It will blow your chest up with bass, make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and possibly wet yourself with excitement. That's only if you're lucky though. Then we have 'Trigger Happy' featuring Persist whose name I seem to be coming across quite a bit at the moment. This tune is great and can't really choose between this and 'Hangin''. Both are insane! Then last but not least is 'Sci Tech' which is on the deeper side. Great tune and a nice way to round off this great EP!

Continuing on this fruitful collaboration, this is the latest offering from the pair who have had their track played on the biggest, baddest systems across the world sincelast Summer.A: Activate - Corralling HENCH's resident demonic MC, Beezy, 'Activate' enters with a foreboding combination of tones and lyrics. But be warned, here comes a monster-bassline. This will literally drag you out of your chair like some possessed robot - driving, bashing, and twisting every which way. Re-enter Beezy with further sardonic rhymes and yet another dosage of the evil baseline. 'Activate' was created for subs that can handle their low-end frequencies. Use with caution - this is serious ammunition.AA: Dark Ages - Once again making use of Beezy's evil overtones, there is never any doubt which direction that 'Dark Ages' is heading in. Gatekeeper (A.k.A William Scott Cree) has been a fundamental part of the dubstep scene ever since it all began many years ago. He has played all over Europe, collaborated with headhunter, statix & komonazmuk (to name a few!) He's been a part of the infamous 'Hench', released tunes on 'if symptoms persists' and now joins the unstoppable force that is Screwloose records.Screwloose are proud to announce that the long awaited 'raw tones' and 'ignite' will be seeing a vinyl release within the first quarter of 2011. Both tunes have been supported by the likes of chase & status, jakes and Mary Anne Hobbs; who played it on her radio one show various times. Gatekeeper describes his sound to be somewhere between dubstep and grime but still keeping it within the 'Bristol sound' and that's exactly what he has achieved with both these massive releases. 'Raw tones' consists of unique sounding drums, dark bass lines and moody atmospheres, where as 'Ignite' boasts the classic gatekeeper sound and vocals from the infamous 'Dread Mc' and local hero 'Grillza'. He's kept his head low and his style underground, but gatekeeper continues to amaze us with his production and is backing down easily!

The ever-shady Downliners Sekt will complete their trilogy of EPs for Barcelona's Disboot label with the release of Meet the Decline. Following the excellent Hello Lonely, Hold the Nation and We Make Hits, Not the Public, a pair of EPs that took the formally post-rock duo and repositioned them somewhere between Autechre and Mount Kimbie (or, as our friends at Boomkat said, 'Mount Kimbie on crack'), Meet the Decline promises 'soul-filled gospel hymns for a technological apocalypse ... Mutated guitars wind their way around hypnotic digital syncopations and ghostly choral textures, uplifting and menacing in equal parts.' Bit like Christmas in the FACT office, then. Meet the Decline is penciled in for an April release date, but you know how these things go.

Normal service is resumed on Nu Directions, returning to 170BPM with an offering from some of the drum & bass scene's most forward-thinking producers, Triad. Triad is the name given to german duo Henree and Basstikal. Both established producers in their own right, their meeting of minds has given their productions new depth and a totally original approach to drum & bass. Releases on DSM, Critical and Horizons, plus their excellent remix of Omar's 'Lay It Down', have laid the foundations for what is to be a fruitful 2011 for this collaborative project. 'Crooked' is a shuffling minimal work-out which uses dense atmospheres and growling bass stabs to create a haunting mood, before breaking into it's techno fuelled, energy soaked finale. 'The Puzzle' again captures Triad's unique ability to create musical soundscapes. With light snappy beats and deep stirring synths creating a track that sounds as fresh today as it will in 10 years time, future music.
