Jim Jarmusch und Anika haben sich zum ersten Mal 2022 bei der Feier zum 15-jährigen Jubiläum von Sacred Bones getroffen, wo sowohl Anika als auch SQÜRL aufgetreten sind. Jim war sofort von Anikas Auftritt beeindruckt, während Anika Jim als Mentor bewunderte, der seiner einzigartigen Vision während seiner ganzen Karriere treu geblieben ist. Dieser gegenseitige Respekt führte zu einer kreativen Zusammenarbeit, die in dem eindringlichen Soundtrack für Jarmuschs Film Father Mother Sister Brother gipfelte. Jim lud Anika zunächst ein, eine Coverversion von Jackson Brownes ,These Days" aufzunehmen, inspiriert von Nicos legendärer Version. Dieser von Anika arrangierte Track wurde in Berlin mit dem Streichquartett Kaleidoskop aufgenommen und erscheint als Bonustrack auf dem Album unter dem Titel ,These Days (Berlin Version)". Später mischte Jim eine minimalistischere Version des Songs und fügte mehrere E-Gitarren-Tracks hinzu. Während seines Aufenthalts in Berlin verriet Jim Anika, dass der einzige bereits existierende Track im Film ,Spooky" von Dusty Springfield sein würde. Anika, die eine Live-Version davon gespielt hatte, schlug vor, dass sie ihn covern sollten. Die reduzierte Version, die sie nur mit Gesang, Kontrabass, Fingerschnipsen und einem verzerrten Orgelriff kreierten, wurde als Song für den Abspann des Films ausgewählt. Abgesehen von diesen Coverversionen entstand ein Großteil der Filmmusik aus Improvisationen. Jim und Anika verbrachten Stunden damit, gemeinsam zu improvisieren, was zu einer zweiten Aufnahmerunde in Berlin führte, wo Anika Wurlitzer und E-Gitarre spielte und Jim mit verzerrten E-Gitarren beitrug. Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach New York formte Jim diese Aufnahmen zu kurzen, stimmungsvollen Instrumentalstücken, die zur Filmmusik wurden. Die letzten Feinheiten wurden während eines gemeinsamen Aufenthalts von Jim und Anika in Paris im Centre Pompidou fertiggestellt. Die Musik für ,Father Mother Sister Brother" ist eine experimentelle, kollaborative Klanglandschaft, die nicht darauf ausgelegt ist, sich um eine einzelne Figur zu drehen oder diese zu definieren. Stattdessen ist sie atmosphärisch, wie die Luft, die die Figuren unsichtbar umgibt.

Old-time and traditional music stay exciting for their contrasts. Exacting instrumentation honed through mentorships and late-night jams at fiddler's conventions tangles with a community-sourced inventiveness that influences variants and new sounds. Joseph Decosimo is a master of this genre for this very reason, blending deep technique with an openness and curiosity that keep his music crackling with life. A "marvelous fiddler" (No Depression) and banjo player who braids "exultation and veneration" (INDY Week) into his music, on his third solo album Fiery Gizzard Decosimo gathers a close-knit ensemble of friends from his musical career to infuse his interpretations of fiddle and banjo pieces with a contagious communal joy. As an artist working with traditional music from the South and Appalachia, Decosimo chooses songs based not only on historical significance and lineage but also his own sensory approach. For Fiery Gizzard, his ear was tuned to otherworldly tones and mystery, sourcing from field recordings such as Virginia fiddler Luther Davis' hypnotic version of "Shady Grove" while amping up the music's psychedelic potential. On the middle Tennessee banjo composition "Flowery Girls," a VHS of bluesman Abner Jay inspired Decosimo to rig up a pickup inside a fretless banjo and play it thr ough a tube amp to capture some of Jay's edge and funkiness. But to round out the sound and keep it kinetic meant galvanizing a genre-eschewing crew to jam out - and not in a "spaced-out drooly" kind of way, he laughs, but as a sort of "responsive conversation." Decosimo has always been a community-minded artist. He began playing as a seventh graderin Tennessee, fostering relationships with older players at jams and in homes, a learning mode natural to his inquisitive nature and desire for musical connection. A folklorist by intuition, he later became one by profession, studying with old-time legend Clyde Davenport, teaching in East Tennessee State University's renowned bluegrass program, and receiving his PhD at the University of North Carolina with a dissertation titled "Catching the `Wild Note': Listening, Learning, and Connoisseurship in Old-Time Music." In North Carolina, Decosimo kicked about in the verdant environment of Durham and Chapel Hill's folk and indie scenes, collaborating with artists including Alice Gerrard, Hiss Golden Messenger, and Jake Xerxes Fussell. This community has influenced his own music, including his "sublime and strangely heartening" (Bandcamp Daily) 2022 release While You Were Slumbering and Beehive Cathedral, Decosimo's 2024 "Appalachian mountain music treasury" (New Commute) trio album with Luke Richardson and Cleek Schrey for Dear Life Records. Continuing on this path, Fiery Gizzard is home base for a loose outfit of mostly Tarheel-based musicians from within and beyond traditional music. Inspired by a tour with fiddler Stephanie Coleman (Nora Brown), guitarist Jay Hammond, and synth builder and multi-instrumentalist Matthew O'Connell, Decosimo assembled studiomates based on close friendships and comfort. Coleman, O'Connell, and Hammond contribute to Fiery Gizzard, along with bassist and producer Andy Stack (Helado Negro, Wye Oak), horn player Kelly Pratt (Beirut, David Byrne), Mipso and Fust's Libby Rodenbough, Joseph O'Connell (Elephant Micah), and trad/experimental artist Cleek Schrey. Decosimo's fiddle and banjo work is virtuosic, intricate and simple simultaneously, a testament to his many years of study. On some tracks, his playing or lovely, plain-hearted singing is the centerpiece, such as on his interpretations of Texan street preacher Washington Phillips' 1929 recording "I Had a Good Father and Mother" or the Eastern Kentucky fiddle barn-burner "Glory in the Meetinghouse," famously played by Luther Strong for Alan Lomax. But there's also a trusting open-door policy, like where Southern Appalachian tune "Ida Red" relaxes into Coleman's sweet, confident fiddling and Hammond's loping guitar. As a bandleader, Decosimo's confidence and enthusiasm for the music reveal the heart of traditional music and how it can come to life through community. Fiery Gizzard is Joseph Decosimo as a powerful champion of traditional music - a sponge who soaks up as much as he squeezes out, a responsive artist who makes his genre accessible, and a magnet who can bring musicians of all sorts into his orbit with his same passion.

Frank Sinatras legendäres Balladen-Album “In The Wee Small Hours“ von 1955, ein ikonisches Werk, das
dieses Jahr sein 70. Jubiläum feiert.
Obwohl das Album schon viele Male auf LP und CD veröffentlicht wurde, dürfen die Hörer sich auf eine
Überraschung einstellen. Joe Harley, der „Tone Poet“ schwärmt: „Der Unterschied in der Wiedergabetreue
ist umwerfend. Der Klang ist erstaunlich… Frank ist quasi mit dem Hörer zusammen im Raum. Es ist, als
hätte sich ein Schleier gelüftet“.
Wie bei der Serie üblich wurden alle Produktionsschritte von Joe Harley persönlich überwacht, Kevin Gray
hat bei Cohearent Audio von den analogen Bändern gemastert, das Ergebnis wurde bei Record Technology
Inc. (RTI) auf 180-g-Vinyl gepresst und erscheint in einer luxuriösen Gatefold-Hülle mit Session-Fotos von
William Claxton und Ken Veeder sowie einem Essay von Rita Kirwan.

The new album The Cinnamon Show by Cinnamon Gum is a juicy journey into the golden era of the 1970s, filled with a warm and rich blend of soul and funk.
Recorded using classic analog instruments, this album is a tribute to authentic sound and musical craftsmanship. A unique approach to sound engineering creates a cohesive and immersive atmosphere that accompanies the listener from start to finish. Each single is enhanced by a vibrant music video inspired by iconic music programs like Soul Train and The Midnight Special.
The artist's vocals shine throughout the album, combining deep, sensual phrases with subtle melodies, drawing inspiration from soul legends such as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield. The lyrical layer explores both personal stories and universal themes of love, loss, and hope, making the album an exceptionally intimate and authentic experience.

Released here for the first time on vinyl, Science-Fiction is one of Mazalda's early albums, originally released in 2008 on CD only. Mazalda is a legendary band for anyone who's been to French venues and festivals in the last 20 odd years ; the Lyon-based collective have played – literally – thousands of shows, always with a high level of breathtaking musicianship, sensitivity and energy.

Although mostly known for their fruitful collaboration with raïsinger Sofiane Saidi in the late 2010's, Mazalda started off as a street brass-band circa 2001. Soon, they integrated specific modern elements to their sound : 70's analog synths, psychedelic guitars, electric mandoline, Wurlitzer piano, Ewi electronic saxophone.

Stéphane Cézard, Mathieu Ogier, Lucas & Adrien Spirli, Gilles Poizat and Julien Lesuisse were influenced by numerous styles of instrumental music from across the Eurasian continent since their teenage years ; yet with Science-Fiction they broadened their field of inspiration to both pop and experimental horizons. Gilles Poizat (Orchestre Tout-Puissant Marcel Duchamp) and Julien Lesuisse (Crimi)'s clear and melodic vocals pair with a great sonic depth created by the countless possibilities of instrumental combinations.

Mazalda chose to record a handful of cover versions such as the majestic opener " Thu Og Eg " by Icelandic prog musician Gunnar Thordarson, or a funk-fuelled version of a 1920's protest song by Neapolitan singer Alfredo Bascetta. A majority of the selection, though, is masterfully penned by members of the band.

Science-Fiction captures the fresh and boundless creativity of a young band of mates who, as well as being top-rank interprets, draw unique inspiration from timeless musical wells. It just wasn't fair that this album never got released on vinyl or online. Meanwhile, Mazalda are still alive and well, as they released their latest album Special Key in 2023 (Airfono) and are currently playing shows across France and Europe with Franco-Egyptian singer Hend Alrawy (Orange Blossom) as "Zerzura".

An enthralling weave of cathartic, introspective spirituality and thrumming, industrial darkness; The Wounded Healer is the first full-length from PREYRS, the new incarnation of Irish singer-songwriter Amy Montgomery and her band as one formidable entity. From the fourpiece's new janiform name; a twisting, conflicting play on the tenderness and innocence of prayer and the deadly dance of prey and predator to the band's fiercely independent journey, PREYRS is a project already steeped in story. After breathtaking album opener `Humble Eyes', lead single `Wave of Wisdom' immediately lays this concept bare as Amy's incandescent delivery of uncertainty, "lesson learned / don't know how / but here I am again / stronger than before", soars over a defiantly discordant clash of alt-folk slide guitar and Mormecha's pummeling industrial percussion. Elsewhere, the high-octane `Zeros, Ones & Lies' wrestles with the spiritual toll of being fed constant footage of atrocity and catastrophe by a media that accepts no responsibility for their part in the global race to the bottom. As such, the track bursts into furious life with urgent, double-time drums met by guitars distorted to the brink of destruction before the song all but caves in on itself as Amy quietly asks of us "Can you feel it? / like a river / it flows so silently / it flows so violently". By contrast, `Bring Ur Bruises' radiates resplendent, self-empowering positivity. Centred once again on the concept of the wounded healer, `Bring Ur Bruises' implores the listener to welcome their trauma in, to own it and wear it as a paradoxical means of ultimately letting it go as triumphant, reverb-soaked guitars soar ever higher. If it wasn't already clear, PREYRS are no strangers to doing things differently and, across every iteration, the band have always taken a DIY approach to every aspect of their existence. From covering themselves in paint and rolling over every single early album cover to, until recently, booking all of their own shows and festivals as diverse as Glastonbury, Green Man (UK), Blizzarrrd Rock (GER) and Bloodstock (UK), last year the band found themselves touring the UK as Amy Montgomery in support of musical heroes and British post-punk legends New Model Army. Less than a year after the release of his debut album Heavy Glory, Elias returns with his sophomore album. Conceived and recorded in his bedroom between tours, Speak Daggers features appearances from the legendary group The Congos, and Copenhagen artists Erika de Casier and Fine.

Following Heavy Glory came Lucre, a collaborative record with Dean Blunt In June, Elias released the stand-alone single Carry-On Bag, and earlier this August, a two-track collaboration with Jonatan Leandoer96 and Fousheé. Last week, “Tears on His Rings and Chains” was released, once again with Dean Blunt.

Following the monumental release of the JS Zeiter album, Lempuyang is back with a VIP remix 12" packed with stellar reworks. Legendary minimalist and tech house man Dean Decosta kicks off with a Reconfiguration of 'Arrival' that rides on fathom-deep drums with gently churning percussion and endless reverb. Recorded in a remote cabin on the Devon coast, STILL OUT is an album-length collaboration between musician-filmmakers – and childhood friends – Will Cookson and Tom Haverly. A reflection on friendship, landscape and the passing of time, it inspired a road trip from North Yorkshire to North Devon they took together in the summer of 2024, and forms the soundtrack to a film of the same name which had its premiere screening as part of Stroud Film Festival in March 2025.

Like the film, STILL OUT is also an oblique homage to The KLF’s iconic 1990 album Chill Out, which the Gloucestershire-based pair revisited after it turned up unexpectedly a few years back in Tom’s dad’s record collection. Inspired to create their own recording using a similarly free-spirited process, Will and Tom relocated to the Devon coast in late summer 2023, splicing together a 40-minute mix from their personal archive of recordings and found sounds in a remote cabin with no electricity or mobile reception.

"It came together using cut-and-paste techniques, with ongoing shifts and tweaks,” says Will. “The final result was an audio collage that felt like something legendary hip hop producers The Bomb Squad might make - if ambient music was the only material in their sample library."

Using ‘ambient’ as a starting-point rather than an end in itself, they took inspiration from across the musical spectrum – classic-period Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Bill Evans, plus outliers such as 80s singer-songwriter Virginia Astley and the late DJ-producer Andrew Weatherall. The connections, though, are anything but obvious as the audio shifts seamlessly from field recordings and spoken-word interludes to mood pieces and snatches of vintage pop.

Edited and assembled using freely available open source programs, the source material was often radically altered using tools such as “PaulStretch”, a digital sound-morphing algorithm that allows users to stretch audio files to extreme lengths.

"When we found ourselves in a creative slump or unsure how to navigate a tricky part, we'd say, ‘Let's put some syrup on it and slow it down,’” says Tom. “That always helped us get back on track during late-night recording sessions at the cabin."

Part-soundtrack, part-meditative experiment, STILL OUT is intended as a reflection on the mental and emotional shift that occurs when stepping away from the routine of daily life – an album that forms a celebration of our ever-changing relationship to the world around us and the mystery of what it means to pass through time and space.

Die Aufnahmen beleuchten Corsos Gedanken zu seinem eigenen Werk in aufschlussreichen Details. Keine andere Spoken-Word-LP beleuchtet ihr Thema so eindringlich. Marianne Faithfull fordert ihn spielerisch auf, Geschichten zu erzählen, und auf seine Bitte hin beehrt sie ihn mit ihren eigenen Rezitationen seiner Gedichte. Das transzendente Punk-Trio aus Minneapolis in seinem explosivsten Jahr, live aufgenommen auf der Bühne im First Avenue, in der vielleicht am besten klingenden Aufnahme der gefeierten SST-Ära der Band. Diese 4xLP/2xCD-Edition enthält Beau Sorensons Restaurierung der 21 Songs des gesamten Sets vom 30. Januar 1985, dazu 20 zusätzliche Live-Tracks aus dem weiteren Tourneeverlauf des Jahres und ein Deluxe-Booklet mit detaillierten Informationen zu den zwölf geschichtsträchtigen Monaten von Hüsker Dü. Wie klingt eine Legende, in dem Moment, wenn sie geschrieben wird? Betrachtet man das Jahr 1985 durch die dynamische Linse der Independent/DIY-Musik, so gab es Mitte des Jahrzehnts für Hüsker Dü einen kraftvollen und unbestreitbaren Sprint von der rauen Punk-Institution bei SST zur künstlerischen Empathie bei Warner Bros. Die New York Times bezeichnete die Band als "die beste, die aus der Hardcore-Szene hervorgegangen ist". Im Einklang mit diesem Lob zeigte Hüsker Dü ein kreatives Tempo, das in keiner anderen Musikära zuvor oder seitdem jemals erreicht wurde. Nachdem sie im Juli des Vorjahres mit dem Doppelalbum "Zen Arcade" die aufkeimende Alternative-Rock-Bewegung sprengte, veröffentlichte die Band nur sechs Monate später, am 14. Januar 1985, das epochale "New Day Rising" und hörte nie auf, dem Sonnenaufgang über dem Hidden Beach nachzujagen, der das Cover des Albums zierte. Am 30. Januar 1985 erreichte Minneapolis am Abend zum Zeitpunkt des Konzerts -11 °C, was einem gnadenlosen Temperatursturz von 19 Grad gegenüber dem Tageshöchstwert von 8 °C bedeutete. Die 1500 Besucher im First Avenue brauchten jedoch kein T-Shirt, geschweige denn eine Daunenjacke: Von den ersten blendenden Momenten von "New Day Rising" an war klar, dass Bob Mould, Grant Hart und Greg Norton fest entschlossen waren, jedes Molekül im Raum in Brand zu setzen. Außerdem würdigten sie ihre rockigen Vorfahren: mit einer rasanten Version von "Eight Miles High" von The Byrds, einer turbulenten Interpretation von "Helter Skelter" von den Beatles mit Dave Pirner von Soul Asylum, einem Pop-Punk-Remake von "Ticket To Ride" ebenfalls von den Beatles und ihrem charakteristischen Cover von Sonny Curtis' Mary-Tyler-Moore-Titelsong "Love Is All Around" zum Abschluss. Die First-Avenue-Bänder von 1985 zeigen Hüsker Dü in Höchstform mit bereits beliebten Songs, ein paar Jahre bevor sie ihren Status als Blaupause für den kommenden Alternative-Rock-Boom endgültig gefestigt hatten. Dieses Box-Set feiert diese Aufnahmen, die vielleicht die besten Hüsker-Dü-Aufnahmen sind, die während der legendenhaften SST-Jahre der Band produziert wurden. Hayley Williams ist eine dreifache GRAMMY-Gewinnerin, Sängerin, Songwriterin und Musikerin, die vor allem als Frontfrau der legendären Rockband Paramore bekannt ist. Nachdem Paramore mehr als 20 Jahre lang ihren Vertrag mit Atlantic Records erfüllt hatten - einen Vertrag, den Williams als Teenager unterzeichnet hatte -, gaben sie im Dezember 2023 bekannt, dass sie nun endlich eine unabhängige Band seien. Diese Überraschungssammlung wird von Hayley Williams auf ihrem neuen Label Post Atlantic selbst veröffentlicht und zeigt sie in ihrer ganzen Bandbreite. Accomplished musical documenters Analog Africa shine a long-overdue spotlight on the trailblazers of Zimbabwe's Chigiyo sound with this lovingly curated new collection. Emerging from Kwekwe in the 1980s, the group fused reggae grooves with Shona chants, mbira-inspired guitars and bold brass to create a style uniquely their own. Anchored by legendary guitarist Gilbert Zvamaida, Zig-Zag's music carried spiritual weight and infectious energy with classics like 'Gomo Ramasare' and 'Mudzimu Mukuru' shaping the country's cultural landscape. This lovingly curated compilation revives their groundbreaking catalogue and celebrates their fearless creativity while introducing a new generation to one of Zimbabwe's most distinctive and visionary bands.

Manteca’s 2014 album, first time on vinyl. Manteca, the London Latin jazz/salsa funk combo, are back with a first-time vinyl release of their brilliant digital album “Oye” from 2014. “Oye” is a collection of heavy-duty Latin music that reaches well beyond the standard salsa or Cuban dance-band style, appealing to anyone and everyone, from mambo dancers to B-boys, jazz brothers to soul sisters! Led by Colombian singer Martha Acosta and bassist Javier Fioramonti, who have played with everyone from Roberto Pla and Candela, to Alex Wilson’s groups and Salsa Celtica, as well as backing Latin legends such as Joe Bataan, Jack Costanzo, Henry Fiol and Azuquita, this band really cooks! “Que Pasa” is smoking Latin funk, this will get your head nodding and foot tapping for sure.“Oye”, a lovely mid-tempo Afrobeat/Latin jazz fusion number with punching brass and super-funky kit playing. There are three cover versions on the album: Horace Silver’s “The Jody Grind”, a 1960s Blue Note Records soul jazz classic. Manteca does it justice, taking the original and turning it into a heavy Mongo Santamaria style funky Latin soul belter. Sergio Mendes’s “Groovy Samba” is also given the 1960s Mongo “Watermelon Man” style Latin soul jazz treatment. Very hip arrangement, and some fantastic brass soloing in there too. The last one is a brave choice. It’s the timeless bolero standard “Como Fue”, which the band plays beautifully. “Para Pello” (“For Pello”), a conga-style big percussive beat that evolved from Afro-Cuban street carnivals. Secondly, “Bomba Chevere”, a blend of Puerto Rican bomba and Colombian cumbia. The big Afro-Cuban track of the album is “Descarga China”, which has two different mixes. One is a descarga funk mix with some heavyweight kit playing and smoking trumpet soloing, while the other is a more straight-ahead Latin jam with Javier’s upright bass playing underpinning the whole number in a very Cachao way. Big shouts to the whole band, which features some of the best musicians from the London Latin music scene of the last three decades. These cats are as good as you’ll get in Latin music from anywhere across the world.This London Latin music gem has been crying out for a vinyl release for over a decade. At last, it's here. Die frühesten Aufnahmen des legendären Singer-Songwriters Blaze Foley. Einfach, geradlinig und kraftvoll - ,Sittin' By The Road" enthält 12 Titel, die während Blazes ,Baumhaus"-Zeit in Georgia aufgenommen wurden. Die hier vorgestellten Titel wurden Mitte der 1970er Jahre auf Blazes heimischem Tonbandgerät aufgenommen, das er auf seinen Reisen zwischen Texas und dem ländlichen Georgia mit sich führte. Diese Songs zeigen Blazes Talent in seiner frühen Form. Das Album enthält mehrere Songs von Blaze, die heute als Klassiker gelten, darunter ,Cold, Cold World", ,Election Day", ,Clay Pigeons" und ,If I Could Only Fly". Das Album enthält außerdem drei Songs von Foley, die auf keiner anderen Aufnahme zu finden sind: ,The Way You Smile", ,Fat Boy" und der Titelsong. Als Blaze 1989 auf tragische Weise ermordet wurde, war er außerhalb der Kreise der rebellischen Songwriter von Austin kaum bekannt. Heute wird er als einer der großen Songwriter von Texas verehrt. Townes Van Zant und Lucinda Williams haben beide bewegende Hommagen an Blaze geschrieben. Seine Songs wurden von John Prine, Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, Billy Strings und Willie Nelson gecovert.

Originally a cover of track by iconic New York duo Suicide, ‘Ghost Rider’ has been recorded for the first time with brand new vocals from Marc, guest vocals from Jim Thirlwell from Foetus and saxophone from long term Soft Cell collaborator Gary Barnacle. Previously ‘Ghost Rider only existed live as part of the setlist of the band’s live shows during ‘The Art of Falling Apart’ era in 1983. It was performed for the first time in nearly 40 years at Soft Cell’s show at New York’s legendary Beacon Theatre in 2022, with Jim Thirwell duetting with Marc once again. This exclusive 12″ features bonus mixes not featured on The Art of Falling Apart re-issue via Universal.

Up next is Urban Blues Project featuring Bobby Pruitt “We Are One” (Art of Tones Extended Remix) which is being brought out for the first time on vinyl, the original mix was first released in 2001 and the now the Art Of Tones Remix has breathed new life into it making it a must have for anyone who is a fan of the original.

Flipping over to the B side, Urban Blues Project return once again with Love Don’t Live (The U.B.P. Classic Club Mix) with Michael Procter. A Soulfuric classic that has been championed time and time again, first released in 1996 and now being revived almost 20 years later on fresh wax.

Rounding off Volume 1 The Thompson Project & Crackazat featuring Gary L with “Messin’ With My Mind” (Crackazat Extended Remix) this has also never been on vinyl before, released earlier this year this soulful house banger got the touch-up from Bristol’s finest Crackazat who adds his touch to the Florida duo’s offering.
