Rob Ellis, AKA Pinch is the owner of one of the original and highly influential Dubstep labels Tectonic who have signed, developed and released music from some of the scene's biggest acts such as Joker, 2562, Cyrus, Digital Mystikz, Skream, Jack Sparrow and of course Pinch. Pinch is also founder of Subloaded, Bristol's finest Bass rave, who has recently celebrated their 6th Birthday. This is Pinch's first release on Mala's DEEP MEDi imprint and we feel it's his best work to date, we'll sure you'll agree. 'Swish' has been played relentlessly by Mala over the last year as well as a select lucky few able to get their hands on it such as Skream, Loefah, Youngsta and V.I.V.E.K. 'Swish' is classic Pinch, dark, moody and sparse, heavily influenced by Techno, with a sub- bass and kick to destroy any bass bin, pure soundsystem music. 'Tunnel Home' on the flip sees Pinch in experimental mode switching up the tempo, 155. This still has the Pinch trademark darkness and efx's but oozes a stealthily undercurrent and coldness with its complex drum programming and industrial approach, reminiscent of early Photek output.

Set for release on 27th June on their label Hot Flush, the EP follows the release of the 'Blind Night Errand' EP and will be the final release from the album.'Carbonated', the lead track on the EP is joined by two previously unreleased tracks, the buoyant, effervescence of 'Flux' and 'Bave's Chords', which showcase the lush, elegant percussive sound Mount Kimbie have become known for. 'Bave's Chords' was recorded around their early EP 'Maybes' and 'Flux' was created during the album recordings.Airhead, who's shortly releasing his own album on Brainmath and is member of James Blakes' live band, subtly twists 'Carbonated' with his remix, while Belgian producer & DJ Peter Van Hoesen creates a six minute dark techno rework for the dancefloor. 'Adriatic', also from 'Crooks and Lovers' is transformed completely by Klaus with his style of detailed production hitting the mark once more. 'Crooks and Lovers' defined Dominic Maker and Kai Campos as an original and exceptional duo whose musical output refuses to be pigeonholed. Abundant in paradoxes, the album floats through dubstep and hip-hop, jazz, techno, post-rock, UK garage, shoegaze, indie and film scores to startling effect.

Skream returns with his second 12' and it's a further exhibition of his freakish musical ability. Having been working on a number of projects this last year he's managed to squeeze time into his hectic schedule to make two remarkable tracks for Nonplus.a) Skream 'Exothermic Reaction' - 'Exothermic Reaction' has been doing the rounds on the DJ circuit for well over a year and has been patiently awaited by fans since its first airing on Rinse FM. Skream takes us deep into haunting graveyard territory with ghoulish effects and off beat creepy bass lines that send shivers down your spine. Snares crack like whips around your head whilst the lfo mid range stays well under control in a spellbinding and palpitating groove that subtly keeps the track evolving.aa) Skream 'Future Funkizm' - 'Future Funkizm' completely flips the script into the kind of one off track that comes out of Skreams mind every now and again and completely grabs you with its musical madness. Rolling beats coupled with a robo tone bassline set the scene for a synth masterclass that expands and contracts across the keys into a g-funk laden glimpse of the future.

The second release on New World Audio is a 4 track ep showcasing a variety of flavours from the producers in the camp. The title track sees Sukh Knight and Squarewave team up again after the success of their Hench release, this time on the tribal roller called Tribesman. Label boss Pinch flips the vibe back to 140bpm dubstep territories with his flipside remix, keeping things rolling and soulful but also heavily laced with a characteristic brooding sense of menace. No longer Belgium's best-kept secret, Francis is a high prolific beat-maker, baking his beat by the dozen, under an assortment of alliases: kingfisherg (on Carte Postale, Leaving Records and Wigflip), Sineshine (on Plynt), as a member of Bretzel Zoo (on Eat Concrete), or here (or on Surf Kill or Vlek) as Cupp Cave. DRUM & BASS BIZNESS FROM INTENSE

Canadian dubstep pioneers The Konspiracy Group celebrate ten years of bass science, ambient drift and sound system thought with their fourth release and second twelve inch, 'What It's Not' by Kuma. Standing as The Konspiracy Group' firmest statement to date, 'What It's Not' is an uncompromising slab of heavily swung dubstep that sounds like nothing else rocking floors today. Strings and chimes straight out of Detroit meet one of Kuma's finest basslines to date, and a rhythm that invokes the swing of classic Zed Bias and the grime of classic No-U Turn (or should that be, Turn U-On). Carrying on the vast tradition of vocal versioning that runs back to the early days of sound system culture, TKG took Kuma's rhythm and gave it to two of their favourite voices in dance music today. After hearing his work alongside the mighty Sub Swara crew, as resident of New York's legendary Dubwar night and as a solo artist of series flex, it made sense to hand 'What It's Not' to the voice of North American dubstep, MC Juakali. Using the base of Reese bass and strings as a platform, Juakali has laid down one of his most affecting vocals yet, striking both heart and head with this distinct rallying cry. On the flip, Stockholm-born Vancouver resident Amalia takes her multi-octave range and sweeping tones straight to the heart of the rhythm, reinterpreting the tune as 'Fall', a love song not only for the dance floor, but the people you meet on it too. Sheffield's Grievous Angel is one of the few artists out there really linking the lineages of noise and industrial with UK Bass and sound system culture, so asking him to take a swing at Juakali's versioning of 'What It's Not' made perfect sense. What came back is a 2-step remix as ornery as Throbbing Gristle making acid house, as rough as a Kingston sound system rhythm and as swinging as any classic Horsepower track. This is an EP that fights against conservative thinking in electronic music, informed by the lessons of history, and looking firmly to the future, finely honed at Transition for maximum impact.

It's a hard act following Champion's Motherboard EP, but Hardrive label boss Terror Danjah has pulled the trick off with aplomb, with this revisit of one of the biggest club tracks of last year, produced by Redlight. The original version was supported across the board, from the dubstep heavyweights such as Skream, Benga, Hatcha and Plastician, to the leaders of the eclectic DJ pack like Mistajam and Toddla T. Fast forward to 2011, and Bok Bok and Royal T join the fold to give the catchy vocals an update. Butterz loyalist Royal T has been on fire with remixes this year already for Wiley, Wretch 32, Yasmin, Kano and original production for P Money and young upstarts Kozzie & Merky Ace. Bok Bok has been a lot more selective with his music, only appearing on his own Night Slugs imprint and a few other big players such as Modeselektors Monkey Town Records. Along with the original redlight production, the Mz Bratt acapella is also included for all budding producers to lay down their own remix of one of the leading female MCs in the game.

DFRNT is the vowel-less moniker for Edinburgh's bass-music experimentalist Alex Cowles. Following his acclaimed debut on Echodub in 2009, 'Metafiction', DFRNT has carved a niche for his own style of deep, forward thinking dubstep and techno productions. This project, a year in the making, bore fruit after Alex was commissioned to remix Unquote's 'Cold Tenderness'. 'Emotional Response' is an extended player that ticks all the boxes. Stealthy musical outings 'True' and 'Slumber' sit perfectly alongside dancefloor jaunts 'Faster Daddy' and 'Relentless' while the euphoric 'Short Bus' typifies everything that great about bass-music at the moment. Throw the emotional 'So Far Away' and the heavily dub influenced 'Rampant Behaviour' into the mix and you have an eclectic collection of tracks that define Alex's DFRNT sound.
