Infest & Quasi - Mercury / The Law - Emptiness Is Form

Infest & Quasi - Mercury...
This is a track we signed in our early days back in 2009, when Infest was just starting to make his mark in certain D&B circles. Fresh from his release on Paradox's Outsider compilation "The Age Of Outsiders Vol.2", we quickly snapped up "Mercury" along with "Rising Son" for our third digital release. Fast forward to 2016 we think this one deserves a limited vinyl pressing.

The Law - Emptiness Is Form...
Another tune from 2009, and without doubt Law's darkest solo production, Emptiness Is Form moves like a ninja in the shadows, taking samples from cult flick Ghost Dog, alongside paranoid strings and cutting razor sharp breaks. Paying tribute to the dark atmospheres of Intense and Source Direct, Emptiness Is Form demanded the move from digital to vinyl.

Skeptical / Skeptical & Dub Ph - Cold One / Fallen Angel

BIG TUNE!! So much attention this year has been on the minimal sounds within drum & bass.
Skeptical, a name creeping up the chain, has really honed this skill of keeping it minimal yet powerful. 'Cold One' is arguably his finest tune to date. Bringing back the hoovers, while delivering a totally fresh style, this is a must have tune. Dub Phizix from Manchester, is another new name, but with a slew of releases on big labels pending it won't be long before he becomes a buy on sight artist. This co-lab with Skeptical is absolutely dangerous, watch the bassbins, i'm telling ya!

Torakiki - Avesom

Avesom

Symbiotic Cube
29.08.2016

Avesom (name inspired by the dog of Justin Bennett, the sound technician that mixed the album) are creations produced during long reharsals sessions that have taken place mostly during sunsets and late nights. There Torakiki inmersed themselves in a trip where the music achievable with their own finger was tested, rejecting in advance any programming.
The overall sound of the album follow the path of the previous EP, halfway between the new wave and ambient . The band aims references from Aphex Twin, Liars, Jamie XX and on the other side, classical sounds from the Italian song. In the album participate the voice of Ilaria Ippolito (# #Pap ) and of G ulia Olivari (O .A.U .). The video of Luxard was shot by Giovanni Aloi in a park in Hong Kong.
Torakiki filled the pieces of A vesom with a strong dynamic identity, combining the creative impulses of the three minds and their respective backgrounds. This is a process that questions the logic through a frenetic impulse that provokes constant changes, even though the final result are attainable and catchy songs.

Threshold - Broken Souls Ep

Skeleton Recordings brings you their sixth release, THRESHOLD - BROKEN SOULS EP.

Available as a 3 track transparent red 12' vinyl.

Threshold grew up listening to roots, reggae and hip-hop, and quickly gravitated towards the turntables.
In the 90's, influenced by Manix and 4Hero, he discovered hardcore / jungle, playing on stations such as Storm FM, Upfront & Flex FM, which respectively lead to engineering & production.

During this time he worked as an engineer for the legendary Eskimo Noise which provided the install for Metalheadz renowned 'Blue Note Sessions' and a little later started releasing with signings under the name 'Special Branch'. Early 2000 also saw signings to fundamental label Reinforced alongside Breakage and also under a separate alias 'Espionage'. 15 years on and Threshold is a firm fixture in the Rupturecrew & still true to the roots jungle sound, releasing music on Rupture LDN, Foundation X and his own imprint Dub Clinique

Don't Ask Me Why - This mystical Amen rollout has been getting a lot of love and shows yet another angle to Thresholds diverse production skills. The beats hit hard from the get go and the sub heavy bass will definitely rumble your insides for sure.

Cavernous Heart - The sound of a beating heart sets the tone on this track, which has a dark yet a very emotional, almost sinister feel to it. Without a doubt, this one will take over your mind and soul as the beats take you on a journey.

Blizzard - This track was a very long time in the making, with Threshold trying to work his drum funk around the

vocal. Anyone who understands production and drum pattern editing will know just how much blood, sweat and tears has been put into it.

Nitri - Enoughzs Enough (feat. Drs) / Poltergeist (feat. Sense Mc) / Torment

* Brazilian wonder Nitri teams up with two of the scene's most impressive MCs for his new single, the first to be
taken from his brand new forthcoming album. HZN092 sees him collaborate with DRS on 'Enough's Enough'
and Sense MC on 'Poltergeist'. Plus, there's another track on the physical release, and a digital exclusive to
boot.

* Nitri has had major success with music on labels like Viper, V, Metalheadz and Horizons. His style is serious,
musical and innovative, with support along the way from Andy C, Friction, Hype, dBridge and more.

* The new Nitri album promises much, so prepare yourself by checking out HZN092.

* 'Enough's Enough' is both heavy and expressive. The intro will straight up stop you in your tracks, with DRS's
voice filtered away in the mix, dropping in with the beat. The track develops as you listen, with riot noises
backing a trickling, ripping drum set and finely handled bass. You won't be used to this, this is something new.
Minimal, direct, but completely essential.

* Watch out for the 'Poltergeist', as Sense MC explains. A tale of paranoia and life on the edge is told over sparse,
emphatic beats and hypnotic effects. Nitri's music is always alive, always active, always drawing you into the
pictures he is painting. He always does something different, and his talents know no bounds. Darkside bass
slides in later on this one, as Sense continues his story, until you are utterly convinced.

* 'Torment' rolls along on an early break, employing the funk right from the go. Things lift up later, with Nitri
uniting his desire for the new with a deep knowledge of the founding of our music. Raising synths lead the way,
as the true flavours win out all the way until the end.

* One amazing release from Nitri, with much more music to come.

Ish Chat Music
29.03.2016

Something fresh for 2016 as the SpectraSoul duo of Jack Stevens and David Kennettprepare to launch their very own label, Ish Chat. Musically rich and diverse as ever, the'Only You EP' offers an array of beautifully crafted drum & bass on a stage that will see them spread their sound even further in the future.

"Ish Chat Music is the brand new platform for SpectraSoul music, and we're very excited about it.

As artists, we have always written lots of different types of music and we wanted to create a vehicle to present some of those varied styles in a shorter format as opposed to an LP. With Ish Chat, we can now release music at a higher frequency and with greater variation than ever before. With this first release we have compiled 4 very different tracks that reflect just a few of the styles that we have worked with over the years.

We never imagined that we would run our own label, but when it came to it we realised that it was the best way for us to steer the direction of both our music and the accompanying visuals, aspects which we have always been very passionate about.

We can't wait to get things up and running, and plans are already afoot for ISHCHAT002!"

Tehbis & Touchy Subject - Magnet For Your Mindlabel: Cyberfunk

London's Tehbis and Touchy Subject land on Astrophonica with Magnet For Your Mind, a joint EP that represents the yin and yang of their creativity. Produced without overthinking, the EP's six tracks are split into distinct halves: one built for the dancefloor, the other for the headphones. 'We use a multitude of platforms to write our music,' says the pair, who have made quiet moves over the past five years with releases on Brownswood Recordings, Numbers, and Wot Not. 'Digital production, live instrumentation, samples, live vocals. Hopefully the result is music that people can relate to and vibe off.'

The A side caters to the dancefloor with three uptempo cuts. '1988' is the first production the pair finished together, a mellow slice of chopped ragga jungle built on booming 808s and floating arpeggiated melodies that dance around the beat. This is followed by 'Harrangutan', aka 'the piglet beat', a quick burst of adrenaline to your neck that channels the stripped-back aesthetics of the beat scene and its less-is-more approach. 'Kush' closes the dance with more ragga-tinged vibes but this time in a leaner dub stance, live bass playing off a shifting rhythm track and vocal samples rippling off a cavernous sonic interior.

Flip over to the B side for the soundtrack to the ride home after a night out. The cinematic 'Elephants In The Room' kicks it off with a bubbling groove, the rhythm switching between double and half time as sampled chants play against warm synthesizers and live bass. 'Magnet For Your Mind' is the pair's ode to classic downtempo hip-hop vibes with cheerful samples, warm keys and a stirring vocal from Yawning Young. The EP closes with 'He Who Knows' a slightly more energetic production with Yawning Young intoning 'my brother, he makes me feel alive' as the beat slides off into the distance.

Magnet For Your Mind EP is something a little different from Astrophonica, a representation of the label's desire to explore the varied possibilities of dance music and its modern ramifications.

INTEGRAL
24.03.2016

* Here at Integral HQ we are proud to welcome back to the roster, longterm ally Zero T with a solid 3-track 12 which includes a fresh remix of one the back cat classics.

* The stunning opening track Too Close To See' sees Ireland's DnB superduo Zero T and Steo team up once again resulting in one of their best yet. Musical washes over Steo's infectious vocal and Zero T's classic funk-fuelled drum programming showcase his infamous clean and sharp production that perfectly marries the nasty, the funky and the sexy and soulful deep.

* On the flip, Withstand' continues along this theme. Slick and illicit dancefloor grooves complete with soul vocals and gorgeous piano riffs melt through tough breaks and nasty bass layers creating some contagious dancefloor business.

* The final track of the EP is an exceptional remix of one of our personal favourites from Zero T's early outings, harking 8 years back. Future producer and one to watch for 2016, Phase hailing from Belgium who has recently signed material to Metalheadz goes in deep. Retaining the funky, soulful elements of Essential Inch' with fresh and fierce drum programming, stabby bass and re-rubbed musicality reinstate this Integral classic in a new wave tech roller that will ignite the dancefloor.

* Don't miss the incredible Too Close To See EP. Zero T at his finest, perfecting his craft of smooth yet deadly vibes. The depth and clarity throughout this high quality EP is not to be missed!

Wilkinson - Flatline Feat. Wretch 32

Mark 'Wilkinson' returns to the limelight with his sensational new cut Flatline' - the first single from his second album, which features long-term collaborator and chart-topping rapper Wretch 32. Wilkinson and Wretch first collaborated back in 2014 on Wretch's hit single 6 Words', and having stayed in touch since, have propelled themselves back into the limelight.

Now returning to the fore-front of the music scene, Wilkinson's latest single speaks volumes of UK talent, with lyricism discussing the power of potential, and the possessive nature of social media, and an ever-intelligent youth.

Speaking on the single Wilkinson states: I wanted to do something different with this record. I wanted to keep it on a drum and bass tip but work with an artist to bridge the DNB and hip hop scenes in an interesting and distinctly British fashion. I'm into REAL rappers and personally for me, the finest lyricist in the UK is Wretch. He's a rappers rapper! His punchlines and delivery are incredible and I'm really happy with how the record turned out!"

The high-octane track once again proves that Wilkinson is one of the front-runners in the Drum and Bass scene, and follows on from four Top 40 singles including his Top-ten smash single Afterglow', which saw worldwide success - selling 400,000 copies, with 46 Million Youtube views.

Now focusing on Flatline', Wilkinson teases us with an addictive and high-octane sound as he moves towards the release of his second album at the end of the year.

Dubblestandart - Dub Realistic

einschlägigen Festivals, beispielsweise Coachella, Central Park Summer Stage (New York) und Dub

All Talk Ep

12inchCRIT090
Critical Music
16.09.2016

In advance of his attendance as a participant at the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy in Montreal, rising UK producer Hyroglifics has prepared the 'All Talk' EP for release in September via London's drum & bass purveyors Critical Music. That title might under-promise, but on tracks like "Persuade," debuted here, Hyroglifics certainly delivers. Featuring verses from long-running British rap crew Foreign Beggars, "Persuade" eschews Hyroglifics junglist tendencies in favor of more linear hip-hop. Following a mellow intro, it explodes with energy off the back of vocals that are paranoid, partially uplifting, and certainly boastful ("This is what you want / let me show you what you need"). There are shadowy slips of sound tucked throughout, with woodblock rhythms knocking at the door of otherwise fragile, glassy details that compete with the verses for attention. It's not jungle, and it's not drum & bass, and maybe it's not really hip-hop, either - it's just Hyroglifics. Clear, Black & Transparent Blue mixed coloured 12"

Etherwood - Souvenirs (feat. Zara Kershaw)

During his brief but illustrious career, Etherwood has continually impressed with a sequence of elegant, liquid drum & bass rollers and he has worked his magic once again to create an idyllic summertime soundtrack in the form of 'Souvenirs', which made it's debut exclusively on Annie Mac's show on BBC Radio 1.

* The enticing and indelible vocals of Zara Kershaw are perfectly intertwined with Etherwood's moving piano chords for pure sunshine serenity. An instantly inviting track, taking a trip through perfectly progressive build-ups and delicate underlying percussion before falling head first into the sounds of a future festival classic.

* The 12' package includes two remixes, firmly moving 'Souvenirs' from sunrise to sunset. Hospital Records' very own remix master S.P.Y takes us to the darker side, transforming 'Souvenirs' into an enrapturing bass-heavy shaker whilst maintaining Etherwood's soothing chord progressions and Zara's silky vocals. Ulterior Motive then step up with an alternative rework, filling up the night with waves of deep sub bass.

* If that wasn't enough, the enchanting and charming 'Juicer' is a special vinyl-only feature that fuses trademark Etherwood soulfulness with bouncy rhythms to create a fun and uplifting treat for any proud record collector.

London Elektricity - Are We There Yet (the Med School Scans)

* In 2015 London Elektricity surprised us all with his first album in over five years. 'Are We There Yet' more than deserved its influx of praise, now the Med School team has taken on the label boss' latest masterpiece. The 'Med School Scans' LP examines, dissects and transforms each track, injecting every member's unique persona into the critically acclaimed original.
* Etherwood, Keeno and Anile compliment London Elektricity's originals with class, elevating each into majestic adaptations. Whiney and S.P.Y keep up the funk of 'Tenderless' and 'Why Are We Here' while seeping through heavier subs and thicker percussions. Frederic Robinson creates an epic, dreamlike state with his rendition of 'Seven Days To Live'.* Royalston and Rawtekk don't hold back, their reconstructions of 'Tone Poem' and 'Telefunken Lizard Filter' move from jazz and soul to depth and darkness. The LP also features members of The Erised with Hidden Element taking 'Parallax' to a whole other level.* Outside of the Med School alumni, we've got up and comers GLXY with a sublime half-time trip on 'Artificial Skin'. Kimyan Law keeps things crisp, finely tuning 'That Thing You Did' and Subwave falls deep into a whirlpool of Emer Dineen's luscious vocals in his portrayal of 'Phase Us'.* All 15 tracks in this remix LP keep hold of the London Elektricity essence yet spread the sound further across either end of the drum & bass spectrum. With ten years already behind them, Med School continue to push forward as a strong, independent player exploring every corner of drum & bass with their diverse roster of talented artists.

Need For Mirrors / Need For Mirrors, Digital & Spirit - Acrobats / Cool Vibration

After his sell-out release in 2010, Need For Mirrors makes a long overdue return to Inneractive with the infectious, spaced-out bass heavy boomer 'Acrobats'. Fresh from their collaboration on Digital's 'Synthesis' LP, Need For Mirrors teams up with Digital and Spirit for the deep and dirty shuffling rhythms and dubbed out tones of 'Cool Vibration'.

Ownglow - A Walk To Remember

* Ownglow's journey began back in the hot deserts of Flagstaff, Arizona where the breathtaking San Francisco Peaks first inspired his debut EP A Walk To Remember'. By infusing any sound around him Ownglow's style breathes a rare and raw quality into drum & bass from snares of forest sticks, white noise of high school hallways, crashing waves of San Diego beaches and samples of a Six Flags rollercoaster.

* The EP follows Ownglow on his path so far. A gorgeous fluttering vocal in Angels Sing' reflects the beautiful views of the Pacific Surfliner journey that he took while writing the track. All the way to The Night Is Still Young' pieced together - with another exciting young talent Blake - after a night out at one of east London's drum & bass residencies.

* Ownglow's ambition left him to pick up and leave home at 15. While sofa-surfing around LA he realized his love for electronic music and the dream of working with Hospital Records. Since then he's immersed himself in the world of drum & bass making a huge move to the UK.

* In the last two years his feet have barely touched the ground playing sets on USA soil, sold-out UK venues and summer festival stages. Now he's found a new home in Forest Hill just a walk from the Hospital Records studio where he put the finishing touches on all four tracks and the self-designed record sleeve of his exciting and pivotal debut release.igned record sleeve of his exciting and pivotal debut release.

New Moon Ep

Next Phase Records
08.09.2016

The New Moon EP is the debut vinyl release from Next Phase Records. It follows in the same tradition as their previous CD and cassette compilations delivering diver- se break beat driven music supplied in bespoke hand crafted artwork.

New Moon consists of four alternate takes on the drum and bass artform unrestricted by BPM.

Perpetual Motion alternates between intricate drum- funk and distorted amens. Seamlessly switching from ambient fx to jungle sirens and classic drum stabs the end result is an unpredictable melting pot of contras- ting drum and bass styles.

Poor Man is a gloriously deep blend of traditional dub reggae and modern bass music. Double O disregards the traditional DnB BPM creating something that is unmistakably jungle whilst managing to sound nothing like it. Modern London fusion.

Shifted Feelings is a contemporary take on early nine- ties intelligent' drum and bass. Sophisticated drum edits, soul searching female vocals and a sublime Foul Play style transition combine to create the perfect track to overcome the stresses of daily life.

94 reflects on a time when Reinforced and Metalheadz were busy forging the cornerstones of jungle. The ul- tra-crisp breakbeats, sinister atmospherics and pitched down vocals reminiscent of that era are all present here constructing the perfect tribute to the forefathers of breakbeat music.

Flawless

12inchMEDIC49LP + CD
Med School
25.06.2015

* Showcasing Electrosoul System's innovative style with the 'Flawless' LP. An album reinvigorating drum & bass experimenting with raw industrialised sounds and futuristic twists. With an abundance of originality, 'Flawless' demonstrates the refined skill of one of Russia's most exciting musical talents.
* Journeying through an eclectic set of tracks from the deep jungle trek of 'Time Traveller' to the hypnotic warehouse wanderings of 'Shadows', tempting the ear with the all-alluring vocals of Deeizm. Title track, 'Flawless' takes a trip through a daydream state, following through with the funk fusions of 'Past-Time Cruiser' before dropping into 'Harder Than Sox' for some relentless percussive pull-ins.
* Having begun producing from the mere age of fourteen, its unsurprising Electrosoul System has already had a successful string of releases on a number of well established drum & bass imprints, alongside running his own label KOS.MOS.MUSIC. Also remembered for his prominent appearance in Hospital Record's 'The Future Sound of Russia' compilation back in 2009, whilst fast-forwarding to 2015 Electrosoul System featured on Sunchase's 'Kolo' - a firm favourite from the stunning 'The Truth' EP. Impressing once more with this fine contribution to the Med School catalogue,  'Flawless' is set to excite the ears and open the eyes of Med School and KOS.MOS fans alike.
