Jack Stevens aka Sully has become somewhat of a cult figure in the jungle world with his output being in high demand. His work is unmistakable. It’s always true to it’s origins while simultaneously adding new takes and juxtapositions in palette and composition. A true artist that excels in his field.
Stevens returns to Astrophonica with Swandive, a body of work presented in dual energies - dark & light, body & mind, Yin & Yang. In Werk you’re put to the test physically as es- ki-like percussion stabs grab the attention and demand a response. A staple in Fracture’s DJ sets for the last year or so.
Poison demonstrates a side to Stevens’ production that is harder, meaner, cruder and all together more brutal than he is known for. The result is an infectious mix of venomous bass and corrupted drum breaks fit to kill any dance.
The title track Swandive begins to counterbalance the fierce energy and bring some harmony opening with calming strings and trademark icy melodies before elevating to an intense state of amen divinity that twists and turns in a story like fashion.
Memories completes the balance with euphoric bass stabs and emotional strings culminat- ing in a searing and conclusive anime-like solo. Some of Stevens’ most daring work. The cycle is complete.

Not content with already laying waste with multiple exhibitions of villainy previously on Droogs and UVB, Holsten returns from the depths to inflict more destruction with his latest salvos for Droogs.
“Hidden Figures” blacks out right from the top with insidious pads, phantom force knocks, filthy Reece and a reverberating clock bell that signals the witching hour is upon us.
“Strident” shoots poison darts through the tree line with cascading breakbeats, soundman call outs, more nefarious Reece sweeps and chest out Jungalist bravado.

The brightly emerging light that is Settle Down is back with two DJ exclusives that hark back to the exciting. DIY creation ethos that blossomed during Jungle’s heyday.
‘Overgrown’ draws inspiration from by some of the classic ‘Jungle Mania’ tracks of the early 90s and was written with raves like the Notting Hill Carnival in mind. A recognisable yet twisted sample interlaced with a sprinkling of Jungle’s most important building blocks come together to form a potent DJ weapon for the party, for the good times.
Double AA side ‘London Jungle’ brings 1993 rapidly bundling into 2023. Hooked around a handful of classic lines from one of the music’s most important documentary's, the track acts as a commentary on the genre’s current popularity and the excitement that has been rekindled around it.
As with some of the best and most highly sought after plates of the 90s, these two brand new heaters from Settle Down will be vinyl only DJ exclusives, with no digital available.

From a lifetime dedicated to the craft of jungle and breakbeat culture, Yorobi steps up on Sneaker Social Club to deliver her first solo EP. Her prior outing on wax alongside Tim Reaper in 2020 built on years immersed in the scene as a DJ, from her first moves on pirate radio and at underground dances in Amsterdam through to her frequent presence at vital dances like Rupture. She’s worked with the likes of Sun People and dropped heat on labels such as Repertoire, Planet Wax, Parallax and Exit, but now is the time for her to present the full scope of her creative vision across five expansive forays into inventive D&B abstractions, mutant electro and inverted ambient soundscapes.
There are familiar threads detectable in melodic brushstrokes or sharply angled drum edits on these tunes, perhaps calling to mind the most innovative corners of the Logical Progression compilations, a splash of braindance here or a hidden corner of a Photek LP there, but such impressions are juxtaposed with idiosyncratic swerves which make Yorobi’s work entirely her own. Drawing on intensely personal themes through her own rendition of the traditional spiritual ‘Motherless Child’ and indulging her own tangential experiments deconstructing 80s dancehall, reflecting on the limitations of psychology and channeling her inner Aphex, Yorobi runs at the extended play format with an unbound energy which makes for some of the most effervescent, inventive rollers we’ve heard in a long time. If you thought everything that needed to be said in drum & bass had been already expressed through decades of drops, think again.

Friske drops off another couple of missiles on his burgeoning personal imprint, continuing the running theme of previous releases showcasing the light versus dark duality of authentic underground drum & bass.
“Dark Assemble” is trademark Friske Rufige, constructing a b boy tear out around the classic “assembly” break, cutting and scratching it’s famous vocal snip up and over a snarling analog thud.
Flip for “Principles”, a spacious floaty affair of languid keys, distant vocals, and aqua line riffs propped up by pulsing 808, spoken word and clean stepping beats to temper the raucous A side

An apocryphal, looping swarm of deep, sunken percussion gravitating the soul to the furthest reaches of the jungle, across two sides of improvisational moods and cassette sketches from Gaia Tones.
This blissful, revelatory collection of spiritual dance rhythms reflects the pure essence of the ‘GT’ approach, providing insightful odes to the mother Sun Goddess; infiltrating urban zones with unmistakably dub-driven aesthetics and sound mathematics. Zone in, zone out, allow Gaia to transport the oneness of the Mind. Total playing time: 40 minutes, limited copies, in hand stamped and painted artwork.

Tracking at 170 and 130 beats per minute respectively, Pessimist asserts himself with drawn out apprehensive intros on both tracks leading to tribal drums and weighty basslines on WPN-1 and percussive hardcore-esque breaks and tones on WPN-2. A triumphant return for one of the labels finest.

Title paraphrase of the legendary British film the crying game, track titles that refer to stories of Philip dick or William Gibson, melancholic pads a la Derrick May and jazzy melodies compose a hybrid of acid and drum and bass that brings to mind the braindance and breakcore sound of the UK . Planet Mu welcomes back Meemo Comma for her third album 'Loverboy'. 'Loverboy' is a shift in gear from Meemo Comma’s previous works, speeding up the tempos and rhythms, it's set in the nineties with trance, breakbeat hardcore and jungle as some of the influences. After playing a club gig in Spain as lockdown rules were loosening, Rix-Martin was reminded of the power music and people coming together creates. ‘Loverboy’ is peppered with influences from friends past and new as well as artists that have transformed the sound of Meemo Comma over the years, including Autechre, Guy Called Gerald, Orbital and Shitmat as well as others. On this journey we follow ‘Loverboy’ through the club as the night builds and different characters are met, from dropping the first pill to a euphoric ‘Cloudscape’ whilst waiting in the queue, to meeting some shady sorts in ‘Loneheath’. The album changes pace throughout with different rooms of the club being explored which add to the brevity of Rix-Martin’s production style on tracks such as 'Kyle' and 'AK47'. What started as a personal joke about Rix-Martin’s background formed a narrative for some darker, cheeky breaks that echo back on title track ‘Loverboy’, a track that Rix-Martin describes as “working class gender euphoria”.Maybe the mask has come off, and the shackles of pseudo-intellectualism have been put to rest for an honest, fun and ‘propa cheeky’ rave album instead.

Chris MsDos has been knocking out releases since 2010 on various labels including Good Looking, Criterion, Skeleton, Fokus and Basswerk. Chris has dug into the archives and has built as a proper banging EP of ravers delights! Upbeat and high energy, this EP is one you can play from beginning to end and then over again. Fire up those lazers and reach up!

Dj Beeno is a relative newcomer to old skool music, but an old hand in the Kniteforce world, with a few very strong releases under his belt on Kniteforce digital, and then on Kniteforce White (both EPs selling out in under two weeks), not to mention numerous high profile remixes. In other words, this debut on Kniteforce proper is long overdue. As always, he brings his playful and chaotic style to this EP, includint his trademarked cheeky samples and unexpected twists and turns, always keeping that authentic anarchic vibe that the original old skool masters did with such ease…In short, this will sell fast and be one to remember…

Fabio & Grooverider have been at the forefront of UK dance music for over 3 decades. This is the roots of their story told through music. The 2 London DJ's are part of the DNA of the global Jungle / D&B movement and they have remained relevant, cutting edge, authoritative and essential to this truly underground art-form since it's inception. RAGE could arguably be the ground zero of Jungle. The party was started at London's cavernous Heaven club by Fabio & Grooverider in 1988, at the height of Acid House fever that was making it's way up and down the motorways, slip-roads, fields and warehouses of the M25 and further beyond every weekend, troubling the nation, the police, your parents and the press as it went. RAGE was a different beast, it certainly channelled some of that Acid energy but pitted it against the new and exciting sounds emanating from Belgium, Amsterdam, Detroit, Sheffield, Essex and Hackney and in turn created a new style, a new sonic attitude and energy in the process. Rumbling bass-lines, narcotic synth rushes and roughly chopped and sped-up breakbeats all merged into a style that we now know as Jungle. Nothing like this had been heard before, this was a brand new style and it was coming out of London's West End and Fabio & Grooverider were the people firmly behind it. RAGE is approaching its 30th anniversary. Its sonic and cultural legacy is still being felt today, Fabio & Groove are still shutting down raves and festivals every weekend all over the world with their superior DJ sets and musical knowledge guided by their pioneering spirit. This musical selection you hold in your hands, the first of 4 parts, sees them delve into their prodigious memories and record boxes to select a true musical representation of the very beginning of one of the UK's most unique and influential musical movements of the last 50 years. Across 4 x 2 x 12"s compilations we are taken on the journey through the sounds of RAGE, accompanied with track by track notes from Fabio & Groove themselves. This is the sound of the underground, from the inside out. This is a masterclass in the old-school. The roots. There is no filler here, it's simply ALL killer. Lovingly selected and programmed by the masters - 'The Living Shock' & 'The Ladies Choice'. Produced in conjunction with Above Board distribution and Fabio & Grooverider. All tracks mastered from original sources and fully licensed. Mastering by Optimum, Bristol. Artwork and design by Atelier Superplus. 2019

Following on from the Bewildered 2018 Remix/Re-master E.P., respected 90’s D&B imprint Odysee Recordings presents its 2nd release in this series; a digital re-master and remix of No Tomorrow. Originally released in 1995 (ODY05), this track featured on the second E.P. under the ‘Mirage’ moniker; a collaboration between Jim Baker (Source Direct) and Odysee’s founder Tilla Kemal (T-Mirage).
The original is a timeless and well-loved classic from the golden era of the mid 90’s ‘Intelligent D&B movement’. It displays Jim’s celebrated skills as both a producer and an arranger to their full; building an emotive and haunting piece around two contrasting motifs. The trademark Source Direct breakbeat work is in play on this track as it switches between Clive Stubberfield and Lyn Collins; the curling drums providing the perfect framework for Tilla’s abstract sample selection to really breath and flow.
Andy Odysee’s modern remix retains all the original samples and references both the original break selection and the shape of the original arrangement. This modern D&B version then injects a turbo-charged energy into the piece with a huge undulating sub, aggressive techno-styled chord stabs and pounding kick & snare that thrust this track into the 21st century. The haunting sweetness of the piece is by no means lost, but the melodies are now presented over a framework designed with modern D&B dance floors firmly in mind.

We first met DJ X-cess back in 1995 when he was running Atmospheric Records in the Dalkeith Indoor Market Arcade In Bournemouth Town centre. At the time he was part of Dj Trio The X-men along with X-fade & X-cite and a resident at Madisons Nightclub which was about to close down.
Later X-cess would go onto form the International DJ/producer outfit The Organ Donors with his brother Scott – they have toured the world and released on labels such as Defected, Armada, Tidy Trax , Nukleuz and more. The photo used on the label of this release is X-cess behind the counter in his record shop back in the day.
We have pressed this record in Atmospheric Turquoise - as close a colour match we could get to the paint on the walls in Atmospheric.

Odysee Recordings is proud to present the 3rd in the series of digital re-masters and remixes of selected classics from the back catalogue. Originally released in 1995 (ODY03), A Different Groove featured on Source Direct’s second release on the label and sits alongside other early classics such as Fabric Of Space, A Made Up Sound and the slightly later Complexities.
From the superbly engineered breakbeats to the expert arrangement and deftly placed samples, this has all the trademarks of early Source Direct and clearly demonstrates why these productions are so highly regarded. The use of space is remarkable (especially for the time) and as such this is something of a precursor to the celebrated Hokusai releases of 1996-97.
Built around the same selection of breaks and samples, Andy Odysee’s remix delivers a modern take on the classic Source Direct template. In this 21st century version, the art is very much in the detail. Jimmy McGriff’s ‘Worm’ is rebuilt to pack a harder and quicker punch supported by a cocktail of other breakbeats, classic Hip-House style bass stabs and trademark synth bass curls. Once again Andy demonstrates his ability to balance a respectful senstivity to the vibe and design of the original, whilst simultaneously reworking the various musical elements and adding spice to give them that modern twist.
