Red Dwarf Star emerges as a striking new chapter for Coley Taylor of famous US/CH based MASERATI, a new project that captures a deeply personal arc that spans continents, relationships, and creative reinvention. Working largely alone, Taylor embraced a deliberately stripped-down approach, navigating unfamiliar technology with joyously unpolished determination. Much of the material was recorded in a modest, direct manner that prioritizes feeling over finesse. This DIY ethos is balanced by key collaborations that elevate the record's sonic depth. Drums were recorded in Los Angeles by Kellii Scott, whose distinctive style adds weight and clarity, while contributions from Allen Epley and Jenna Fournier introduce subtle vocal textures that expand the emotional range of the songs. Despite its introspective origins, Red Dwarf Star is not intended to remain a solitary endeavor. What began as a personal outlet is evolving into a fully realised band, with a lineup assembled to bring these songs into a more expansive, dynamic setting. This shift signals not only a new phase for the project, but also a broader artistic trajectory. Taylor is known best for his work with Maserati, a legendary outfit that leans into collaborative, rhythm-driven expanses rooted in krautrock and electronic psych. With their ever-mutating brand of jazz-and-country-laced punk, Opus Kink have always cut a singular figure in a saturated landscape. Brighter Discs opens with its first release from label founders Kamma & Masalo. Born out of Brighter Days, the duo’s long running party series since 2014. A colourful get together where generations mix freely, DJ legends share space with new voices, and the dancefloor is treated as common ground. Brighter Discs carries this same spirit into recorded form, a natural continuation following the Brighter Days compilation previously released on Rush Hour.

Brighter Discs starts things off with ‘Can’t Fake The Feeling’, built around the original vocal by Renee Mohannon, taken from the 1989 release produced by house music pioneer Joe Smooth. The vocal is fully cleared and officially licensed, with everything surrounding it newly written and produced, resulting in a club track that honours the emotional core of the original vocal while giving it new space to shine.

The ‘Club Mix’ unfolds with immediate lift, a classic yet upfront house energy carried by Kamma & Masalo’s elevating instrumentation moving in lockstep with Renee Mohannon’s vocal. A pure club track celebrating dance music to the fullest.

On the flip you will find K&M’s ‘Unity Dub’, a darker, percussion driven workout that strips things back and presents the track in a different light. A twilight version that highlights the duo’s versatility and deep dancefloor understanding.

Kamma & Masalo have tested both cuts extensively while touring, from sun soaked festival stages to esoteric club spaces. Each version has been shaped in real rooms and refined on the road, ensuring the tracks are heard in their best possible form.

Big respect to Tieum for such amazing music from that with its awesome programming and production still stand up well today!

Released on Before I Die 03/07/26 on limited Black Vinyl LP with a full colour art book featuring artworks from independent artists from the city.

The band will commence a short UK Tour of Southern & Northern Grassroots venues from the end of August 2026 culminating in a performance at Manchester Psych Fest on Saturday 5th September.

Released in 2014, Buraka is Buraka Som Sistema"s third studio album - and the last before their hiatus. Rooted in the group"s signature fusion of Angolan kuduro and bass music, the record captures the global reach of their sound, documented in Off the Beaten Track: a film following the band through Caracas, Paris, India, London and Luanda, narrated in their own words. This limited colour vinyl edition marks its first ever vinyl pressing, giving full room to the original artwork by Studio Moross.

Released in 2006 as an EP, From Buraka to the World introduced Buraka Som Sistema"s explosive fusion of Angolan kuduro with bass music to the world. Twenty years on, the full album version - expanded in 2007 - gets its first ever vinyl pressing. This limited colour vinyl edition includes "Yah! (feat. Petty)", the breakout hit that set the tone for everything that followed, and "Wawaba (v.1.8)" as the sole version of that track, in place of the two takes that featured on the original release.

L'Oriole is the meeting point between violinist and composer Clara Lévy and sound artist Stéphane Clor. Combining violin, violoncello piccolo and a unique orchestra of resonators and transducers, the duo explores birdsong, resonance and the transformative power of sound. Acoustic instruments are projected into cymbals, drum skins, aluminium cans and other resonant objects, creating rich layers of colour, texture and spatial depth. Inspired by the work of Olivier Messiaen and his fascination with birds, L'Oriole unfolds as a journey through imagined birdsongs, suspended sonic landscapes and raw bursts of acoustic energy.

This live recording was broadcast on French Radio, December 19th, 1984 and features their duet performances of John Coltrane "Naima", Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze", Ornette Coleman "Broadway Blues" amongst others. Student bassists Michel Hatzigeorgiou, Reno Steba, Alan Brennan, and Angel Vicens joined the duo at various times during the performance. 'New World' is the first release from Naarm/ Melbourne based artist Coloursound, a record presenting four unconventional dance floor tracks that bridge future-facing dubstep to warped techno and everything in between. The EP is an expansive sonic landscape woven together by delicate layers of bass wobbles, chugging percussion and spaced out atmospheres. Across the EP, ethereal textures and mutilated vocals lapse between one another, rooted in dub-influenced foundations, but with a futuristic twist. Futurismo are thrilled to present Give Thanks, the long out of press 1984 hardcore classic by Articles Of Faith. Produced by Bob Mould, and newly remastered directly from the original tapes, this powerhouse of a record is now coming on both LP and CD after being unavailable for decades. Originally released in 1984, the debut LP Give Thanks by Chicago hardcore legends Articles Of Faith, is proof a hardcore record can be both political and poetic. Fuelled by rage, introspection and a musical progression that could be seen as a blueprint for what would later become known as post-hardcore, this album ticks every box you want from a record of the era: intense, emotive, scathing, unpredictable, all topped off by the masterful production of Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü/Sugar). Give Thanks is perhaps overlooked in many top ten’s of the genre, but leaving the bands debut LP off that list would be a mistake. A demonstration in raw emotion and political angst, Give Thanks harnesses a sound that could have only happened during the Reagan era. Hardcore was of course a musical explosion built upon aggression and discontent, yet Give Thanks forcefully fuses this concept of raw power with a multitude of musical influences at a time when some of their contemporaries perhaps seemed to tread water. Whilst the principles and sonics harnessed on AOF’s debut album may have had more in common with the sounds coming out of Washington D.C., this record has an authentic Chicago savvy running through it, effortlessly projecting a street level tone whilst simultaneously aiming to show the possibilities of what a hardcore record could be. In retrospect, AOF’s debut was a hardcore album ahead of it’s time, perhaps the reason it’s fervent themes and artistry still feel so fresh and relevant. Whether that’s due to Vic Bondi’s gravelly tones geared to critique the societal regime at play, or the considered guitar work aimed to both blast and texturize, or the intense drums rhythms inspired by jazz and dub, there is a depth to the final album that feels like a band testing their parameters, one listen to ‘Every Man For Himself’ and you know you are listening to something special. Familiarity and originality rarely crossover, but in this case they coexist to leave us with a forward thinking punk record that is more interested in shouting it’s emotions from the street, than it is screaming into a vacuum.

A true American hardcore record, and a must for fans of Minor Threat, Dead Kennedy’s, Bad Brains and Fugazi.

Between her elaborately conceptual Drag City singer-songwriter albums and celebrated soundtracks for Ryusuke Hamaguchi, in recent years Eiko Ishibashi has quietly self-released a significant body of solo and collaborative work on her Bandcamp page. At times resembling her solo live performances in their organic interweaving of instrumental, electronic, and concrete sounds, each of these less feted online releases offers a snapshot of the experiments always underway at Atelier Eiko. Some Fine Legacy is pleased to announce a vinyl edition of one of the most intriguing of these works, Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing, made in collaboration with Hiroshi Minami and first released in 2021.

Active since the 1980s, Hiroshi Minami is a key figure in the Tokyo jazz scene, as well as a respected memoirist. Devoted to the great standards, which he explores with an Evans-ish delicacy of touch and Impressionist harmonic extensions, he is equally at home working up variations on tunes by Ryuichi Sakomoto and The Beatles or experimenting with ambient electronics. A single note from his piano is the first thing we hear on Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing, the space left by its decay unexpectedly filled by a synth arpeggio that quickly fades away as the piano returns with a balladic chord sequence.

Like her frequent collaborator Jim O’Rourke, Ishibashi possesses the virtue of patience, recognising the beauty of lingering at length in a single musical environment. Throughout its 40-minute duration, Gasping_Sighing_Sobbing remains lost in this maze of obstructed and fragmented piano balladry. The musical surface is in one respect placid, but close listening reveals dynamics and processes that are deeply strange: the resonance of a chord dying away is frozen, expanding to become a cloud that suddenly makes way for the piano’s return; or the piano is looped into a ticking glitch or a time-stretched shudder, momentarily sinking under lapping waves, distant bells, and snatches of conversation. Ishibashi’s subtle vocals and synths colour the piano passages like views through distorted glass. The metaphor of cinéma pour l’oreille is perhaps overused in discussions of the musique concrète tradition, but here the visual associations are almost unavoidable: especially when Daisuke Ijichi joins on upright bass, it’s hard to shake the cinematic image of a smoky jazz bar—shown in a sequence, perhaps, that cuts repeatedly to the musicians’ and audience’s thoughts and dreams. Like much of Ishibashi’s work, this collaboration with Hiroshi Minami is inconspicuously radical, shaped at the deepest level by electro-acoustic procedures even as it luxuriates in melancholic beauty.

The album comes at a time when connection is needed more than ever. A generative connector and community leader Allison Russell, alongside production team Dim Star, cast a creative circle of collaborators to bring the songs to life, emerging from honest, raw dialogues between friends, lovers, chosen family, humans. The new record features Norah Jones, Joy Oladokun, Kara Jackson, Denitia, Ruby Amanfu, Devon Gilfillian, Kashus Culpepper, Brittney Spencer, Sara Watkins, Kyshona, Julie Williams, Chibueze Ihuoma and Ahya Simone. Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos, Menagerie, Rare Groove Spectrum) presents his lush Exotica inspired 2016 album on LP for the first time in a limited edition deluxe gatefold sunset swirl coloured vinyl edition, with each pressing having a unique pattern.

'The Double Sunrise' is a re-imagining of Exotica seen through Ferguson’s own lens, which includes Pop and Hip Hop elements plus samplers, synths and drum machines thrown into the mix. That combination of beats and lush cinematics owes as much to Exotica pioneer Martin Denny as it does to Air and DJ Shadow.

Guest vocalists include Melanie Pain (Nouvelle Vague), who brings a sweet Francoise Hardy and Jane Birkin influence to her songs, and Australian singer Meg Washington. As well as her own successful career, Bamboos fans would know Washington from her vocals from “The Wilhelm Scream” and “King Of The Rodeo”, as well as “Beautiful Trash” from the 2011 Lanu album ‘Her 12 Faces’.

Ferguson's own instrumentals are also gems of lush, nostalgic delight.

Some words from Nat about the music – “For this recording I composed some songs using more “exotic” (for want of a better word) modes,
which I have always meant to explore in more depth but never really got around to very much. The first song for instance, Red, Gold & Green, uses an Ethiopian scale.
The title comes from the colours of the Ethiopian flag, which is also symbolic in Rastafari so has a kind of double meaning, like a lot of my songs.The title track, Path of Enlightenment, uses several modes,
starting in a major key then moving to the Phrygian mode, then to a minor key. The piano solo is in a 28 bar minor blues form. Menat is based on a mode of the Byzantine scale,
I’m not sure if it has a particular name or not. Amenhotep was the name of several Egyptian pharaohs,
Amenhotep IV being the original given name of Akhenaten.When I was writing this song it put me in mind of my song, Akhenaten, simply because they are both in 5/4 time,
so I decided to give this one a pharaonic name too. Spheshile is a Zulu word (and sometimes name) that means “beautiful gift”, the title was suggested by a friend from South Africa.
All this means nothing of course if the music doesn’t tell a story, I think the unfamiliar modes allowed us to speak of interesting things that may not have come to us otherwise.
Finally, I chose to use the quartet format for this recording because it occurred to me that it tends to make for a more cohesive group sound, and it had been a while since we recorded this way.”

This EP was inspired by the distinct feeling and atmosphere of each season. The four vinyl colours reflect that same seasonal bloom.

1. Spring (Splash Fluorescent Pink Vinyl)
This song was born during Spring Festival in Guangzhou. To capture the local spirit, I sampled the classic Cantonese opera “The Princess’ Flower” — a touch of tradition. YangBing’s remix then injects vibrant electronic energy, making the track blossom with the renewal of spring.

2. Summer (Splash Blue Vinyl)
I was sitting by the sea in Xiamen, coffee in hand, feeling the sun and ocean breeze wash over me. Right then, it hit me: a jazz-house tune would be the perfect soundtrack to that summer afternoon. This track is that moment, frozen in sound.

3. Autumn (Splash Yellow Vinyl)
For me, autumn is a bridge to winter — a time for natural soundscapes. You’ll hear birds, evocative chimes, and traditional Chinese textures like the Jiangnan pipa and urgent gong rhythms. Part of this song was inspired by Yangshuo, where mountains and water truly embody the season’s essence. It’s where East meets West, sparking something special.

4. Winter (Splash Pure White Vinyl)
A downtempo rhythm to ease busy minds. Winter’s morning light enters on the lingering birdsongs of autumn, followed by subtle holiday warmth and the quiet feeling of falling snow. To me, winter is a season of gathering — of holidays, family and friends.

She’s been building a reputation as one to watch, with two standout releases on Hopestreet Recordings, Domino EP in 2023 and Ripple On The Wing LP in 2024, alongside a heavy touring schedule and a stacked list of support slots and collaborations.

For this new 7” single, Ella collaborates with a selection of artists at the forefront of Naarm/Melbourne’s soulful DIY community. Featuring members of Surprise Chef and Karate Boogaloo, Liam McGorry from Temporary Blessings (College Of Knowledge) joins Ella as co-writer and co-producer, with go-to Melbourne engineer Henry Jenkins also producing and recording the track.

Bridging the worlds of classic and contemporary soul, Ella’s songwriting is drenched in emotion and personal experience. With a timeless feel that is hard to tie to any particular period, she has crafted a sound that instantly hits deep. It’s warm, tasteful and distinctly Ella. That talent has also seen her tour with Mark Ronson, and support other contemporary greats like Jalen Ngonda, Lee Fields, and Thee Sacred Souls.

‘Promise To Keep’ is the first taste of Ella’s new material on this 7” single. An irrepressible upbeat groover that echoes mid-to-late-sixties vocal groups. That influence though never overpowers Ella’s own unique creative voice or distinct sense of self. She draws from it, but the colour is all her own. The song tells a story of being carried by the current that keeps us moving, giving us courage. A commitment to oneself that speaks to action shaped by vision, and the pull of following what feels correct even when the distance is far.

The flip side finds Ella in a different mood. ‘Change Of Heart’ is a heavy sweet-soul ballad. Rich in drama, Ella’s falsetto vocals build to a stunning climax in the final section, with triumphant horns that signal the release of letting go. The lyrics reflect on temporality and impermanence, and the way moments can be missed or arrive with synchronicity. It’s that bittersweet paradox of triumph and sadness, where everything contains its opposite: absence and presence, innocence and experience. The song is underpinned by a brooding production quality and atmospheric, beat-heavy flavour that Surprise Chef and cinematic soul fans will relish.

Archival release from Lagoss, the collaborative project between Discrepant founder Gonçalo F. Cardoso (Gonzo, Visions Congo, Papillon, Prophetas) and Tenerife-based electronic producers Tupperwear (Mladen Kurajica and Dani Tupper).

Tenerife Ghost Healing Mix ’78 draws on material originally recorded in 2020, these recordings capture an early phase of Lagoss’ sound: a humid, proto-cyber tropical zone where synthetic textures, degraded rhythms and softened melodic fragments drift into each other. Rather than foregrounding narrative or structure, the material leans into ambient saturation — layers accumulating slowly, colours bleeding, signals slightly overdriven and left unresolved.

Sonically, the mix occupies a proto-cyber tropical zone—humid, blurred, and gently unstable. Layers of noise, softened rhythms, and synthetic textures accumulate into a form of ambient saturation, where density replaces direction and repetition becomes restorative rather than functional. The approach remains rough, unhinged and no-frills: raw signal paths, little correction, and a willingness to let things run slightly out of control.

Assembled from outtakes, alternate versions and early sketches, the tape favours atmosphere over structure, presenting the material in a slower, more inward-facing state than earlier Lagoss releases. It functions less as a remix than as a refracted memory of the original sessions, viewed through time, heat, signal decay—and left deliberately unfinished.

Santana III is an album of 'lasts'. It was the last album recorded with the original Woodstock-line up and the last to hit #1 in the Billboard charts until 1999's Supernatural. But there are also a number of important 'firsts' on this album; Coke Escovedo joins in for the first time on percussion, as does Neal Schon (Journey) - who was a mere 17 of age when they recorded the album - on guitar. Santana III is viewed by many as the band's commercial and creative highpoint. The band sounds darker, rawer, and more eager with the doubling up on guitar of Schon's Rock 'n' Roll sensibilities and Santana's ecstatic high notes and soulful fills. Escovedo and Chepito's percussion are as fast as it is furious, and the minimal production adds greatly to the timeless appeal of this album. Santana III is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on translucent yellow coloured vinyl, housed in a deluxe heavyweight gatefold sleeve.

After the dissolution of his wave-making duo project Ameli Paul, Berlin based musician and producer Paul Valentin aims to venture down new roads and finds help from illustrious folks like Liv Lisa Fries, DJ Koze, Thomass Jackson and Philipp Fein along the way. Valentin’s debut EP on Feines Tier marks his first solo release in 10 years and is a colourful journey through sonic worlds and emotions in the continuous search for his own sound.

Opener ELVAU is a collaboration with actor Liv Lisa Fries built around their intimate voice recordings which are woven delicately into a dreamy web of shimmering synths atop pulsating break beats that would make Bicep proud. For his remix, His Kosiness, the Tripsitter Himself also known as DJ Koze follows the breakbeat path further down, gleefully taking all sorts of wonky and fun diversions on the way, which makes one hope that the ride never ends.

Follow-up tune MALFUNCTION is a more straightforward affair with its rolling synth arps and is - in Valentin’s own words - “about personal failure, dissolution, and the distortion of the self“. Equally dark under- and overtones are throwing shades over WHATTHE!, dealing with anger and transformations, resulting in a banger for the heavier moments on the dancefloor or the mind between your headphones. The EP closes on a more hopeful note with LISTEN, which stands for „everything that could be, if we listened to each other“. And it’s never a bad idea to listen to chirping 303 basslines, especially when paired with melancholic synth pads and weird vocal samples, as is the case here. The rework of Thomass Jackson and FT-head honcho Philipp Fein feels beautifully anachronistic with its reduced tempo and could have been something Andrew Weatherall would have played when he was still playing our earthly dancefloors.

‘Phase Drift’ is a sonic exploration that contrasts light and dark. Side A shines with the dub-infused warmth of Colour and the vibrant bassline of Scope. While Side B delves into deeper territory, featuring the hypnotic percussion of Splinter and the underground grooves of Nt, creating a darker, more immersive atmosphere.

Andy Crofts announces the release of his debut solo single “Blue”, arriving 17th April on all digital platforms and Ltd edition 7” coloured vinyl to follow in June. Known for a lifetime immersed in music, from leading The Moons to fifteen years playing and contributing to number 1 records as part of the Paul Weller band. Joe Harriott"s High Spirits (1965), is a post-bop album featuring the British/Jamaican saxophonist"s quintet playing interpretations of tunes from the Noël Coward musical of the same name, this album is characterized by its melodic, swinging, and accessible nature, featuring strong, lyrical work from Harriott and trumpeter Shake Keane, with arrangements by pianist Pat Smythe. Unlike the more "free-form" experiments Harriott was known for at the time, High Spirits sticks to a more traditional hard-swinging, post-bop style, the quintet"s arrangements and, crucially, their improvisational skills, rescue it from being a commercial or bland effort. Les Baxter The Passions (1954) featuring Bas Sheva is an experimental, avant-garde, exotica masterpiece with Bas Sheva"s dramatic vocals, ranging from moans, grunts, and shrieks to melodic singing...portraying intense emotions like "Despair" and "Lust," paired with Baxter"s complex, orchestral, and percussive arrangements. Carsten Meyer released his debut album “Erosound” in 1998 under the name “Erobique”. Exactly 25 years later, the now 50-year-old releases his second Erobique album on his own label A-sexy. Thirteen diverse tracks ranging from holiday disco to rhythm box rave, recorded and produced with many of his friends and companions. Twenty-five years, that's pretty much the time it took disco to evolve from the legendary loft parties of pioneer David Mancuso to the impressive mass spectacles of Daft Punk's performances, or from Meyer's birth to his first full-length record. So why only now a second album as “Erobique”?
