When Underdog Recordings started back in 1993, the first 2 releases, Mad Dog 1 & 2 were what would now be considered as hardcore jungle techno.

From UDR003 onwards the hardcore techno elements were abandoned as the scene and label evolved into straight up jungle and drum & bass. 29 years later, DJ Jedi's first outing on Underdog Recordings is a very welcome return to our Hardcore Jungle Techno roots as he delivers "Prophecy E.P". on the label.

Bitin’ Back is Micky Finn’s debut release. Originally written in 1989, it wasn’t released until 1991 on Fokus Recordings. Heavily played in the warehouse parties, illegal parties and pirate radio stations at the time, these are two breakbeat tracks that are made to make you move.

The record is presented in a full colour housebag designed by Micky himself, which includes the opening lines of the Six Million Dollar Man printed on the bag, the source of the vocal sample on ‘She’s Breaking Up’.

Originally released in 1993 on DJ Phantasy’s Liquid Wax label, it has now been repressed in conjunction with Vinyl Fanatiks on coloured vinyl – options red/white/blue.

DJ Phantasy co-production alongside his mate Simon aka DJ Kid Twist. This was produced at Jack Smooth’s studio and engineered by a young Alex Reece, who later found fame on Metalheadz.

This record, as with most of the Liquid Wax backcat, is sought after on original press so we are delighted to be able to get this repress out to you in a high quality gloss Liquid Wax housebag and white inner sleeve. Released on either red, white or blue 180g heavyweight vinyl.

First Word Records is very proud to present a brand new full-length album from Kaidi Tatham. 'It's A World Before You'.

Following on from two EPs released on First Word last year ('Changing Times' and 'Hard Times'), Kaidi has delivered us thirteen tracks that deftly illustrate his various talents as a multi-instrumentalist.

Kaidi is probably best known for his work with Bugz In The Attic, though his musical contributions over the years have also included Amy Winehouse, Slum Village, Mulatu Astatke, Soul II Soul, Moonchild, Leroy Burgess, Amp Fiddler, Chris Dave, Macy Gray, King Britt, DJ Spinna, Mr Scruff and IG Culture to name but a few! In recent times, he's worked with DJ Jazzy Jeff on a variety of projects, including his most recent album 'M3', touring Europe for Jeff and Will Smith's reunion shows, and on the PLAYlist album 'Chasing Goosebumps', with Glenn Lewis, Stro Elliot (The Roots), Masego, Maimouna Youssef, Rich Medina, Daniel Crawford and more.

All this in addition to heating up dances around Europe with his inimitable DJ sets, and working heavily with First Word label-mate, Eric Lau (who also mixed this album) on a variety of projects, and adding releases to his already impressive catalogue on 2000 Black, Eglo and Theo Parrish's Sound Signature, with regular compadre, Dego (who features on the album's title track).

This album personifies Kaidi's diverse palette of sounds - bar Eric & Dego's features, every piece of music is played by himself. Largely flowing on a broken beat rhythm section, Kaidi effortlessly incorporates washes of afro, latin and funk throughout. From the harmonics of 'Your Dream Don't Mean A Thing', to the breakneck funk of 'Outta Audah', each and every riddim exudes energy. But this isn't simply a bruk record. The album is laced together with downtempo beats and future jazz interludes throughout, and some sweet synth boogie is never very far away, especially on the weighty vibes of 'It's About Who You Know'. To top it all off, there's two delightful nuggets of hip hop soul - Mancunian label-mates, Children of Zeus, feature on the neo-soul vibes of 'Out Here On My Own', and there's a feature from Amir Townes, better known as Uhmeer - an upcoming MC from Philadelphia, and son of one Jazzy Jeff Townes - who rides a sub-heavy, piano-led slice of boom bap, voicing an assortment of characters to tell the tale of 'Cupid'.

'It's A World Before You' is set to cause serious damage to sound-systems over the Summer, and show and prove once again the skills of one of the UK's best unsung musical talents, Kaidi Tatham.

This was THE crossover uptempo hip hop/breaks dancefloor jam in 1989. Played in many many clubs and rave scenes, this genre-busting, "The Commodores" sampling one-off is finally available on 7" for the first time ever using the original 12" artwork, on the original NYC label.

NC4K has launched a vinyl only series “NC4KDUB” in 2023. First one in the series is Stones Taro's two side 12 inch cut. One side is a 2-step track with 90's beautiful samples and a sick bassline. Another is a deeper breakbeat style track.

London based Italo-house afficionado Demi Riquísimo’s Semi Delicious continues to roll out superb releases with consistent development in its sound. As the label matures towards its third year of operation, Demi invites a host of UK talent for the third Various Artists release to date.

Demi kicks things off with his archetypal soul-soothing disco-tinged house. Live percussion grooves interlock punchy kicks and mesmerising arpeggios sprawl out across the top. With his signature FM synth line riding across the top and accompanying chord grooves, Demi’s ‘Sanitise’ is an instantly distinguishable dance floor heater from the outset!

Bringing an immersive B2 experience, Baby Rollén delves deep into submerged acid territories. ‘Peripheral Visions’ explores the unseen with wandering 303’s interlocking over warm euphoric pads and jazzy piano licks. Persistently playful and uplifting while bearing all the sonic characteristics of a moody Detroit electro track.

Harry Oscillate is a force to be reckoned with his signature psychedelic house sounds landing on labels including Big Beat Manifesto, Misplaced Recordings and Melbourne imprint clipp.art. Here he relaxes into a mellow space voyage with driving 909 drums, intricate echoing leads and dazzling synth chords that embrace like a warm hug on the dance floor.

Bristolian super villain Gallegos has been tearing the underground scene in half recently with releases on Holding Hands and Banoffee Pies that have exploded into Boiler Room sets, peak time shows at Panorama Bar and on BBC Radio 1. His utterly unique sound fuses bold, dynamic synth writing with hip-hop-inspired sampling and monster drum grooves. ‘What About You’ is a lament to anyone suffering with mental health, a gentle reminder that we’re not alone.

Finally, the chugg king of East London Tech Support brings ‘Idyll Illusion’, a track that exemplifies his slow-burning mind-trips. Taking sounds from the late 80’s and blending them with his stylistic arpeggios and big beat drum machines. A perfect end to this moving ride through Semi Delicious 009!

Back in the late 80s label owner Olivier Ducret entered 11 Wardour Street in London, home of the mighty Brain Club, a gallery · club · bar owned by Sean McLusky and Mark Wigan, where many (acid) house and techno visionaries played their early live on Thursday night to less than 50 people, that was quite intimate: Orbital, Simon Lovejoy, Mr Monday, If?, Doi-Oing, Nexus 21, Funtopia, Hi-Ryze, Adamski, 808 State, Ultramarine and of course, Mixmaster Morris's Irresistible Force and Irdial's RAMJAC Corporation. The energy and the creativity was incredible, at its peak, everything was fresh, innocent, naïve, new and oh so exciting. Boundaries in genre did not exist, and everyone was welcome aboard, no superstar, no business, just pure great fun. The crowd was eclectic, you could bump into Mark Moore or Neneh Cherry while the oung guns Andrew Weatherall or Steve Bicknell were spinning. This is most possibly where it all started for me & the label and this unique recording captures it all like no other, like a time capsule, impressively, and amazingly, a classic slice of British rave history unearthed via Switzerland. Just close your eyes and go back to the phuture.

Vinyltrixta (who along with Jimmy J co-founded the Remix Records in Camden, London shop back in the mid 90s) - delivers a stomping 4 track EP in the 1992 breakbeat hardcore style on Return of The Vibe.

Mum No Hands’ - an assured four tracker that draws on Bristol bass, footwork, jungle and broken techno to create something fresh and upfront. A certified stalwart of the Bristol scene, Yushh (aka Jen Hartley) is already well on her way to becoming a household name. Over the last few years she has toured extensively across Europe’s festival and club circuits, landing sets at Freerotation Festival and HÖR along the way. Her label, Pressure Dome, is known internationally as a go-to outlet for various offshoots of forward-thinking, soundsystem-ready UK techno, with a roster that includes Sputnik One, Caldera, Ido Plumes and Cando. So far, she has only teased her production skills with a string of one-off drops and remixes, including features on Rhythm Section, Banoffee Pies and All Centre. On ‘Look Mum No Hands’ she finally lays out the blueprints for her unique, club-honed sound. The title track skips along at a nippy 160 bpm, driven by a slow/fast halfstepping beat and monster bassline that places it somewhere between DMZ and Teklife. ‘Same Same’ drops the tempo down to 130 bpm, with loungey keys and a skippy vocal chop offsetting a cavernous low-end. On the flip, ‘Close Fall’ squeezes darkside d’n’b sonics into a chugging 95 bpm beat template, while ‘Self Couscous’ takes an intricate, glitched approach to jungle/broken beat reminiscent of mid 00’s Planet Mu. Brainwaltzera returns to FILM with a brace of archive recordings in the artist's characteristically idiosyncratic style.

The collection opens with FMsquared royal wavetable mellodies A, a mesmerizing beatless composition split across two contrasting movements. Synth-focused, the first explores a more introspective tone whilst the second is decidedly more elevated and playful. Follow up good endgar showcases the artist's enviable talent for crafting rolling, wide-open IDM, marrying crisp drum machine hits with washed out pads and a resonant bassline. WSsquared royal wavetable mellodies B follows the same pattern as mellodies A, split once again into two movements. This time each movement is markedly more distinct: the first, an atmospheric, half-time dirge and the second a more uplifting and esoteric workout, with crystalline FX breaking up the composition. On LANsqape4 short_oneTake Brainwaltzera lets the drums roll out, underpinning more lush synth work with a hint of a break closing in as the piece subsides near its close. Copperfeel, the penultimate offering, is the most reduced work in the collection with a single main melody doing the bulk of the legwork, and buoyed by vocal-sounding synths. FMsquared epiloggy beauvine bonus perc version closes the collection, a pleasing bookend that sees the riff from the opening track's latter movement return - now underpinned with rolling drums.

We are delighted to welcome from the Finnish electronic music underground the artists MESAK to the n s y d e family. Mesak's dedication to experimentation and sonic exploration always excited us. With an extraordinary sense of futuristic sound designs, these tracks are a perfect example of finding the sweet spots between established and new techniques. The First track "Katosi" shows impressively how a contemporary dertroitish sound design is still able to transport ancient human feelings like hope and melancholia at the same time.

The acidic grounded "Narina" creates a dungeon space constantly hitting the whiplash snare drum, while "Post Sweat" is pouring golden Larry Heard-like warm Deep House neutrons upon you.


For the Remix, he has invited one of the most interesting artists in the field of electronic experimentation coming out of France, Poborsk, also known under his Bill Vortex moniker.


Mesak's music invites listeners to explore a range of emotions and moods, from the contemplative to the ecstatic, with a sense of sincerity and authenticity that is extraordinarily rare.

Diagonal whack out a demented début dosage from unknown operator Handy, who probes a queered zone between the bandy-legged funk of Cylob and the sound of Evol on a bender with SOPHIE.
A perfectly curdled addition to the label's 2018 campaign, the Smacker EP follows aces by Russell Haswell and The Modern Institute with a necessary helping of deviant cheekiness across four tracks of prodded, squeezed and fondled fonq.
Here for a good time, each track says its piece in a popwise blatz of daftness at the recommended 45rpm, which becomes only sleazier, stickier at 33rpm, if the mood takes you Up top, that results in the comically tart and ruddy juzz-fank spanking of Oink and the speedy elastic scramble of Stretch, whilst underneath you'll catch the hyper coloured splashback of Spit and the nutty Talk Box workout, Dump.Bonkers.

4 x Genre jumping weapons right here. From stripped back haunting broken techno, to booty electro. Flip it over for a 135 BPM hypnotic rolling techno with a jungle twist, finishing the EP with some bass heavy breakbeats.

DE-TÜ return to Infernal Sounds for their 5th outing and this time lay siege to the bootleg/white label XXX series. The follow up to their sold out 'Tried By Tu / Waiting For Jah' which featured as XXX002 back in 2019 features two heavy hitters.

Gatekeeping' kicks off the A side with a familiar intro, before thrusting you into a frenzy of sample slices, mid-range melodies and a real face-scrunching low-end fusion. It's a classic dance floor destroyer and one that'll be doing the rounds for years to come. 'Mojigao' on the B side takes things in a completely different direction and is more reminiscent to the DE-TÜ sound we all know and love. Textural dubbed out tones and building vocals lead into the drop, before you're plunged into an ocean of reverberating bass, and a progressive synth pattern. You're completely submerged and washed with smooth and soothing bass, while the track takes an even more progressive step to really switch things up. It's trademark DE-TÜ at it's finest.

As with the previous XXX series, the release is vinyl-only (never to be released digitally) and will not be repressed.

A darker and more disturbing approach comes from our family member Nadia D’Alò under her DALO alias. This track is more like - did you ever went to a dark and sweaty basement Electro party while in the middle of the floor at 04:20 a yellow purple sprinkled zebraseal named “ZAFRAM“ Mc Schnork wants to sell you liability insurance for a special discount? The 808 is bouncing, accents are placed carefully and harsh but also cute baby demon vocal effects are panning in between all 4 dimensions while the 303 hits you so hard that your legs are shaking? Then it gets really weird when this strange looking Otter from New York in a pink pony costume pops up and takes out the gear of his attache, offering you everything to pass the bat country safely? Well, it’s Philipp Otterbach's “Otter Space Mix” which put this special flavour on top.

Sun & Stars by Gossan and Pad Union, the debut vinyl release from Music Department record label, featuring four sumptuous and eclectic tracks.

Up first in the A1 spot is In 'Stars We Trust' by Gossan, an elegant progressive house number with a gorgeous aquatic build up which releases into a swell of subtly crafted drums, a warm and rumbling bass line and luxurious pads and synth refrains. The perfect opening track for a momentous debut release.

At the A2 spot is 'Solnce Zvuk' by Pad Union. A testament to the diversity of this EP, 'Solnce Zvuk' is a stylistically unique track which gives a sizable nod to 90s trip-hop and broken beat. With a groovy, syncopated break beat, a deep and potent sub bass line, not to mention an army of funky samples, 'Solnce Zvuk' will get any dancefloor moving!

Up first on the B side is 'Podsnezhniq' by Pad Union, a clever and interesting blend of break beat and 4/4 rhythms. Awash with melancholic pads, subtle synth riffs and an assortment of ethereal vocals all set to a driving bass line, 'Podsnezhniq' is a worthy contender on this formidable EP.

Finally, at B2 is 'Last Trip' by Gossan, a graceful progressive house track with a pulsing beat, gentle melodic phrases and a smooth, throbbing bass line. Add in some uplifting gaseous pads and a sprinkling of ingenuously designed vocal samples, and you’ve the perfect conclusion to a very memorable vinyl debut!

Back in the early '90's California's West Coast's parties, raves and clubs began to be fueled by the emergent sound of tripped out acid breakbeats and psychedelic house jams. Jason Drummond, AKA DJ Spun & Courtney Nielsen teamed up as Central Fire, their debut was both influential and pioneering, released in '94 on Twitch Recordings, a mainstay of the San Fran scene, it would pathe the way for what was to come.

'This Is A Shout Going Out' (Into The Future Mix) opens with infectious bubbling 303, there's breaks aplenty with expertly programmed twists and turns along the way, whilst the vocal keeps it lively throughout. The Sliced and Diced Mix sees Jim Hopkins edit the original down into a jam packed journey.
Over on the flip 'Central Fire' (Yes People It's Time Pt.1 and 2) takes a more stripped back approach, a b-line and breaks that deliver the funk underpin delicate riffs, dub FX and an unforgettable flute interplay to turn this track into another devastatingly programmed episodic ride.

This EP has stood the test of time, an essential rarity that has achieved cult status amongst the most discerning DJs, music heads and record collectors alike.

Watergate favourites GHEIST make their long-awaited label debut.
There’s an auspicious connection between GHEIST and Watergate; the Berlin four-piece played their veryfirst live show at the club in 2017. Since this time, not only have they become tried and true favourites at the Oberbaumbrücke hotspot, but they’ve caught the ears of electronic music fans the world over, establishing themselves as one of the most promising new acts on the scene.
After stellar releases on Last Night On Earth, Diynamic and their own Radau Records, ‘Zukunft’ is a fitting debut, shining with the GHEIST’s trademark juxtaposition of melancholic and euphoric tones. The title arouses an immediate nostalgia courtesy of its shimmering combination of organ stabs, scattered vocal effects and smooth bass. ‘Disclose Yours’ will make the hairs on your arms stand up with its major key synth riff and stirring vocal. Completing the package is a slick dub, primed for the early hours.

Purveyor of lovecore, fabba and cakebeat, bestie and all-round DJ-inspo Angel D’lite blesses Ritual Poison with her ‘Re4mat’ EP.

‘Werk My Body’ is a swirl of feminine energy, empowered vocals blending with hardcore breaks and hyper bass, a four four switch warping temporally before the track drops again. Local Group return the remix favour from their own recent EP, slowing ’Werk My Body’ to a 140 emo-banger, trance melodies sandwiching a proggy mid-section, the bass bumping throughout.

‘R u Ready’ keeps the NRG and BPMs high, breakbeats rolling over booming sub and dubbed out rave stabs, the sexual charge of the female ragga vocal frank and unashamed. ‘Re4mat’ signs off, the hallowed B2. Drawing on rave anthems of the past, it looks boldly to the future.

J:Kenzo is an artist we have long admired here at Metalheadz and it was only a matter of time before we brought him into the fold for a full EP.

Titled 'ZegaFunk', J:Kenzo's 4 track offering was instigated by the 2020 lockdown and fiercely spurred on by Goldie over the course of the year. There is a real classic feel to the EP, so acutely influenced by the sound of 1997 with dystopian pads and groove-laden basslines readily bursting from each track. Innovative dub influences and engaging patterns keep the listener captivated throughout a slick EP with both substantial weight and flavour.

We're also honoured to have another incredibly accomplished artist join the camp in .EPOD who delivers his trademark skillset on an exquisitely reimagined version of the Metalheadz logo.

Returning to the remix series again, this time with The Future Stylin' remixes of the rare EP from 1993, originally written and produced by Rob Haigh under his alias Haute Control. Prolific Bristol based producer & DJ Gallegos debuts on London label Curving Track Gallegos’ with ‘Sycophantic Maniac’, dropping on the 27th July featuring additional tracks 0832am & Stop Continue. Having previously released music on labels like Holding Hands & Banoffee Pies, ‘Sycophantic Maniac’ is a big room record fusing together acid top lines, fast paced breaks and a driving low end, receiving early support from TSHA and featured in her forthcoming Fabric mix compilation CD out on the 7th May. The highly anticipated record has also seen spins from NTS stalwart Moxie, and will be receiving the remix treatment later this year from an exciting up and coming artist.

Safe Planet’s intergalactic transmissions channel Neek’s deep space sample collection missions, and after bringing Ishan up to warp-speed with intensive rave and hardcore training, the duo launched firmly into dancefloor production mode with their debut EP for Sweet Sensation.

This project matches tidy low-end focused productions long established through their individual releases under Peng Sound & Hotline, with space cadet research methods developed for the pair’s recent collaboration with Young Echo rappers Manonmars & Bogues on DNO records.
