Seit der Veröffentlichung ihres letzten Albums Khram (2018) haben ARKONA aufmerksam das Weltgeschehen verfolgt und spiegeln auf den acht neuen Tracks jeweils ein Problem der modernen Gesellschaft
als auch den Abstieg in die Hölle wider.

„Kob‘“ (DE: Die Zauberei) gräbt die längst vergessene Vergangenheit aus. Melodische Synthie-Einstreuungen und bedrohliche Gitarrenspiele untermalen die Aussage des Songs, dass die Menschheit nicht aus den Fehlern der Geschichte gelernt hat sondern in einem Teufelskreis steckt und besagte Fehler immer wieder erneut
begeht. Auf ”Razryvaya plot’ ot bezyskhodnosti bytiya” (was im Deutschen so viel heißt wie: Einer hoffnungslosen Existenz das Fleisch vom Knochen reißen) gibt sich Sängerin Masha einem emotionale Keyboard-Solo hin, das Bände spricht. Kriege, religiöse Überzeugungen und Umweltprobleme läuten die letzten Stunden ein während nachdenkliche Flöten- und akustische Gitarreneinlagen das letzte bisschen Vernunft ausdiskutieren. Obgleich Kob’ tief im Pagan Metal der frühen Tage verwurzelt ist, richtet es sich durch seine moderne Produktion und Diversität nicht nur an langjährige Fans, sondern gleichermaßen an neue Zielgruppen.

Frisch nach ihrem Vertrag mit From The Vaults kündigen die epischen Doom-Metaller ALTAR OF OBLIVION die Veröffentlichung der EP "Burning Memories" an. It is focussed on live and studio collaborations and this one comes in two halves: the first half kicks off with '6th Chakra' (feat DJ Deflektorschild) - a fully live deep house and hi-tek soul exploration with mind-expanding synths and Detroit drum sounds. 'King OTN' is a jack dup acid cut ripped with cosmic synth details and 'DX Metero' has sheet metal synths lashing about next to ethereal synths and busted drum breaks. Past Inside The Present has really gone to town with the re-release of this 36 album The Lower Lights: it comes in several different formats and vinyl versions with this one being a limited, numbered and opaque red vinyl including a download code. Musically it is just as essential as a collection of tracks from a year-long 'Audio Diary' project undertaken by 36 between April 2018 and April 2019. It first came back in May 2019 and soon sold out, such is the quality of the vibrant and eclectic ambient sounds within. This is not sleep-inducing background material, but rather emotionally charged soundscaping with a mix of dark, futuristic and urgent pieces all making the cut.

Dry Tears is the latest release from the Bruto Industries label and their first release in 12" format. On this occasion, xKukum, one of the founding members of the label, presents his first EP.

The record, which was recorded in late 2020, traces an emotional journey from the distortion of reality caused by melancholy to the determination to move away from it. The EP consists of four original tracks that guide the listener through this journey, with influences from EBM, Dark Wave, Techno, and more. On side A, we find more introspective and melodic tracks, while side B offers sounds more focused on the dance floor. As a special addition, Colombian artist Filmmaker contributes a remix of the track "No More Dramas," complementing the atmosphere of the album with his characteristic powerful sound.

Like previous releases from the label, this work has been mastered by Dan Böhler, who has provided the EP with a sound quality that will not disappoint genre lovers. The artwork is done by Marcos Abella, who completes the concept with an imagery influenced by manga and cyberpunk aesthetics.

Das selbstbetitelte Debüt von ENVY OF NONE, der bunten Zusammenrottung von Gitarrist/Keyboarder Alf Annibalini, Rush-Gitarrist Alex Lifeson, Bassist Andy Curran (Coney Hatch) und Singer/Songwriterin Maiah Wynne war eine der spannendsten Grenzgänger-Platten des Jahres 2022 und hat sich bis heute nicht abgenutzt. Die Band schreibt schlicht verdammt gute, emotional greifbare und musikalisch fesselnde Lieder in einem Spannungsfeld aus State-of-the-Art-Elektronik und Rock/Pop-Tradition.

Die nun nachgeschobene EP "That Was Then, This Is Now" dient ihrem Titel entsprechend als Standortbestimmung und enthält zwei Tracks aus den Debüt-Sessions, zwei Remixe und das erste nach "Envy of None" komponierte ´That Was Then´. Stilistisch war das Quartett von Beginn an so vielseitig, dass man nun nicht von einer zusätzlichen Erweiterung ihres Repertoires sprechen kann - doch das famose Songwriting bleibt erhalten, und für Rush-Fans noch besser: Lifesons Spiel schimmert noch einen Tick präsenter durch.

´Lethe River´ ist dem Album-Opener ´Never Said I Love You´ relativ ähnlich, aber insgesamt doch ruhiger. Darauf folgt mit ´You´ll Be Sorry´ sachte brodelnder und zischender Industrial light, der ebenfalls auf "Envy of None" hätte stehen können - was ja auch plausibel erscheint, weil beide Stücke im gleichen Rutsch entstanden sind.

Nicholas Allbrook is a Western Australian native and a highly-accomplished Australian songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Since the beginning of his artistic career in 2005, Allbrook has brought community and collaboration to the forefront of his artistic method. Laura Poitras’ Oscar-nominated film »All the Beauty and the Bloodshed« is an epic, emotional and interconnected story about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin. Told through intimate interviews, photography, and footage, central to the story is her personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the opioid crisis. The film cuts to the bone with its incandescent celebration of life and condemnation of those who threaten it. Art and activism are one and the same.

Helping to interweave Goldin’s past and present, multi-disciplinary duo Soundwalk Collective soundtrack her personal and political struggles to sublime effect. The contemporary sonic arts platform of founder and artist Stephan Crasneanscki and producer Simone Merli, the pair work with a rotating constellation of artists and musicians, developing site-and-context-specific sound projects through which to examine conceptual, literary, or artistic themes. And for all the beauty and the bloodshed on show here, the duo strike the balance just right; their compositions in collaboration with Zacharias Falkenberg and Johannes Malfatti producing a trance that oscillates between grace and madness.

Within the score, Crasneanscki draws connections with the life and work of German poet Friedrich Hölderlin, who was removed from society through confinement in institutions. In his last poems, written as fragments while he was plagued by mental illness, Hölderlin renders nature, in all its fragility and ephemerality. Similar themes merge in Laura's portrait of Goldin and serve as an inspiration for the composition of the choral songs and cantus within the soundtrack. Through the repetition of words and the layering of voices, the lyric scansion operates like a language possessed, echoing various styles from sacred music to modern minimalist techniques. The music is characterised by quivering strings and swells, de-tuning and lingering, shifting around the surreal, and creating a spectrum of musical experience. Exerts of Nan’s narration are featured in two of the tracks, her powerful narration offering a more direct approach to the storytelling.

In »All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,« Poitras shows protest is really Goldin’s great artwork: Her entire life had been leading to this moment of passionate expression, an inspired situationist gesture which fused the personal and the political. Art can change the world, which Poitras and Goldin tell us with powerful results. While there are multiple threads in this remarkable portrait which could have carried entire films, the soundtrack provides a sonic identity that helps keep track of proceedings. Utterly unique in their approach, Soundwalk Collective have delivered a gripping and thoughtful score, helping turn Goldin’s personal pain into culture-rattling impact.

Emile Mosseri is an Oscar and GRAMMY nominated artist, earning acclaim for his scores for the films Minari (2021) and The Last Black Man In San Francisco (2019) Recently worked with Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith on the critically acclaimed album, "I Could Be Your Dog / I Could Be Your Moon" (2022). On Heaven Hunters, Mosseri looks inwards, using his distinctive sound and gift for musical storytelling for his most personal work. Produced by The Haxan Cloak, Heaven Hunters explores the weight of choosing one path in life, putting to death every other possible future, and finding comfort in redefining happiness.

For Mosseri, the search for Heaven _ a concept of perpetual happiness void of suffering _ is a fruitless effort that blocks us from finding peace and balance in life as it really is. Driven by Mosseri's poignant lyrics and intimate singing, Heaven Hunters is a celebration of the highs and lows that create that equilibrium, built around songs of longing, love, heartbreak, familial struggle, and domestic bliss. It is a vulnerable, heartfelt album that is both expansive and cinematic in its dynamic scope and deeply stripped down and exposed in its emotional core, ready to be experienced as intimately as possible.

Ruhig verlief die Karriere von Sieges Even nicht. Nach den ersten beiden Alben verzeichneten sie den ersten Besetzungswechsel auf der Sängerposition, auf den Album „Sophisticated“ (1995) und „Uneven“ (1997) betrieben die Holzwarth Brüder (Bass und Drums) die Band weiter.
Doch man fand sich wieder mit Gitarrist Markus Steffen zusammen
und rekrutierte den Ausnahmesänger Arno Menses, der zuvor als Schlagzeuger aktiv war. Mit diesem Line Up eroberte man die Herzen der Progfans, aber auch die von anspruchsvollen Metalheads. Erneut waren Sieges Even zum richtigen Zeitpunkt am richtigen Ort.

„The Art Of Navigating By The Stars“ wurde in dem Black Solaris Studio von Uwe Lulis (heute auch bekannt als Gitarrist von Accept) aufgenommen und erschien bei InsideOut Music, damals im SPV Vertrieb. Es folgten traumhafte Kritiken, auch für die im Anschluss stattfindende Tournee.

Natürlich war 2005 nicht an Vinyl zu denken, so dass diese Wiederveröffentlichung bereits von vielen Fans erwartet wird.
Aber auch die CD ist seit einigen Jahren „out of print“, so dass auch hier Handlungsbedarf bestand. Die Grafiken der Doppel-LP im Gatefold wurde vom Originalkünstler Thomas Ewerhard erstellt und das Audiomaterial getrennt für Vinyl und CD remastert.

Das Konzept rund um „The Art Of Navigating By The Stars“ begeistert heute noch ebenso wie die sowohl vertrackte und harte, aber eben auch gefühlvolle Musik. Hier waren Sieges Even einfach die deutschen Großmeister.

Sieges Even‘s career has not been quiet. After the first two albums, the band had its first change of singer. On the albums „Sophisticated“ (1995) and „Uneven“ (1997), the Holzwarth brothers (bass and drums) kept the band going. But they ended up with the guitarist Markus Steffen and recruited the outstanding singer Arno Menses, who was previously active as a drummer. With this line up, the band has won the hearts of prog fans, but also of demanding metalheads. Once again, Sieges Even was in the right place at the right time.

„The Art Of Navigating By The Stars“ was recorded in the Black Solaris studio by Uwe Lulis (also known today as Accept‘s guitarist) and released by InsideOut Music, then distributed by SPV. This was followed by dream reviews, also for the tour that followed.

Of course, there was no question of releasing a vinyl in 2005, so this reissue is already expected by many fans. But the CD has also been „out of print“ for a few years, so it was also necessary to act in this context. The graphics of the double LP in gatefold were made by the original artist Thomas Ewerhard and the audio material was remastered separately for the vinyl and the CD.

The concept of „The Art Of Navigating By The Stars“ is still exciting today, as is the music, which is both complicated and hard, but also full of emotion. In this sense, Sieges Even were simply the great German masters.

We are delighted to welcome from the Finnish electronic music underground the artists MESAK to the n s y d e family. Mesak's dedication to experimentation and sonic exploration always excited us. With an extraordinary sense of futuristic sound designs, these tracks are a perfect example of finding the sweet spots between established and new techniques. The First track "Katosi" shows impressively how a contemporary dertroitish sound design is still able to transport ancient human feelings like hope and melancholia at the same time.

The acidic grounded "Narina" creates a dungeon space constantly hitting the whiplash snare drum, while "Post Sweat" is pouring golden Larry Heard-like warm Deep House neutrons upon you.


For the Remix, he has invited one of the most interesting artists in the field of electronic experimentation coming out of France, Poborsk, also known under his Bill Vortex moniker.


Mesak's music invites listeners to explore a range of emotions and moods, from the contemplative to the ecstatic, with a sense of sincerity and authenticity that is extraordinarily rare.

Tenderly propelling and full of haunting melodies: Studio Mule re-issues Sakura Tsuruta’s so far digital only, self-released debut album “c / o” from november 2022.

An evocative first long player by Tokyo based artist, who was trained in classical piano during childhood, played with brass instruments, studied music production, and is today active as a composer, live performer, and versatile dj.

With “c / o” she expressed her personal history in a fluid, around 43-minute long light flooded, yet dark-ish musical vision. eight profoundly composed tracks, melding complex rhythms with emotional airs, tripping arpeggios, and ghostly sounds, slightly influenced by some of her fa-vorite artist like björk, holly herndon, or kaitlyn aurelia smith.

“c / o is a love letter for the experiences, people, and memories i had in the last two years that i spent producing this album. i also like that the letter “c” looks like an incomplete circle, whereas the letter “o” is a full circle.

In 2003, Belgian composer, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Chris Joris released his Magnus Opus "Out of the Night" on the Belgian jazz label W.E.R.F. records. The album - an emotionally infused tribute to his late wife - became a commercial success and received several reprints over the years. Meanwhile, the release has been out of print for some time. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of one of Belgium's most important jazz records of the past three decades and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of W.E.R.F. records, this gem is being reissued, for the first time ever on vinyl.
Especially for this reissue, the album has been enriched with some never before released tracks and alternative takes from the original recording sessions.

After recently releasing the critically-acclaimed Plains album (I Walked With You A Ways) with Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee, Jess Williamson’s Time Ain’t Accidental is the sound of a woman running into her life and art head-on. That artists from the (European) Far North tend to melancholy is one thing that has already been confirmed many times. VORNA is no different. The band from Tampere has been in existence since 2008, and still is today in its original line-up. The six-piece group is well-rehearsed and has continuously developed its sound over the years. With pride and self-confidence the musicians grasp their playing as "Finnish melancholic metal". This means songs with a dark mood and an emotional state-of-mind, which cause reactions from the developing atmosphere. The melancholy comes to bear on different levels, but without ever slipping into pessimistic gloom. VORNA's access to the heavy spectrum is broad and open-minded. The six musicians are guided by their emotions and transform them into dark tuned music. Starting from a base between Folk and Black Metal, the Finns have enriched their playing since 2008. The symphonic extension of the third album underlines the atmospheric and melodic composition of the songs. "Sateet palata saavat" means something like "Return to Rains". In other words: something is brewing before the sky opens its floodgates and the power of nature discharges. This picture fits very well to what VORNA musically have to offer. "Sateet palata saavat" develops to be tense and intense. VORNA's vocals, left in Finnish, don't compromise the access to VORNA's "Finnish melancholic metal". The underlying emotions can be empathized and create an interaction with the listener right from the beginning. The organic songwriting of VORNA underlines the down-to-earth approach, the Finns are following. Partially, however, "Sateet palata saavat" sounds uncanny and creepy.

With The Complex Inbetween Dahm Majuri Cipolla (MONO, Watter) and Reto Ma"der (Sum Of R, Ural Umbo) put a dazzling spin on the timeless music of genre innovators like Can, Faust and Neu!, incorporating noisier and more abrasive elements to create a mental odyssey into the uncanny. Born from the collision of the most unreal moments of Ma"der's free-flowing musical associations with Cipolla's stick-wielding hands, these eight compositions form the duo's own mythical realm after the rhythm has been set. As the cradle of electronic music, krautrock is often viewed by outsiders in terms of the mechanical rather than the human, yet Ma"der and Cipolla manage to uncover a human side that has always been present in the music of their forebears. That driving beat which powers album opener «Come To The Center» was never meant to be called `Motorik', as explains its inventor Klaus Dinger of Neu! in one interview. "It is very much a human beat. Teenage Fanclub have announced news of their tenth studio album, Endless Arcade, released 5th March. Even if we weren’t living through extraordinarily troubling times, there is nothing quite like a Teenage Fanclub album to assuage the mind, body and soul, and to reaffirm that all is not lost in this world.

Endless Arcade follows the band’s ninth album “Here”, released in 2016 to universal acclaim and notably their first Top 10 album since 1997; a mark of how much they’re treasured. The new record is quintessential TFC: melodies are equal parts heart-warming and heart-aching; guitars chime and distort; keyboard lines mesh and spiral; harmony-coated choruses burst out like sun on a stormy day.

In the 1990s, the band crafted a magnetically heavy yet harmony-rich sound on classic albums such as “Bandwagonesque” and “Grand Prix”. This century, albums such as “Shadows” and “Here” have documented a more relaxed, less ‘teenage’ Fanclub, reflecting the band’s stage in life and state of mind, which Endless Arcade slots perfectly alongside. The album walks a beautifully poised line between melancholic and uplifting, infused with simple truths. The importance of home, community and hope is entwined with more bittersweet, sometimes darker thoughts - insecurity, anxiety, loss.

Such is life. But the title track suggests, “Don’t be afraid of this endless arcade that is life.”

A preview from the album came in February 2019 with Raymond’s ‘Everything Is Falling Apart’, an online single released at the outset of a six-month tour and a highlight of Endless Arcade.

Everything is falling apart? Well, yes, but the song was written long before COVID-19 arrived. Neither was Raymond’s inspiration political or social, but more, “the entropy in the universe, the knowledge that everything eventually decays,” he explains. But Raymond says relax. Or rather, “Relax, find love, hold on to the hand of a friend”.

Fortunately, Endless Arcade was virtually finished by the time lockdown was announced, bar the odd tinker under the engine hood. It seems timely, given how everyone had to initially stay home under lockdown, that the album starts with Norman’s ‘Home’, though it was chosen in part because of its opening line: “Every morning, I open my eyes...” The album’s longest track (at seven minutes) typifies TFC’s relaxed groove, culminating in Raymond’s peach of a guitar solo.

Norman’s search for ‘home’ could be literal: after all, he’s been living in Canada for the last 10 years. But it’s also figurative. Like Norman’s other Endless Arcade songs – The Sun Won’t Shine On Me’, ‘Warm Embrace’, ‘I’m More Inclined’, ‘Back In The Day’ and ‘Living With You’ – his words on ‘Home’ are etched by loss and yearning. “Without going into too much detail, the last eighteen months have been challenging for me on an emotional level,” he admits. “But it’s been cathartic channelling some of these feelings and emotions into song.”

Lucky For You is Bully's most close-to-the-bone album yet. It's an album that's searing and unmistakably marked by its creator's experiences, while still retaining the massive sound that Alicia Bognanno has become known for over the last decade. Her fourth album draws from personal pain and the universal struggle that is existing, learning, and moving on-and it's all soundtracked by Bognanno's rock-solid melodic sensibilities and a widescreen sound that's impossible to pin down when it comes to the textures explored. These ten songs are simply the most irresistible Bognanno's put to tape yet, making Lucky For You her greatest triumph to date in a career already packed with them. Work on Lucky For You began last year, when Bognanno brought some in-progress demos to producer J.T. Daly in his Nashville studio to see if they could strike creative kismet. "Authenticity is always on my mind, without even knowing it," she explains while discussing their recording process together. "It was great with J.T., because I could tell he was a genuine fan who wanted to emphasize what's actually good about my writing instead of changing it. I could tell how much he cared about the project, and it meant alot to me." The album came together over the course of seven months, the longest gestation process for a Bully record to date, but that time allowed inspiration to emerge in new ways. The result is a kaleidoscopic rock record spanning punk's grit, the crunchy bliss of shoegaze, explosive Britpop, and the type of classic anthems Bully has been known for. Lucky For You's thematic focus zooms in on grief and loss: The record is largely inspired by Bognanno's dog and best friend Mezzi passing away, at a time when her life already felt as if in metamorphosis. The oceanic first single "Days Move Slow" was written shortly after Mezzi's passing, reflecting the persistence of Bognanno's incisive wit in the face of adversity. "There was nothing I could do except sit down and write it, and it felt so good." And then there's the passionate opening track "All I Do," which kicks in the door with huge riffs atop her lyrical reflections on three years of sobriety. "Once I stopped drinking, I felt like I was still haunted by mistakes and things that had happened when I was drinking, and it's still taking me a long time to forget about that while existing in this house. How do I shed the skin from a path I've moved on from?" In that vein, Lucky For You is a document of perseverance in the face of the big and the small stuff. "I'm so overly emotional and sensitive, it's a blessing and a curse" she says with a laugh, but there's no downside to her expressions of vulnerability on this record; it's the latest bit of evidence that nothing can hold Bognanno back.
