London based flypaper, the project of singer-songwriter Rory Sear, is back with his first ever vinyl release. The big nada / another orbit 12" collects flypaper's first two EP:s as well as new single"coming back again" on 12" black vinyl limited to 500 copies via PNKSLM Recordings (7ebra, ShitKid,Chemtrails etc.) As flypaper, Sears retain the melodic sensibilities shown in his work as frontman and chief songwriter of Brighton indie combo Beachtape, coupling them with a gentler soundscape which showcases his rising stock as a songwriter while firmly establishing flypaper as one to watch with a debut album due out in 2025. Britny Fox is the eponymous debut album by American glam metal band Britny Fox, originally released in 1988. It was met with critical acclaim and near Platinum sales. Their lead single "Long Way To Love" made heavy rotation on MTV and the band won Metal Edge magazine's Best New Band award in 1988. Britny Fox was formed in 1985 in Philadelphia, fronted by lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist "Dizzy" Dean Davidson. Other band members included Billy Childs on bass, and two former members of the band Cinderella; Michael Kelly Smith on lead guitar and Tony Destra on drums. Their debut album remains their most popular work to date. Britny Fox is available as a limited edition of 750 copies on white coloured vinyl and includes an insert.

Tuning the Wind was created in 2022 as an installation piece. Since then, it has been adapted into multichannel, 4DSOUND, and stereo installations, as well as performed live on numerous occasions around the world. The piece has a duration of 36 minutes and 15 seconds. For the vinyl pressing, it has been divided into two parts.

Composer Aimée Portioli, known professionally as Grand River, recorded various types of wind and then reworked them through layering and pitch adjustment to create a musical piece where the wind itself becomes a prepared instrument. At times, the sound of the wind is tuned to the 440 Hz reference, while at other times, the instruments are tuned to the sound of the wind. In Tuning the Wind, nature and music merge seamlessly. Synthesizers and wind recordings become indistinguishable, blending natural sounds with human-made instruments. The boundary between a gust of wind and an instrument-generated sound fades away. Human artistry and nature’s symphony merge to become one.

Wind is air in motion. It makes no sound until it encounters an object. The sounds it produces depend on the strength of the wind and the shape and material of the object it touches. When the wind blows, trees sway, buildings rattle, materials move, and sound waves are generated. Some believe that temperature changes create layers of air, and that the friction between them forms a unique sound—perhaps the true voice of the wind, which birds may be the only creatures capable of recognising. Sometimes the wind howls; at other times, it sings or whistles, shifting from a gentle murmur to an angry roar. The wind’s range of frequencies, tones, and timbres is vast and varied. Tuning the Wind is a piece about the wind, made with the wind—an abstract expression of our ongoing conversation with nature.

Stainless starteten offiziell im Jahre 2022 in Portland, Oregon. Aktuelle und frühere Musiker waren vorher bei lokalen Underground-Bands wie Black Breath, Long Knife, Lebenden Toten, Halt, Bellicose Minds, Nightfell, Malikili und Ripper aktiv. Das erste Lebenszeichen der Band war die in Eigenregie gepresste 7" Single "Snakebite"/"Too Hot To Steal". Nun erscheint als Nachfolger das Mini-Album "Nocturnal Racer" mit dem Titelstück sowie "Shot For Shot", "Believer" und "The Evil Lies". Die vier Songs wurden 2023/24 in den Red Lantern Studios (Portland) von Larissa Cavacece (Gesang), Mira Sonnleitner (Bass), Joe Sugar (Drums) und Jamie Byrum (Gitarre, Gesang) eingespielt. Mittlerweile ist Joe Sugar durch Terrica Catwood von der Band Time Rift ersetzt worden. "Ich würde uns als Hardrock oder Heavy Rock bezeichnen", weiß Gitarrist und Sänger Jamie Byrum. "Es gibt zwar viele Elemente des Heavy Metal in unserer Musik, aber es wäre wohl missverständlich, uns als reinrassige Hevy-Metal-Band zu bezeichnen. Die erste Single war im Gegensatz zu "Nocturnal Racer" noch viel mehr im Blues verwurzelt." Frontlady Larissa Cavacece, die von Kanada nach Portland gezogen ist, prägt mit ihrer messerscharfen Stimme irgendwo zwischen Leather Leone und Wendy O. Williams den Sound von Stainless nicht unwesentlich. Jamie Byrum: "Ihre Einflüsse gehen weiter als Chastain und Plasmatics. Allerdings weiß ich, dass sie es ehrt, in einem Atemzug mit den beiden genannt zu werden. Larissa besitzt einen Goth-Background, schwört aber auch auf Crust-Bands wie Amebix und Sacrilege. Des weiteren ist sie ein großer Bowie-Fan und liebt den Rock der Siebziger. Passenderweise hat ihre Karriere als Sängerin in einer Plasmatics-Coverband begonnen." Laut dem Gitarristen/Sänger sind "Sex, Schlangen, Motorräder, schnelle Autos, Rock 'n' Roll, Standhaftigkeit, das Böse und Heavy Metal geeignete Themen für Stainless." Davon wird es in absehbarer Zukunft wohl noch mehr zu hören geben, denn Stainless arbeiten derzeit am Material für ihr erstes vollständiges Album.

Emanuela Hutter and Oliver Baroni front this Anglo-Italian masterly, modern rockabilly band, making worldwide waves from their home base of Zurich. Highlights of this 2011 relaunch album Buy Beg or Steal include a rockabilly cover of Enola Gay and their classic hit duet between Demented Are Go"s Sparky and Emanuela: My Love For Evermore. The song"s murder ballad viral video now has over 25,000,000 views. An international cult hit, it has also inspired myriad tattoos, multiple 7" pressings and well over fifty cover versions. Long anticipated remastering and reissue of the Jack Frost recordings, featuring Steve Kilbey of The Church & Grant McLennan of The Go Betweens. Dear Life Records is proud to present the physical reissue of the self titled debut of MJ Lenderman. MJ Lenderman is a songwriter born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. The anatomy of an MJ record might go something like this: warped pedal steels and skuzzed out guitar; a voice reminiscent of the high-lonesome warble of a choirboy; the keen observations and reflections of a front stoop philosopher. Songs snake their way from a lo-fi home recording to something glossier made with longtime friends at Asheville's Drop of Sun studios, but the recording setting doesn't seem to matter much - at its core, a Lenderman song rings true. "MJ Lenderman" was recorded, mixed and mastered for digital in 2019 by Colin Miller in Asheville NC, and was self-released online to quiet but firm acclaim. Now available as a Double LP and remastered for vinyl by Heather Jones, it offers a glimpse into the formative steps of a style; focused and precise, yet expansive and rough around the edges, that remains consistent across MJ's catalogue to date (see also 2021's `Ghost of Your Guitar Solo' (DLR 016) and 2022's `Boat Songs' (DLR 031)). Looking as firmly to the legacy of 90s slowcore as it does to the tenor of Magnolia Electric Co. and sound wall of Neil Young and Crazy Horse, these 9 songs clock in at just over an hour and offer warm, patient worlds of heavy color that blow by breezily. These are songs that wrap mysterious and urgent feeling in layers of patience and clarity that unfold anew with each timeless listen.

hHead(first H silent) came to local prominence in the early 90s during a time when unsigned bands could get their cassettes and CDs front racked at HMV’s 333 Yonge street shop and get their videos on MuchMusic’s City Limits or have their songs played, nay charting, on CFNY 102.1. The support was real and the fans showed up in numbers.

hHead rode the alternative rock/grunge wave for a few years with a couple albums that are without a doubt, of that era. Complete with sonic imperfections, flannel shirts, and low-slung guitars, these tunes represent an innocent time for some wayward twenty-somethings trying to live out their rocknroll dreams.

The band has chosen their favourite songs from their Jerk and Fireman albums. The album features double A-side artwork and has been remastered for vinyl by Noah Mintz of hHead at Lacquer Channel Mastering.

Panamá-born, Chicago-based drummer Daniel Villarreal is known to many for his work in Dos Santos, Wild Belle, The Los Sundowns, Valebol Rudy de Anda, and many more. He's one of the busiest players on the Chicago scene. If you're in the Windy City, find him almost any night of the week at a bar, club, or venue near you, either behind the drumkit or behind the turntables, donning a beaver skin stetson hat, with his baby blue vintage Mercedes parked out front. For his lead artist debut Panamá 77 he engages a diverse array of friends and collaborators - including Bardo Martinez (Chicano Batman), Jeff Parker (Tortoise), Marta Sofia Honer (Adrian Younge), Anna Butterss (Jenny Lewis), and Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements) - to create a vibrant and verdant suite of multi-textural psychedelic instrumental folk-funk.

The Local Moon (East Berlin 1987/88) The name The Local Moon originated from an intimation by the oriental jester Nasreddin that every city had its own moon. This idea did not go without a certain local colour in the bipolar frontline city of Berlin; from an astropolitical view, its divided sky never saw a full moon, the light conditions were ideologically broken. From the black light of those years emerged The Local Moon. René Le Doil and Ronald Lippok took wings like two crows from a pigeon’s nest when quite suddenly in 1987 light entertainment permeated East Berlin’s Offground and the two musicians were hired for the New Romantic revue New Affair. Before that, Le Doil had been involved in the Stattgespräch fashion spectacle and in Allerleirauh, the “thing of light, space, sound and leather”. Lippok had been the drummer for Rosa Extra, one of the earliest punk rock bands in East Berlin. Bubblegum XX features features members of Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, Greg Dulli, Izzy and Duff from Guns & Roses/Velvet Revolver, among other assorted rock luminaries. When Bubblegum was released, Mark chose to let it speak for itself and didn"t have much to say aside from within the small handful of interviews he did at the time. In 2017, he released a book of lyrics and writings called I Am The Wolf and wrote about the album then. Shared here are some of his words about the record. Song favorites include "When Your Number Isn"t Up," and "Strange Religion," a love song I wrote in a Tokyo hotel room. While many of the songs came from a place of dejection and ennui at the end of a tempestuous relationship, "Bombed" in particular came about when, after I had written and recorded it in just a few minutes, I put a microphone in front of Wendy Rae Fowler, my soon-to-be-ex-wife, and had her sing along while simultaneously hearing it for the first time. I loved the result as it reminded me of Royal Trux, a band I liked. When I insisted on using the first and only take of the song, it made her slightly unhappy, but to be fair, that was just one of many things I did that had that effect.

Legendary French DJ and producer The Hacker debuts on Radio Slave’s Rekids with the ‘Laser & Smoke’ EP on 21st February 2025. The two-track ‘Laser & Smoke’ EP harkens back to The Hacker’s early 90s roots in Detroit-inspired Electro & Techno. First, he starts with ‘Turborave’, a tasteful, bleepy cut with an unignorable bassline and muted dub chords that wash over its snappy groove. ‘Turborave’ is the kind of heads-down, lose-yourself dancefloor moment for the later hours before ‘Harmonia’ sees The Hacker play with high-voltage cables on the B-side. Charged-up zaps and zippy acid call and respond while bodied drum hits keep the rhythm moving, whistles and pads occasionally joining in.

Pioneering DJ and producer The Hacker is renowned for being a leading proponent of Electroclash in the early 2000s, his Techno and EBM-infused sound, and iconic collaborations with Miss Kittin. With releases on labels like Dark Entries, Mannequin Records, and Turbo, as well as remixes for Air, Soft Cell, Dave Clarke, and Front 242, The Hacker remains a vital force in electronic music. He now adds Radio Slave’s Rekids to his extensive discography for the first time via the ‘Laser & Smoke EP.

Radio Slave’s Rekids was founded in 2006 and has since spawned successful offshoots with the Techno-focused Rekids Special Projects in 2017 and its newest sublabel, REK’D, in 2024. With Matt Edwards as the sole A&R, Rekids has been crucial in developing early artist careers and has become a haven for established acts operating in House and adjacent genres, having recently featured the likes of Harry Romero, Hilit Kolet, William Kiss, Bushwacka, Mathias Kaden, Tiger Stripes, Tal Fussman, and many more.

Samtvogel' is one of those records. Günter Schickert recorded that amazing piece of human greatness in 1974, using the media he had at the time, putting his brain at work to find the best way of taping everything he had to say. When I was recording Samtvogel' in 1974 I had only 2 Taperecorders. I played one track and while listening I added the second one. And so on. Four times. When I mixed all together I borrowed a 3rd taperecorder. And still added the last track to the master. I had a small mixer with 2 stereo and 1 mono but it was possible to pan tracks. No equalization. It all came out of my still living G2000 Dynacord guitar amplifier, of course valve, with no master, even the voice recorded through it. If I made a mistake in 1 track I had to repeat it from the beginning. And if while mixing I was not fast enough in changing the tape I had to start again. So it took me more than 3 months to get ready.'

Thanks to these three months of work, between June and September of 1974, 'Samtvogel' was privately issued that same year. It would later be issued on the Brain label, with a small change in the artwork -titles added to the front cover, which weren't on the original private pressing. Brain also reissued it on the label's Rock On Brain' LP series, this time with a completely different sleeve. The album contained two tracks on side one and just one on side two, and its sound has often been compared to the most explorative works of Syd Barret - however it must be pointed that Schickert did not need any mind spreading substances to allow his sounds float out of his mind & soul, they just came out in the most natural way. Cindy Lee is the performance and songwriting vehicle of Patrick Flegel (who previously fronted influential indie group Women). Over several albums, Flegel has combined delicate melodies and sheer beauty with moments of experimentation. Timeless tales of love and longing, surrounded by sticky hooks, take the listener on an unforgettable journey. Diamond Jubilee was written and recorded over several years by Patrick Flegel in Toronto, Durham, Calgary and Montreal at Realis- tik Studios. Dazu gesellen sich vor allem Einflüsse aus dem frühen nordischen Black Metal, bei dem Namen wie GEHENNA, ULVER und DARKTHRONE fallen müssen - aber auch Inspirationen von deutschen Pionieren des Genres wie NAGELFAR und LUNAR AURORA. Mit dem englischen Gitarristen Gnàst, der den bisherigen Songwriter Grain mittlerweile abgelöst hat, kommen frische Ideen und Klänge zur bajuwarisch-schwarzen Klangwelt hinzu. Eine Reihe von Gastmusikern, unter anderem Mitglieder von EMPYRIUM, TRIPTYKON und DARK FORTRESS, bereichern ebenfalls das musikalische Spektrum. Im Herbst desselben Jahres zog die junge Band von Chicago in die Ostküstenmetropole, wo Penelope und Nora an der New York University ihr Studium begannen und das erste Mal überhaupt Musik außerhalb des elterlichen Zuhauses schrieben. Der Einfluss der neuen Umgebung macht sich unmittelbar im Sound bemerkbar. Zugleich wendet sich der Blick in Zeiten beispielloser Veränderungen nach innen. Im Januar 2024 kehrten Horsegirl nach Chicago zurück, um die neuen Songs aufzunehmen. Im "The Loft" Studio stellten sich dort ein Fokus und eine Intimität ein, wie sie wohl nur entstehen können, wenn es schlicht zu kalt ist, das Gebäude zu verlassen. Cate Le Bon führte die Band derweil in neue, helle und klare Sound-Gefilde, die Raum und Textur gegenüber den dichten Soundflächen des Debüts in den Vordergrund rücken und das charakteristische Songwriting von Horsegirl betonen. Dazu zählt auch der erstmalige Einsatz von Violinen, Synths und Gamelan. Die Leadsingle "2468" ist ein Beispiel für die offenkundige Experimentierlust auf "Phonetics On and On". Mit seinen Raincoats-artigen Streichern und energischen Drums verdreht einem der Song in seinem fortlaufenden Crescendo immer mehr den Kopf. Das dazugehörige Video stammt von der Schriftstellerin und Regisseurin Eliza Callahan und wurde von Alexa West choreographiert. Es ist schwer vorstellbar, dass Songs wie die auf "Phonetics On and On" augenblicklich von irgendwem anderes stammen könnten als von diesem Trio bester Freundinnen. Nora, Penelope und Gigi schreiben mit ungefilterter Aufrichtigkeit über Szenen ihrer Jugend als Momentaufnahmen des Lebens. Die Liebe zueinander ist dabei in jedem Augenblick spürbar und resoniert durch und durch im Zusammenspiel auf ihrem zweiten Album. Horsegirl gründeten sich 2019 in der umtriebigen DIY-Szene Chicagos. Die damals 17- und 18-jährigen Schülerinnen zählen Yo La Tengo und Pavement zu ihren erklärten Vorbildern. Ihr Debüt, auf dem Steve Shelley und Lee Ranaldo als Gäste zu hören sind, nahm die Band in Steve Albinis Studio mit John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) auf. Zuletzt tourten Horsegirl u. a. mit The Breeders.

SHOLTO's 'Letting Go of Forever' is an expansive double LP that digs deep into his other-worldly blend of cinematic soul, and psychedelic library music. Drawing on influences spanning Mozart, Arthur Verocai, Piero Umiliani and David Axelrod, the record sits alongside contemporaries including Robohands, The Ironsides and Surprise Chef.

A captivating listen, well worth the investment of time across its 26-track run time, SHOLTO explores the concept of letting go as a painfully natural ritual, characterising the art of being able to do so as riddled with complexities and anguish. Morbid to some, but beautifully freeing to others, the art of letting go of the idea that anything should be forever can be relieving, allowing us to cherish what is in front of us in the moment.

Be it in the face of the deaths of friends and loved ones or weddings and celebratory moments, everything is just passing, and SHOLTO spins a delicate balance between this dark and light on the record, pursuing the narrative that you can always turn a negative into a positive.
