Die aus Las Vegas und Orange County stammende Hardcore-/Punk-Band M.I.A. spielte 1987 ihr letztes Konzertund löste sich auf. Mitte 1988 gründete Sänger Mike Conley die Band Naked Soul zusammen mit dem ehemaligen M.I.A.-Mitglied LarzPearson am Schlagzeug und seinem langjährigen Freund Jeff Sewell am Bass. Inspiriert von Bands wie The Replacements, den kanadischen The Doughboys oder The Nils, begann Mike, Songs zu schreiben, die den poppigen und doch kantigen Sound, der auf M.I.A.s ,After The Fact" seinen Anfang genommen hatte, mit vielschichtigen Arrangements und Gesangsharmonien weiterzuentwickelten. Diese erste Besetzung löste sich bald auf, doch Mike gab nicht auf und stellte eine neue Band zusammen mi tMike Brown am Schlagzeug und Carlos Soria von The Nils an der zweiten Gitarre. Die Band ging dann mit Richard Andrews (Big Drill Car, All, Jawbreaker usw.) ins Studio und nahm die drei sorgfältig ausgearbeiteten Popsongs auf, die hier zu hören sind, darunter der Naked Soul-Klassiker, ,Lonely Me, Lonely You", der ihnen schließlich einen Vertrag bei einem Major-Label einbrachte. Unterdessen begann der ehemalige M.I.A.-Gitarrist Nick Adams, mit dem Schlagzeuger Miles Gillettvon El Grupo Sexo am Schlagzeug und Bob Gnarly von Plain Warp am Bass zu spielen. Sie nannten das Projekt Flatbed und machten sich daran, einfach nur Spaß zu haben und rohen, harten und melodischen Rock'n'Roll zu spielen. Danny Wallis von Don't No übernahm bald den Bass und die Band ging ins Studio, um ein paar Eigenkompositionen und ein Tom-Waits-Cover aufzunehmen. Diese Veröffentlichung fängt einen Ausschnitt aus der Zeit Ende 1989 ein, als zwei Bands mit gemeinsamer musikalischer Vergangenheit unterschiedliche Wege einschlugen. ‘White Series #4’ marks the debut EP of Marc Feldmann and Dominik André as a producer duo. The record opens with ‘Natural Oscillation’
, a hypnotic techno piece where flowing percussion meets subtle trance influences. ‘A Breeze of Mistral’ builds on this energy with layered repetition and a deep pulse that unfolds gradually, drawing the listener further in. On the flip side, Audrey Danza reinterprets Natural Oscillation with a direct, dancefloor-focused approach. She sharpens the groove, raises the tempo, and pushes the track forward with her signature, driving drums and a tightly locked kick, transforming the original’s hypnotic flow into a no-frills cut. The EP slows the pace with ‘Discernible Rhythms’, a reflective, 80s-influenced synth chugger that adds warmth and restraint to the record. Released as a hand-stamped white label on Subject To Restrictions Discs, White Series #4 reflects and continues the label’s contribution to the more understated forms of electronic club music.

This 7-inch singles features a previously unreleased cover of Bob Marley's iconic "Sun Is Shining," performed by the prolific Jamaican singer Ronnie Davis of The Itals and The Tennors. The multi-track tape was famously mixed by Prince Jammy into the popular "Jammys A Shine" dub, without any vocals. More recently, Prince Fatty mixed his version "Dub Is Shining" for the acclaimed Prince Fatty Meets The Gorgon album (VP4246) in 2023. The vocal was never mixed or issued, for reasons unknown, but with Prince Fatty's usual magic touch, it finally finds its way to the public after nearly five decades. Ronnie Davis, 1950-2017, was one of Jamaica's beloved voices during his long career. He was better known as a member of the rocksteady group The Tennors, and later with The Itals, but during the 1970s he was on of Bunny Striker Lee's top vocalists.

The Family Men return with their second full-length effort “Co/de/termination”. Since the release of their debut “No Sound Forever”, they have played countless shows, both in their native Sweden and abroad, garnering a reputation as one of the most intense and uncompromising live bands around. With this seventh instalment of retweaked heat, Perro Bueno Edits once again prove that less is more when you know exactly what you're doing. Both refixes strike a sweet spot between respectful crate-digger sensibility and dancefloor punch while updating Afro-funk classics without sanding off their soul. 'TFOM' puffs out its chest with big, bold, playful horns leading the charge as Latin vocals bring some sunshine and funky bass keeps things moving. 'SMPP' slows the tempo, which means more room to luxuriate between the dumpy kicks and appreciate the sharp horns and organic percussion before some raw vocals bring a Brownian funk edge.

While self-proclaimed "garage and jackin' house" revivalist Marc Cotterell has developed his Plastik People label into a fine outlet blessed with an ever-growing family of artists, he still maintains a steady release schedule of his own. The British producer is naturally in good form on his latest Plastik People missive. Check first opener 'Take Your Time', where breezy piano stabs and deliciously soulful vocals ride a squelchy bassline and loose-limbed garage-house beats, before admiring the more "trad" soulful house flex of the gorgeous and lightly funky 'Mysterious Ex'. Over on side B, 'Feed The Soul' is a string-laden slab of revivalist New Jersey garage-house goodness which doffs a cap to the early 1990s, while 'This Life Living' re-casts Jill Scott r&b classic 'Golden' as a rolling soulful house delight.

Lady Jane Beach land on Slacker 85 with their lo-slung label debut, ‘Binman’. A short, sharp shot of minimal rhythm and rhyme, ‘Binman’ is the sound of the enigmatic London-based trio soundtracking their trips around the capital’s outer ringroads seeking adventure, trouble and corrupted drum machines. Blessed with loose, confident production and verses like glue, Slacker boss Seth Troxler doubles down on his support with a beefed-up, roadtested club edit.

An undisputed trailblazer of UK rave, Zed Bias fires up his studio for two contrasting takes on ‘Binman’, each capturing split sides of the soundsystem culture he helped define. Zed’s ‘Weighty Dub’ goes unapologetically raw, transitioning between skippy beats, heavy bass drops and a fusebox melody out of the darkness. From the basement straight through to the beach club, the ‘Nostalgia Mix’ makes good on its promise of misty-eyed reverie, recalling the first-wave of UKG domination with lush strings and steppin’ drums that still sound like a bright future.

From one generation to the next, fast-rising DJ and producer HalfPint is already familiar to dancers of Circoloco's famed Terrace and Garden. His take on ‘Binman’ finds a fresh frequency, converting the rhymes of the original into a precision-tooled tech house groove, primed for the summer season.

American Man, produced by Cracker’s Johnny Hickman, is “part blues, part rock, part folk, all slathered with early 80s punk attitude” and “a success on every level” according to the geniuses at American Songwriter. We’re not arguing and you have no right to, either. This one’s earned our esteemed Barrel Select designation, pressed on Bloodshot-Red vinyl.

The Bay Area’s electro-pop underground gets a neon-lit revival with a limited repress of The Limousines’ cult-classic 2010 debut album, Get Sharp, on frosted pink vinyl.

Blanche Biau, the enigmatic solo project blending 80s wave, post-punk, and shoegaze into a dreamy yet melancholic soundscape, is set to release a remix album of her sophomore record ‘Heartcore’. The new album, titled ‘Heartcore (Remixes)’, will be released via the Zurich based label Subject To Restrictions Discs.

Following the success of ‘Heartcore’, released in July 2025, the remix album brings together a group of artists to reimagine Blanche Biau’s hauntingly beautiful tracks. The remixers include Danzinger99, Donna Haringwey, Lumpex, Lust For Youth, Spear Flower and Milan STHC.

Blanche Biau on the remix album: «Heartcore is deeply personal to me, but I also imagined it as a living, breathing entity that could evolve. Collaborating with these incredible artists has been a dream – they’ve taken my songs to places I never thought possible. This remix album is a celebration of reinterpretation and connection.»

Blanche Biau is a solo project hailing from Zurich, Switzerland. Known for her DIY approach and ability to channel influences from 80s wave, post-punk, and shoegaze into a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, Blanche Biau has quickly established herself as a rising star in the alternative music scene. Her music combines raw emotion with dreamy atmospheres, resonating deeply with audiences worldwide.

With 'Tangkoa II', Belgian producer and multi-instrumentalist Dijf Sanders invites listeners into a vibrant and immersive sonic world shaped by travel, collaboration and instinct. Released via Unday Records, the album grew out of field recordings captured during a journey through Vietnam, later transformed into rhythmic, colourful compositions that feel both intimate and expansive.

Rather than building tracks piece by piece on a screen, Sanders approaches music as something alive and unfolding. Sounds are performed and reshaped in real time, giving the album a spontaneous energy, as if the music is discovering itself while you listen. Together with drummer and producer Simon Segers, he creates a fluid dialogue between electronic sounds and human rhythm, balancing precision with freedom.

Improvisation lies at the heart of 'Tangkoa II'. Contributions from Vitja Pauwels (guitar), Viktor Perdieus (saxophone) and Louise van den Heuvel (bass) bring a subtle jazz sensibility to the music, pushing it toward hypnotic grooves and unexpected turns.
