Butch’s unmistakable music has always worn the influence of disco proudly on its sleeve. Both his mega-hit No Worries and his first contribution to the Running Back catalogue, Desire, are essentially modern-day disco records. The same goes for his return to the label with Glory Night—perhaps even more so, thanks to its vintage engineering and authentic aural treatment. Equipped with the genre’s signature sounds and arranged like a lost disco edit from the late ’70s, Butch applies the lotions and potions that today’s dancers demand, creating one of those peak-time sensations that make him unique—complete with confetti, a firecracker breakdown on top, and an extra rhythm section bonus tool included. Just Chill and Just Fly continue that narrative. While the first appeals to fans of R&B or funk samples (though no recordings were harmed in the process), it is catchy as hell and creates an inescapable maelstrom. The second, meanwhile, draws on the principles of deep house and exercises itself in contemplation. Be that as it may, here are a couple of tracks that work on almost any floor and at any time. Or, to quote Giorgio Moroder: “Disco is music for dancing, and people will always want to dance.”

A photo in Rodney Stepp’s scrapbook sums this period in his life in music. It’s 1974, The Spinners were headliners at the “Zaire 74” music festival, a sideshow to Muhammad Ali’s fabled “Rumble in the Jungle” fight with George Foreman. Among the faded snapshots, there’s a picture of Stepp backstage posing arm in arm with Ali; another image shows The Greatest seated at Stepp’s Fender Rhodes alongside vocalist Etta James. It was all a dream for this Naptown wunderkind, who had previously recorded for Herb Miller’s LAMP Records as the Diplomatics and had issued the sweet soul killer “Young Girl” as Jazzie Cazzie and the Eight Sounds on a rare Knaptown 45. (These recordings have been documented on the Now-Again LAMP anthology and our Loving On The Flipside compilation.) But as exciting as his rise out of those local status was, as exciting as it was to headline festivals and arenas and appear on late night talk shows, Stepp grew restless with the mechanical routine of being a sideman. He grew tired of playing the same charts night after night. He was hungry for a creative outlet that mimicked his earliest days in recorded music. So, in 1978, Stepp left The Spinners and returned to Indianapolis, where he established an all-stargroup of musicians–including members of Jazzie Cazzie and the fabled Amnesty–and he named the band Rapture. They inspired countless others. They recorded an album’s worth of material. Now-Again’s Egon first got tapes from Stepp in 2002 and dutifully transferred them, but the time was not right for a foray into this wealth of material. Come 2025, and this is the first time it Rapture’s music is seeing the light of day, a triumphant, late career moment for Stepp and a cause for celebration of those intrigued by deep, sweet soul and disco funk

Released in 1996 at the height of Britpop’s cultural takeover, Free Peace Sweet saw Dodgy break into the mainstream with a sun-drenched sound that set them apart from their more angst-ridden peers. Bursting with optimism, melody, and a touch of psychedelic sparkle, the album became the band’s biggest commercial success. Its lead single, "Good Enough", was a bona fide anthem, climbing to No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart—Dodgy’s highest-charting track to date. Follow-ups "In a Room" and "If You're Thinking of Me" also struck a chord with listeners, hitting No. 12 and No. 11, respectively. Even "Found You", the album’s final single, secured a strong No. 19 spot, solidifying the band’s chart credentials. Free Peace Sweet reached No. 7 at the UK Albums Chart and later achieved certified platinum. Dodgy's Free Peace Sweet includes a 4-page booklet.

Lights… Camera… Revolution is the fourth studio album from Venice Beach, L.A. heavyweights Suicidal Tendencies. Suicidal’s flirtation with the mainstream (complete with obligatory criticism of ‘selling-out’) went Gold in the US with over half a million copies sold, and to this day remains an essential record in any Metal or Punk collection. It is an excellent record for fans of Anthrax, Metallica, Biohazard and Black Flag. SEOUL, 9. November 2015 – Am Freitagmorgen stürmten Käufer in ganz Südkorea in die Plattenläden, um
das Debüt-Livealbum des nur 17 Tage zuvor preisgekrönten jungen Pianisten Seong-Jin Cho bei Deutsche
Grammophon zu kaufen. Die Geschäfte öffneten an diesem Tag früher, um der Nachfrage gerecht zu
werden, und nationale Fernsehteams filmten die beispiellosen Szenen.
Zehn Jahre später ist Cho ein Weltstar, der die großen Konzerthäuser rund um den Globus ausverkauft.
Doch sein Chopin Piano Competition Winners Album, mit dem der junge Koreaner über Nacht berühmt
wurde, gab es auf Vinyl bislang nur in Korea, und wurde dort nach dem ursprünglichen Release zum
gefragten Sammlerstück.
Zum zehnjährigen Jubiläum seines Sieges beim Chopin Klavierwettbewerb veröffentlicht Deutsche Grammophon nun erstmals eine internationale Version der LP, mit einem neuen audiophilen Half-Speed Master
aus den Emil Berliner Studios und einem neuem Artwork mit großer DG-Kartusche.

Frank Sinatra gilt als erster und ohne Zweifel größter Pop-Star aller Zeiten. Daran, dass er auch eine
Jazzgröße war, erinnert diese Doppel-LP mit zwei großen Kollegen. Sie enthält seine Zusammenarbeit mit
zwei Giganten des Jazz auf den inzwischen legendären Alben “It Might As Well Be Swing“ mit Count Basie
und ”Francis A. & Edward K.“ mit Duke Ellington.
Diese beiden Jazz-Höhepunkte Frank Sinatras Karriere erscheinen hier erstmals zusammen als hochwertige Doppel-LP, neu remastert von den Archivbändern und in einer attraktiven Gatefold-Hülle, die seltene
Fotos und die damalige Grafik der Originalhüllen beinhaltet.
Das erste der beiden Alben, ”It Might As Well Be Swing“, erschien erstmals im August 1964. Sinatra
sang darauf zum zweiten Mal nach dem Hit-Album ”Sinatra-Basie“ (1962) zehn Stücke begleitet von Basie
und seinem Orchester. Es war Sinatras erstes von Quincy Jones, einem weiteren Jazz-Giganten, arrangiertes
Studioalbum. 1968 erschien das Album ”Francis A. & Edward K.“, das Sinatra erstmals mit Duke Ellington
und seiner Big Band zusammenbrachte. Zu Ellingtons Orchester gehörten damals Jazzlegenden wie Johnny
Hodges, Cootie Williams, Cat Anderson und Paul Gonsalves. Billy May, der langjährige Arrangeur von
Sinatra, orchestrierte das Album.

”Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” ist der Soundtrack zum letzten Film der Downton Abbey Serie. Die
Musik wurde erneut vom mehrfach ausgezeichneten Komponisten John Lunn geschrieben, der für seine
bisherige Musik für die Downton Abbey Serie bereits 2 Primetime Emmys erhalten hat.
Der Film begleitet die Familie Crawley in den 1930er Jahren. Die beliebten Charaktere suchen nach
neuen Wegen, um Downton Abbey in den turbulenten Zeiten in die Zukunft zu führen und stoßen dabei
auf allerlei Hindernisse.

Vor nun mittlerweile zehn Jahren kehrte Sarah Connor zurück aus ihrer fünfjährigen Pause, in der sie sich
ihrer Familie und sich selbst widmete, und brach mit ihrem Comeback-Album „Muttersprache“ alle ihrer,
bis dahin aufgestellten Rekorde. Das Album stieg sofort nach Release auf Platz 1 der deutschen Album
Charts ein und hielt sich in diesen über unglaubliche 149 Wochen.

Das zweite Album ”Bridging The Gap” der Black Eyed Peas mit den Singles „Weekends“, „BEP Empire
und „Request + Line“ ist jetzt als schwarze 2LP-Vinyl erhältlich.

Aus der Grunge-Ära stammt das wegweisende Album „Apple“ der Band Mother Love Bone aus Seattle.
Zwei ihrer ursprünglichen Mitglieder, Jeff Ament und Stone Gossard, gründeten später Pearl Jam, doch
alles begann mit dieser Band um Andrew Wood. Zum ersten Mal seit der Veröffentlichung im Jahr 1990 ist
das Album nun remastert auf habanero-farbigem und schwarzem Vinyl erhältlich. Mit den darauf enthaltenen Singles „Stardog Champion” und „This Is Shangrila” erscheint das Album am 26. September als 1LP.

Am 26. 9. 2005 erschien mit Fortschritt unser siebtes deutschsprachiges Album auf unserem bandeigenen Label Dritte Wahl Records. Zu hören gibt es 13 neue Songs, eine Coverversion des Rote Gitarren Hits Weißes Boot und eine plattdeutsche Fassung von Hoch im Norden. Musikalisch und textlich geht es quer durch den Gemüsegarten: Da gibt es schnelle, harte, politische Stücke, groovige Songs mit Geschichten aus dem Leben, Reggae-Beats bis hin zum vollakustischen Lied Auf der Flucht in dem es um Abschied, Hoffnung und natürlich auch um Busch"n (Bassisten und Gründungsmitglied von DRITTE WAHL) geht, der im Januar des Jahres 2005 nach schwerer Krankheit verstorben ist. Unterstützt wurden wir bei den Aufnahmen durch Kollegen von Corvus Corax, den Crushing Caspars, Daily Terror, Final Virus, Freygang, Höart! Höart! Höart!, Lady Godiva, Mainpoint und Tanzwut. Zwanzig Jahre später erscheint nun eine Jubiläumsausgabe des Albums auf Kassette.

"Later Than You Think" erscheint bei seinem neuen Label YOUNG und beschäftigt sich mit Themen wie Trauer, Gerechtigkeit, Wiedergeburt, Transformation und spirituellem Kampf. Es ist ein Werk von Bekenntnis und Konfrontation, für das sich Affekt, Intellekt und Geist auf der Suche nach dem Schönen, der Wahrheit und dem Realen zusammenschließen. Entstanden ist das Album in den Ozarks von Missouri. Die 16 Tracks vereinen Elemente und Gegensätze wie Üppigkeit und rohe Reduziertheit, das Heilige und das Profane, minimalistische Disziplin und maximale Schwelgerei, Kontrapunkt und simple Popharmonien. Im Kern unterstreicht das Album aber vor allem Maus" Hingabe an radikale Aufrichtigkeit und emotionale Wahrhaftigkeit in einem Zeitalter der Entfremdung - angetrieben von Konfrontation, Glauben und der tiefen Überzeugung, dass Sinn und Bedeutung noch immer etwas meinen. Maus, der einen Abschluss in Experimental Music und einen Doktortitel in Politikwissenschaft hat, wurde für die Art und Weise, auf die er akademische Sorgfalt und Lo-Fi Synthpop-Ästhetik verbindet, mal als "philosopher pop star" mal als "analog futurist" bezeichnet. Mit exzessiven Liveshows und seinen bislang erschienenen Alben, auf denen Ironie, Trauer, Freude und Absurdität stets dicht beieinander liegen, hat Maus einen einzigartigen Weg beschritten und sich eine ergebene Fanbase erspielt.

Giggs und XL Recordings kündigen zum 15-jährigen Jubiläum eine Neuauflage seines einflussreichen zweiten Albums Let Em Ave It an - erstmals auf Vinyl erhältlich. Das ursprünglich am 21. Juni 2010 veröffentlichte Album markierte Giggs" großen Durchbruch und gilt als wegweisend für die britische Rap-Szene. Mit seinem tiefen Flow, roher Ehrlichkeit und Tracks wie "Look What the Cat Dragged In", "Hustle On" und ""Matic" setzte Giggs neue Maßstäbe für UK-Rap. Kritiker lobten das Werk als realitätsnah und stilprägend. Seitdem entwickelte sich Giggs zu einer Schlüsselfigur der britischen Musik mit erfolgreichen Folgealben wie Landlord, Wamp 2 Dem und Zero Tolerance, sowie Kollaborationen mit Stars wie Drake, Stormzy und Ed Sheeran. The title of Tom Skinner"s first release (2022) under his own name is a reference to cellist Abdul Wadud"s ultra-rare 1978 solo album By Myself, which Skinner listened to repeatedly during lockdown. Wadud"s album was privately pressed on his own label, Bisharra, and whilst Skinner"s title uses the more conventional spelling of this common Arabic name, they both have the same intention or meaning: it translates as "good news", or "the bringer of good news". The result is a tight, hypnotic and unique 31-minutes of music. Voices of Bishara is sculpted around timeless and deeply emotional music that contains masses of movement and exceptional harmonic depth and texture. It sweeps and soars through soundworlds, rich in musicality and always anchored by the deep doubling of cello and bass. It also, of course, contains Skinner"s percussive magic.

"Alternative rock band Kanadia have announced their third album The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home for release on September 26th.

The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home has been recorded at Evolution Recording Studios in their Oxford hometown, produced by Willie J. Healey guitarist Chris Barker and mixed by Tom Leach (Lewis Capaldi, Pa Salieu, Spiritualized) at Snap Studios, London. Kanadia have recently treated audiences to songs from the forthcoming album live on their recent UK tour with Black Foxxes. They now have a hometown album launch show announced at O2 Academy Oxford on September 5th with more live dates to follow soon"

"Recorded in 1959, Gerry Mulligan Meets Johnny Hodges is heralded as one of the best of Mulligan’s recorded pairings with fellow instrumentalists. On this date, the two saxophonists are joined by a solid rhythm section of Claude Williamson (piano), Buddy Clark (bass) and Mel Lewis (drums), splitting the repertoire across three originals each from Mulligan and Hodges. The two complement the other throughout with the exception of Mulligan’s ‘What’s the Rush’, where the baritonist sits out altogether in favour of Hodges’ alto taking the spotlight.
Verve’s Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging."

The latest release from Berlin-based label PÚCA sounds is a double side fully equipped for the dancefloor, leaving room to explore across both tracks. Cola Ren’s remix of title track King Puck comes smooth and dubby into the chug, swelling with harmony between original percussions spun with Cola’s unmistakable touch.

Bleating is pushed through a late 90s/00s hall of mirrors, rolling with high energy glimmer in the hands of Tornado Wallace. Some ways towards spacey and ultra-danceable, this is a liquid gem of a B-side made to measure as it complements both tracks.

Crystal Clear Vinyl, limited to 1000 copies. Who were the first punks? Do The Damned have more of a shout than The Sex Pistols? The Stooges or Ramones? Gregg Deal, the acclaimed visual and performance artist behind his new project Dead Pioneers, is making a claim that Indigenous Americans were the first real punks. Deal suggests that the overarching theme of the album is "an introduction to the band itself". Created with a DIY disposition and the "love of a scene that saves lives", they reel off a roll call of marginalised groups and protected characteristics: "Indigenous rights, Black rights, Brown rights, Asian rights, Gay rights, Trans rights, Workers rights and beyond_". This is central to their identity and focus, saying that "with a North American Indigenous person as the vocalist, being unapologetically upfront on the social, political and cultural side of things doesn't seem necessary, but paramount to the overall tone of the band." This self-titled debut, coming in at a lithe 22 minutes with only one of the twelve tracks exceeding three minutes, is almost over before it begins, but covers a huge amount of ground in that time. Blistering opener 'Tired' sets out their stall; as with the whole album, it is passionate, but never preaching. Capitalised 'Political Music' can be hard to land without coming across as hectoring or earnest, but Deal's literary, humorous lyrics effortlessly cut through complex issues of marginalisation and colonialism.

Mit "Fallen und Schweben" veröffentlicht Rauchen ihr bisher zugänglichstes und zugleich reifstes Album. Die Hamburger Band bleibt ihrem wütenden Kern treu, öffnet ihren Sound aber erstmals spürbar, ohne sich dabei anzubiedern. Zwischen flirrenden Gitarren, schepperndem Schlagzeug und einer Stimme, die immer noch mehr fragt als antwortet, sickert eine neue Form von Melancholie durch: eine, die nicht nur gegen, sondern auch für etwas kämpft. Stilistisch knüpft das Album an die rohen 90er an. Irgendwo zwischen Emocore, Noise und frühem Post-Hardcore, ohne in Nostalgie zu verfallen. Besonders der titelgebende Schlusstrack "FALLEN UND SCHWEBEN" markiert einen Wendepunkt: versöhnlich, fast zärtlich, und doch eindeutig Rauchen. Das Artwork stammt von André Finster, dessen reduzierte Bildsprache das Spannungsverhältnis des Albums visuell spiegelt. Zwischen Aufbruch und Absturz, Härte und Hingabe. "Fallen und Schweben" ist ein Album für alle, die im Lärm Trost suchen und in der Stille das Echo ihrer Wut.
