pays tribute and gratitude to the local area.

As a DJ, I prioritize three key points when selecting music. I'll introduce this record in relation to those points.
The first is the power of the intro. I'm always grateful for killer tunes that get the floor moving naturally. The A-side, which begins with a catchy trombone, is a
perfect example of that. Natural Roots' performance is so dark that it almost makes you forget that you're in Osaka, the city of laughter.
The second is about the lyrics. Especially in times like these, I want to share a positive message with everyone. Frontman Livity Tabasuke sings straightforwardly
about his feelings for the Earth. It reminds us of the gratitude we often forget in our daily lives. Above all, his voice is soft and soothing.
The third is the 7-inch format. If you're going to take it to a venue, nothing beats a small, light record. The older I get, the more my hips instinctively tell me to.
The dub-inspired instrumental tunes on the B-side are also fantastic, and the album's functionality continues to increase. I also appreciate the addition of the
shinobue flute, a unique instrument unique to Senshu, a renowned Kansai reggae region, which adds to the local feel.
This album, which captures all of these elements, is extremely practical for me. I'm sure I'll be using it for a long time to come. I sincerely hope that the limited
edition of 300 records reaches reggae fans all over the country.

Berlin-Hamburg duo Session Victim return to the ever-reliable Delusions Of Grandeur imprint with Chapter Two of their Sidequests trilogy, marking yet another high point in their almost twenty year journey through heartfelt, sample-rich music. Overflowing with analog warmth, sundrenched textures and irresistible grooves, the release also features a stellar remix from label cofounder and deep house pioneer Jimpster who kicks off the EP. Here he takes Behind The Glass into spaced out house-not-house territory. With crisp drum programming, trademark Rhodes, and subtle pads that build over time, his version delivers that late-night sophistication he's known for—steering the downtempo original in a clubbier direction without losing its blissed-out essence. Up next we have a brand new collaborative effort with long time friend, label mate and fellow sample nerd Nebraska. Make It Happen is a dusty, slo-mo house groove featuring delicate keys, euphoric strings and that unmistakable sense of journey. It’s just the kind of low-slung epic house they do best—intimate yet club-ready, nostalgic but never retro. Flipping over, Too Soft To Be Loud, another collaboration with Viken Arman, follows with a jazzy, almost samba-esque rhythm and swirling atmospherics. Loose percussion, catchy guitar riffs and Rhodes stabs collide with off-kilter dub FX and soft vocal snippets giving the track a laid-back, live-band feel that harks back to their See You When You Get There era. Hubcap Candy dives deep into funk territory. Nebraska’s on point boogie bassline drives the track forward as crunchy drums and layers of synths create a dreamlike haze. It’s loopy, moody, and finds Session Victim at their very best. Closing out the EP we have the original of Behind The Glass, a headsy, beatdown piece that slowly unfolds over an unconventional brass-like bassline and delicate guitar textures, paying homage to the golden age of Trip Hop haziness and it’s pioneer turntable spirit. Blending crate-digging sensibilities with forward-thinking production, this latest release solidifies Session Victim’s reputation as genre-blurring tastemakers, and their chemistry with Delusions Of Grandeur remains as strong as ever

FINALLY! The very first commercial release of two legendary remixes of Arthur Russell's "In The Light Of The Miracle". Both are widely regarded as transcendent masterpieces and very much befitting of the title “holy grails”.

These long-beloved mixes are the types you'd wish would last for eternity. With almost 30 minutes of music here, we very nearly get our desires granted. At last, these jaw-dropping mixes are widely available to every Arthur fan in the world. This is musical perfection.

The deep Loft classic "In The Light Of The Miracle" remained unreleased during Arthur's lifetime, finally discovered when Phillip Glass included the original version on Another Thought on Point Music in 1993. As Steve Knutson told us, when Another Thought was being put together, the plan was to release a companion album of remixes that was overseen by Steve D'Aquisto but the project only got as far as these two remixes of "In The Light Of The Miracle".

Some dodgy scans of some centre label designs suggest that Point Music might’ve been planning to release these on a 12" but it didn’t happen. The story goes that Gilles Peterson heard the remixes on a visit to the Point Music offices and wanted to release them on Talkin’ Loud. We’re not sure how many white label copies made it out into the wild, but again, these remixes didn’t make it to a proper release.

These remixes both extend and undeniably enhance the original, elevating it to new heights. The 13 minute remix on the A-side is by Danny Krivit & Tony Smith with editing duties performed by Tony Morgan. As ever with Arthur, the music is almost impossible to describe: is it Disco? Garage House? Avant Garde? None of these tags do full justice to its sheer majesty. You best just listen. Stretching out the original with some unbelievably great percussive elements, until we're in a deeply spiritual, otherworldly realm, it's just too beautiful for words. As many have claimed, it's the prototype for EVERYTHING.

The "Ponytail Club Mix (Part 1 & 2)", produced by Tony Morgan in the mid-90s, is in a more up-tempo style, with vocals higher in the mix, the BPM upped to 120 and the addition of a housey 4/4 kick drum. A 14 minute epic, you could say this is a more straight ahead "club-friendly" mix (but can things ever be that straightforward with Arthur?!) It also has some really interesting vocal parts not used in the other versions, including some vocals from guest poet Allen Ginsberg.

These remixes are part of the same original project that also produced the Another Thought album so it seems only right that they have a sleeve that matches. Thanks again to Janette Beckman for letting us use another of her photos of Arthur and the rest of the design follows what Margery Greenspan, Tina Lauffer and Michael Klotz did for Another Thought back in 1994.

Simon Francis remastered the original audio for both tracks and Cicely Balston's precise cut for Alchemy at AIR Studios ensures this 12" well and truly slaps. The immaculate Record Industry pressing will ensure this incredibly sought-after treasure finds a home in many more collections, this and every year.

12:01, time to wake up! Aris 1201 is back on CAF? with a new record. Deeply rooted in the city center of Geneva, this eight tracker is as smokey as its rush hour traffic jams. Bringing together old tracks with new material, this album spans from 4/4 club-ready highways to hip-hop inspired groovy beats. Using a minimum amount of ingredients (raw samples, percussive rhythmics, grainy textures), Aris 1201 delivers a result full of layers and complexity. So only one thing to do: hop in front of the Blunt Mobile and have a nice ride.

Chris Hontos und Aaron Anderson sind sowohl als Nuke Watch als auch als ihre auf Samples basierenden Cousins Beat Detectives tätig. Man ist versucht, Grave New World als Fusion zu bezeichnen, aber das trifft es nicht ganz. Otto Willbergs Bassspiel ist so versiert, dass es Giganten wie Percy Jones und Jaco heraufbeschwört, und Leonard King nähert sich dem Bass ein wenig wie jemand aus Felas Africa 70. Die drei verarbeiteten Blasinstrumente - Zack Stafford an der verarbeiteten Flöte, Christopher Farstad am MIDI-Blasinstrument und Cole Pulice am verarbeiteten Saxophon - bringen die Musik in die Nähe des Jazz, obwohl keine der Kompositionen der Band wirklich nach Jazz klingt. Outtakes aus der Star Wars Foley-Datenbank? Eine berührungsempfindliche Multimedia-Gewächshausausstellung, die von einer Kindergartengruppe übernommen wurde? Ramsay Midwoods Debütalbum "Shoot Out At The OK Chinese Restaurant" erscheint erstmals auf Vinyl - über 25 Jahre nach der ursprünglichen CD-Veröffentlichung bei Glitterhouse Records im Jahr 1999. Labelchef Reinhard Holstein beschreibt das Werk als seinen persönlichen Favoriten unter rund 800 Veröffentlichungen. Midwoods Musik verbindet traditionelle amerikanische Klänge mit einer eigenwilligen, lakonischen Erzählweise. Sein Gesang erinnert an Woody Guthrie und Levon Helm, seine Texte an die poetische Schrulligkeit eines Leon Redbone. Naya Beat Records reveals Volume 2 of its critically acclaimed series dedicated to South Asian dance and electronic music. Label founders Turbotito and Ragz have curated an exceptional 13-track compilation with a focus on an overlooked era of house and electronic music released between '88 and '94.
While Volume 1 explored early 80s Balearic, synth pop, and disco, Volume 2 uncovers lost or forgotten future classics from later in the decade. The release spotlights a unique era in the late 80s and early 90s when fertile cross-cultural collaboration abounded in diasporic communities in cities like London and New York and when South Asian music was infused with acid house, New Beat, and dub.

Didjits verbanden ihre Liebe zu Hard Rock (AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick), Punk (Sex Pistols und vor allem die metallische Kunstshow von The Plasmatics) und Rock'n`Roll der 50er Jahre (insbesondere Jerry Lee Lewis und Little Richard) zu einer Marke, die, wie Dexter Holland von The Offspring treffend beschreibt, ,ein wackeliger Zug war, der kurz vor der Entgleisung stand". Bei chaotischen Live-Shows brachte Gitarrist und Sänger Rick Sims das Publikum gekonnt gegen sich auf und trug so zur Raserei des rasanten Rocks bei, den sie langsam perfektionierten. Jello Biafra, ein früher Unterstützer der Didjits, bewunderte ihre Fähigkeit, das Punk-Publikum zu vergraulen und es dennoch mit offenem Mund und Hörverlust zurückzulassen. Ab 1988 veröffentlichten die Didjits fünf Alben in voller Länge bei Touch and Go Records (darunter eine Neuauflage ihres 1986 selbst veröffentlichten Debütalbums Fizzjob) sowie zwei Singles und eine EP. Es folgten MTV-Videos, ausverkaufte Clubs, Tourneen durch Europa und Nordamerika - bis 1994 (ironischerweise das selbe Jahr, in dem The Offspring ihr Platin-Album "Smash" veröffentlichten, das ein Cover von ,Killboy Powerhead" aus Didjits 1990er Veröffentlichung "Hornet Pinata" enthielt). Diese LP, gepresst auf 180 Gramm schwerem, opakem lila Vinyl, ist ein Archivdokument der Band von ihren Anfängen im ländlichen Illinois bis zu ihrer Auflösung über ein Jahrzehnt später. To create the score for Jurassic World Rebirth, director Gareth Edwards turned to a distinguished friend, two-time Oscar® winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water), who worked with Edwards on Godzilla. “I feel very fortunate to be doing the music for a movie franchise like this, which entertained me so greatly, as a filmgoer, for decades,” Desplat says. “I dreamed of writing music for movies like this since I was a teenager, and now, here I am,” he adds with a laugh, “part of Jurassic World, almost a teenager.”



Rebirth represents the second time that Desplat has stepped into a franchise and inherited and adapted iconic musical motifs written by an artist he considers his “forever idol,” the legendary John Williams: Desplat previously took on that challenge with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. “John Williams wrote a fantastic melody for Jurassic Park that I now get to reinvent, rejigger and resculpt in ways benefit our movie,” Desplat says. “My desire was not to quote John’s score bluntly but subtly echo it or make use of it in the original score I have written for the film in playful and meaningful ways.”

Limited edition on clear vinyl. Wie in het voorjaar van 2025 het voorrecht had om de theatertour van Het Zesde Metaal bij te wonen, kon daar op de koop toe genieten van een handvol gloednieuwe songs. En daarna vaststellen dat die helaas nergens te (her)beluisteren waren. Tot nu, want de goesting om de songs vast te leggen voor de eeuwigheid werd op den duur wel heel groot. En dus kampeerden Wannes Cappelle en co afgelopen zomer enkele dagen in Waimes (DAFT Music Studios), voor het eerst in de nieuwe bezetting met Kasper Cornelus op gitaar/toetsen en Sander Verstraete op bas.



Het resultaat is de EP Randgevallen: vijf songs, vijf vertellingen uit het persoonlijke en wereldse leven die andermaal bewijzen dat Het Zesde Metaal als geen ander kan beschrijven, beklijven en betoveren. Een staalkaart bovendien van de muzikale en tekstuele veelzijdigheid die de band al jaren kenmerkt. Opener Service is een opgewekte popsong waarin Cappelle sappig de drang naar reviews en hartjes in het dagelijkse en economische leven fileert: 'wa' vind je van onze service? / zou j'ons geen tiene willen geven? / asteblieft, want anders is den directeur vies.' In Traagskes Groeien verstilt het tempo en keert de blik naar binnen, het persoonlijke leven in, mijmerend over kinderen die stilaan het nest ontgroeien. 'ge moet u zo nie' spoeien / ge moet traagskes groeien / ge moe' laagske per laagske groeien', probeert Cappelle het loslaten nog even uit te stellen.



Wie dacht dat Oud En Nieuw daarna gaat over feestvieren in de donkerste dagen van december, is op het verkeerde feestje beland. Wiegend op hypnotiserende bas, drum en pedal steel passeert opnieuw de vergankelijkheid van het leven, dit keer met een bredere maatschappelijke blik. 'alles da' oud is, was ooit nieuw / en groot is ooit kleine begonnen / veel komt van weinig / glad was eerst ruw / zelfs de waarheid wierd ooit verzonnen'. Wanneer naar het einde toe pulserende synths het tempo opheffen en de song licht euforisch uitwaaiert in een instrumentale coda, kun je alleen maar de ogen sluiten en stilstaan bij wat was en nog komen zal.

Label is het enige nummer dat speciaal voor de EP werd geschreven en baadt net als Service in meer dartele klanken, terwijl Cappelle met trefzekere oneliners een beeld van zichzelf schetst. 'de meeste middens mijd ik, ik hore bie de randgevallen thuis / misschien verdiene 'kik ook een label'. Moeten we altijd proberen de ander in een vakje te duwen? Kan iedereen niet 'gewoon' anders zijn? En ironisch draait Cappelle de rollen om: 'atypisch is de norm / ge moogt buiten de lijntjes kleuren / gewoon is niet verboden / normaal zijn doet geen zeer / as ze mor hunder plekke kennen / de rare zijn met meer.'



Het slotakkoord is voor het beklijvende Duizend Soldaten van Willem Vermandere, dat Cappelle en Filip Wauters begin dit jaar brachten voor het tv-programma Ik Vraag Het Aan. Nu zet het een pakkend punt achter een EP die nogmaals de tijdloze klasse van de band onderstreept. Meeslepend, verhalend, herkenbaar, grappig, ontroerend, scherp. Het Zesde Metaal is het allemaal en heeft daar slechts vijf songs voor nodig.



Randgevallen werd opgenomen met Frederik Segers (productie) en Jasper Maekelberg (mix) aan de knoppen, en komt uit op 4 oktober. Met de plaat onder de arm én aan de merchandisetafel herneemt de band zijn theatertour, maar dan in het groot, langs fantastische zalen in onder meer Brugge (Concertgebouw), Gent (Capitole) en Nederland.

Hrishikesh Hirway's (creator of the award-winning podcast Song Exploder) score begins by earnestly paying tribute to the plucky romance at the center. It invites you, lovingly into its rose-colored world just long enough to lower your guard before deftly switching gears into the twisted genre score buried underneath. Chaotic as that may sound, the score is continually grounded with an incredible melodic hook incorporating lead actor Sophie Thatcher's voice ("Iris' Theme"), that pays homage to another fractured fairy tale, Rosemary's Baby. But don't read too much into that comparison. The twists and turns of COMPANION are uniquely their own, and best avoided for the optimal experience. Ein Song von Wednesday ist wie ein Quilt. Eine Kurzgeschichtensammlung, eine verschwommene Erinnerung, ein Flickenteppich aus Porträts des amerikanischen Südens, der disparate Momente einfängt und als Ganzes doch irgendwie einen Sinn ergibt. Karly Hartzman, die Songschreiberin, Sängerin, Gitarristin und Leiterin der Band, ist eine Geschichtensammlerin als auch eine Geschichtenerzählerin: Eine aufmerksame Beobachterin von Menschen und witzigen Bemerkungen. Half-funny, half-tragic dispatches from North Carolina unfurling somewhere between the wailing skuzz of Nineties shoegaze and classic country twang, that distorted lap steel and Hartzman's voice slicing through the din. Rat Saw God is an album about riding a bike down a suburban stretch in Greensboro while listening to My Bloody Valentine for the first time on an iPod Nano, past a creek that runs through the neighborhood riddled with broken glass bottles and condoms, a front yard filled with broken and rusted car parts, a lonely and dilapidated house reclaimed by kudzu. Four Lokos and rodeo clowns and a kid who burns down a corn field. Roadside monuments, church marquees, poppers and vodka in a plastic water bottle, the shit you get away with at Jewish summer camp, strange sentimental family heirlooms at the thrift stores. The way the South hums alive all night in the summers and into fall, the sound of high school football games, the halo effect from the lights polluting the darkness. It's not really bright enough to see in front of you, but in that stretch of inky void - somehow - you see everything. The songs on Rat Saw God don't recount epics, just the everyday. They're true, they're real life, blurry and chaotic and strange - which is in-line with Hartzman's own ethos: "Everyone's story is worthy," she says, plainly. "Literally every life story is worth writing down, because people are so fascinating." But the thing about Rat Saw God - and about any Wednesday song, really - is you don't necessarily even need all the references to get it, the weirdly specific elation of a song that really hits. Yeah, it's all in the details - how fucked up you got or get, how you break a heart, how you fall in love, how you make yourself and others feel seen - but it's mostly the way those tiny moments add up into a song or album or a person.

There’s unlimited freedom,and while that can be liberating, it also comes with addedresponsibility. Beyond the recording, the music takes on anew life. The piano, the room, the acoustic, the mood ofthe audience, even how much sleep I’ve had - all of itinforms how the music evolves. So, each performance iscompletely unique and unrepeatable.
