Gost Zvuk marks tenth release with a new full-length by Vtgnike, arguably the most influential producer on the Russian electronic scene who is also partly responsible for shaping the label's aesthetics and sonic identity.

During the years of his practice Vtgnike meticulously sculpting a sound unique to himself finding a gap yet unexplored - somewhere between current hardcore continuum trends and the sounds of classic IDM era. But despite falling somewhere on the UK music territories, 'Collection' creates a space of its own - the one inspired by the al the splendors and miseries of Post-Sovietness one cannot get rid of.

Yoofee's versatile sound features razor sharp percussions, rumbling subbass and a ton of organic grooves. It's hard to narrow it down to one specific genre, which is one of the reasons i love his music so much. On top of the three original productions the 'Visualize EP' also features a remix by Itoa who went for a slow burning building repetitive approach which takes 'Clart' into a whole new direction.

Russian drum & bass producer Black Barrel is one of the most sought after producers to come through the ranks in recent months. After his discovery by Ant TC1, a tastemaker who's founded the careers of many similarly talented artists, he was brought into the fold of Dispatch Recordings and has since dropped a plethora of heavy-hitting releases which have solidified his place within the genre. With support from many of the underground scene's pivotal heads, including Break, Radio 1's Rene LaVice and DLR, his widening back catalogue is finding itself within major clubs globally.

Following on from his 'Ghostdive' and 'Labyrinth' EPs on Dispatch Recordings, he returns with his debut 'Last Frontier' LP. The versatility and featuring artists given a platform throughout show Black Barrel's progression; the atmospherics and rolling breaks of 'Blue Sky' are your first introduction and it's a weighty one. Amongst the colossal fourteen track package, the vocal intricacies of Steo on 'Coincidence', alongside the LP's title-track 'Last Frontier' continue the high-reaching standards. 'Fallen', 'Moving Shadows' and 'Chosen One' with Arkaik follow in quick succession, whilst the clinking percussion of 'Sonar' featuring HLZ and the old-school reminisces of 'We're Falling' remain just as heavy hitting. Then Thematic jumps onboard alongside Black Barrel for 'Submarine' and long-time collaborator Nami joins the list of guests on 'Hydrophiinae'. 'Inside You' and 'I See the Light' are the final standalone tracks from Black Barrel; but Rizzle and Dissident prolong the assault with Black Barrel on slick cuts 'Undercurrent' and 'Flat Ocean'. For an artist whose output is difficult to match, not just in quality but also through the sheer volume of what is released, it's easy to imagine just how adept Black Barrel is amongst his studio tech.

Now being signed exclusively to Dispatch Recordings, Black Barrel is looking to capitalise on his ongoing success. For such a new artist, 'Last Frontier' is an outstanding feat, proving just how competitive the world of contemporary drum & bass is proving to be in 2018.

Already treasured as one of our brightest talents, he showcased his early abilities in the edm.com premiered 'Contour' from our Musical Currency Volume 3 compilation, but that alone was the briefest insight into what would follow. Each track stands up to objective scrutiny in its own right, but together they form a body of work that few can deny is seriously on point. Here at Broken Audio we always strive to find innovative ways of offering quality music. Our recent Musical Currency USB Credit Card albums were received with widespread acclaim, flying off the shelves and setting the tone for us offering some substance to what can often seem a faceless digital music world.
But we now look to raise the bar even higher with our latest concept...'Project Mohawk' started out as a codename for a collection of tracks we'd signed from a select group of talented emerging artists, each with their own distinct sound and style of production. As the idea took shape, so the quantity and quality of the music grew, culminating in a commitment to nine separate EP releases. From that point forth our aim was to come up with a twist whereby each release could stand out in its own right, but also form a part of something bigger...
So along with the usual digital download components, each release will have its own limited edition lathe cut 10' vinyl dubplate featuring our two favourite tracks, lovingly presented in a hand made and numbered 'jigsaw of art' card sleeve. It was crucial to me that this new chapter was a step up in content, sound design and song writing which influenced the decision to include only solo material and even master it myself.

Lookin' at the cover artwork you can imagine what you are gonna get: 2 tracks that were originally from the 'Syncopated City' album from 2008. Just in time for the 10th anniversary of that album these two awesome tracks finally get their vinyl release, cause for some reason they didn't make it on the vinyl version of the album. We always thought that is a shame, cause 'outnumbered' is one of the strongest, if not the best track of the album. People who got the CD of the album probably already know that! London Elektricity was always vehicle for the twisted loungecore D&B creations of Hospital Records masterminds Tony Colman and Chris Goss. And also these 2 tracks fit perfectly into this description. The songs feature the incredible vocals of longtime LE collaborator (and award-winning Jazz Legend) Liane Carroll like you've never heard her before - haunting and suspicious, while the man himself Tony Colman adds his own vocals and adlibs throughout. So it's the first time these 2 fine tracks going to be pressed on wax! Band info: The oldskool classic 'Pull The Plug' was the first Long Player to bear the LE moniker, and was released to great critical acclaim in 1999. Tony took the LE mantle on solo around 2003 and released the seminal 'Billion Dollar Gravy' LP before the birth of the London Elektricity live show. Another classic album 'Power Ballads' and two live DVDs followed off the back of a hectic touring schedule. Having remixed the likes of Underworld, Nitin Sahwney and Hard Fi London Elektricity is a production force to be reckoned with - theoriginal exponent of 'fast soul music' Tony Colman manages to combine heartfelt soul, with a level of musical literacy and emotion unparalleled in Drum & Bass. In 2007, London Elektricity won the BBC 1Xtra Xtra Bass award for best live act.

Label stalwart Jubei returns to the label alongside long term friend Tyrone for 'The Arcane EP'.

Taking its name from the club night where they first met, 'The Arcane EP' is partly a follow up to 2015's 'Out of Sight' with the duo now delivering a full 4 track collaborative release which has garnered support from Goldie to Chase & Status and Shy FX to Break, with loads more in between.

Jubei & Tyrone's concept for an EP was triggered by the creation of 'Stabs', which since its inception has undoubtedly become one of the most asked about Metalheadz tracks of recent times and was an obvious choice to headline an EP full of energy and accomplishment.

Lockjaw introduces his upcoming LP 'Human Research' with the release of the 'Human Research Sampler EP' on Locked Concept. A longtime curator of adroit, technical drum & bass through his Locked Concept imprint, Lockjaw now steps to the foreground, revealing four tracks from his forthcoming album that exemplify a continued dedication to this guiding principle, whilst displaying his expert abilities across an eclectic array of tracks that give a tantalizing taste of what is to come from the full LP.

The titular 'Human Research' opens with glistening chimes and a pensive drone, quickly joined by a wandering bassline that sweeps through the shadowy milieu of the track's opening, winding its way forwards amongst a series of increasingly sharp and distorted pulses towards the track's main section, where the combination is joined by a frantic drumbeat that rushes forwards with single minded determination.

'Without You' bears a tangible nostalgia, its opening drums carrying a classic, rave inspired piano riff and vocal reminiscent of an earlier era that reaches its climax amongst rising saw stabs, before locking into a dynamic bassline groove still rippling with the same jubilant energy introduced at the track's beginning.

'Velveteen' features the vocals of QUAILS, who provides an ethereal verse that daydreams about possible affection over soft, floating keys and a pulsating bassline, which drift aimlessly until the track grows with excitement in the second chorus amongst rising percussion & desirous guitar. 'Second Chance' considers the prospect of beginning again, as its sweeping pads grow from muted beginnings to produce an originally subdued drumbeat which exudes a humanizing growth in confidence that waxes as its complexity increases, with a rolling bass and stirring percussion introduced alongside wistful pads still wary from the outcome of the unspoken first attempt.

With the 'Human Research Sampler EP', Lockjaw, demonstrates in brief his unique ability to bestow deeply human qualities to his musical productions across a wide array of tones. In debuting these four sample tracks, he issues firm assurance that the forthcoming 'Human Research LP' will be no less mystifying as its researches the condition of humanity and the emotions most central to it.

* Alk-e-d is the first to get the 'Legacy' treatment on Kniteforce Records. One of the original KF crew, he has been with the label since 1991, and remains a fan favourite. The Legacy series is designed to showcase our most dedicated artists, those who have been with the label since the very early days. And if Kniteforce itself has a legacy, it is one where risks get taken and the love of good music is always at the front of our minds. This EP contains 4 remixes, and the highlight must be the first brand new remix in decades from legendary producer Sublove who went onto become huge with Way Out West. Sublove featured on the very first Kniteforce EP back in 1992, and was enticed to come back and make some old skool for the label as well as remixing Alk-e-d. And what a remix it is! Proper old skool with depth and class. Not only that, we have Darwin, one of the biggest names in the modern hardcore scene, Shadowplay, and Luna-C on remix duties too. All in all, this EP is stunning, and is nto to be missed.
