Mit Young Love veröffentlichen die Boo Boos – bestehend aus Mark Oliver Everett (aka E, Frontmann von EELS) und Kate Mattison von 79.5 – ihr gemeinsames Debütalbum. Entstanden zwischen Los Angeles und Brooklyn, verbindet das Album verspielten Indie-Soul, herzliche Melodien und den unverkennbaren Sound zweier Ausnahmemusiker*innen.

Was mit einem zufälligen KCRW-Radiomoment begann, entwickelte sich schnell zu einem kreativen Hin-und-Her zwischen Küsten und Klangwelten. Produziert wurde das Album vom Duo selbst, aufgenommen u. a. mit Koool G Murder, Tommy Walter, The Chet, Caíto Sánchez und dem Hollywood Boo Boo Orchestra, dirigiert von K.G. Murder.

Das neue Duo Boo Boos – bestehend aus E von EELS und Kate Mattison von 79.5 – kündigt sein Debütalbum „Young Love“ für den 19. September 2025 via PIAS an. Die ersten beiden Singles „C’mon Baby“ und „That’s Not A Thing“ sind bereits erschienen und geben einen Vorgeschmack auf das nostalgisch-soulige Songwriting des Duos. Die Zusammenarbeit begann über 3000 Meilen hinweg zwischen Los Angeles und Brooklyn – und wurde zu einer einzigartigen musikalischen Verbindung. Mit BOO BOOS formieren sich zwei starke Persönlichkeiten zu einem neuen Supergroup-Projekt mit Herz, Humor und viel Groove.

"Oh Snap features twelve very personal songs by Cécile McLorin Salvant - plus a cover of a verse from the Commodores’ 1977 hit “Brick House” - mostly recorded outside of a traditional studio environment and showcasing her genre-spanning tastes and influences. The album features longtime collaborators Sullivan Fortner, Yasushi Nakamura, and Kyle Poole, as well as cameos from singers June McDoom and Kate Davis. The MacArthur Fellow and three-time Grammy-winning singer and composer wrote these short, intimate songs as part of a creative quest: to place spontaneity and joy at the center of her writing process. She originally recorded them alone, at home, never intending for them to be released, using digital tools and effects that she had never played with before, like GarageBand, Logic, AutoTune, Midi plugins, drum loops, vocal effects, reverb, and filters. The songs reflect Salvant’s wide-ranging musical influences from her 1990s childhood in Miami - from boy bands to grunge to classical to folk - and include party tracks with beats, samba grooves, and quiet folk songs.

Producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist and live performer Alek Lee returns with his second LP, an immersive instrumental journey shaped by his raw, smoky, guerrilla-style production. Cold Feet invites you deep into the Alek Lee universe, rich with swirling synths, layered percussion, Balearic guitar lines and dub-infused horns.

From the psychedelic, Sade like grooves of the title track and “Too Soon,” both steeped in cinematic mystique, to the sun drenched energy of “Pino Pino” and “The Right Thing,” which shimmer with Balearic disco flair, the album glides effortlessly across moods and tempos. A highlight arrives with the summer dub anthem “Was Was Was,” featuring long time collaborator and former Shame On Us bandmate Yovav Arzi on electric guitar.

The journey winds down with “Illusions,” a sultry, downtempo banger laced with an oriental twist, before dissolving into the final track “Cold Feet Desert”, a return to stillness, barefoot on white desert sand beneath a star strewn sky.

With a career spanning over two decades, Alek Lee has carved out a unique space in the global music scene. Known for his long, genre defying DJ sets and dynamic live performances, he moves fluidly between dub, house, and his own idiosyncratic productions. As a solo artist and through projects like Shame On Us and Project Runaway, Alek has played some of Europe’s most respected venues and festivals, including Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Glastonbury, Garbicz and Fusion. His releases have earned radio play from BBC6’s Iggy Pop and NTS’s David Holmes and featured on Peggy Gou’s Boiler Room and France’s legendary Radio Nova.

Now based in Athens, Alek continues to evolve his distinctive sound with Cold Feet, his most expansive statement yet.

Lavvi Ebbel was without a doubt one of the most talked-about bands of the Belgian new wave scene. In the early eighties, the band achieved considerable success with singles such as “Give Me a Gun” and “Victoria.” This ten-piece band had a solid live reputation thanks to the original sound of the two guitarists (Marc de Wit and Chris Van Ransbeeck), pianist (Bea Van Ransbeeck), and the steady Eric de Wit on drums. Singer Luckas Vander Taelen and backing vocalist Kristien D’Haeger provided a strong stage presence, supported by the swinging horn section with Jan Weuts and Eric Sleichim, who was the driving force behind Maximalist and Bl!ndman some time later.

Lavvi Ebbel played about 200 times in Belgium and the Netherlands, both in small clubs and at prestigious festivals such as Seaside. On the compilation LP “Get Sprouts,” which is a true sample chart of the music of this period, we find Lavvi Ebbel's “No Place To Go,” a high point in their versatile collaboration with producer Jean-Marie Aerts. “Albü Meth” is arguably the best-known mini-LP, featuring the cult song “Le Cafard.” After the release of the album “Kiss Me Kate,” produced by the American producer David Avidor, the band called it a day in 1983. Following a couple of very successful performances in 2013, Lavvi Ebbel, 12 years later, is making a comeback with the original band members.

Neo funk rising star Buscrates aims high with Blasting Off, his first full-length album. The Pittsburgh-based keyboard cosmonaut has been grabbing ears since his days hooking up beats with the hip hop crew East Liberty Quarters, but after slinging spicy one-offs to a slew of hot labels like Omega Supreme, Voyage Funktastique and Razor N Tape (as well as contributing production to Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y's 2009 project), the time has come for a full-length featuring his growing modern funk repertoire.

"I'm a '90s hip hop dude, but I grew up on that '80s funk stuff," Buscrates acknowledges. DJ gigs provided a working knowledge of the jams that moved a contemporary crowd, and as his collection of keyboards and drum machines grew he began blending the best of both decades with his personal futuristic edge. "I was nice on the MPC but I wanted to have a little more dynamic range with what I was doing," he notes. The self-described "certified synth geek" was soon branching into sounds that recalled '80s legend Kashif crossed with the hip hop bounce of DJ Spinna, and the modern funk community took notice.

For his first full-length, Buscrates has crewed up with an ace team of collaborators, featuring vocalist Sally Green on the bouncy lead single "Lost And Found" and "Eight Nine." Kate Moe Dee takes over mic duties for the second single, "How Ya Gonna Do It," a slinky groove that slides in place alongside groups like the Sunburst Band and Rene & Angela as an exemplar of sophisticated R&B. Adding to those credentials are the sultry vocals of Anda on "Believe," but of course, it wouldn't be a Buscrates set without some stank, neck-snapping instrumentals. "Five Days" and "Sure Shot," both collabos with the drum technician DJ Epik, will rattle speakers and have already been lighting up message boards on recent Buscrates DJ sets. Round things out with some easy gliding, jazzy funk ("Turn It Out" with Brothermartino on flute and "Evergreen" featuring Tony Ozier) and you've got all the ingredients for a high-flying cosmic ride with Buscrates at the controls.

Doch als die beiden vor kurzem über den Begriff Chorophobie stolperten - was so viel bedeutet wie Angst vor dem Tanzen -, beschlossen sie, sich der Ironie hinzugeben und aus ihrer Komfortzone herauszukommen. „Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatten wir immer mit einer ‚Zuhör‘-Mentalität an unseren Platten gearbeitet.“, sagt Harm über die Herangehensweise beim zweiten und dritten Weval-Album („The Weight“ von 2019 und „Remember“ von 2023), „und uns wurde klar, dass wir während unserer gesamten Reise als Produzenten Angst davor hatten, Tanzmusik zu machen.“.

Irish double bassist Caimin Gilmore who can be heard performing with the likes of Shahzad Ismaily, Crash Ensemble, stargaze, The Staves, Sam Amidon, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Aaron Dessner (The National), Ye Vagabonds, and Phoebe Bridgers, among many others, releases his debut record BlackGate, via New Amsterdam Records in collaboration with Dublin Based Ten Spot Records. "Babygirl (Original Soundtrack)" ist der Soundtrack zum Film Babygirl aus dem Jahr 2024 unter der Regie von Halina Reijn mit Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson, Sophie Wilde und Antonio Banderas in den Hauptrollen. Das Album enthält 12 Titel aus der Filmmusik von Cristobal Tapia de Veer und wurde am 25. Dezember 2024 digital über A24 Music veröffentlicht. Separat erschien der im Abspann verwendete Song "Leash" von Sky Ferreira als digitale Single. 2025 wurde de Veers Filmmusik in der Kategorie ,Beste Originalmusik" bei der 97. Nach der Veröffentlichung seines neuen gemeinsamen Albums "Tall Tales" mit Thom Yorke erscheint eine Vinylneuauflage von Mark Pritchards 2016er Soloalbum "Under The Sun" über Warp Records. Pritchard entzieht sich hier wie gewohnt einer einfachen Kategorisierung, was diesem Werk Tiefe und Nuancen verleiht. Er greift auf Klänge und Einflüsse seiner musikalischen DNA zurück: Ambient, Nu-Wave, Avantgarde-Elektronik und Folk, interpretiert sie aber durch einen jenseitigen Filter neu, der "Under The Sun" eher in der Zukunft statt in der Vergangenheit verortet. Riki is the Los Angeles based dark synth-pop outfit commandeered by the mysterious Niff Nawor, a visual artist and musician active in the deathrock / anarcho-punk scenes of the California bay area (formerly a member of Crimson Scarlet), before founding her solo endeavor as Riki in 2017. Niff's desire to explore her own sound manifested in the recording of the Hot City cassette tape in 2017, which featured Chelsey Crowley of Crimson Scarlet, Skot Brown of Phantom Limbs and Pedaof Doomed to Extinction. Released on Commodity Tapes and later reissued on vinyl by the well-regarded Symphony of Destruction label, Riki followed the release of the single with several small tours and festival dates, performing with such acts as Light Asylum, Black Marble, and Trisomie 21.For her self-titled debut album for Dais, Riki explores courage, physicality, and romance across eight timeless synth pop anthems. Produced and engineered by hardware-based synthesist Matia Simovich of INHALT, influences and ideas are worn proudly without deviating from fresh and daring electro-pop territory. Violent Delights is an anthology of stories that meanders through themes of grief, rage, desire and identity. There are stories of the toxicity of addiction, and growing up around religion; stories of overwhelming obsession, isolating abandonment, and empowering anthems of identity, and stark laments about sexual violence. They are each lived experiences, laid bare, reclaimed with every syllable whether dripping in spite or swagger, anger or anxiety. "Loss is a central theme of the album," explains vocalist Kate Price. "For us, we have our own specific version of what that is in these songs, but for anyone listening, it could be the loss of something else - a loved one, a relationship. But we're never mourning loss. We're celebrating it. Loss is almost universally looked at as a negative, but we're finding the positives in those moments. We had to go through hell to get to heaven. Violent Delights is about looking back with gratitude, and even fondness, the closing of one chapter and beginning of another." Jools - comprised of Kate Price, Mitch Gordon, Chris Johnston and Callum Connachie, Joe Dodd, and Chelsea Wrones - has been a name on the lips of clued-up fans and tastemakers since its collective of musicians found each other in the earliest days of 2023. But at the heart of Lucy's music is her rapturous vocal, with which she has experimented more than ever over the course of her first full-length. Many of the pieces on 'Desert Window' started out as vocal improvisations from which she pulled a narrative. Taking cues from the incantatory chanting found in middle English poetry such as 'The Names of the Hare', as well as the prescient imagery in contemporary works like 'The Hearing Trumpet' by Leonora Carrington (1974). "To a larger extent, this became an experiment in placing my voice in a more narrative way, while remaining oblique," Gooch explains. While her previous work could be compared to drawn-out landscapes punctuated with moments of romance and radiance, this album feels grounded in materiality and the everyday. Gooch's voice is at times strident, while elsewhere restrained and broken. "I lost connection to my voice and then had to rediscover it, which was exhilarating. There were these bursts of energy where I'd be messing around and occasionally stumble upon something". There are hushed melodies and exhausted squalls, creating dissonance and space. A prominent Ukrainian experimental music artist Kateryna Zavoloka creates a follow-up to her previous album “Amulet” – the new album "Istyna" features more melodic structures and complex polyphonic layers that deepen the emotional light.

“Istyna,” which translates to “truth” or “verity” in Ukrainian, explores further the concepts of inner liberation and freedom. The album is Zavoloka’s most personal statement – combining her deep-rooted connection to her homeland with experimental sound steppes, polyrhythms, and polyphonic melodies, this album translates resistance of light.

“Istyna” expresses the quiet truth that lies in the heart. It takes an integral approach to Ukrainian folk traditions in a more complex and harmonious sound, where melodies and polyphony are more affluent. Zavoloka recorded traditional Ukrainian instruments, such as the kobza and kolianka, which are embedded in the album's textures. It is raw emotions, from meditative introspection to moments of intense sonic expression.

Ohne den Wunsch, kommerziell zu sein, war SoiSong nicht an die Konventionen einer einfach zu definierenden Verschlagwortung verpflichtet, und in ihrem eigenen, ,neuen, noch nicht kategorisierbaren Genre", wobei "xAj3z" ein Meisterwerk ist. "xAj3z" mischt frei Musikstile und kombiniert verschiedene Ansätze des Musizierens: Künstliche Vokalisten werden von echten Drums begleitet, Jazz-Noir-Arrangements treffen auf die zarte Melodik der Südsee, und Computer werden warm und organisch zum Klingen gebracht. Das Album zeigt keine offensichtliche Genre-Definition und zielt darauf ab, mit dem Hörer auf höchster emotionaler Intensität zu kommunizieren, oft lyrisch, manchmal dunkel, manchmal amüsant und sogar erhebend.

Produziert von Jack Barnett und seinem langjährigen Mitarbeiter und Bark-Psychosis-Pionier Graham Sutton, enthält es Gastauftritte einer eklektischen und unberechenbaren Reihe von Mitstreitern, von Caroline Polachek bis zum britischen Jazz-Kontrabassisten Chris Laurence.
