For our 100th Eccentric Soul 45, Numero returns to our Ohio roots with three replica 45s from the Capsoul universe. Marion Black’s timeless two-sider “Who Knows” b/w “Go On Fool” made a few blipsupon its 1970 release, but has taken on a life of its own soundtracking prestige TV and car commercials around the globe and finally going gold after 65 years. We discovered Ron Harrington’s “Because You’re Mine” demo amongst the Capsoul tapes, a demo cut for founder Bill Moss that never escaped greater Columbus. The mid-tempo harmony joint “It Happened To Me Again” adorns the flip, with a lo-fi funk backbeat tossed in for good measure. Capsoul’s crown jewel group harmony quartet Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr cut just two records in their short time together, but the quartet’s “You Can’t Blame Me” has endured as a classic example of the raw and unhinged soul sound that Numero is known for. Eccentric Soul from the heart of it all.

Harlem Hustlers aka Roberto Masutti and Massimo Berardi, veteran DJs and producers from Rome, make their debut on Groove Culture with ‘You Can Do It’ Feat. Orlando Johnson. Originally released in 2005 by d:vision, the duo now provided a timeless, soulful remix channelling that classic feeling via live instruments.

On Side A ‘You Can Do It’ in all its glory, re-arranged with horns sections, live bass, piano chords and a sweet Rhodes solo to give a funked up, disco flavour to proceedings. On the flip we can find the ‘Get On The Floor Mix’ a more club-leaning groover for the dancefloor.

Another must have release from Groove Culture that represents "The beautiful house music as it must be made". Both versions are vinyl exclusive – don’t sleep.

Dom Dolla makes a triumphant return, with 'Take It', a deep, dark, heaving club mix that combines an evocatively catchy vocal, with a deep groove beat to create one hooky production. Off the back of his 2017 ARIA nomination for Best Dance Release for the huge collaboration with Torren Foot on 'Be Randy', Dom has been busy touring the globe, stewing away in the dark corners of clubs, tweaking 'Take It', until it reached tech-house perfection.

"I put the bones of this tune together in a hotel room while road tripping between gigs in Arizona earlier this year, feeling heavily inspired by the west coast club audiences I was playing to. The vocals were written and recorded while sick in bed, using my tour manager's iPhone earbud microphone and a duvet as my vocal booth. At the time I had planned on replacing my recording with a cleaner take when I got home to Australia, but was never able to recreate something I liked as much, so it stayed! It's been slaying it for me ever since.", Dom Dolla had to say on explaining the origins of 'Take It'.

Named as Pete Tong's artist to watch for 2019

Over the course of nearly a decade making music, Alicia Jeanine and Jed Smith have charted a distinctive course through the history of pop, evoking influences as varied as the 60s folk of early Fairport Convention and Vashti Bunyan, the sunshine pop of Margo Guryan and Laura Nyro, and indiepop touchstones like Dear Nora, Marine Girls and Dolly Mixture. The new album finds Jeanines grappling with themes of personal upheaval and self-excavation, adding weight to their finest set of songs yet. This rare boogie funk record, known only to a select few aficionados, is now available for the first time as a 12 Inch single, featuring four additional unreleased tracks that perfectly capture the Ray Contreras Band’s multicultural, synth-driven funk. The release includes a full sleeve and the story of the band’s journey, from winning the legendary WBLS Budweiser Showdown to their near-miss at the national finals.

Release number 9 is the second 7" on the label, this time from Fradinho with two Jazzy Broken beat / Bruk cuts that feature the legendary Portuguese Jazz Musician (Sax, Flute, EWI) Nanã Sousa Dias!

Milton Wright's perfect deep Soul classic "Keep It Up" has always been a top shelf record, everything about it is almost flawless! Whether it's Milton's silky vocal delivery, the incessant guitar driven back beat or the total space Funk vibe of his omnipresent ARP-2600 synthesizer this record has it all. Originally released on TK Disco's more Soul and Funk orientated Alston label which was home to many legendary artists and records, this 1975 sunshine classic never fails to make people move. A classic rare groove indeed. "The Silence That You Keep" takes up side-B, a jazzy, flute driven love song that again features Milton's perfect voice and some fantastic arrangement. A real gem of a record, with the original 45 changing hands for over £100 a time in used condition.

This is the first time "Keep It Up" has been re-issued in it's original 45 rpm format with the original Alston label artwork. It's been re-mastered, re-pressed and made available again with the permission of TK Disco / Alston Records, Miami Florida, USA.

Official reissue of this sought-after Canadian psychedelic hard-rock album from 1970.
Formed in Toronto in the late 60s, It’s All Meat (the name was taken from a dog food commercial!) soon caught the attention of influential character Jack London (frontman of pre-Steppenwolf band Jack London and the Sparrows) who managed the band and secured a deal with major label Columbia Records.
After recording their first 45, the proto-punk MC5/Stones sounding “Feel It”, the band started working on their first album with the tandem of Jed MacKay and Rick McKim as main songwriters.
“It’s All Meat” was released in 1970 and offered a powerful mix of garage-rock, psychedelia and early hard- rock, drawing influences from bands like the Stones, Country Joe & The Fish, Doors, Velvet Underground... tracks like “Roll My Own” or the lysergic “Crying Into The Deep Lake” are now considered classics of the genre.
Sadly, the band would split soon after the LP was released.

Punk is the Preacher, Rock`n`Roll is the Teacher! Indeed one of the eight cuts onWrite It Down, the new album fromJackson& The Janks, comes from the repertoire of rhythm & blues singer Mamie Perry, first recorded in 1959. The rest areJacksonLynch originals, inspired by his time living and playing music in the Crescent City. Theuniquearrangementsof the band itself have deep roots in NOLA, too, with Matt Bell (Esther Rose) on lap steel, Craig Flory (Tuba Skinny) on bass saxophone and Sam Doores (The Deslondes) sharing backing vocals while trading-off on drums and keys.

Jacksonand the Janks have performed at the Brooklyn Folk Fest, Blackpot Festival (Louisiana), and Oldtone Festival (New York) and did a video session for tastemaker series GemsOnVHS and Jackson a solo session for Paste. Its residency on Fridays in Brooklyn (when they're not on tour) packs the house week after week with fans and folks drawn in by the word-of-mouth buzz and the sound.

Here's a true double-A 45. The A-side, "If We Try," a new cut from Thee Sinseers finds them in a more uptempo pace the band, and thriving! With Joey Quinones and Adriana Flores trading leads on this one, this tune is sure to get the dance floors packed! The B-side, "Give It Up You Fool," features the unmistakable voice of Brian Ponce on lead and finds Thee Sinseers right in their slow and sweet pocket. It's an album cut that simply had to be put on a 45.

Belfast-born Dominick Martin has spent the last 30 years creating. With over 100 Singles and 25 albums, encompassing a myriad of tempos and genres. Painter, Multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer, producer and DJ.

Chelou is the moniker of London-based artist Adam Gray, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer known for his psychedelic blend of folk, blues, and indie electronics. Raised in Camden and influenced by a musically rich environment, Chelou developed a reverb-soaked, dreamlike sound that combines minimal vocals, distorted guitar, ambient textures, and offbeat lyricism. His name, "Chelou," is French slang for "bizarre" or "strange," reflecting his enigmatic and unconventional identity.

He emerged in 2014 with the DIY EP The Quiet, gaining early support from BBC Radio 6 Music DJs like Lauren Laverne and Tom Ravenscroft. Tracks like "Halfway to Nowhere," "Out of Sight," and "Garden" drew attention for their raw, intimate tone and distinctive visual accompaniments. His debut album Out of Sight (2018) expanded his sound and artistic reach, featuring a popular animated video created by Robin Eisenberg.

In the same way that punk or glam rock were evolving at the same time, the "disco" phenomenon generated a plethora of obscure and bizarre studio projects which remained unknown for decades, despite often being more inspired and creative than the few ones that reached stardom and sold millions of copies. 45 rpm singles that remained unsold, sitting in junkshops all over the world for decades hide forgotten gems, revealing genius and avant-garde only guilty of not being at the right place at the right time. Whether it's Moroder-oriented proto synth-wave, groovy space-disco or acid afro funk, volume 1 of the Cosmic Discotheque series is all about rediscovering those forgotten treasures while setting your dancefloor on fire!

Nuke Watch stretch out and zone in on “Wait For It…”, two side-long jaunts that run their freeform M.O. to their own illogical ends. Following on from recent excursions on The Trilogy Tapes and Impatience, they revel in the long format for Patience, crafting a steady assault of haywire rhythms and swampy, off-world ambience.

On the A-side’s Supersonic Percussion Anagram, a battery of electronic and sampled drums - from window-shaking subs to melodic subcontinent percussion - shift from one bar to the next, a continuously morphing, snake-charming ruckus confirming their status as Bushwhick’s finest rhythm purveyors.

For the B-side Nuke Watch mind-meld with fellow NYC phreq Bryce Hackford for Think Peace, a disorienting lurch through the knotty depths of free associative modular synthesis, unraveling spools of intrigue that goes deep into the unknowable.

A labour of love, the album was written, produced and recorded by the band between two studios they built themselves - one in a remote farmhouse on the NSW south coast, the second in a hollowed out water tank under one of their parents houses.

University, the Crewe-based four-piece formed of Zak Bowker (vocals/ guitar), Ewan Barton (bass), drummerJoel Smith and Eddie (mascot), release their debut album, McCartney, It'll Be OK.

Recorded with producer Kwes Darko (Sampa The Great, Denzel Curry) at Damon Albarn's Studio 13 in London, McCartney, It'll Be OK furthers the extremely exciting beginnings of University's 2023 debut EP, Title Track, with the hooks now brighter and more melodic, the breakdowns heavier and the lyrics more refned. Teik Aro is a Berlin-based DJ and producer from Italy. His first self-releases and early influences were driven by a passion for acid techno and high-energy, rave-inspired sounds, reflecting his love for raw and intense rhythms.

Over time, his sound has evolved into something deeper and more refined. Now, he explores a more organic and mental side of techno, focusing on seamless atmospheric flows while keeping the energy and pulse that defined his early work. Constantly shaping his sound, Teik Aro stays true to his roots while pushing forward into new sonic territories.

Seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre prägt Caspar Brötzmann einen unverkennbaren Sound - infernal, radikal, kompromisslos. Unbeirrt verfolgt er seinen eigenen Weg, jenseits klarer Genregrenzen. Als Sohn des berühmten Saxofonisten Peter Brötzmann fand er früh seine künstlerische Identität und entwickelte eine einzigartige Klangsprache, die sich in brachialer Katharsis entlädt. Seine Musik ist keine Anpassung an Trends, sondern eine sensible, leidenschaftliche, fast autistisch anmutende Annäherung an Verzweiflung und Wut - und doch voller Hoffnung. Mit seiner virtuosen Eigenständigkeit am Instrument ist er eine Ausnahmeerscheinung. Ein atonaler Hendrix, made in Germany. Nach der Veröffentlichung seiner ersten Komposition "The Lovers And Destroyers" mit Caspar Brötzmann Bass Totem im Herbst 2024 veröffentlicht der international renommierte Gitarrist nun eine Platte mit seiner Band Massaker beim deutschen Label Exile On Mainstream. Es ist die erste Aufnahme der genreprägenden Band seit 26 Jahren nach dem letzten, 1999 erschienen Album "Mute Massaker". "It's a Love Song" besteht aus zwei unterschiedlichen Versionen seines Songs "All This Violence", die im Januar 2025 in Wien und Dresden mit Saskia von Klitzing (Drums) und Eduardo Delgado Lopez (Bass) aufgenommen wurden. Angesichts der aktuellen Weltlage entschied Brötzmann, mit "All This Violence" ein klares Zeichen zu setzen. Er selbst schreibt dazu: " Schon nach ein paar Augenblicken war klar: was ich hier hörte, hatte die Botschaft, die Kraft und spiegelt unser Zeitgeschehen wieder. Keine von meinen Studioaufnahmen hatte diese Power. Und das war nur die eine Seite, es bedeutete auch den Spalt zwischen Schwarz und Weiß zu finden, zwischen Hell und Dunkel und zwischen Leicht und Schwer, wohin mit all meinen anderen Songs? Lange, lange habe ich nach der Achse gesucht und völlig unerwartet stand sie plötzlich neben mir im Raum . . ."

But is dance music, whose traditional motto is to "jack", compatible with such a mantra? DJLMP shatters these apparent antinomies of relaxation and danceability with three new edited heaters here, designed for triumphant joie de vives of the kind that do not poke, prod or demand too much from us. A later Diana Ross sample is put on heavy opening rotation on 'Diana's Loop', while similarly echoic verboffs are exchanged on 'Spring Touch', where dub delays haze the mix into something a little more convulsive. Space for wonky downtime is reserved on the B's 'Reggatronic', in a rare case of hip, lo-fi breathing room reserved for a dance record.
