artist*s*, the former rock drummer became a live musician and explorer of deep electronica. From Defrostatica Records he received unconditional support for his dope tracks and found his unmistakably explorative and irresistible voice on his label debut Alteration EP.
'Evidence' is the suave overture of the 80/160 beats per minute EP. It evolves around a deep and grounded kick, filtered and vibrating pads into straying hi-hats and female vocals that breathe soul and are cheering at the same.
'IKillWantU' is a seven minute beast, with many hidden and interfering layers and elements like the dissected vocals, a distorted distant bass line and steady rimshot that guides through an intense trip.
With 'Talkin' we reach the spiritual center of the EP, a wonky beat among a reminiscent and unshackling choir of male chants over a heavy sub bass.

Wahever Records presents 'Morning Cartoon', a new venture combining drum machines and wind instrument harmonies, interspersed with percussion in wood and metal - humans breathing with an electronic heart.Recorded in London dreaming of faraway continents, sunny islands and banana trees.Paying respect to the Joy of Sound, a charity promoting social inclusion through music - a luminous organisation that provided the space for the artists on this record to meet. Their work reminds us that music is a way of sharing feelings and elevating ourselves.Morning Cartoon is a series of collaborations by London-based artist Matteo Boyero. The first track 'Homerton Air' features Robert Goldsmith on tenor sax. Tim Wall is on clarinet for 'Oool' and 'Simple Analog Pleasures'. 'Sampling the Joy Of Sound Redmond Files' is co-produced with Rodolphe d'Audiffret, with Nick Onley on tenor sax and flute; this track was previously released for the Joy of Sound and has been remastered for this release. As the title suggests, it contains samples from a concert by the Joy Of Sound. The artwork was created by Basile Carel and the special edition prints by Anonym Zelig.

We are very pleased to finally unleash ZamZam 62, a power-plate from New Zealanders LQ & Headland. We've been running both of these tunes on acetate for some time now, and the results are consistently devastating. Gene Warriner, better known in the sound system world as Headland, is a prolific producer of dark, multi-faceted bass music whose star has been rising via singles and EPs on Innamind, Unity Through Sound, and Well Rounded Dubs. Ben LQ AKA Low Quality is an accomplished producer and runs Echo Chamber Sound, the Dub/Steppas/Jungle vinyl label based in Melbourne Australia, dropping 10's and 12's since 2010. The collaborative 'Fat Neck' (a cheeky working title that we insisted on keeping) is all about space - dubbed, dusty samples flex and breathe, creating a tense, cinematic space laced with sparse, chopped reggae snares and metronomic hi hats. The lurching riddim is bonded by a web of Space Echo, spring reverb, and the saturation of LQ's vintage soundtracs desk for a minimal yet powerfully immersive tune.
Headland's solo 'Mineral Run' is a 140 workout that manages to weld 4/4 dub techno and half-time dubstep swagger into a rare, gleaming hybrid machine that causes mayhem every time it's dropped. 'Mineral Run' was also put through LQ's desk, unifying the sound of these two epics. The magic in both of these tunes is how deceptively simple they are, how easy LQ & Headland make it sound... but as every fan of sound system music knows, the proof is in the dance.

Insurmountable heat sliding through the cracks - no doubt, UK's Sentry imprint is at it again. DJ Youngsta's vinyl label is continuing its high-pressure output on dangerous 12' records. Routinely adding some of the worlds finest bass music artists to its roster, now welcoming none other than Gramz to its venerable discography. The notorious alter ego of Sleeper, highly respected producer and label operator (Crucial Rec.), takes a turn for the more aggressive & experimental side in Dubstep territory - firing up dance floors with its in-your-face attitude and Hip Hop inclined slack. Unadulterated gangster business, stirring the melting pot of forward-minded sound system music.

Setting the needle upon the grooves, we're met with the experimental bass onslaught anthem 'Dip Dip Potato Chip', immediately recognisable as the sought- after tune that it is, having lit up dance floors all over through the support of some of the most vital tastemakers in the scene. Detuned and distorted pulses scatter on a path paved with nothing but sinister intentions - pulling the trigger on its low frequency foundation and its corresponding loose drums. The sparse and effective instrumentation coupling its essence to a profoundly effective arrangement - taking the cake once again with the second drop. Swords and clanging armour rustle in the background as the characteristic vocal sample mayhem of 'Illa' locks keen listeners in a state of flow, being flung around from one unequivocally well-crafted break to another. Beats so dangerous, they ought to be classified - rewinds are to be expected.

Boutique Portsmouth-based label Hotplates Recordings unleashes its first vinyl, a two-track dubstep excursion from Hamburg producer OTZ.

Label manager of the noted Subaltern Records, OTZ has been crafting his sound since 2011 - combining detailed instrumentation with a dub-heavy backbone.

Side A, 'Tabloid', has received support from respected independent London station NTS, receiving airplay on NSX' Roll Thru show. The track is a guaranteed rig-shaker with a wonky, off-kilter structure.

Side B sees OTZ team up with fellow German heavyweights Causa and Conzi on the sub-filled 'Coin Dub' - a track that has been sought after by fans of the genre for a number of years.

Hotplates Recordings places its emphasis on the roots of UK electronic music culture, having grown out of a regular show on Portsmouth pirate and online station Lush FM. With this release the label aims to give fans a fresh take on the original dubstep sound, while also shedding light on the significant talent to have come out of the German scene in recent years.

Lore's debut on Kokeshi comes in the form of a 3-track EP featured on 180g heavyweight vinyl, with hand stamped Kokeshi logo. Lore's influences range from early dubstep, grime and garage, including artists like El-B, Burial, SP:MC, Blawan, Skream, Wiley and Mount Kimbie.
