First Word Records is proud to present 'Nothing Leaves The House - The Anthology'. A vinyl-only album of 16 hip hop instrumentals from Mr Thing, kidkanevil, Tall Black Guy & Eric Lau. This is a collection of a long-out-of print series of beats from four of the most revered beat-makers in the underground scene.

This double-vinyl collection features four brand new tracks specially created for this 10 year anniversary release. The concept behind this project was originally birthed on Record Store Day 2012. First Word label founder Gilla explains "as we dipped in and out of London's Soho record shops, kidkanevil mentioned to me that he wanted to mine Mr Thing's vast record collection for samples. An idea formed to invite a couple of other beatmakers to join him and to press the resulting beats onto vinyl.

Mr Thing enthusiastically agreed to the idea with one stipulation: they could sample what they wanted, but the records had to stay within the walls of his flat. We quickly enlisted Eric Lauand Tall Black Guy to complete the quartet and 'Nothing Leaves The House' was born." The release came to fruition and was released a decade ago, for Record Store Day in April 2014. The quartet met up once again shortly after in another London record shop, to work on a follow up project.

For this one, Mr Thing brought one record for each producer from his collection for them to sample. They reciprocated by picking a record from the racks in the shop for him to use. 'Thing Leaves The House' was then released in 2015. Completing the trilogy of releases, the crew were invited to the legendary John Peel Archive to dig for samples there. After trawling the legendary Peel Acres collection, the producers individually selected sound snippets to create new beats from; this time under the stipulation that 'Nothing Leaves The Archive'. This double 7" release again landed on Record Store Day, 2016. Gilla says "10 years on from the release of the first record, and almost 9 years to the day since we were at Peel Acres, we are now releasing the 4th and final volume.

Whilst Mr Thing is still in England, the other three have travelled far and wide. Eric Lau is now in China, Tall Black Guy has returned to the US and kidkanevil has moved to Berlin. Our indie label budget didn't extend to uniting everyone from the different continents, so instead Mr Thing uploaded a folder of tracks for the trio to work from. With the previous volumes now long sold out, we've added the original beats to this anthology and have moved up from a double 7" to a double 12" LP. Fresh Selects presents the 5 year anniversary re-issue of the underground classic debut LP from one of R&B's most promising stars, SiR. Jess Holt aka. total tommy veröffentlicht ihr mit Spannung erwartetes Debütalbum 'bruises' (= blaue Flecken, Prellungen). Der Frankfurter DJ und Produzent Gregor Tresher veröffentlicht am 29. November sein mit Spannung erwartetes neues Album 'False Gods' mit 16 Titeln über PIAS Électronique und präsentiert mit seinem ersten LP-Projekt seit acht Jahren seinen vielfältigen und umfassenden Sound in seiner ganzen Fülle.

Tresher gilt weithin als seltene Ausnahme in der trendgetriebenen EDM-Szene. Von den Anfängen in den 90er Jahren in seiner Heimatstadt Frankfurt hat er sich bis heute einen beachtlichen Status erarbeitet, ob mit Remixes für Größen wie Depeche Mode, Moby oder Extrawelt, seiner Freundschaft und wiederholten Zusammenarbeit mit Sven Väth, oder mit seinen eigenen Alben - sowohl unter seinem richtigen Namen als auch unter seinem Pseudonym Sniper Mode.

Nun erscheint sein bislang umfangreichstes Projekt - Eine introspektive Reise in einen der aufregendsten Köpfe der modernen elektronischen Musik. Auf diese Reise nimmt er auch einige Freunde mit: Von u.a. Sven Väth, über Anja Schneider bis zum französischen Pionier Laurent Garnier.

This is one of Ray Pérez’s most highly sought-after albums, not only for its strong salsa dura anthems and funky boogaloo numbers but also for its brave, quirky eclecticism and youthful, rebellious spirit, all of which are reflections of “El Loco” Ray’s unique genius, making him a beloved figure in rare record collector circles everywhere.

The original is not that easy to find today and carries a hefty price. Thankfully, it has been remastered from the original tapes, fully licensed, with the original artwork, preserving and presenting the legacy of this great Venezuelan music for today’s generation.


DESCRIPTION
The late 1960s was a very busy time when Pérez was juggling several different studio bands: Los Dementes, Los Calvos and Los Kenya.

The daring experiment Pérez created with Los Calvos laid the basis for Los Kenya, an actual working band that released six albums between 1968 and 1972. Despite being titled “Los Kenya, Vol. 2” because it was the second released by Discomoda, the record actually represents Los Kenya’s third album, and is perhaps the most mature, well-rounded venture in the lot.

In February 1969, on Discomoda, came “Los Kenya, Vol. 2” focused on the upcoming carnival season and was calculated to compete with rival bands Federico Y Su Combo Latino and Sexteto Juventud for the plethora of gigs offered at that time of year.

The album, like all Ray Pérez releases of the time, is short and powerful, with five tracks per side, showcasing a variety of singers, genres, rhythms, influences and arrangements, making this one of his more eccentric and interesting efforts. 1960s California “sunshine pop” rock (often referred to as ‘surf’ on Los Kenya records), guajiras, boogaloos, descargas and even Mexican mariachi corridos are all added to the pot of salsa cooked up by “El Loco Ray” and his band.

The album has been rescued from obscurity and lovingly restored, remastered from the original tapes, fully licensed, with its original artwork intact, preserving and presenting the legacy of this great Venezuelan music for today’s generation of global salsa dura fans.

Natürlich haben auch Worte Konsequenzen und jede Freiheit hat ihre Grenzen, aber was ist mit einem Künstler, der fest auf dem Boden der Verfassung seines Landes steht und keine Gesetze bricht? Beinhaltet Freiheit nicht auch das Recht auf Widerspruch gegen den Zeitgeist? Dass DERO GOI bei Themen eine andere Meinung vertritt, ist kein Verbrechen. Bevor der Musiker, der am 16. April 1970 als Stephan Musiol in Wolfsburg geboren wurde, im Jahr 1989 OOMPH! gründete, spielte er bereits im Alter von 15 Jahren in einer Band mit seinem Freund Thomas Döppner (alias OOMH!-Gitarrist und Mitbegründer Crap), als beide noch Gymnasiasten waren. 'Mei Semones' sweetly evocative blend of jazz, bossa nova and math-y indie rock is notonly a way for her to find solace in her favorite genres, but is an intuitive means ofcatharsis. "Blending everything that I like together and trying to make something new -that's what feels most natural to me," says the 23-year-old Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. "It's what feels most true to who I am as an artist." Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Semones began playing music at a young age, starting out on piano at age four before moving to electric guitar at age eleven. After playing jazz guitar in high school, she went on to study guitar performance with a jazz focus at Berklee College of Music. College is where she met her current bandmates, including string players Noah Leong and Claudius Agrippa, whose respective viola and violin add softness and multidimensionality to Mei's intricate guitar work. After releasing a slew of singles and an EP in 2022, coinciding with her move to New York City, Mei and her band have since gone on to collaborate with post-bossa balladeer John Roseboro and embark on their first-ever tour with the melodic rock outfit Raavi. Semones chronicles infatuation, devotion, and vulnerability in her songs, complete with sweeping strings, virtuosic guitar-playing and heartfelt lyrics sung in both English and Japanese, that have all become part of her sonic trademark: ornately catchy, genrefusing compositions serving as the backdrop to tender lyrics touching on the universalities of human emotion.

Burial are a no-nonsense black metal trio from the bleak industrial landscapes of Manchester, UK, dedicating our sound to the trvest Satanic, ice-cold, blasphemous and goat worshiping origins of the genre. Our songs are punchy and immediate, with a healthy dose of icy atmospheric riffs, recalling the legends Darkthrone and Immortal. We also show an underlying British charm, dark and absurd sense of humour, channeling a slight crust punk attitude akin to Discharge. Vocalist Derek Carley comments: "We're proud to release our foreboding new album Rejoice In Sin. Operating since the late 2010s, Vienna-based sound artist the concept horse has quietly amassed a distinctive and diverse discography, drawing inspiration from the rich traditions of musique concrète, noise, plunderphonics, microsound, and free improvisation. “Public Detail” follows releases on labels such as FALT and czaszka rec., as well as the artist’s own eë editions, and neatly encapsulates the polyglottic breadth of the project. Patinaed piano loops and wistful ambience give way to chance percussion environments, beat research, and treated location recordings, resulting in a suite of evasive and diffuse music informed by dialectics such as repetition/unrepeatability and formal rigor/chaos.

And if you think this sounds awfully lot like a scam, you’re probably right: „Regression Session“ is just a front of their illegal black market operation, trading raw uncut gems on a large scale. Just listen to the opener and title track and you won’t exactly have a strong case for the Zillas selling out, but rough as it is, this thing is capable of destroying any dancefloor it touches.

Looking at their recent releases it’s fair to say the Z’s are on quite a run, putting out music on labels like Permanent Vacation, Throne Of Blood, Multi Culti or Ivan Smagghe’s Disques de la Mort. Tunes like the sneaky rough slow burners „Underling“ or „Start Digging“ sound like they could be lifted from the latter’s infamous DJ sets, while the deceptively titled „Cha Cha Cha“ or closer „Casual Observer“ justify the „Acid“ in the artist name. „Shining Snakes Across The Lake“ is what some years might have been called a mid-tempo house roller and probably counts as downtempo these days. Speaking of tempos, the penultimate „Sweet Days Of Discipline“ starts of masquerading as reaaally downtempo, but ends up throwing 155bpm kick drums at you, so better watch out, all you k-hole ravers! Let’s not forget to talk about „bquiet“, which is what you’d call mid-tempo house these days (125bpm) and uses the eternally banging combination of a jacking beat, a polyrhythmic bass line, some lead-synth stabs and talking vocal slices. You can practically smell the sweat.

So what’s left to say? What you see is what you get: They are Zillas, and they are on Acid. And they provide a collection of eight tunes that probably each don’t necessarily have a double-digit amount of tracks in their DAW projects, and that’s exactly what makes them so forceful. Join the regression session!

Anile returns with yet another killer EP for footnotes. One of the scenes most talented and respected producers is really getting back into the groove after the success of the Ceremonial EP released in late 2023.

This EP starts off with Save Love, an emotional piano roller with DRS which is the perfect follow on to Constant Reminder. Lush chords complimented by some of DRS’s best vocal performances.

Soundtrack for a Film ist zwar subtiler als die Alben von Factory Floor, trägt aber immer noch den typischen Ansatz des Duos. Soundtrack for a Film führt die Fähigkeit von Factory Floor, ausgedehnte, sich entwickelnde Tracks zu kreieren, zu einem logischen Abschluss, und das Album könnte als ein zweieinhalbstündiger Schnitt gehört werden. Trotz der Länge verlieren Gurnsey und Void dank ihrer sorgfältig ausgewählten Motive nie den Fokus. Da Factory Floor die organischen und mechanischen Aspekte von Metropolis und ihrer Musik auf Soundtrack for a Film ausbalancieren, erreichen sie das Beste aus beiden Welten - ein Auftragswerk, das genauso originell ist wie ihre eigenen Alben.

Research Records teams up with organist and synthesist E. Bobby G. to release his sophomore album, Bobby Business. Once again, the album is primarily centered around the 1982 Kawai DX900, but it masterfully explores more genres than his debut, Giving You M.O.R.E.

Bobby Business was recorded in 2022 after E. Bobby G. received an eviction notice from his beloved sharehouse of 12 years. After moving out, he stored the organ at his workplace, Bakehouse Studios, where his boss let him use the space overnight to record until the early hours. The remainder of the album was recorded in his old studio space, NGBE.

The first track, "Ha-Ha," is as meditative as it is glittery, with floating sustained chords. "Big Boy" and "Disco Shift" bring back a slightly more polished E. Bobby G. sound—lo-fi library music with bright tones that will appeal to fans of proto-electronic icons like Brian Bennett. Tracks like "Lucky Strike" and "Tropical Dino Ride" are video game music dreams, featuring West Coast lead lines and strutting percussion. The second half of the album explores spaced-out '90s downtempo and dub elements, with a distinctive refinement that hides the fact it was created primarily using the Kawai DX900.

Bobby Business closes with "Lillian," a sonic dedication to the artist's Grandmother, with a more traditional song structure that hints at what Bobby has planned next.

BRUJERIA is an extreme Mexican-American metal band founded in 1989 in Los Angeles. Under cover of pseudonyms, its original members were the guitarist Dino Cazares ( FEAR FACTORY ), Jello Biafra ( DEAD KENNEDYS ), the drummer Pat Hoed, bassist Billy Gould ( FAITH NO MORE ) and singer Juan Bruno. BRUJERIA first appears as a terrorist group having kidnapped the bosses of Roadrunner Records in order to be able to release a record. This joke having been denied, the group appears as a parallel project that is characterized by the themes of satanism, terrorism, sex, rebellion, and politics. The group forges a reputation of psychopaths by playing on stage , with hooded or masked with scarves, titles called "Marijuana" or "Brujerizmo ( the word "Brujeria" which means "witchcraft" ). BRUJERIA is Mexican hence the name and lyrics in Spanish. Dino Cazares ( exFEAR FACTORY ) was the guitarist. The musicians of BRUJERIA keep their identities secret but it is known that ex-FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares, FEAR FACTORY's Asesino and Raymond Herrera, as well as Billy Gould, ex-FAITH NO MORE, have worked on guitar, drums and bass, Nicolas Barker ( ex-CRADLE OF FILTH etc ) takes also part of the butchery, just to name a few...

A surreal mosaic of eerie chant processionals, tape-rot trickery, and panicked oud madness. These are sonic forgeries of atavistic heritages, recorded by analog means using esoteric techniques."" They have been known by many names: The Givers of Illness; The Bandylegged Riders of the Ill-Promised Sun, etc_ Honed and expanded through their travels, Ak'chamel's singular sound comprising desert-scorched psychedelia, post-apocalyptic shamanism, and bizarre ritual folk is as unique as the physical theater of their otherworldly live performances.

Iranian multi-instrumentalist Kamyar Arsani (Faraway Ghost) and Indian-born drummer/electronic music producer Ravish Momin (Sunken Cages) create their own brand of digital folk music that draws on Sufi mysticism, traditional Persian Music, street rhythms from Mumbai and contemporary electronic music at once. Momin accompanies Arsani's vocals and daf (frame-drum) with a masterful blend of electronic and acoustic percussion, including live-looping via his unique drum-loop performance system.

Jonny Tobin is a Grammy and JUNO-nominated artist based in Vancouver. His sound resides in an alternate dimension between 90's video games and 60's Blue Note records, where fat synth funk grooves playfully collide with abstract jazzy undertones. To date, Tobin has released 5 original albums, making numerous official Spotify editorial playlists to the tune of over 10 million streams. As a live performer, recently Tobin headlined the 2023 Vancouver Jazz Festival and opened for notable acts like Adi Oasis, CARRTOONS and Braxton Cook. After the success of his 2019 vinyl debut "Sunrise" on Austin Boogie Crew Records, Tobin began work on Steppin' Out, his new and exceptional LP full of catchy modern funk songs. On this magnetic album executive produced by Austin Boogie Crew (ABC), the label connected Tobin with vocalists from all over. Featured collaborators include XL Middleton, Shiro Schwarz, Maya Killtron, The Vapor Caves, Rojai and Daniel David (FKA Trailer Limon), many of whom made previous appearances on ABC. Driven by Tobin's stellar production and synth wizardry, this project is a testament to the familial strength of the modern funk community in both good times and bad.

Lukas Somers, also known as SOLAK, delves into deep emotions with his new album Atlas, set for release on November 15 via Capitane Records. After his first album Green came out four years ago, Somers embarked on an introspective journey, playing each instrument himself. In 2021, accompanied by Steven Van Gelder and a few musicians, he recorded the album at Ocean Sound Studios in Norway, inspired by the surrounding seascape and perpetual daylight. Somers overcame the challenges of the pandemic by also playing the bass and guitar. After six days of recording and months of post-production, eight tracks were finalized. Atlas stands out with increased vulnerability, while remaining true to the authenticity that defines SOLAK.

During the ‘Bad With Names’ promo campaign, Liam Shortall produced 108 new demo ideas for corto.alto, a process not focused on perfection, but rather with the aim to produce as many ideas as possible and deepen his individual writing and production style. Early 2024, he had 108 ideas in a folder - not fully composed tracks that would be placed well on a standard 12 track album, but not throw away ideas either. He decided to dedicate the following 4 months to finish 30 of these tracks; recording some of his favourite musicians in his home studio and remotely. The goal wasn’t to make a perfectly clean and polished album, but to get these ideas out into the world and explore new grooves, sound design worlds and composition ideas Each track has its own single artwork created from photos that Liam took on tour over the last year. The process of making these artworks was very similar to the music: create something from the material you have without doubting yourself - focusing on the creative process rather than the perfect end results.

"Growing up collecting and sampling records was an education, whether we realized it or not," he explained. Grimez records and produces music using analog gear to emulate the instrumentals that he's always loved as he works with some of the best musicians in the Cincinnati area to bring his ideas to life. Among others, Jonathan Luck Spaulding and Josh "Mojo" Cole made several appearances on guitar throughout the record. Every Doctor Bionic release is accompanied by a unique, thought-provoking album cover. Siebzehn Minuten, größtenteils instrumental, wunderbar zu Tränen rührend, vor Milz und Absinth triefend. Indem er seinen Drinking Songs zwanzig Jahre später neues Leben einhaucht, hat Matt Elliott uns ein kostbares Geschenk gemacht: die Möglichkeit, Drinking Songs zum ersten Mal wieder zu hören.

Das Trio "Last Bolt Ceremony" spielte sich mit einer gelungenen Mischung aus Grunge, Stoner- und Punkrock in den letzten zwei Jahren einmal quer durch die Republik, um erste Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zu lenken und konnte über überzeigende Auftritte erfolgreich Fans gewinnen.

Das nun mit Spannung erwarteten Debütalbum von LAST BOLT CEREMONY: "Neuzeit" erscheint Ende November 2024 via Paranoia Productions Braucht es noch eine neue Stoner-Band, wo doch jede Woche hunderttausende neue Songs auf Portalen wie Spotify veröffentlicht werden? Aus Sicht der drei von LBC ist die Antwort ein klares "Ja", auch wenn sie genau wissen, dass sie die Musik nicht neu erfunden haben. Doch bereits mit ihrer ersten selbst-vertriebenen Demo-EP und dem Drang, ihre Songs live in die Welt zu tragen, erspielten sich Last Bolt Ceremony auf diversen Festivals wie Stoned From the Underground, Motorville und Choppermania in kürzester Zeit eine erste treue Fangemeinde. Das nun erscheinende erste Studioalbum "Neuzeit" beschreibt den neuen Hafen der drei, die schon in Bands wie Daily Thompson, Addicted to Machines, Dan Dryers und den Diabolic Tigerqueens gespielt haben. Über mehrere Wochen von Jens Kriegel (Addicted to Machines) produziert und von Tony Reed (Mos Generator, Pentagram) gemastert, verbindet das Album die Vielfalt von Natur und Industriekultur (Punkrock und Stonerrock) optimal und stellt somit auch für Last Bolt Ceremony eine Verbindung von alter und neuer Zeit dar. Das Cover-Artwork, das von Ex-Daily-Thompson-Schlagzeuger Matze zusammen mit der Band entworfen wurde, verdeutlicht diese Vielfalt von Alt und Neu des Kosmos' der Band optimal. Mit "Neuzeit" verbinden die drei Westfalen ihre abwechslungsreiche Reise in eine neue Gitarrenära mit einer guten Prise Hitpotential, bereit für den nächsten Schritt.
