Die nächste Veröffentlichung in der Reihe der Steve Hackett-Vinyl-Editionen ist sein 18. Studioalbum "Wild Orchids", das zum ersten Mal überhaupt auf Vinyl erhältlich ist. Ursprünglich im Jahr 2006 veröffentlicht, wurde Steve auf diesem Album von bekannten Persönlichkeiten wie Roger King, John Hackett, Rob Townsend, Gary O'Toole sowie dem Underworld Orchestra begleitet, das den Sound mit herrlichen Streicher- und Bläsersätzen bereicherte. Das Album enthält Steves Cover von Bob Dylans "Man In The Long Black Coat" sowie "Reconditioned Nightmare", eine Neuaufnahme des Titels "Air Conditioned Nightmare" von seinem 1981er Album "Cured". Erhältlich als Gatefold 180g 2LP.

New Robohands LP 'Palms' is the fifth album from the London based instrumentalist and producer Andy Baxter. Moving towards different genres and arrangements from his previous albums, 'Palms' features duelling harp parts, tape echo, double bass and draws inspiration from artists such as Dorothy Ashby, Azimuth, Alice Coltrane and Toquinho.

In parts tropical and synth drenched, and in others stripped back and acoustic, 'Palms' is a journey back to saturated analog recordings of the late 60s and 70s, with a subtle modern layer of glitch FX and pitch control experimentation in places. The album makes also reference to classic releases from jazz fusion that feature the legendary Arp Odyssey synthesiser, used by artists such as Herbie Hancock and George Duke.

The seventeen track album features performances from multiple session musicians including Jim Piela on saxophone and Marco Cremaschini on Rhodes, with Baxter taking on drums, guitar, bass, keys and also mixing duties. 'Palms' is a new direction for his project and a record that thematically journeys into modern reinterpretations of jazz, downtempo, acoustic and ambient music.

Since his first Submorphics release on The North Quarter, the Detroit native has tenaciously developed his unique brand of lo-fi, deep drum & bass. With his new six-track EP ‘Verona Highway’, the Den Haag-based producer has created what he calls “a late night Detroit to Chicago road trip aesthetic”. Rooted in the underground, this project is an assemblage of techno, footwork and soulful house influences fused with his own signature earworm melodies, deep minor chords and the modern North Quarter drum & bass sound. The result is an EP that feels emotive and nostalgic while maintaining a modern atmosphere.

'Verona Highway’ marks the return of Submorphics to The North Quarter, just over a year after his critically acclaimed Newport Magnetic EP. Elizabeth Bernholz (geb. Walling), geboren 1981 in Canterbury, England, besser bekannt unter ihrem Künstlernamen Gazelle Twin, ist eine Electronic Music Komponistin, Produzentin und Musikerin, die derzeit in Leicestershire, England, lebt.

Auf ihren bisherigen drei Studioalben hat Gazelle Twin nach außen geblickt: auf Städte, auf einen gequälten Körper, auf die sich windenden Eingeweide des ländlichen Großbritanniens. Auf ihrem ersten Album für das neue Label Invada Records wendet sie ihren Blick jedoch nach innen. Black Dog ist ein Album über die Konfrontation mit der Angst und die Erwartung, dass die Dinge, die in der Dunkelheit lauerten, als man ein Kind war, verschwinden werden, wenn man erwachsen wird.

Black Dog erzählt eine Geschichte, die sich wie ein Film entrollt. Es geht darum, wie unsere Kindheit unser Erwachsensein geprägt hat: wie sich jedes Gefühl von Trauma und Trauer für immer in die Erinnerung eines Menschen einbrennt, egal wie sehr wir versuchen, ihm zu entkommen. Black Dog deutet an, wie diese Gefühle in besonderer Intensität zurückkehren, wenn man Eltern wird, wenn man sich selbst dabei beobachtet, wie man Dinge weitergibt, von denen man sich wünscht, sie nicht gehabt zu haben, nicht zu wollen.

In gewisser Weise läutert sich Bernholz auf diesem Album selbst. Im Gegensatz zu ihren maskierten Charakteren bei früheren Veröffentlichungen ist ihr Gesicht erkennbar, und sie erklärt, dass sie sich „dieses Mal nicht so weit entfernt hat" von ihrer Persona. Sie stellt sich als Medium für die Stimmen in ihrem Inneren vor, anstatt sie mit anderen Ideen zu verdrängen. Dabei wirkt sie groß und innig, ihre Stimme wechselt von feinfühliger Zärtlichkeit zu doomiger Kraft.

Dies ist ein Album, bei dem alte Geschichten geplündert, verdaut und wieder hochgewürgt werden müssen, um neue zu schreiben, bei dem wir uns selbst völlig in Frage stellen müssen. Black Dog blickt zurück und blickt hinein. Wir verschaffen uns Zugang, während wir zuhören. Unser Innerstes nach außen gekehrt.

The Complete Full House Recordings wurde anlässlich des hundertjährigen Jubiläums des einflussreichen Jazzgitarristen Wes Montgomery veröffentlicht und vereint alle Aufnahmen der Full House Sessions mit zwei bisher unveröffentlichten Auftritten. Mit Johnny Griffn, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers und Jimmy Cobb enthält diese Sammlung neue Linernotes des Journalisten Bill Milkowski und ist auf 180-GrammVinyl gepresst, das von Joe Tarantino von den analogen Originalbändern gemastert und von Kevin Gray bei Cohearent Audio lackiert wurde.

Auf welchem Album ist das Lied? Eine Frage, die der renommierten anglo-amerikanischen Jazz-Sängerin immer wieder gestellt wird. Da ihre Setlists ausnahmslos eine Mischung aus altem und neuem Repertoire enthalten, lautet die Antwort auch oft, dass der angefragte Song auf keinem Album bislang ist.
Dieses Album ist daher eine Sammlung dieser Lieder. Es ist eine Antwort an all die Leute, die im Laufe der Jahre etwas enttäuscht gesagt haben: "Sie haben 'If You Go Away' nicht aufgenommen?" und so weiter. Dies ist auch das erste Mal, dass Stacey Kent einen Song zweimal für ein Album aufgenommen hat. 'If You Go Away' kam 2018 in das Live-Repertoire, als ihr Mann Jim Tomlinson ein Orchester-Arrangement für ein Konzert in Paris schrieb. Von Zeit zu Zeit sang sie auch Jacques Brels Original 'Ne Me Quitte Pas'. Aber egal in welcher Sprache auch immer, jemand würde fragen, warum sie es nicht in genau der anderen gesungen hat. Einige Sänger haben darauf reagiert, indem sie beide Sprachen in dieselbe Version interpoliert haben. Da beide Liedtexte für sich genommen wunderschön sind und es gleichermaßen verdienen, aufgenommen zu werden, wurde der Song dann halt in zwei Versionen ins Tracklisting aufgenommen. Somit ist 'Summer Me, Winter Me' auch eine repräsentative Auswahl der Songs, die einige dieser Fan-Wünsche erfüllen soll.

and Sebastian Kokus and the prolific Ulf Schütte, the Hamburg-based trio has tirelessly expanded upon its sound and extended its musical style. After 2022’s »S/T« documented the results of their first jam sessions as a newly-founded group, »V.A.« started even more modestly and became an even bigger undertaking. Originally conceived as a small one-off release, it grew into a full record which sees the group embracing dub music, collaborating with Peaking Lights’ Aaron Coyes and inviting other artists—No UFO’s, Seekers International, Coco Em—who reworked select tracks in true dub style. »V.A.« is marked by inconsistency, openness, and heterogeneity in the best sense of those words: ever-changing, constantly surprising and consistently in motion.

The starting point for »V.A.« was a Hamburg concert in December 2022 together with Coyes, who played a solo set as Peaking Lights. On the request of the event organiser, Cloud Management teamed up with him for a jam session after the gig, laying the foundation for a track that the group took to the studio before sending it to Coyes to record vocals for it. Another song quickly followed and even though the band initially intended to release »PST« and »0rten Pitch« as standalone 7” single, they soon decided to have others create versions of the two tunes to round them off in the form of a 12” EP. Once more though, one thing led to another and now »V.A.« collects five original pieces by Cloud Management as well as three—four on the digital version—remixes by other artists.

Collaborating with Leipzig-based Canadian producer No UFO’s, the Canadian Seekers International collective, and Kenyan multi-disciplinary artist Coco Em came about organically. As fans of their friend Konrad Jandavs’ work for labels such as Spectrum Spools, Root Strata and his own Nice Up International, Korf, Kokus and Schütte asked him for a remix and granted him full creative freedom for his take on »PST«. Jandavs also connected them with the prolific Richmond-based soundsystem worshippers, who present their take on the same track on this record as well as a version of »Electric CD.« Also this track appears three times on the record, having been re-rubbed by Emma Mbeki Nzioka, who was introduced to the the trio by its label Altin Village & Mine.

There isn’t really a common thread running through the rough digi-dub of No UFO’s take on »PST«, Seekers International’s traditionally-minded yet infinitely playful dub-psychedelia and Coco Em’s bass-heavy, percussive, pulsating take on »Electric CD.« However, as a group dedicated to staying in flux at all times, Cloud Management ended up embracing the creative differences between their own work and those of their respective collaborators. In calling it »V.A.,« they paid tribute to their somewhat loose, but conceptually consistent concept of giving various artists full creative licence over their own work. Neither a true album in the strict sense of the world nor just a compilation, »V.A.« is actually the essential Cloud Management record: ever-changing, constantly surprising, consistently in motion.

Im Jahr 2022 veröffentlichten Bear's Den ihr hochgelobtes viertes Studioalbum "Blue Hours", das in den UK Album Charts auf Platz 6 landete, sowie den Original-Soundtrack für die Apple TV+ Serie Trying, bei dem sie mit Stars wie Maisie Peters und Jade Bird zusammenarbeiteten. 2023 kehrt das Folk-Pop-Duo Bear's Den zurück, um zwei neue EPs zu veröffentlichen: First Loves und White Magnolias.
Bear's Den wurden 2012 in London gegründet und haben sich mit ihren hymnischen Songs eine treue und internationale Fangemeinde erspielt. Mit vier Studioalben sowie einem gemeinsamen Projekt mit dem Komponisten Paul Frith sind sie seit ihrer Gründung regelmäßig in den Charts in Großbritannien und Europa vertreten. Ihr Debütalbum Islands" wurde für den Ivor Novello Award für den besten musikalischen und lyrischen Song nominiert.
Nach Tourneen durch die ganze Welt, bei denen sie in Theatern, Arenen und auf Festivals spielten, kehrten sie 2019 nach der Veröffentlichung ihres dritten Albums "So That You Might Hear Me" zu ihren Ursprüngen zurück, um eine Tournee durch winzige "Highlands and Islands"-Locations in ganz Schottland zu machen und eine begleitende Dokumentation zu drehen. Die Band ist keine Unbekannte im Bereich der Musikdokumentation und spielte neben Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff und The Staves eine wichtige Rolle in dem preisgekrönten Dokumentarfilm Austin To Boston.

Blackfoxy is a jazz-funk group originating from Villeneuve La Garenne in the Parisian region. The group was formed in 2011 at the initiative of Kalid Bazi and Klaus Blasquiz (the singer of the legendary group Magma with Christian Vander, Jannick Top, etc.). They are notably known for the hits "Talk About Peace" (featuring Nina Attal, MB14, and Princess Erika), dedicated to the victims of the Bataclan attacks in 2015, as well as their performance on France 4 with 50 drummers on the Michael Jackson song "Don"t Stop" & "Til You Get Enough" One of their most notable features is their ability to innovate by skillfully and uniquely incorporating elements from "Blaxploitation" film music and African, Cuban, and Caribbean musical traditions into their funk, characterized by a high-quality brass section and arrangements borrowed from both 70s and 80s Funk. Blackfoxy"s music also stands out due to the complementarity of its two singers, Klaus Blasquiz (baritone and tenor, he sings over 5 octaves!) and Sista Wyndyz. Lastly, since the attacks of 2015, Blackfoxy has been involved in the movement (sponsored, among others, by Manu Katché) to promote the values of peace through music in popular neighborhoods and rural areas in France and elsewhere.

Euroteuro, die Dritte! November 2023, Die Wiener Pop Gruppe EUROTEURO um Mastermind Peter T. präsentieren ihr neues drittes Album "VOLUME III". Mit ihrem Sommerhit "AUTOGRILL" hat das Wiener Kollektiv EUROTEURO einen ewigen Ohrwurm für alle italophilen Espresso-Freunde geschaffen. Mit im Gepäck ihre neue Vinylscheibe inkl. der Single "Teuer", wo sie das mittlerweile vom Gespenst zum realen Türsteher mutierte Phänomen der Teuerung besingen. "900 Euro warm. Viel zu teuer! Regelbruch - Strafe zahlen. Viel zu teuer!" Ein atemloses Stück Musik, das den Wahnsinn der uns umgibt ein Stück weit zu kanalisieren versucht. Die aktuelle Single "Zeit" kann als Ode an die Entschleunigung gesehen werden. Nicht alles muss immer sofort sein, manchmal muss man einfach nur um "ein bischen mehr Zeit" bitten. "Sie singen für dein Recht auf Eskapismus, selbst wenn du dir nichts mehr leisten kannst. Euroteuro zelebrieren einen Prekariat und Proletariat vereinenden Scheißdrauf-Hedonismus ("Insel" bzw. das unverwüstliche Debüt "Autogrill") und nehmen dabei auch vor die Song-gewordene Anwendung von Bertrand Russells Lob des Müßiggangs ("Kündigung", "Sag Alles Ab") nicht Halt. In diesem Sinn kann man Zeilen wie "Lassen sie einfach das Studium sein" aus "Wenn das alle täten" ebenso als ironisch wie ernsthaft subversiv interpretieren. Die Verweigerung der vom Neoliberalismus verlangten ständigen Selbstoptimierung trifft dabei auf den gelebten Widerspruch der beiden emblematischen europäischen Fetische von Bewegungsfreiheit und Wachstum." Aufgenommen auf der norwegischen Insel Hadsel, kurz nachdem ein körperlicher und mentaler Zusammenbruch Condon dazu zwang, seine Tournee für 2019 abzusagen, suchte er nach einem Ort, an dem er sich erholen konnte, nachdem er sich in einem Zustand des Schocks und der Selbstzweifel befand. In der Isolation arbeitend, erklärt Condon: "Ich war in einer Trance verloren. Ich stolperte blindlings durch meinen eigenen mentalen Zusammenbruch, den ich seit meiner Teenagerzeit verdrängt hatte. Er kam und läutete mich wie eine Glocke. Ich quälte mich mit vielen Dingen der Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart, während die Schönheit der Natur, die Nordlichter und die furchterregenden Stürme um mich herum ein beeindruckendes Schauspiel boten. Der neue Thrash-Metal-Geheimtipp veröffentlicht sein Debütalbum auf Indie Recordings (Kvelertak). Eradikated ist eine junge, raue und toxische Thrash-Metal-Horde, die sich als Schwedens heißester und vielversprechendster neue Acts erwiesen hat, und seine Einflüsse aus Slayer, Exodus, 80er Matallica & Co. bezieht. Die Band wurde 2021 als Support für The Haunted ausgewählt. Später supportete man Anvil. Kamran Haq (Live Nation UK/Download Festival): "Eine der besten Thrash-Bands, die ich seit Jahren gesehen habe." 2023 wurden Eradikated wurden für die beiden größten Rock-/Metal-Festivals Schwedens gebucht. Das Album wird von der Band selbst produziert und aufgenommen und vom renommierten Gustav Brunn (Bomber, Obstruktion und Viagra Boys) gemischt und gemastert. CD und klassisch, schwarzes Vinyl!

Cat Power veröffentlicht am 10. November ein Live-Album Cat Power Sings Bob Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert via Domino.

Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert" wurde am 5. November 2022 in der berühmten Londoner Royal Albert Hall aufgenommen und zeigt Chan Marshall wie sie Song für Song eines der legendärsten und transformativsten Live-Sets aller Zeiten nachspielt. Im Mai 1966 fand das Konzert in der Manchester Free Trade Hall statt, das aufgrund eines falsch beschrifteten Bootlegs lange Zeit als "Royal Albert Hall Concert" bekannt war. Bei dem Originalauftritt wechselte Bob Dylan in der Mitte des Konzerts von der akustischen auf die elektrische Gitarre, was den Zorn der Folk-Puristen auf sich zog und den Verlauf des Rock 'n' Roll für immer veränderte. Fans of contemporaries Weyes Blood (of which DDD multi-instrumentalist Walt McClements is now a full-time member) and Angel Olsen (in whose live and studio band Invie is now a staple) will find much to love in these songs, as well as the b-side, Invie’s solo piece, “For Now” which, not unlike Invie’s 2017 solo release under the moniker IN / VIA, makes use of seamlessly interwoven piano and swelling, liquid synthesizer.

In 2013, when Dark Dark Dark released the What I Needed EP, anyone might have guessed it was a bridge between the previous year’s lauded LP Who Needs Who and the next big venture. The band had closed out 2012 as part of Australia's touring Harvest Festival, during which they stepped up to fill an unexpectedly vacant slot much later in the day, enchanting thousands of unsuspecting festival goers. Alas, after that, the band went silent.

The release of these new songs is certainly delightful and perhaps startling, as is the promise of more solo work from singer Nona Marie Invie. On the gorgeous and stately “Didn’t I Try,” Invie’s voice is elegant as ever, couched in the familiar sounds of Marshall LaCount’s distorted banjo and Mark Trecka’s rolling drums. The loping and haunted “Something Was There” follows –– a staple of Dark Dark Dark’s live sets in the last year of their touring.

Considering this band's history, their distinctive and dramatic sense of identity, this music is really and truly for fans of Dark Dark Dark.

Grundsätzlich melancholisch und episch, unterlegt von maschinenhaftem Stakkato-Drumming, düster, kalt und wütend. Für die 6 schleppend-schleifenden Songs muss man sich Zeit nehmen, das ausgezeichnete Songwriting entfaltet sich Schicht für Schicht zu einem Albtraum-Szenario, das stetig zu lauern scheint, angriffslustig geduckt und im Schatten. Der Kontrast zwischen sanft-melodischen E-Bow Leads und Klargesang bzw. auch Sprechgesang auf der einen Seite zu präzise drückendem Riffing, Sprachsamples und viehischem Gegrowle auf der anderen Seite verstärkt nur noch das Unwohlsein beim Hören. Insgesamt merkt man den Songs deutlich an, wieviel Mühe darin steckt, es gibt sehr viele Details zu entdecken und zu den Texten, also der Story bin ich noch gar nicht vorgedrungen: Inhaltlich orientiert sich die Platte am Romanzyklus "His Dark Materials" von Philip Pullman, was den Eindruck eines Soundtracks durch den Einsatz von Sprechtexten bzw -samples (teils englisch, teils deutsch) noch verstärkt.

New Zealand indie trifecta Mermaidens, are set to make a resounding splash in the music scene yet again with the announcement of their fourth self-titled album and release of the project's first single ‘I like to be alone’. The trio, comprising of Gussie Larkin (guitar/vocals), Lily West (bass/vocals), and Abe Hollingsworth (drums), has been on an impressive journey of musical excellence, boasting three critically acclaimed albums, international tours, and a slew of accolades to their name. With a sound that is both bold and adventurous, Mermaidens' music is a testament to their unwavering creativity and relentless work ethic. A hidden gem of Uruguayan music, Los Terapeutas's second album, released in 1990, is an original take on candombe and its hypnotic groove, blending pop songcraft with expansive soundscapes, never losing their rhythmic pulse. Los Terapeutas is a band of songs, where new wave, candombe beat, funk and rock were mixed in a unique way, with a strange frontman who had traces of Eduardo Mateo, Damo Suzuki, Frank Zappa and David Byrne. "Candombe del no sé quien soy" is related to what the group did live at that time: looking for a state of hypnotic hanging with their songs. The playing of the candombe drums was obviously an inspiration to look for that trance state, as was the music of Mateo and that of Opa, but influences can also be traced from the rhythmic experiments of German band Can of the 70s. The album was released in the late 1990s, a complicated time for Uruguayan music. The album was released on vinyl, a format that was losing weight compared to the CD. They would not release an album together again until 1997. In the 2000s, Los Terapeutas slowly expanded their audience, while also leaning towards a more electric sound. The new generation of Uruguayan musicians recognized the pioneering work of the band and Alberto Wolf was seen as a kind of godfather by several of the rock groups that were beginning to become massive.

This theme, explored at length in the previous installment of this series, is a fertile one that just keeps on giving, and give it certainly does on the tracks we have dug up for your perusal, enlightenment, edification and enjoyment on Yacht Soul 2.
For those just joining us, the concept here concerns R&B and soul artists mining the songbooks of their white contemporaries for cover versions that serve the dual purposes of potentially garnering some crossover radio airplay as well as introducing great songs to segments of the listening public who might otherwise miss them. Some of these versions might have come about because they were personal favorites of the artist in question, others might have been strongly suggested by their labels or by the publishing company, but all of them provide an entirely new perspective on what were already fantastic songs to begin with.
So there you have it--a further dig into this nebulous concept that reveals more unexpected connections and crossed paths. Understanding the hows and whys of the way these particular covers and collaborations came to be is as fascinating as just enjoying the music itself, and there really is a lot of great music to dig into this time around! Her artist (and real middle) name comes from her Russian-Jewish great-grandmother, a person whose presence she has always felt although their paths never crossed in real life. Beckerman grew up in a musical family; her father is a music professor, her mother studied opera and her own songs often feel spiritual, less so by any religious connotation and more as a hymn-like, archival record of Beckerman's own past, present and future. Her first release on Winspear, Long is the Tunnel, contemplates how the people you meet impact the pathway you travel. Through songs like the poignant "Somewhere in the Middle," the lilting "Challenger Deep" and the surreal "Big Bird," the EP paints a distinctive collage between traditional songwriting and modern turns of phrase that remain spellbound in the unadulterated luster of self discovery. The seven songs read as both patchwork memories/diary entries and elegies to those in her life. Co-produced by Ruben Radlauer and Hayden Ticehurst of Model/Actriz and Artur Szerejko, the final versions of these initial demos also saw contributions from Lewis Evans of Black Country, New Road (saxophone), Maddy Leshner (keys) and Finnegan Shanahan (violin), adding to the gleaming instrumentation that makes each song sound like a world within itself. Long is the Tunnel is filled with hyperreal imagery that denotes a form of escapism: two of the songs reference birds, which Beckerman describes as about being transfixed by something you can't take your eyes o‑ while also being able to leave at will. Daneshevskaya (Dawn-eh-shev-sky-uh), the project of New York's Anna Beckerman, writes songs steeped in the folklore of her own personal history. Her artist (and real middle) name comes from her Russian-Jewish great-grandmother, a person whose presence she has always felt although their paths never crossed in real life. Beckerman grew up in a musical family; her father is a music professor, her mother studied opera and her own songs often feel spiritual, less so by any religious connotation and more as a hymn-like, archival record of Beckerman's own past, present and future. Her first release on Winspear, Long is the Tunnel, contemplates how the people you meet impact the pathway you travel. Through songs like the poignant "Somewhere in the Middle," the lilting "Challenger Deep" and the surreal "Big Bird," the EP paints a distinctive collage between traditional songwriting and modern turns of phrase that remain spellbound in the unadulterated luster of self discovery. The seven songs read as both patchwork memories/diary entries and elegies to those in her life. Co-produced by Ruben Radlauer and Hayden Ticehurst of Model/Actriz and Artur Szerejko, the final versions of these initial demos also saw contributions from Lewis Evans of Black Country, New Road (saxophone), Maddy Leshner (keys) and Finnegan Shanahan (violin), adding to the gleaming instrumentation that makes each song sound like a world within itself. This re-issue faithfully replicates the original 1995 Polydor Records UK 2LP release with gatefold sleeve and 12 page booklet and is pressed onto high quality 180g vinyl.

Originally released on Polydor Records in October 1995, All Change reached No 7 in the UK charts, and spawned four Top 20 singles. Cast were formed in 1992 and were something of a scouse supergroup, with leader, guitarist John Power previously bassist in The La's and bassist Peter Wilkinson coming from Shack. Originally a loose conglomerate with various members, Power added guitarist Liam 'Skin' Tyson and drummer Keith O' Neill, and by 1994 Cast were signed to Polydor.

Led by singles Finetime and Alright, Cast's blend of ultra- melodic Merseybeat Britpop proved that they were the right band at the right time. All Change became a runaway success, selling over a million and becoming the fastest-selling debut album in Polydor's history, bolstered by further singles Sandstorm and Walkaway. The catchy, upbeat album closed with the eight- minute epic Two Of A Kind, showing that the band had sufficient skills to take on any Britpop heavyweight.

TVAM announces ‘Costasol’, his new EP for Invada Records. The 10” EP is pressed on translucent blue vinyl, and housed in a reverse board, spined sleeve.  TVAM returns to the sun lounger to deliver a horizontal view from the pool of self-reflection. Joe Oxley, aka TVAM, offers, “‘Costasol’ began life as two atmospheric interludes that I wrote for my last album, ‘High Art Lite’. Over time these ideas took on a life of their own and demanded that I take another look at them. I slowly began putting the pieces together and ended up with a track which became much more than the sum of its parts.” The resultant ‘Costasol’ is a song about longing, loss and regret wrapped-up in heatwave bass and shimmering guitars, all perfectly enhanced by Mona’s dreamlike vocal.  TVAM self-released his much-acclaimed debut, ‘Psychic Data’, in the Autumn of 2018. Something of a cult-classic, the album joined the dots between Suicide’s deconstructed rock ’n’ roll, Boards of Canada’s irresistible nostalgia and My Bloody Valentine’s infinite noise. ‘High Art Lite’, released in October 2022, took a different tilt to its predecessor by emphasising the immediate and the personal. The colours were blown-out and the brightness was cranked up.  It’s in this world where TVAM’s new ‘Costasol’ EP exists. Full of colour and noise, with a vibrant, distorted palette.
