DLR needs little introduction, his name has become synonymous with underground drum & bass and from the beginning he's stayed true to his roots - he's never watered down his sound for a more commercial appeal. This stance has seen DLR rise to notoriety, even after his very first output. And following his releases on Metalheadz, Dispatch, Utopia, Shogun Audio and Break's prolific Symmetry imprint, he's embarked on a journey which will now see him set up his own imprint Sofa Sound, continuing the ethos which has made him so revered.

Sofa Sound was inspired by the creative arts community which flourishes throughout Bristol. It embodies the DIY spirit which has sprung up across its many art spaces, helping to nurture the drum & bass scene there which has continued to grow since it first came to the city's venues. For their first release, they've brought together a three-track EP which gives a taster into what Sofa Sound has planned for the coming months. Featuring label head DLR, as well as collaborator Quadrant and even a free download, 'Sofa Sound 001' will stand as a monumental part of the imprint's back catalogue.

DLR and Quadrant's 'Ghostfish' rolls out on a heavyweight bassline which quickly switches to subterranean levels, drawing you deeper with every pulsing sub. Its percussive elements cut through the mix, shaking the composition and giving an edge with every successive drum beat. 'Ghostfish' is heavyweight business... Neither DLR nor Quadrant pulls the breaks following each tide of sonic.

Up next is DLR's standalone offering 'Don't Make Sense', a crushing, unforgiving roller with moody atmospherics and stabs of distortion. The track rattles amongst snipped up vocal samples and keyed note patterns, creating an unfamiliar soundscape for you to immerse your aural synapses. And finally, you're introduced to free download 'Throwback', living up to its namesake with metallic kicks and snares which add to the track's punch. DLR nods to his roots throughout 'Throwback', proving his longevity in the game. This history will be brought into the soul of Sofa Sound... A label which will become a staple within drum & basses discography.

London based Jonny L's seminal D&B album 'Sawtooth' was his debut long player.
Originally released on XL in 1997 as a 5 x 10' vinyl box set, the reissue is pressed on vinyl with original artwork.
'Sawtooth' saw the evolution of drum 'n' bass from its original and wildly bombastic sound in to a 'neurofunk' era of D&B, defined by its eerily cold and obsessively tidy production. It's so mausoleum-cold in here, you can almost see your breath,' wrote Simon Reynolds about Jonny L's 'Piper' in The Wire, 1997.

Trident code primarily consists of three producers: Digital, Flava & Horrific James; 3 artists drawn together by their love of Jungle/Drum and Bass. Flava and Horrific James grew up in the 80's, with Flava hailing from Kettering, the same home town as DJ Storm. Flava's early days were largely influenced by the Hip Hop and Acid house scenes, a little after that nights at the Milton Keynes Sanctuary & Labyrinth solidified her love for Drum and Bass.

Horrific James grew up in Coventry where he became involved in the world of skateboarding and graffiti, this progressed into James moving to Camden in 1997 to study at the RCA. In 1999 he graduates & sets up his art studio in Hackney wick . In 2004 his work was picked up by Charles Saatchi and features in the New Blood exhibition at The Saatchi Gallery London . This led to Jessop shows in New York , Sao Paulo, Copenhagen & Torino . Today in 2015 James runs Horrific Recordings, a vinyl only label and he continues to exhibit art globally. In 2015 he opened Horrific Gallery in East London.

It's the Summer of 2002 where Flava and Dee Jay Jess (aka Horrific James) first met. A very keen Jess turns up for his new show on while Lady Flava was doing her regular show, a show currently in it's 15th year often featuring guests like Digital and Klute.
After Flava & Dee Jay Jess were initially introduced they became inseparable, instantly. The two soon joined forces in the Rude studio and went on to form the Rush hour crew with Dee Jay Jess, Flava and Motive.

In 2014 Digital was introduced to Horrific James through a mutual friend 'Clive Ingredients' which soon lead to Digital's guest appearance on Rude to celebrate his latest release on Horrific Recordings ' Corrupted Soul/Glue Tune'. Flava joined them inside the studio and this is where they all met as a unit. Soon after, they all decided to get together in the studio through their love of music and partying; Trident Code was born.

Digital began his journey helping out with Reggae sound systems around Ipswich under the heavy influence of his father. Seminal tracks like 'Waterhouse Dub', 'Ras 78' and the big bad 'Dubzilla Lp' helped cement his name in DNB history.

Two of Hospital Record's most electrifying artists have formed an allegiance for a true coming together of titans. Bournemouth's Krakota and Sao Paulo's Urbandawn have combined their production talents to create the five-track 'Focus Shift' EP - a real drum & bass mash up of styles and sonic sequences.
The aptly named 'Coyote' is an absolute howler, unashamedly powerful and loaded with energy, distorting and plunging itself into new streams of audio chaos throughout.
'Laguna' fits with their alter-egos - sweet, pensive and majestic. Operating within a more classic Hospital framework, this rolling stroke of musical bliss will leave no party unsatisfied.
Sitting in the middle of this concerted creation is title track 'Focus Shift'. Informed by both liquid-funk and tech styles, it's gelled together with scathing bass riffs and high profile percussive chops.
'Epigram' has all the bassweight you'd expect from such a monolith collision of production powerhouses. Crisp and sinful, with a consistently militant atmosphere this song is pure depth, darkness and danger, with a genuinely intriguing sonic progression that renders this track as devastating as weapons grade plutonium.
Seeing the release home is 'Paladin'. An ardent dancefloor destroyer that fuses the power of the stepper with the groove of a roller, that even angels would find themselves bustin' a skank. Uplifting and powerful with cosmic subtleties in the low end twinned with sombre melodies and skittering drum-work all tempered in unison to create a certified banger.

From 2015, SMG005 is one of Overlooks defining releases. Now repressed for 2017 on orange marbled vinyl.

Energetic and pure, Seba's return to his imprint is just class. With the ethereal vocal talents of Kirsty Hawkshaw fusing Seba's rolling beats tough bass growls with warm pads. Only Seba can do this to such perfection.

The third release from Stand Firm Hi-Fi showcases Rumbleton. 2 cuts of raw drum & bass Junglism, crafted in the traditional breakbeat form, presented on limited edition 12' vinyl.

Kings Chamber' is a journey into drums, with 2 choice 70's breaks carrying the brunt of the work. Warm pads take you away into a smokey atmosphere of percussion & bleeps. A running commentary of soundsystem wisdom flows with the track and proclaims Junglist virtues over top of a sub bass that rumbles your structure down to the molecule.

I Like You' - An off-world soundscape lays the foundation for a storming assault of Amens, on fire off the shoulder of Orion, pads like glittering C-beams, and sub weight that could either be a benefit or a hazard to humanity.

* The first Technimatic release since their breathtaking 'Better Perspective' sophomore album of last year, 'Technimatic Remixed' is a collection of some their greatest work to date brought kicking into 2017 by some of Pete & Andy's favourite producers of now. * We have never had a remix project of our work so this is a really fun one for us. You kind of get scared but excited at the same time as you wait for each track to come back! But all the guys on this project are guys we admire and respect greatly so we knew they would deliver the goods. 'Bristol' was just made for Break to do, we'd actually earmarked that one a couple of years ago for him. LSB is just on fire with his work at the moment, Alix we've loved since before we joined Shogun, Fracture was our only choice on 'Trigger Warning' as he's just the don for that sound and we've been really impressed by new Shogun family members Was A Be.

* Also we felt we'd like to contribute something to the project so we picked one of our favourite tunes with Lucy Kitchen and gave it a little sprucing up. Soul Deep Recordings and Blade are pleased to present the Blackbird EP. The EP features 2 richly crafted rollers that will rock the dance floor. The title track, "Blackbird", has received support from LTJ Bukem and many other top deejays around the world. The song starts off with a heavy amen break and light background atmospherics. At each turn, the break seems to get heavier as layers are added to the mix. When the bassline drops, the groove is undeniable, and will have your head nodding in approval. The song chugs along and builds to a crescendo with it's epic pads and tasteful atmospherics. "Bella l'amour", is the second offering, and it shows a different side to Blade's diverse productions. The track begins with a light break, airy efx, and chiming keys, that set the backdrop for this tight production. At the drop, the drums fill in nicely and the warm 808 bassline punch through the mix. Overall, Blade delivers big on this release, and will surely satisfy his fans with this slice of D&B heaven.

Goldie delivers a 3LP set of high quality drum and bass that ticks numerous boxes - dancefloor darkness, jungle revivalism, liquid funk warmth - with a string of suitably impressive collaborators (Ulterior Motive, Swindle, Jose James, Natalie Williams, Terri Walker) swinging by to ensure the set oozes soul

Fushara aka Thushara Goonewardene is a London based electronic musician working with breakbeats, samples and synthesiser. A constant theme for his music is urban decay. From the late 90's Fushara has been involved with the London scene as a raver, DJ, and Producer. He has produced experimental work for labels such as Pineconemoonshine, MJAZZ and more recently Scientific Recordings. In 2015 he set up an imprint Lone Foundation to showcase experimental bass music collaborating with DAAT and others. More recently he has made a return to work with breakbeat collaborating with Infest for one of his tracks on his debut on Criterion Records and has signed to Flex Recordings for a forthcoming EP.

Here he makes his bow on 7th Storey Projects with two amen-driven monsters - The A side features 'Ascension', an epic roller with industrial atmospherics and haunting vocal snatches.

This is backed up with 'Nerve' on the B Side, a nine and a half minute militant amenistic assault that hits hard, just the way we like it!

We're delighted to welcome Fushara to our roster of talent, we are sure you will be hearing plenty more from the man going forward!

Following countless ID requests, the long wait is over for This Is Bristol... , another classic DLR & Script collab and a coveted dubplate held by a select few over the past few years. Script also returns as SCAR along with Survival the duo first formed on Dispatch revisit their debut release, shaking the foundations with the mechanical lashings of Burnside VIP .

We would usually sum up the 12' in our own words but we believe Goldie's own comments to Fracture upon first listen OG the lead track probably do the release far more justice than we could!

* Fred V & Grafix bring a breath of fresh air with their long-awaited second album 'Oxygen'. Frankee has stood as one of the most hotly tipped producers on Ram's roster, catapulting himself onto the scene with aggressive and divisive dancefloor slayers. However, having two decades within the game already notched on his musical bed post, the producer has cemented himself within the genre's trophy cabinet. And he's returning after a brief hiatus with two brand new pieces of sonic artwork to take you into Summer's final months, a farewell to the festival stages his anthems have been played from.

Receiving support from Ram's head honcho Andy C, who's pedestalled his sound since it was first discovered by the revered veteran, and radio tastemakers alike, Frankee has a firm history behind him with previous releases. His next single 'Clap Your Hands' and 'Love & Peace' present two immensely different tracks which epitomize why Frankee's music has garnered such a backing, whilst exposing the polar opposites of his sound. Whether you were looking for the pounding, bassline driven layers of 'Drop it Low' or the more ethereal, heart-felt vibe of his Loadstar 'Away' remix, this single channels both sides of the coin.

Your first introduction to Frankee's return is via 'Clap Your Hands', once again platforming the sub-driven records he's famed for. Building up into a cascading drop whilst grinding LFO provides the steps, it's difficult not to be pulled in by its relentless beats and quick-fire drum patterns. With metallic vocal samples adding encouragement between each segment, Frankee is back and carrying the weaponry which made him so dangerous behind the decks.

On the reverse, 'Love and Peace' adds another dimension, not only proving Frankee's production capabilities, but also a contrast in musical attitudes. Natural yet still synthetic, it brings together shaking percussion and female vocals in a way that curtails both the light and dark shades of his skillset. A blissful liquid roller that carries itself from start to finish, it features nostalgic breaks whilst keeping a mechanical continuity.

This next output proves Frankee is back... And just like before, he's demonstrating why he's become a quintessential part in people's libraries.

After 2 EP's for Loxy's Cylon Recordings, Italian artist Last Life debuts on Samurai Music with 4 reduced reconstructions of contemporary Drum & Bass. The core of the Last Life sound revolves around spirited, stepping half time kick drums with shards of historic breakbeat treatments peppering the rhythm. An inherent bounce sets apart Last Life productions from many of his contemporaries. Those drawn to the sound of Clarity and Homemade Weapons will find the Nootka EP straddling a middle ground between their styles, but testament to this EP's shining identity is both these artists favouring tunes off the Nootka EP heavily in recent sets. * Shining the spotlight bright on newest signing, Brazilian-born Urbandawn with his Hospital debut single, 'Neon Nights'. Giving a glimpse of the infectious bass lines and euphonic notes that are inevitably on their way from this talented producer.
* From a calm opening to a fanfare of musical spirals, 'Neon Nights' explores through a range of tempos and melodic sequences to create a track perfectly fitted for festival fantasia. Going hand in hand is rightly titled, B-side 'Spectrum'. Combining a glimmering succession of chords with swirling synthesized sounds that inspire a vision of light and colour - happily harmonising with the signature Hospital sound.

* Urbandawn has previously impressed with his polished production on several Hospital and Med School compilations, as well as releasing a successful string of tracks on Fokuz and Bad Taste Recordings.

* With a musical career already spanning across fourteen years it's fair to say Urbandawn has more than earned his place on the Hospital roster; not to mention his classically trained background and audio engineering training thrown in the mix. 'Neon Nights' sets the precedent for the glowing future that's sure to come for Urbandawn.

The debut Homemade Weapons LP 'Negative Space' is still fresh in peoples playlists after a unanimously acclaimed release, and has gone on to be used as a benchmark for D&B LP's that exist on the edges of the music's periphery. Combining function and form with equal emphasis, Negative Space is an LP full of tracks that DJ's play in clubs as opposed to being largely relegated to online mixes. To follow on from the LP, we selected 3 Samurai artists to rebuild their favourite tracks from Negative Space and have combined this with a Tidal Track VIP from Homemade Weapons made initially for his DJ sets. Ancestral Voices, The Untouchables, and Sam KDC all turn in unique interpretations.
