The Islander Ep is Jet Li's second release on Function. His first release collaborates with the mighty Calibre (Func 045); they've also recently featured on Shelf Life 7 with a fantastic track called 'Black Mountain'.

Hospital Records’ Whiney is ready to cause disorder, serving up his second drum & bass serving of the three-part ‘Bubblers’ series: ‘Bubblers Part Two’. With expectations soaring after his sickening introductory release, ‘Part Two’ lives up to the promise as he continues to mould, develop and expand his slick signature sound.
Deep, dark and bubbly, Whiney goes in hard with all four killer tracks on the EP. Watch out for the lyrical chaos from former Pendulum MC, Ben Verse, and regular soundsystem-shaker, Parly B, too.
Whiney plunges us into the ‘Deep End’ with track one. We’re surrounded by a mist of eerie ambience, then, as militant drums build, Ben Verse leads the way as his unflinching lyrical flow lights the way to Whiney’s bouncy bassline business. Descending low-end frequencies shatter the underground as we channel
deeper until we’re briefly struck by an aurora of sacred strings before being spat back out into an earth-rattling dystopian world..
Next we’re ‘Caught Up’. Woozy air raid siren-like pads unsettle the soul before we’re forced to accept our fate: ‘Everybody ring the alarm!’. Whiney showcases his ability to detonate blood-curdling bassline patterns, destined to crumble ceilings in one crunch.
‘Old Flame’ moves into lighter territories, conjuring up a hazy daydream that bubbles along with mind-bending swagger. Vocal snippets dart in and out of consciousness with soothing sub hits and spiralling wobbles. Whiney rolls out in style with ‘Roll Out’. With fire-starting lyrical flow from miccontroller Parly B, who’s featured on soundsystem-stoppers with the likes of Mungo’s HiFi and Gentleman’s Dub Club, it’s tearout jungle-rhythm has been especially cooked up with reggae-tinged guitar plucks over a tidal wave of screwface-inducing rumbles, squelches and snaps. With an impressive back catalogue, including two albums, ‘Talisman’ and ‘Waystone’ released on the recently closed Med School imprint, and now two gamechanging solo releases on Hospital, there’s no denying that Whiney will keep pushing boundaries. * In 2018 Brazilian producer L-Side released his highly anticipated album 'Carnal Mind'. Taking his influence from Hip Hop artists, L-Side made his mark with his meticulous mix of upfront and aggressive sounds merged with funk and soul styles, forging a flawlessly fresh take on drum and bass.
* Three years on since the release of the album L-Side has continued to grow and has captured the attention of the whole scene! Recents releases 'Zaga Dan' & 'Steppa Dub' gained huge support from a wide selection of D&B DJs as well as radio support from Annie Mac, DJ Target, Giles Peterson, Rene LaVice and many more. With remixes of his own for Hospital Records, Spearhead and more out now or en route, L-Side decided to take a look back at this project and has linked up with some of his favourite producers from to deliver a huge 4 track EP 'Carnal Mind Remxied'.
* All four remixes have been receiving great support both before and during lockdown with Break, Dogger & Mindstate and label mates Alibi all putting their signature spin on some of the highlights from the album. Missing returns on his Sub System Recordings label with some 80's inspired vibes. For this outing he has teamed up with Skeleton Army (John from Foul Play) and the pair have gone in proper! To take things down the heavier jungle route, Tim Reaper was called in to strip it down and build it back up in the way only he knows how.

From his early days in Dublin with the Bassbin label to working with the likes of Calibre,4 Hero, Klute, Alix Perez, Rockwell and Noisia, Zero T has never stood still. We're proud to finally welcome this very talented artist to the Fokuz Recordings roster!

With the Dice Game EP Zero T delivers two diverse tracks with his signature sound plastered all over. The A side is an infectious dark roller with plenty of growls and enough pressure to keep the dancefloor going. Brazilian producer 'Bungle' returns to Thirtyone Records with his sophomore EP for the renowned British outlet for all things drum & Bass. Doc Scott curates the label closely
and has selected four Bungle cuts that all have that same prolific vibe to them.

''Cocooned EP'' opens up with the sublime and dark title song. 'Cocooned' revolves around
a savvy bass cut and Bungle's signature big drums. 'Distance' is a special piece with a
gigantic pad at the centre of the song.

The big and jazzy hats are compilmenting the rhythm nicely while splashes of FX are cleverly being used throughout.
'Eclipse' is a nervous electronic cut with a thumping feel to it. Tech sounds, distortion and ethereal sounds
are moulded to a buldging piece of dancefloor music. On the last position of the 'Cocooned EP'
tracklist we find 'Impulse'. This track stands for: huge drums, deep bass sounds and a very ominous atmosphere

Multi-faceted artist Calibre today shares his sixteenth studio album "Feeling Normal". The album is out now to pre-order on Vinyl, CD and on digital platforms via his own independent imprint Signature Recordings.

The record is his first bonafide 140bpm record and a staggering body of work that shows the genius levels of one of electronic music's most respected auteurs. Across the 13 tracks, he transcends through space and time, creating music that will take the listener on a weighty sonic journey. The album announcement is accompanied by two dub versions "Bad" and "Badder" deconstructed from the track "Badman" with DRS from Mark Ernestus available via his Hardwax store January 29th and Bandcamp February 12th. "Getting to work with Mark Ernestus is a real honour, I collected Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound and his other work for many years and still do. It's hard to avoid the influence of this guy in electronic music across genres and so it is a real pleasure to have him do his thing with the Badman tune which I think sounds closely related."

All of the tracks on the record have been road-tested in Calibre's DJ sets over the last 2/3 years with many of them being sought-out by his hardcore fans. It was only a matter of time then that he put them out for all to consume. With a nod to the dancefloor, the clear idea for the album came about following the release of his most personal album to date "Planet Hearth". "It still works in the headspace but ultimately it's been written for the sweaty club experience we miss now, also after an album like Planet Hearth it felt very liberating to do," he remarks. When writing albums, he often just puts it down to the general chaos of life, not citing any one influence but generally just waits to see what comes. With one of the tracks on the album written 7 years ago on the island of Valentia, It became a project that he spent the intervening years collecting tracks for, not really knowing when he was going to put it together as an album. "The whole album is special to me, everything on there has import and meaning beyond for me, I have spent much time on all these and hope they are special for other people too."

Belfast-born, Berlin-based Calibre - AKA Dominick Martin - shows no sign of slowing down. As a producer, DJ, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and painter, he is one of the most unique and inspiring living artists. With a career spanning two decades, his ability to remain underground whilst being one of the most-respected is testament to who this enigmatic artist is. To this day, he has never been remixed and has a seriously impressive amount of unreleased music under wraps. With everything on hold and gigs on the backburner, this record is exactly what the world needs right now.

Crashead has been on a hiatus. A 27 year hiatus to be fair! Originally he released on the Bionic Sound label out of Essex. His affiliation was through the glory years of hardcore into the early jungle era of 1993 and 1994. Then he stopped producing as life got in the way and adult distractions took him into other directions. But in recent times, his music on the Bionic Sound label has increased in popularity, with some of his original tracks on the label, written with label boss Doughbwoy, are fetching high prices on Discogs. The most sought after of his early releases being the ‘Two Evil Eyes’ 12” which has gone for more than £170 a copy!

DJ Trace founded 117 records in 2013 and now drops his first solo release on the imprint with 'Retox' this winter. Deep rolling techstep is the vibe, each track a reflection of moments from the raves of the 90's. Now that the world faces an uncertain and dystopian future, Retox can provide a suitable soundtrack.

This is the 4th ep that continues a volume of a 5 ep project. Its own kind of album type edition so to speak. Destination celebrates the drum and bass genre with its own style reminiscent of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. type programming. It fuse’s eclectic beats with a more common flow of bass licks that cruise throughout the track. With a more psychedelic presence this track offers a complexity of rich sounds that will encapsulate any avid lover of electronic music from the headphones to the dance floor. Bouncy and fun yet with deep exploration of ‘Abstract sounds’ bringing a serious edge, Destination is equipped for any explorer seeking any type of Destination. Then comes Arrival. Not an ordinary piece of music, with the artist expressing themselves from past musical influences, to curve their own piece of storytelling art, through audio sonic means. An inner world reflective explanation can be as follows - An epic piece revealing the adventures of seeking depth, from ones dense conscious reality, tribal like mannerisms, traveling to a higher frequency of light and wonder, breaking through to the heart centre of ones own unique truth. By doing so, welding together the whole aspects of being, Arriving at ones own true balance of self. Reuniting with the dense tribal like self yet with a complete transformative understanding of life and self in relation to life as a whole. Ones outer world of reflective explanation can be this - starting from earth, leaving the tribal terrains of earth based reality, exploring out into the cosmic wilderness, looking back from a distance, witnessing Earths magnificence and enigmatic beauty. Continuing to swim out to the depths of the galaxy to ‘Arrive” at an unexpected splendour unknown to the human consciousness ,to a cosmic giant….. giant what? This remains to be unseen! It’s left to the imaginators discretion of wonder within the experience of the audio sonic delights presented in,….. ‘Arrival’.

The first EP from Nottingham’s like-minded music collective, Plates.
Originally established as a record shop and now a record cutting studio and music community, this EP showcases sounds close to its core and original supporters.

A1 is a track salvaged from a box of long-lost cassette tapes dating back to the mid-90s, bursting with raw and uplifting grooves, a soundtrack to moody city nights in Nottingham. Facehugger a long-time friend and supporter of Plates, alongside musical partner, Mark Warden aka DeviantRIP brings a tearing live analogue jam mashed together on a Roland 202, 808, 909 and JD800 - ave it!

A2 offers a completely different take on the typical ‘jungle’ style. Citizen Griot, an already prolific local beatmaker, better known for his hip-hop grooves and collaborations with local rappers, brings moody and enchanting jazz club vibes over subtle but constantly moving breakbeats.

B1 is the first ever ‘finished’ track from Plates founder, DJ Squid who has spent the last 10 years focusing on DJing and wasting precious time. This tune dedicates his love for early 90s jungle, and hardcore with the roots of soul, rare groove, weird library music and the simplicity of hand-picked samples, an MPC 2000XL and a dust-covered Mackie mixing desk.

B2 brings you back down to earth in a smoky spaced-out back room courtesy of long-time crate digger and local hero Mr Wilson. Head-nodding beats cushioned by a soothing bassline and hypnotic chords that surround you and carry you away to another dimension that is neither new or funky.

This record is dedicated in memory of Rita, Philpotts, Pete Woosh, Adam XTC and Harry McCormick.

Here it its, our 1st reference available under the name of 'Warriors Beat' On side A we find an authentic Warrior hymn performed by producer NuBreakz, he fuses a huge bassline nad melodies with nu skool references. In the inner section we find a new track by Mr. Jose Morales previosly in the group "Sigma 7" and entitled "Unfix Beat", where we will listen to a new and powerful track loaded with vowels, sequences and recognizable rhythm changes that have always characterized them.

Canadian-based producer Rumbleton returns after his remix on AKOism 3 to release his solo EP on an AKO Beatz. 4 carefully constructed tracks that take you on a journey, Rumbleton engineering skills are next level and we call him the beat master at AKO. A1 You And Me' is sci-fi influenced drum funk tune. At the beginning only beauty passes through, revealing a place you desire to be. A relaxing environment to come home from work to. Then, an abandoned warehouse in an city like in Blade Runner pumps out a rave. A jungle rave in deep space. Get ready. It's just You And Me.

A2 Like A Rebel' has Elvin Jones talking about his drumming. To get you started, jazz piano softly brings you into a smoke filled drum funk jazz club in space. An underlying sense of weightlessness has you catatonic in as the Funky Mule break sets it off and you're once again nodding your head to the groove. Nice pad breakdown before the outro.

B1 You Are Here' employs a sturdy intro with a There are forces in this world' vocal that has you on edge. After the intro settles, before the Amen science drops, you are in a smoke filled, computer generated room waiting for your train to arrive to take you to the party. This is a journey tune so enjoy it!

B2 Get Dropped' used Black Pearls Cold Sweat' break. The DJ friendly intro gets you started. A little knowledge about big record labels makes you think some. Then comes the signature martianMan smokey space vibes before the drop. Tune rolls nicely but wait for the rave stabs and niceness pads during the last stretch.

Piezo returns to Facta and K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint with a 5 track EP of experimental, warping, majestic club music. Since his last outing on the label, the Milanese producer has refined and consolidated his aesthetic considerably: through a spree of crucial releases on his own label, Ansia, and then with the release of his essential debut LP, Perdu (released in 2020 on experimental powerhouse Hundebiss). LSD Superhero sees him bring together the goofy, club-ready aspects of his output on Ansia with the meticulously crafted cybernetic sonics of his debut LP, but with the addition of something new: melody. The title track opens the record with house lights up: glitching percs build around gasseous pads and trembling subs in a drawn out climax that finally collapses into a rolling technoiddembow beat at its midpoint. Next, ‘Unto’ squeezes the producer’s wonky, sub-heavy sonics into a 4x4 template - one of those special 5 am tracks that will appeal equally to dubsteppers and minimal heads. (Remember that time Shackleton appeared on Perlon?). ‘TB2’ - a collaboration with label head K-LONE - balances nectar sweet melodies with bust-up drums and glitching FX hits, while ‘Dijitz’ sees him flex his full melodic knack for an eyes down, half-stepping synth workout. To close, ambient wobbler ‘Xxx^_^x’ refracts bass music sonics into something sprawling and shadowy - like an old Benga track exploded and

The first release under Richard Wilson's Rognvald alias kickstarts the new WIFE series with four solid punches of breakfueled rave mania. The pitch black title track "R.O.G.N.V.A.L.D" serves as a fierce introduction to his fresh material with its epic scale combination of relentless drum work and meticulous arrangement. Up next is the hefty chunk of "Whistle Posse", all rude basslines and rave whistles finely tuned for maximum dancefloor damage.

"Lowcol Junglist" opens the B-side with it's masterfully slick drum control and enormous bass drops followed by the subterranean drum hypnosis of closer "Asbiorn". This is bass charged jungle warfare apparatus with a modern ruffneck flex from a man who knows how to murder the dance with precision.

New from Jungle Cat Recs. comes a double A side release with a positive message of anti racism. The A side features original lyrics written and performed by a true 90s dancehall/reggae legend ‘General TK’ with an aim of being a 2020 anthem to keep positivity at a high, in these negative times. The AA side is more of a dub influenced amen rinse out, again with a similar message. The high quality full colour sleeve is also inkeeping with this message.
