Sagacious reggae lyricist Vaughn Benjamin’s words are particularly cutting during Sow And The Reap, the final recording of Vaughns immense catalog of works with I Grade Records. Produced by Zion I Kings, and taken from 2021’s album Polarities, Sow And The Reap folds topics of political dominance, mass migration, and injustice into a thought provokingly coherent whole. The song brims with Vaughn’s characteristic dual-meaning word-play, using evocative metaphors of nature and agriculture to illuminate global policy. Sow And The Reap’s timeless lyrical principles are matched by its inexorable reggae rhythm, featuring hefty programmed drums by Romain “Teflon Zincfence” Arnett, and sombre trombone and space age synth, both supplied by much missed multi-instrumentalist Drew Keys. Backed by its correspondingly haunting dub.

This series honours both the vocal and version culture of the reggae sound system and the profound lyricism of Vaughn Benjamin. We have consistently received two requests in relation to releasing the LPs: "Can we have dub versions?" and "Where can we read the lyrics?" Our response is the 'Akae Beka - vocal, version and word-sound collection.' Before Zero Records worked with Tippy I Grade to mix a series of dub mixes from a carefully curated selection of his extensive works with Vaughn Benjamin. The vocal and corresponding dub mixes were then cut to wax by Lewis Hopkin of Star Delta and wrapped in a collage made of Ras Marcus's artworks, which he crafted for various LP covers of Vaughn's works throughout the years with the lyrics transcribed and printed on the rear of each sleeve.

Here is an expanded edition of one of Nurse With Wound's most intense and unique albums, so much so that for long-time fans, it was a strange, chaotic lounge oddity upon its release. For the first time, all four audio sides are complete (originally, there were only three sides).

To top it off, there is a stunning new cover by the great and talented Babs Santini, who is none other than Steven Stapleton using his artist pseudonym, continuing in the luxurious tradition of the "silver collection" at Rotorelief Records.

The album Huffin' Rag Blues by Nurse With Wound is unique in the NWW discography. Stapleton teams up with composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Liles, his co-creator of musical terrorism, to tackle the genres of exotica and lounge, crushed into a joyful cacophonic mess. Longtime NWW friends Colin Potter and Matt Waldron also join in.

Blues, jazz, cop movies, bachelor pads, and TV show music are treated, discarded, then chopped up and recycled into a mix that contains tons of space but also overflows with dynamic tension, hilarious asides, sexually suggestive poetry, and a certain rock & roll abandon. It's a very surprising album for long-time fans, like a soundtrack that could accompany a David Lynch film.

It's brilliant, exasperating, hilarious, and dark enough to earn a spot in any collection that appreciates a bit of weirdness and eccentricity.

Huffin' Rag Blues incorporates more familiar musical elements—including live-played instruments, rhythm, and vocals—than nearly any other Nurse With Wound album to date. As always, the album's main focus is to create environments for lucid dreaming rather than music per se.

Playing with a Different Sex was the debut album by seminal post-punk band Au Pairs, released in 1981.

Described retrospectively by AllMusic as ‘one of the great post-punk records’, a review by Record Mirror on its release said the band’s ‘critique of all forms of possession and sexual stereotyping assumes a devastating power’. Themes include sexual politics and the torture of women imprisoned in Northern Ireland during The Troubles of the 1970s, as well as a stunning cover of David Bowie’s ‘Repetition’ about domestic violence. It peaked at No. 33 in the UK, and features the single ‘It's Obvious’, which reached No. 37 on the US Club Play Singles chart. Released in 1990, Permanent Damage is the fifth and final studio album by British alternative rock band The Icicle Works. It will be preceded by vibrant visual representations of key tracks ‘Reggae Poison’, ’Row Fisherman/Whale Song’ and ‘This is Hell’ created by Peter Harris and Llyr Williams. “I always saw Lee as a performance artist rather than a musician in the traditional sense, so this conceptual backing feels like a more accurate setting for his stream of conscious performance art,” Peter Harris explained. “There is an attention to Lee’s history here too, something that elevates the musical collage with the echoes informed by albums like Super Ape where earlier tracks were recorded over again. Yellowstone is an American neo-Western drama television series. The series stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly and follows the conflicts along the shared borders of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, a large cattle ranch, the Broken Rock Indian reservation, Yellowstone National Park, and land developers. The first part of the fifth and final season premiered on November 13, 2022, with the second part scheduled to premiere on November 10, 2024. Composer Brian Tyler, who once worked and performed in a Native American musical group, said he worked hard to blend his knowledge of traditional Native American music with the melting pot of western cultures in his score. “What I ended up doing was finding ways to incorporate some of the percussion, some of the woodwinds, some of the instrumentation and weave it into things like cellos, basses, cimbaloms and all these exotic instruments,” Tyler said. Alle 10 Songs sind vom selben Gefühl des Loslassens durchdrungen. Aufgenommen wurden in Studios
in seiner Heimat Belgien und seinem neuen Zuhause in den USA, gemeinschaftlich mit seinem langjährigen musikalischen Wegbegleiter PJ Maertens. „Every Dawn’s A Mountain“ bildet eine Brücke zwischen
Taminos eigener musikalischen Sozialisierung und zeitgenössischen Einflüssen, dessen Songwriting vor allem
seinen transzendentalen Gesang in den Vordergrund stellt. Ein besonderes Highlight des Albums bildet der
Track „Sanctuary“, ein gemeinsames Stück mit Mitski.

Das Londoner Ska-Punk-Pop-Indie-Quartett Buster Shuffle kommt mit brandneuem Album zurück, welches am 21. März 2025 erscheinen wird. Das elf Tracks umfassende Album "Together" ist ihr sechstes Studioalbum und verspricht, ihr bisher größtes zu werden, randvoll mit eingängigen Singalongs die garantiert für Aufsehen sorgen und Mitsingen animieren. Die Jungs veröffentlichen "Together" auf ihrem eigenen Label Do Nothing Records, und wie ihre vorherige Veröffentlichung "Go Steady" wurde auch diese von der Band selbst produziert. Zur Feier der Veröffentlichung dieses "We're In This Together"-Albums wird die Band vier große Städte mit vier Album Launch Shows bespielen, die ihre bisher größten Shows im jeweiligen Land sein werden. Hailing from Tokyo, Satoshi Tomiie emerged in the New York scene after Frankie Knuckles discovered him and his debut record, 'Tears' in 1989, was co-produced with Knuckles and featured Robert Owens. It is a dance music classic and as part of Def Mix Productions with David Morales, Satoshi crafted iconic 1990s remixes for artists like Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Inner City. Here collaborating with Ibiza's Tuccillo, Satoshi created 'Delta Dubs', a live, one-take dub house project recorded on a Soundcraft Delta desk. This tribute to dub's pioneers reimagines the essence of dub with a futuristic twist that lands courtesy of 20/20 Vision.

A regular of Australia’s thriving musical circuit, Kane Dignum aka Little Fritter makes his debut on Hot Creations with Dub Riddem. The EP continues an impressive 2020, that has seen the Gold Coast native’s standout productions land on the likes of Desert Hearts and etcetc already this year.

Those aforementioned features are present right from the offset, as Dub Riddem leads proceedings. A reverberating vocal keeps us hooked, before hard-hitting drums combine with a shimmering cow-bell lead to form a real dancefloor weapon. Puff Puff comes next, with prominent kicks giving way to a chuggy, up-and-down bassline, whilst lyrical samples echo in the background to create a choppy, groove-lead atmosphere. How Lucky Should We Feel? rounds things off in a similarly club-ready vein, merging resonant vocal cuts with punchy drum patterns and bringing shimmering hi-hats in tow.

Little Fritter has been a regular on the electronic music circuit for more than a decade. Having had his first release back in 2008, few artists have stayed as relevant and cutting-edge as the Gold Coast mainstay. Performances at Berlin’s Club De Visionaire and Barcelona’s Off-Sonar cemented his reputation as a respected prospect in the scene.

Dance Mutha Records continues with I Wanna B House, recorded between 88-91 by the Chicago master Mike Dunn. I Wanna B House comes with an edit from Johnny Aux (one half of Paranoid London) and another straight up acid track I'm The Houze.

Now on album number seven , Metronomy has continued where many of their 2000s ‘cool’ band peers have dropped off along the way. Small World is a return to simple pleasures, nature, an embracing in part of more pared down, songwriterly sonics (some moments wouldn’t sound amiss on a Wilco release), all while asking broader existential questions: which feels at least somewhat rooted in the period of time during which it was made – 2020. For all that Mount seems to think he has made a comparatively sombre record, much of Small World still pulses with the zesty, tongue-in-cheek joie de vivre you’d expect of a Metronomy record.

So sure, things are different now Joe Mount is getting older and what’s on his mind is changing, but that doesn’t mark a change in quality for Metronomy. An immaculate set of tracks, Joe Mount’s ability as a songwriter and arranger shines through on Small World, evergreen. Metronomy might be growing up, but they’re not afraid to still have fun with it all. Through the tumultuous ebb and flow of the years, Metronomy continues to endure and make great pop music – and, really, that’s all that we could ask for.

After a 5 years break, there are finally all new songs from ECHO WEST. On their 9th album they present 10 analog Minimal Wave / Electro tracks (incl. one bonustrack) in the style of early minimal electro heroes. During the creation of these songs, analog equipment was used consciously, in order to do justice to the spirit and feeling of their EBM idols THE KLINIK, VOMITO NEGRO and especially DAF.

Also wird zum Aufwärmen mit „5, 6, 7, 8 – Bullenstaat“ erstmal eine Ultra-Deutschpunk-EP eingespielt. Die Entstehung des neuen Albumtitels ist zwar beschreib- aber nicht erklärbar. Und: Plüsch. Unter der flauschigen Hülle entpuppt sich „Runter mit den Spendierhosen, Unsichtbarer!“ als Füllhorn von Hits, die nahezu alle noch ein knappes Vierteljahrhundert später einen festen Platz im nicht gerade schmalbrüstigen Klassiker-Kanon der Besten Band der Welt innehaben und dabei dem Zeitgeist weit voraus eilen. Denn die ärzte sind – Überraschung! – vor allem bei einem Thema außerordentlich divers aufgestellt: Geschlechtsverkehr. Den gibt es in allen erdenklichen Spielarten, inklusive mehr oder weniger geläufiger Probleme, die den Spaß zwischen Männern, Frauen und allem dazwischen leider zu oft verkomplizieren. „Du nervst noch mehr als Yoko Ono“ ist nicht nur längst Alltagssprache sondern landet für das kurze, aber schmerzvolle Video sogar im Guinness-Buch der Rekorde. „Manchmal haben Frauen“ wächst sich ob des handfesten Themas fast zu einem mittleren Skandal aus, wird dann – dank des noch handfesteren Videos – zum Radiohit und zeigt letztendlich eine Option zur feministischen Selbstermächtigung auf. „Rock Rendezvous“ ist überaus F-Wort-intensiv und hemmungslos lustig. Aber auch sonst sind BelaFarinRod äußerst gut aufgelegt, reimen sich selbst für ihre Maßstäbe extensiv um Kopf und Kragen und sind außerdem noch total Rock.

The second volume of Roundabout Sounds' 'All Hands' is another brilliant house collection. Arguably one of the Peckham's best known is Wbeeza, who kicks off with the grading mechanical house of 'FLIP SHxT' which brings to mind the best of Omar S. Demetrio Giannice keeps it deep and swaggering with his stripped back but enticing 'Talk', while Joe Babylon layers up lovely synth chords and organic beats on 'Adepsis'. The ultra mysterious Unknown Deetroit shuts down with 'It's Never Over' which is some playful loopy fun.

B. The Magic Word : Marshall Miller: Abracadabra : The new mysterious duo at ON POINT RECORDS have made that Magic flip. Combining Em n’ Steve M for a fun party heater at 112BPM For when you can’t cool down and have to keep spinning round and round.

For his next Token EP, Kr!z delivers squelchy synth sequences over robust kicks, reinforcing his no-nonsense approach to club music. Classic in its conception yet psychotic in effect, Ipso Facto is a record built for powerful sound systems during thenight's most delirious moments.



First impressions are important; the Belgian producer has never been one to waste time, and this record is no exception. What you hear is what you get-an anxiously slithering synth line makes his intentions clear in Defeat the Purpose, driving people to the dancefloor. Dry drum machine work thunders throughout, locking in the Token style with precision. Moving into the next track, 'Chrome Dust' focuses more on the tonal side of things and its irresistible groovemakes it an instant ear catcher. Playful rides and snares shape the progression, with Kr!z swapping percussion elements to keep the movement lively.
The title track is a true hip swinger on the B1 as he reaches in the low end of the synth sequence to establish a very compelling rhythm. Everything in its right place, and not a hair more, the percussion transitions are reminiscent of his 4 channel DJ sets, the energy always being on the move. Equilibrium closes the EP with high energy, opening up filters over a reliably bouncy rhythm. Years of experience behind the decks can be very instructive for a perceptive producer, and Kr!z proves us just that in this track and in the whole EP.
