Ryan James Ford is back on Clone Dub Recordings with his promising first full length album! After relocating to Berlin Ryan realized how much influence the soil of his home town have on him. Exshaw, Canada, where the home of Heart Mountains begin. Ryan has tried to capture his youth and musical influences over the years. Growing up in an area were the interaction of man and technology was more than palpable. Stories of haunted areas... swimming in the cold, strong current river with people disappearing... going to raves in the nineties. Exploration, optimism, youth and and living there forever... His memories of Exshaw are all translated in the sound design and programming on this 14 track album ranging from almost cinematic pieces to full on dancefloor belters. Claude Huey was a we coast soul singer who after leaving the army sang with Jesse “Ozz” Osborne & The Sperlings. As a solo artist he recorded a number of sides in the late 60s including the highly acclaimed and sought after “Why Would You Blow It”.
It was produced by “Ozz” who became a chief engineer at Fantasy Records and went on to work with Lenny Williams, The Debonaires, Freddie Hubbard and an array of soul and jazz artists.
“Why Would You Blow It” became popular on the UK’s Northern Soul Scene, originals of this record becoming rare and expensive to purchase.

• Marion formed in Manchester in 1994 and released their debut album This World And Body in 1996. The album reached number 10 in the UK album chart and the band found further success with the singles ‘Let’s All Go Together’ and ‘Sleep’.
• To follow up on their triumphant debut, the band returned to the studio to record The Program with exSmiths guitarist Johnny Marr on production duties.

A modern soul double header 7” that has become increasingly in demand is this gem by Marc LaRoi Cummings. Original copies on the Setting Sun label have been exchanging hands for £60-£80 where they have become available. The original label, song writing and production is courtesy of former Motown artist Ronnie McNeir, now a member of The Four Tops, and always of interest to the soul community through the quality of his work on his own releases and for others. It was his first album on Ronnie’s own Setting Sun label from 1985 that became Expansion’s first artist album release, while his label engaged with other artists such as Marc who worked with Ronnie as a backing singer on work with David Ruffin (“Gentleman Ruffin”) and The Four Tops (he co-wrote “Strung Out For Your Love”)

Willie Bobo was a Latin jazz percussionist from New York who recorded over 20 albums between 1963 and 1979. During the 70s jazz funk period he recorded a version of Always There' to rival the Ronnie Laws original as the definitive version becoming a dance floor favourite. The album and extended 12' versions have been reissued many times, now here's a first issue of the more compact 7' version which has become more in demand recently. It is coupled with an extremely popular vocal track Comin' Over Me' featuring singer Errol Knowles. It is the first time this song has been released on 7'. Willie's son is Eric Bobo, a member of Cypress Hill.

At last, another chance to get a classic soul masterpiece on 7” vinyl, even if you can score an original copy for about £800.

Timeless Legend were Jackie Hogg, Allen B. Burney, Donald Harmon, and Michael Harmon from Columbus, Ohio. Their music is among the most elusive on the rare funk/soul scene with the 7” of “I Was Born To Love You” a huge crossover club. Few have actually ever set eyes on this album either, and those who own one have paid £2,000 for the privilege.

Dee Edwards is a 70s soul singer who has impacted on the modern, rare and two step scenes. She is particularly well known for “(I Can) Deal With That” for the Detroit De-To label before her spell at Cotillion Records. Here she recorded two albums “Heavy Love” and “Two Hearts Are Better Than One” from which the A and B side or our 7” are taken. “Put The World On Hold” has previously been only a go to modern dancer track on an album. “Put Your Love On The Line” is a disco/boogie pleaser produced by Michael Zager, an early 7” issue of this being an edit. Enjoy it now in all its glory

Kniteforce head honcho Luna-C once again teams up Kniteforce Radio manager and all round oddball the Lowercase for a follow up to their well received Heavy Beats EP. This time, moving on to a more 92/93 sound, and cleverly crafting an EP that has 4 tracks while also having 5 tracks. It will take a skilled Dj to work it out though! All 4 (5) tracks are proper old skool, built almost entirely on hardware, and lovingly crafted for the discerning hardcore ear!

"Glenn Jones" needs no introduction, he's one of the finest soul vocalists still making music and started in gospel with 'The Modulations' - came to the fore in the early 80's as a featured vocalist with Norman Connors, and recorded also classic albums for RCA, Jive and Atlantic.
Glenn is currently completing a new album “Love By Design” from which “You & Me” is the first single. Limited edition vinyl is released to coincide with Glenn’s appearance at the January, 2020, Luxury Soul Weekender.

Ahead of the 5th Blackpool International Soul Festival in June 2020, Expansion are pre-releasing a re-release from one the participating artists, the amazing Maxine Brown.

“Let Me Give You My Lovin’” is one of her most classic songs, originally released on Wand Records in 1966.

Original copies are worth over £100.

“Let Me Do It” is a rare and extremely classy soul/boogie track from 1981, largely unknown at the time but becoming progressively sought after. Original copies have sold at between $1500 and $2000.

“The Streets Got My Lady” became prolific as an upbeat modern soul gem on his one outing for the Piedmont label, original pressings of this today fetching in excess of £350. “Whatever I Am, I’m Yours” which has also become in demand and exchanges hands for over £250.

Ronnie McNeir has been associated with Expansion for over 30 years through his own Setting Sun label. Now on 7' for the first time in the UK Expansion bring something special for Record Store Day, 500 hand numbered copies of the 1981 Detroit soul single 'My Baby'. An original copy will set you back £100 and these limited edition RSD pressings will become sought after too. 'Hold On' comes from the 1989 Expansion album 'Life & Love', and is released for the first time here on 7' single. Ronnie currently tours as a member of The Four Tops and is back to perform a rare solo concert in June 2019 as part of this year's Blackpool International Soul Festival.

Mireia Records is exstatic to welcome back Johannes Klingebiel . Johannes has steadily carved a niche for himself with his distinct brand of emotive, yet playful house music. Coming out strongly with his debut 'Latewood' in 2015 and following up with the poignant 'Nightlife' on Mireia Records in 2017. Now he's continuing his knack for contemplative, melodic and danceable music on 'It's OK To Cry'. Opener 'It's OK To Cry' is as tender as you would imagine. It is brilliantly doleful, with thoughtful keys and deep, lo fi drums all tugging at the heart strings. The foolproof 'Piano Thang' again shows off Klingebiel's musical credentials with nimble keys glistening over a more uplifting drum line as cosmic synths elevate your spirits. Kicking off the B-side is the superb 'Really' which journeys back into an insular reverie, with pained synth sounds and a sense of longing pervading the deep house atmospheres and masterfully arranged keys. Next up we have 'Time Is Now' , a slow burning but subtly euphoric number that raises you up on percolating bass and glistening, deep space keys. The package completes with more deep excellence in the form of 'Steel Away' , with meandering pads encouraging your mind to drift as cavernous kicks create a warm and welcoming environment in which to get lost. Inspirited by the music, labelheads RSS Disco set out to find a striking visual reflection of this release. The vinyl is housed in thick inside-out cardboard with hand stamped labels and features an inlay card (surprise).

From Mississippi, Veatrice Thomas moved to Los Angeles and in 1967 began recording as Ty Karim. She worked closely with her writer/producer husband Kent Harris since her debut single 'Lighten Up Baby' through to the rare groove/modern soul masterpiece 'Keep On Doin'' first released in 1980. Both the 7' and 12' have been highly desirable on the collectors scene, exchanging hands for vast sums of money. This is pure quality, as you would expect from Expansion. Features co-lead vocals by George Griffin.

From a golden period of Philly soul comes one of the most classic 'two step' and 'rare groove' releases from the PIR label's group The Futures. 'Ain't No Time Fa Something' (also released in error as 'Ain't Got Time Fa Nuthin'') remains a timeless spin for DJs, and became rare on 7' since the growth in popularity of the revived format. The track has also been sampled sevent times, first by Jamiroquai in 1994 in 'Morning Glory', and most recently Flamingos is in 'Cruise Control'. The flip of this 7' release 'Party Time Man' came from the same period and is both the group's biggest commercial hits and has become a significant revival itself over the last ten years, equally rare on original 7' single.

Gloria Taylor was from Ohio and was discovered by a promoter and production manager for James Brown. They later married. Gloria recorded for King Soul from the late 60s. Her biggest chart record was the Grammy nominated 'You Got To Pay The Price' (1969) before a move to California and collaborations with Selector Sound/Columbia Records in the 70s. From these, the two songs presented here have become her most enduring and sought after. They are the most atmospheric and slow burning deep soul cuts and only two on a full Columbia label release. Originals are extremely expensive.

Patti Austin Is From Harlem, New York, The Goddaughter To Quincy Jones With Whom She Sang On the Dude' (including razzamatazz'). She Has Released Solo Albums Since 1976 And Won A Grammy For Her 2008 Release. Her First Singles Were For The Coral Label In The 60s From Where She Has Popularity Began With Northern Soul Fans. In The Early 70s She Recorded For Columbia, A Period From Which The Two Songs Re-released Here Are Her Most Popular. are We Ready For Love' In Its Own Right And didn't Say A Word' As A Highly Regarded Rendition Of A Classic First Recorded By Yvonne Baker. Patti Is Headlining At The Blackpool International Soul Festival In Manchester, Uk This Coming June.

From Buffalo, New York, Joanie Was Primarily A 60s Pop Singer And Actress Who Recorded Numerous Singles For Warner Brothers During That Decade. don't Pity Me' Was Recorded And Originally Released In 1965 And Has Become Her Most Sought After Release. An Original Has Been Valued At £400, A Rare Clip Of The Song Viewed Over 200,000 Times On Youtube. It's Popularity Stems From The Northern Soul Scene Where In The 70s It Was 'covered Up' Under The Artist Name Yvonne Daniels.

Vae Victis can't hide their love and passion for raw house and techno. On this 5th release there is another fine selection of hybrids between styles perfectly expressing their love for genre bending music. Durant exsists out of a small collective of producers with main roles for Steve Murphy, Die Roh and Lucretio, alongside Blawan. "The Dove Ultimatum", a 4 tracks ep of punchy analogue electronic music! On the a-side lay General Motors and At Ten, 2 broken beat electro techno tracks a la Drexciya showing the hardest and most experimental side of the project. While on the flip the trio bring things on a housier field, though staying loyal to the a-side vibe by delivering 2 dark and obsessive raw house tracks.
