Das zweite Werk eines Künstlers hat in der öffentlichen Kritik meist einen besonders schweren Stand. Die
Vorschusslorbeeren, die beim Debüt noch großzügig verteilt werden, sind schnell aufgebraucht. So erging
es auch der zweiten Fehlfarben-LP bei ihrer Veröffentlichung im Herbst 1981. Zu sehr wurde „33 Tage in
Ketten“ an dem Überalbum „Monarchie und Alltag“ gemessen.
Bei „33 Tage in Ketten“ war der charismatische Shouter Peter Hein nicht mehr dabei. Kurz vor einer
geplanten Deutschlandtour im Frühjahr 1981 hatte er der Band den Rücken gekehrt, weil er mit dem Erfolgsdruck nicht fertig wurde. Gitarrist Thomas Schwebel, der bei „Monarchie und Alltag“ noch die Texte mit
Peter Hein zusammen schrieb, übernahm schließlich das schwere Amt des Frontmanns. Das im Sommer
1981 in den Kölner EMI-Studios eingespielte Album ist wesentlich härter und aufwühlender als „Monarchie
und Alltag“. Beim wuchtigen Opener „Tanz mit dem Herzen“ trommelt der 2023 verstorbene Uwe Bauer,
der ohnehin nie ein Freund leiser Töne war, wie ein junger Gott, während Bass (Michael Kemner) und
Gitarre (Uwe Jahnke) marschieren.
Für die strikt limitierte 2LP-Reissue in braunem Vinyl konnte neben raren B-Seiten auch das komplett
unveröffentlichte Stück „Warten auf“ sowie bislang ebenfalls noch nie gehörte Live-Aufnahmen von einem
81er-Gig bei Radio Bremen gesichert werden. Feuilleton-Autor Marc Hairapetian steuert zudem aktualisierte und exklusive Linernotes bei.

Available on CD for the first time ever and on vinyl for the first time in over 10 years, this EP is ready to cement its rightful place in the Christmas canon, and become a tradition for a new generation of fans.

The album is made up of two sessions recorded for BBC Radio 1 at Maida Vale Studios, from 1973 and 1978 that feature vocalist Norma Winstone, trumpeter Henry Lowther, saxophonists Art Themen, Tony Coe and Alan Wakeman, trombonist David Horler, bassists Dave Green and Jeff Clyne, and drummers Trevor Tomkins and John Marshall. The material, all composed by Garrick, includes some favourites from the classic LPs 'Troppo' and 'October Woman'. He wouldn't record the tracks "River Running" and "Galilee" until decades later, so this is the first time these '70s arrangements have been released. Whereas "Robin's Rest" and the title track are exclusive to this album - providing a fascinating insight into this uniquely talented artist.

Garrick was at the forefront of British jazz from the mid-1960s until his death in 2011 aged 78. He was a key member of The Don Rendell / Ian Carr Quintet, composing the jazz gems "Dusk Fire and "Black Marigolds" and released a series of seminal 1960s and 1970s LPs including 'Cold Mountain', 'The Heart is a Lotus' and 'Black Marigolds'. Remastered by Caspar Sutton-Jones @ Gearbox Records, 'Late Autumn Sunshine' is available as a 2LP set housed in a gatefold sleeve (a limited edition of 600 copies) and 'mini-LP' gatefold CD, with sleeve notes by Daniel Spicer (Jazzwise, The Wire). 'Late Autumn Sunshine' celebrates Michael Garrick's memory and should introduce him to many new fans.

With simpatico support from double bassist Drew Gress and drummer Tom Rainey, Hersch presented fresh interpretations of tunes by his favourite jazz composers, which included Miles Davis ('Milestones'), Wayne Shorter ('Iris'), Thelonious Monk ('Played Twice'), Dizzy Gillespie ('Con Alma'), and Herbie Hancock (Speak Like A Child). The album also includes an original number, 'Evanessence,' which Hersch composed as a salute to pianist Bill Evans. The Fred Hersch Trio Plays is a remarkable collection of performances affirming that jazz is about exploration, constant reinvention, and selfless teamwork.

Chris Reifert & Danny Coralles began Abscess after their infamous gore metal band Autopsy disbanded in the mid 90's (before resurrecting in 2009). Chris started his career with the highly influential extreme metal band, Death. The line-up was completed by Clint Bower (Guitar/vocals), with Joe Trevisano joining on bass for the band's later releases. In October 2009, Abscess descended upon the famous Fantasy Studios, CA, to record the follow- up to their 2007 Tyrant Syndicate album, 'Horrorhammer', with engineer Adam Munoz. 'Dawn Of Inhumanity' was released in 2010, leading the listener on an unrivalled nightmare of raw experimental extremity, whilst also including special guest vocal appearances by the Nocturno Culto & Fenriz of Darkthrone. 'Dawn of Inhumanity' was to be the swansong release from Abscess, leaving a legacy of twisted, dirty punk/ death without limits !

This is what you will hear and experience in 'Plural': a deep love for the art of sound and a profound respect for musical diversity - qualities that have defined his career.

Working with elite keys player Ross Stanley (steadily making ripples on the world stage through his work with legends like Maceo Parker, and more recently with Robben Ford), guitarist Nigel Price says: "I've never heard Ross play a bad note, and he absolutely played out of his skin on this record." Joel Barford is one of the most exciting and vibrant young drummers on the scene today. He relishes the space and freedom of the organ trio format, which is totally evident on this new recording.

Six of the nine pieces are original Price compositions, confirming his strength as a writer, especially for this tight, powerful unit. A relaxed recording session brought out the best in these three master musicians, and the result is an exciting collection of captivating music. Nigel Price is acknowledged as one of the foremost UK exponents of jazz guitar. He has played on more than 60 albums including eight as a leader, spent 10 years with acid jazz outfit The Filthy Six, was a member of James Taylor's band, JTQ, for three years (with whom he recorded five albums) and performed with the legendary David Axelrod. Price has worked tirelessly to organise his own tours, with epic tours he's organised for the Nigel Price Organ Trio becoming the stuff of legend.

The iconic voice of Nouvelle Vague for 20 years, Mélanie Pain continues her unique solo career, blendingpop, folk, and intimate poetry.After three albums acclaimed for their delicacy, she returns with How and Why, a luminous and stripped-down fourth opus. Raw folk music centered on acoustic guitar, without artifice-and that unique voice: soft, deep, elegant. Recorded live with her long-time musicians, the album draws inspiration from Kings of Convenience, Iron & Wine, and Emilíana Torrini. Slinging back on the electric guitar, ditching the job, upping the BPMs, and falling in love again has resulted in Pete embracing his fuzzed up dream- pop past but also throwing in elements of pop and electronica.

The first fruits of this new-found labour is a brand new single "LOVE'S COMING BACK" which sums up the ethos for his new project all squeezed into 136 amp-frying seconds. Pete first burst onto the scene in the early 90s as the frontman and guitarist of postshoegaze / pre- Britpop band Adorable, whose 1993 album Against Perfection, released on Creation Records, is regularly referred to as a lost indie classic, with the band picking up multiple 'Single of the Week' awards in the NME, and topping the Indie charts. Noel Gallagher once told Creation Records' Alan McGhee that dropping Adorable from the label was one of his biggest mistakes, whilst other artists such as Ash, Slowdive and Brian Jonestown Massacre amongst others have all expressed their admiration for the band. Following this he joined up with his brother Krzys to form One Little Indian band Polak (Swansongs 2000 / Rubbernecking 2002) which took in influences from the likes of Sparklehorse, Radiohead and dEUS, and led The Independent to call him "the most gifted lyricist since Jarvis Cocker last put pen to paper".

There then followed a musical exile, after having what Pete now describes as 'a musical breakdown' before re-emerging alongside celebrated House of Love guitarist Terry Bickers to release two critically acclaimed albums as Pete Fij / Terry Bickers on 2014's Broken Heart Surgery, and 2017's We Are Millionaires, winning the Roundtable 'Single of The Week' on Steve Lamacq's BBC 6Music show - "Beautiful" (MOJO) "Unfailingly lovely" (UNCUT) "Stunning" (OHM) "Beautifully constructed" (Q). Adorable then reformed for a few weeks in 2019 for a series of one off dates that sold out in record time, playing bigger venues than they did in their heyday - and then broke up again.

Shows zu spieln. Ende '81 gingen sie in ein lokales Tonstudio in Costa Mesa und nahmen an einem Nachmittag neun Songs auf, bis ihnen das Geld ausging - 300 Dollar gut angelegt! Eine Kassette wurde rasch kopiert und herumgereicht. Eine Kopie der Kassette wurde KevinSeconds bei einem Gig mit 7 Seconds in Reno gegeben. Kevin gab sie an Tim Yohannan von Maximum Rocknroll weiter. Schließlich gelangte sie in die Hände von Felix Alanis von Smoke Seven und Greg Shaw von Bomp. Mitte 1982 waren M.I.A. dann auf drei Vinyl-Veröffentlichungen vertreten: "Tell Me Why" auf der Compilation American Youth Report von Bomp, "New Left" auf Maximum Rocknroll Presents: Not So Quiet On the Western Front von Alternative Tentacles und acht der neun Tracks landeten auf der berüchtigten Split-LP mit Last Rites auf Smoke Seven. Alle 9 Tracks des ersten Tapes sind hier versammelt, zum ersten Mal richtig abgemischt. Der Begin von M.I.A. Das schwedische Punkrock-Urgestein SATOR veröffentlicht mit den High (Rock'n) Rollern und Punkrockern THE HEADLINES eine Split EP: Eine längst fällige Herzens- und Freundschaftsangelegenheit! Schließlich war es Sator-Bandgründer Chips Kiesbye, der vor mehr als 15 Jahren das musikalische Potential und die wilde, ungestüme Power von The Headlines erkannte. Es folgten Supportshows und bis heute produziert und supportet Chips die Band im Studio. Die jeweils zwei exklusiven Songs der Bands auf der limitierten 10inch Vinyl spannen dabei den Bogen von Hard Rock, Sleaze, Glam bis straight forward Punkrock. The Headlines kehren mit "Fucked up" zu der klassischen Rock-Essence zurück, rotzig-frech verpackt in 2 Minuten mit allem was es braucht, um eine "fuckin great hymn" zu schreiben! SATOR präsentieren mit "Thanks (For nothing for all) einen vor langer Zeit geschriebenen wütenden Dampfhammer, der als Demo in den Bandarchiven irgendwie in Vergessenheit geriet. Während der Aufnahmen zu "Return of The Barbie-Q-Killers" stoplerte die Band über dieses Juwel und wurde neu aufgenommen. "Wir können uns nicht wirklich erinnern, worüber wir beim Schreiben wütend waren, aber es gibt immer etwas, das einen nervt. Wut ist nie aus der Mode." "I only want a date" wurde ebenfalls im Rahmen der Studio-Sessions für das letzte Sator-Album aufgenommen und ist ein Coversong der US-Band "The Embarrassment", die den gesuchten Song 1984 nur auf Tape veröffentlichten. Die 10inch EP erscheint streng limitiert in klassisch schwarzen oder blauen oder in limitierten zweifarbigen Swirl Vinyl und dürfte sich schnell als Sammlerstück etablieren. When not making zines and visual art, singing for Des Demonas' or drumming AND singing for SEXFACES, Abok's busied himself by bringing this, his most personal and ferousious vision, to (immortal) life with VAMPYRES FROM AFRICA. 11 tracks of electro punk, melding Abok's massive love for the delta blues, post punk, Krautrock and hip hop. Kurt Vile once sang that he had a freeway in mind, but Matt Kivel (Vile’s former Woodsist labelmate) literally has a freeway mind. Kivel grew up in Santa Monica, California, getting shuttled up and down the 10, the 101, PCH, and all the other freeways Angelenos lovingly affix definite articles to. He started out in music as part of the buzzy, Eagle Rock-based indie band Princeton, toured the country relentlessly, burned out, and then resurfaced with a series of bleak, hauntingly spare solo albums that garnered widespread critical acclaim.

Over the ensuing decade, Kivel collaborated closely with a growing set of brilliant, and varied musicians from across the globe, including Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Alasdair Roberts, Madi Diaz, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, Jana Horn, and Satomimagae. He moved to Austin, Texas then left for New York City for a spell and then returned to Austin where he settled down. In 2017, he started writing the songs for what would become his eighth solo album, Escape From L.A. Escape From L.A. is an autobiographical song cycle that chronicles the first thirty-three years of Kivel’s life in the City of Angels. The material was labored over, rewritten, rearranged, and rerecorded numerous times, between LA, New York, and Austin. Kivel self-effacingly refers to it as his “bootleg as hell Blood On The Tracks” with myriad alternate sequences, tempos and arrangements that will never see the light of day. It involved over twenty collaborators, a string section, pedal steel guitars, and a renewed lyrical and vocal clarity that allows the narrative vignettes to unspool in vivid detail. It’s a beautiful, grounded statement and one of Kivel’s best.

Final LP of a productive year for Feral Child is an absolute cracker. The latest of a long line of superb full lengths from Stephen James Buckley's incendiary Polypores project. This one is arguably his most adventurous outing to date, the undeniably psychedelic “Hungry Vortex”. Four extended pieces exploring polyrhythmic fixations and cosmic jazz-prog freak-outs. Percussion-heavy opener ‘The Body Is The Spaceship’ is a fine example of the sort of seamless organic growth we tend to see in Polypores’ music, with slewed synth blips and rolling polyrhythms gradually twisting into unrecognisable strands of melody and unconventional groove before your very ears.

The prog-heavy ‘Wizards!’ sees Buckley’s trademarked playful use of time-signature changes, providing such a wealth of emotional and stylistic variance and immeasurable enjoyment without changing key once (honestly, who needs keys). It’s brilliantly evocative too and could indeed perfectly soundtrack a mushroom-trip wizard march. As we flip the record over, the flutey flourishes and minimalist clicks of the title track draw the listener into a trancelike state, repeated movements spiralling like myriad creatures crawling over a candy-coloured horizon, echoing forth into an inviting sonic oblivion. It’s ostensibly electronic, yet somehow more natural organism than machine, with little concern for the grid, or indeed, the rules. Finally, we end on something a little more subdued - the reassuring classicism of the beautiful ‘Void High’, with washes of warm noise and wobbly delay lines whirring and twinkling away, closing the record with an experience that is undeniably emotional, spiritual and as always, uniquely Polypores. This is a wonderful record with which to close the year out, it comes in a magnificent, spot varnished Jake Blanchard sleeve. A superb record released as a one time only vinyl pressing.
