Beartrax is back on his own taste-making electronic label Melodize with a pair of fantastic new singles that get fine remix treatment by the cult underground figure that is Carl Finlow.

American Beartrax has been experimenting with electronic music for 10 years now, and has built up a fine reputation and discography that often leads to Beatport chart toppers and gets big support from high profile DJs.

Up first is Dream Riff, a low key roller with nice melancholic pads and crisp, crunchy hi hats as well as killer bass. It's a melodic musing that really carries your mind away from this world while keeping your body locked to the drums. Remixing is Carl Finlow, who has been an electro mainstay for decades. His version is haunting and minimal, with spooky bass notes and clacking hits that makes for a deep and atmospheric jam. Repentance closes out with nagging bass and a lead melody that is cautiously optimistic.

This is another classy EP from all involved.

Arkham Audio presents yet another delicious techno EP by renowned French electronic musician Electric Rescue alongside a solid lineup of remixers. 'Dream Warriors' follows on from Electric Rescue's recent album release on none other than John Digweed's Bedrock Records, and comes bearing more of the intoxicating rhythms that we have grown accustomed to and equally as indulging reworks by Denise Rabe, TWR72, and Arkham label head Cri Du Coeur. This record firmly establishes that his hypnotising yet adrenalizing sound is a force to be reckoned with as he unveils a relentless yet minimalistic techno sound that shows inspiration from his friend and mentor Laurent Garnier.
The rave begins with the original mix of 'Dream Warriors', which leads with an infectious beat and hazy serpentine melody that thrusts your mind into a powerful yet entrancing oblivion. Heavy percussions and lively daunting melodies set the tone for rest of the record. Cri Du Coeur's rework of introduces itself with a pommelling baseline, layers of stimulating hi-hats, and transcendental melodies that create the perfect inebriating brew. The Denise Rabe remix spices things up with a mind-numbing visceral baseline and spooky industrial sounds that echo throughout the atmosphere.
Next up is 'Einoeino' which has a playful beat that contrasts with a dark and fuzzy looping melody to create the ultimate heart-racing and thrilling experience for the listener, leaving you to imagine being chased around a haunted circus. The remix of 'Einoeino' by TWR72 delivers his signature sound that encompasses pulsing rhythms, unyielding muffled baselines, and a slightly off-beat groove that concocts the perfect smoky dancefloor track.

The Sweethearts is a project by Tyler Thacker together with Sam Mehran (ex Test Icicles).
Songs were written on a tiny casio between Sam and Zak Mering. Tyler pretty much played all the instruments.

As Tyler explains:
This album was recorded a decade ago underneath a bunkbed in a crowded apartment we shared in Brooklyn. At the time, ‘The Sweethearts’ was just another anonymous moniker among many, intended as a pop-minded musical outlet between primary contributors myself, Zak Mering and Sam Mehran, featuring whatever friends happened to be passing though that day including but not limited to Morgan Whirledge, James Ferraro, Zak Davis, Aaron Frankle, Ian Drennan, Ariel Pink, Ryan Howe.
Like so many of the collaborations from those years, these songs and many more floated to the wayside as we each barreled through various other configurative projects, eventually retired to failing hard drives. But the specter of this specific catalogue always haunted me despite shifting primary focus to painting shortly thereafter. Two years ago in July, the world lost one of its most fearless creators, Sam Mehran , and I lost one of my best friends who oozed melody as effortless as breath.
These songs are letter bombs to adolescence in the information age: reterritorializing the tropes of heteronormative psycho-sexuality proliferated throughout western pop music on top of self-deprecation, heartbreak, disappointment, indulgence, and loss of innocence.
At one point, I caught myself singing harmony to Zak and Sam on a song called ‘Tonight’s the Night’ and it was in that meeting place between the metaphysical and the spirit world, that I finally got to say goodbye to Sam.

The super-producer duo behind the mega-hit “Let’s Go Dancing” makes their return at a time when there is nowhere to go dancing to, and no us to let go dance there.

“Your home is now the club, which makes it my responsibility,” says Tiga, safe inside a thick denim containment suit. “This is not the time for relentless bangers, no matter how amazing they sound when live-streamed by the world’s loneliest DJs. ’This Is a Dream’ is an epic poem, an immunity passport to the boundless dimensions that lay beyond the veil of slow wave sleep. For I am Sleeporus, musical ferryman to the realm of night. My toll is $1.29 on Beatport, and your pillows are my decks, and also the boat. I hope that’s clear."

Immediately contradicting his no-bangers edict, Tiga describes “Crushed by Meditation” as a weirdo freakout soundtrack for washing each grape individually. This scathing commentary on poorly curated self-care employs bizarre bits of tape found in a piece of gear the two purchased before flea markets were against the law.

“Foraging is the future of sampling. But I alone believe that humanity was destined for more than living underground, eating from a can. I only pray to Father Time and Mr. Destiny that we’re not too late."

Ruutu Poiss, the Amsterdam/Tallinn based expert in glistening psychedelic electronics, arrives on the first outing for Wake Dream (A new label run by Amsterdam’s Orpheu The Wizard).

After releasing several 7”s, 12”s and EP’s on Levels, International Major Label, Rets Records and features on various compilations from Fasaan Rec. and Porridge Bullet, Ruutu Poiss lands at Wake Dream to release his first full length album (WADR002), scheduled for late summer 2020.

Leading up to the album, this untitled three tracker gives you a taste of his unique spectrum of kaleidoscopic modular dance music, futuristic synth funk and emotionally charged experimental cuts. These three tracks are not featured on the album and are exclusive only to this pre-release!

M Parent brings us a soundtrack of American dystopia, one that gives a pointed sonic voice to the bubbling frustrations and anxieties of our time. While American politics play out like a circus on the world stage, M Parent responds to the question of what it means to be American through dirty acid riffs
and eerie electro synth stabs. The album opens up with the title track where a deep voice bellows, “The American Dream was a lie,” setting the stage for what comes next. A warped sense of reality bubbles over in Lose Your Mind, as a wailing electric guitar plays a distorted rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. On the track They Gave You What, a glitched out 808 breakbeat unwinds as
psychedelic paranoia sets in over a stiff melodic hook.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, as it wouldn’t be a complete encapsulation of the American dream without a sense of hope. Balancing the LP out are playful tracks and aural details that keep the American tradition of funk alive. Fucked Acid offers a bright acid track with a funky falsetto synth line.
At the album’s cheeky climax, Electric Snake, a reptilian beast is lured out with 808 toms and beat back by unrelenting snare rolls. Maniacal laughter and an acidic bubbly lead race towards the album’s conclusion in the track Get In. The LP finishes with Groovy, an uplifting track that adds a fragile sense
of optimism.

The independent UK label Six Nine Records Ltd, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, proudly presents the third outing on the label for no one less than Randy Hall. The stunning new song “A New Way Of Love” quickly reached the top of several radio charts and is a sure-shot winner with its hard-hitting bassline, infectious melodies and the unmistakable voice of Mr. Hall! Definitely not to be missed as it is a limited UK press with small hole and full colour printed picture cover!

Following on from releases by the likes of Whitesquare, The Cyclist, DJ Octopus and Daniele Baldelli & Dario Piana, Tropical Animals head honcho Ricardo Baez steps up to provide a three track EP of refined, richly textured, deep and brooding cuts.

Undulating synths, introspective chords and a tapestry of rhythms flow from the Florence native, at times moving through the depths of lo-fi, crunching house at others delving into the realms of acid.

The band was formed in 1983 by Andrew Innes, who had previously played guitar for Alan McGee’s band The Laughing Apple, and also contributed to McGee’s later band, Biff Bang Pow!
The band also featured Innes’s girlfriend Christine Wanless on vocals, Ken Popple (also of Biff bang Pow!) on drums, and part-time contributions on guitar from Alan McGee

Singing bowls, bronze bells and gongs resonate through the mindful layers of Japanese percussionist and ambient producer Kazuya Nagaya's music. In Zen Buddhism, bells are believed to wash away the cares of the mortal world, as the listener follows the resonance of the bell into the silence and stillness within all beings. It is a penetration into the depths of one's self.
Nagaya's music is rooted in Buddhist (Zenzhu) philosophy and sensibilities unique to Japan. Concurrently, his work and interests are also contemporary and traverse a broad spectrum of cultures.

"Dream Rooms", das neue Release des geheimnisvollen italienischen Projekts Ambienti Coassiali, knüpft als organische Weiterentwicklung nahtlos an die surrealen Synthesizer-Oden an, die das Projekt in den späten 1980er-Jahren veröffentlichte und die sich seitdem zu Kult-Favoriten entwickelt haben, von denen man Liebhaber in leiser Ehrfurcht sprechen hört. Die zwei Seiten von "Dream Rooms" sind ein mitreißendes Hörerlebnis: Eine Atmosphäre, kalt, aber nicht dunkel, wie ein kalter Morgen in den Tälern. The time of superficiality is over, we need another perspec- tive. The Tableau Vivant, that reenactment of painting by people, offers a new way of looking at things. A look into the depths, into the innermost of the artwork, a liveliness that jumps right out of the picture. Tableau, the project of the Kame House founder Infuso Giallo and Berlin musician Joshua Gottmanns, dedicates its debut »Double Dream Hands« to a new liveliness. While Infuso Giallo delivered a new interpretation of Moog-Exotica with his first release »Ode to Sansevieria«, Joshua Gottmanns is an »old hand« in the business and has proven his songwriting qualities in different projects for more than ten years, most recent- ly in his project Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge together with Niklas Wandt. But it’s not about the merits of past records, but the here and now, about the moment. This may have passed in the next second and at the same time lasting an eternity. In four live sessions (the term »Jams« may also be applicable), quite independent entities have emerged that embrace life and come into contact with themselves: Within You, Without You. The congenial pairing of these two new masters of (almost) instrumental songwriting features excursions into New Beat and Percussive Exotica as well as Austro-Wave and Electronica and is promising a playful mix of travels at the edge of stasis with a peculiar musical drawl and abrupt, danceable explosions of ecstasy.

Ok, this one is different from the usual standard of re-edits releases on GAMM.

Swedish duo Pomona Dream from Gothenburg is no re-edit outfit but an official artist. The main track 'Blame It On the Groove' is a vocal rare groove jam which is based on Aged In Harmony's highly sought after 'You're A Melody'.

Together with catchy soul/pop vocals from Pomona Dream and tasteful additional production this simply just works...yup it's that good.

To make the case even stronger Pomona Dream got an extra treat on the B-side. 'San Francisco' got an uptempo electronic / hip hop feel that is very modern yet very timeless with its simplistic vocals and synth(ish) melodies.

It's basically a solid song with an edgy production. All in all, this a real nice 7" inch with lots of character. Check check!

ANAMAI is the experimental folk project of Anna Mayberry and David Psutka - soft sounds to dent skin and flesh. The music is naked and exquisitely personal, threatening banality, but mainly an embrace of the commune. Dramatic and confidential anthems of divine insignificance. Across three studio albums the project has explored the nature of intimacy with tiny confessions released into vast lakes of sound. Simple songs punctuated by clusters of detail. The project is built on contradictions: traditional yet modern; miniscule yet infinite; proud but deflated. Something for everyone and nothing to no one. A search for peace?
ANAMAI will release their third album, Dream Baby, on Halocline Trance this fall. Listeners will hear residue from Psutka and Mayberry’s other projects - the scratchy expression of HSY + the functionality of EGYPTRIXX + the baroque digitalia of ACT! but ultimately the record breaks new ground in a long-running series of collaborations.

Dream Ticket is back with a barrage of sonic bliss from SHUT boss Ryan James Ford. His is a futuristic vocabulary transmitted from a quarter century ago and decoded tomorrow: incunabulated ambience, aphextual textures, reflectivised rhythms. This EP is for anyone whose heart is in the techno, IDM, jungle & environs of the early-to-mid-90s, but whose feet are planted firmly in the here and now, most likely in the middle of a fearless dancefloor. Rave on.

Hailing from Cardiff, Elmono has previously released on Cold Recordings, launching the label with it’s first release and following up with a twisted take on Swamp 81 style UK bass 4/4 music. His debut on Tectonic shows off a different flavour altogether, combining all the classic elements of old school UK rave music - and giving them a fresh twist. Tempos run around 128-130bpm while the mood captures the essence of 92-94, as hardcore mutated into jungle.

We kick off with ‘Cooper’s Dream’ which filters upward from a muted position, dropping into a jungle-tech format, building up to a strange melodic bass line as we are taken further and further into the void of Cooper’s hallucinogenic dream space!

‘For The Future’ begins with a short, gentle intro before dropping wildly out of the blue into a tearing bass drop that will rip apart the walls of any dance. Harking back to the old school ways, the track develops with sample snippets and ‘ardcore synth stabs.

Flip then for ‘Endorfiend’ which runs with the theme of jungle/hardcore ingredients, reworked for 2019. Swooping bass hits and melodic chimes leave one foot in 1992 and the other in the here and now.

‘Shermi Paradox’ closes up the EP with splashing drum breaks, dissonant chords and synths, spinning acid like elements alongside Detroit-esque bass patterns.

Recorded in 1972 at the legendary Landsdowne Studios in London, Cosmic Eye is an extraordinary piece of recorded music. Led by Indian born guitarist Amancio D'Silva, Cosmic Eye was a highly innovative studio experiment in which 'Jazz Meets World'. Following in the footsteps of other pioneering Landsdowne jazz recordings such as Joe Harriott & John Mayer's Indo Jazz sessions, Cosmic Eye is modal, but is also under-pinned with traditional Indian instrumentation and structure, resulting in a hypnotic, psychedelic jazz excursion.
Constructed into two conceptual pieces (Dream Sequences), two side-long jazz ragas showcasing D'Silva's soulful guitar playing reminiscent of his earlier 60s sessions, Hum Dono and Integrations, as well as his session work for the Bollywood film industry under the musical directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Featuring a host of UK and Indian musicians, Cosmic Eye is a Singular recording from a fervently rich period of British modern jazz. Finally this phenomenal jazz recording sees a legitimate reissue.

London's Axe On Wax crew have proven themselves to be highly dependable purveyors of good vibes.
