Boofy hails from Bristol's fine heritage of progressive bass music producers. Having made a name for himself as part of the Bandulu crew and his own Sector 7 Sounds imprint, as well as dropping killer releases on Innamind Recordings and No Corner.

Lucky for us, he's saved some of his deepest, heaviest hitting cuts for Tectonic! This 4 track EP is a masterclass in minimal effectiveness, with rhythms ready to set the dancefloor off that reveal ever deeper subtitles on repeated listens.

'Back In The Box' sets the pace with swinging hats, thumping kicks and a bass line that will sound like an earthquake on the right system! Follow up for 'Herbie' which takes things in dissonant direction, before dropping hard and with authority.

Flip then for the EP title track, an exploration around the paranoid edges of a creative mind, stretched to capacity. Finally the EP closes up with 'Perfunktion', a rolling rhythm with a lighter mood, somewhat reminiscent of Mala circa 2006. By day, Kemback teaches music production classes to students in Berlin, with such a musical background behind him, his latest EP Moving Through Clouds is every bit exquisite as you'd think. Bokeh pays full respect to Mars89's futuristic intent with a bad acid Akira sleeve airbrushed by Patrick Savile and a limited VR headset edition - accompanied by a 360° video environment by Seth de Silva.

Bokeh Edwards and Mars89 met at the Bokeh Versions x Diskotopia night in Tangram hairdressers, Tokyo (sponsored by Pioneer) in October 2016. He's a crucial member of the Tokyo's Chopstick Killahz, a self-described "Post Tribal DJ Unit" lurking on the fringes of the city's grime scene. Mars89's self released his debut EP East End Chaos in 2016 on a limited run of zines. He's also recently composed music for Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo 2017A/W and started a residency at Bristol's Noods Radio to highlight DJ and production talent elsewhere in Asia.

5 catchy tracks by eighties bristol outfit Umo Vogue Umo Vogue formed in Bristol by Stig Manley, Russ Crook and Neil Deamer who were in Bath based ska rock outfit 'The AT's', along with Bristol based singer Debbie Marlow. Neil's Brother Clive joined the band bringing a fantastic new dynamic to the band on drums, percussion and heavy artillery. The band name is a deliberate misspelling of the ultra-chic Italian fashion magazine 'L'Uomo Vogue'. After winning the Bristol 'Battle of the Bands' in 1982 they were signed to Phonogram and dropped a few months later. They then signed to EMI in '83 and released their first single 'Just My Love' released in early 1984. The second single was 'Make It Real' and was never released as the band were culled from the EMI roster in late '84. For this reissue of their debut single we've added 3 bonus tracks, a demo of 'Just My Love', the unreleased follow single 'Make It Real' and a bedroom demo 'Erotica.'

The drum tracks, a combination of rhythm machines and hand percussion, were mixed down from the 4-track tape used as backing on stage, with the rich slap bass and Roland SH09 synths weaves fluid lead lines in between the harmony vocals. Mistafide's colossal old-school rap behemoth 'Equidity Funk' has long been a record that makes the serious collectors salivate and is now here in full 12" form repress, too legit to quit.

Not much is known about the crew behind 'Mistafide', their government names are listed online but this is the only record they put out using this name. Suffice to say, this has no impact on the fury and style with which the MC's deliver their raps, backed with the studio nous of impresario Peter Brown. Across 12 minutes 'Equdity Funk' is a slamming Disco-rap monster, interpolating elements of the evergreen B-boy jam 'Theme From SWAT' it sounds like everyone just got into the studio and went for it. In the style of the times this is the real hip-hop flavour, a live band, some MC's and some death defying bars being dropped, proper old school. A truly rare recording, 'Equidity Funk' has been one of those records fans of the Disco-rap era have been fiending for for decades - often commanding prices over the $1000 mark you can now grab this slice of essential NYC street Funk.

The wonderfully monikered Golden Flamingo was one of many labels operating alongside the now legendary P&P Records imprint in late 70's to early 80's NYC. Fans of deep Disco, raw gritty Soul and rare as hen's teeth Electro and early Rap know of the cult status of it's brief but influential output and in recent years the P&P label and it's associated entities have enjoyed further popularity through the exposure of it's music by some of the world's most respected DJ's and selectors, and rightfully so. An amazingly lo-fi, endearing and overtly underground aesthetic runs through all of the labels, from the label artwork down to the music itself. This style is evident on Margo Williams' epic 'God Save And Protect All The Children', a colossally rare 12" from back in 1980.
A huge, drifting soulful Gospel number, 'God Save...' has been an oft overlooked gem in the wider P&P related catalogue. Not much info is known about Williams other than she contributed backing vocals to some classic Disco records including Inner Life's 'Inner Life II' and The Salsoul Orchestra's christmas LP as well as appearing on other P&P projects. The production on this record was handled by the absolute powerhouse duo of Peter Brown and Patrick Adams so it oozes that amazing quality that these 2 legendary studio figures brought to all of their projects - the trademark P&P sound. It's all here in this beautiful stirring plea to the lord to look after all of us set to some incredible arrangement and production. It's obvious these self-made music industry legends were at the top of their game back then and one only has to explore the rich and diverse catalogue of amazing music they've given us over the decades. Those Versed In His Bulging Back Catalogue Will Notice Familiar Stylistic Traits Throughout - Think An Endearing Looseness Built On Hardware Manipulation And A Playfulness Rarely Seen In Modern Dance Music. For His Happy Skull Debut He Takes On Acid House, To Great Effect. This Is Most Evident On Flipside "acid Hearse", A Constantly-rising Roller Built Around A Nagging, Tb-303 Style Riff And A Swinging, Off-kilter Drum Machine Rhythm.

Echoes Of Acid Can Also Be Heard In The Sparser A-side, "charnel House", Where Sharp, Psychedelic Lead Lines And Mind-bending Electronic Motifs Weave In An Out Of A Crunchy Rhythm Track To Create A Track That Is As Fun As It Is Weighty.

Here's one for all the hardcore Disco and Soul lovers out there, one of the finest and rarest manifestations of the legendary writing, arranging and production team of Randy Muller and Jeff Lane (Skyy, BT Express, Brass Construction, Aquarian Dream, Spiders Webb and many more!). First appearing as a 'Columbia Records Disco Series' promo 12" in 1976 this is a wondrous example of that mid to late 70's uptempo Soul sound morphing into Disco, and boy are we glad it did! Drenched in pure Philly vibes 'I'm Ready To Give Up My Life' is a real beauty, clocking in at over 9 mins of pure dance-floor joy with soaring strings and a driving rhythm. Pure class all the way and one for the aficionados for sure. Beautiful Soul music that will certainly deliver the goods in the club indeed. As per the original 1976 promo release this 12" features the same program on both sides.

This underground Disco classic has been legally reissued by Above Board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - Sony Music Entertainment. * Bristol's Joker has announced he is to celebrate 10 years of his pioneering Kapsize label with a special series of new 12' Joker releases, the second of which will drop this May.

* Over the past decade, Kapsize has put out some of Joker's most defining work, including the iconic 'Purple City' (produced with Ginz) — a track widely recognised as ground zero for Joker's purple dubstep aesthetic — and 2015 album, 'The Mainframe', as well as early records from Asa & Sorrow and L-Wiz.

* To be released both on special edition orange vinyl and digitally, Joker's second commemorative release lands in the form of 'Boat / Deploy'. A-side 'Boat' is gleefully maximalist, a playful accordion running alongside searing synths before a ominous bassline drops, taking us through his vivid and embellished creative world, while the cinematic 'Deploy' is another intense and larger-than-life riddim.

* To be released in June following the release of 'Anamorphic / Forever' in April, and 'Marching Orders ft. Footsie / Polka Dot' in May'.

* Following up his 2017 debut, Bristol's Via Maris is back on Livity Sound with an enigmatic two tracker pairing Glow Wall's aquatic reverie with the deeper rolling grooves of CU2.

* Established in 2011, Livity Sound is a frontrunning label in UK electronic music. Since its inception, Peverelist's imprint has dedicated itself to releasing innovative music, eschewing existing forms and forging its own stylistic path.

Following two previous excursions into degraded tape loops, fuzzed-out ambience and bittersweet moments of tenderness, O$VMV$M return to Idle Hands to complete a trilogy of LPs with 12 vignettes from the underbelly of the Bristol scene.

Bound to Young Echo's ever-swelling cult of wayward sonics, individually Amos 'Jabu' Childs and Sam 'Neek' Barrett have plenty of irons in the fire. Childs deals in forlorn, vocal-led introspection alongside Alex Rendall and Jasmine Butt as Jabu, while Barrett can be found laying down punishing modern grime variations alongside Kahn, or delving into more traditional soundsystem sonics in Gorgon Sound. Meanwhile the pair were clearly heard laying down some of the tones that seep out of the uncredited Young Echo collective LP from earlier this year. Their production work behind Rider Shafique's killerLion7" on Lavalava was unmissable, and their blunted beats behind Manonmars' debut LP are awaited with anticipation.

As O$VMV$M, the pair enter a particular sound world that mixes cosy nostalgia with creeping dread. Even at its most mellow, a sense of unease hovers beneath the surface, and that's what makes their approach so compelling. The sound palette is broad, from pitch-shifted RnB vocal licks to foggy trumpets crawling at half speed, but over it all a dense blanket of dust gives the sensation of peering back through time.

Putting paid to the idea that immersive music needs to be long and drawn out, the dose response on these condensed mood capsules is quick and strong. In a little over 20 minutes O$VMV$M take you far and wide. The trip over the past three LPs has been an adventure for both label and artists - Sam and Amos have shaped out a style that now feels like a fully formed entity independent of their other ventures. We look forward to seeing where O$VMV$M heads from here.

In June 2018 Margie Comes To The Uk Where She Is Reunited With Lamont Dozier Who Also Wrote And Produced For Her At Atlantic. Both Appear At The Blackpool International Soul Festival.

This internationally spread line-up also features some of Russia's best D&B exports. A.Fruit's 'Tender Love' is a delectable fusion of footwork and techno rolled into one and Soela's 'I Wish You Would Come' is an ambient spaced out down tempo number.

* Flip for a 140bpm excursion from Ishan Sound & Muttley, melding elements of trap, grime and dubstep meticulously to form an engaging sonic that is both fuel for the dancefloor as well as providing introspective qualities for bass weight meditation. 'Still Smoking' sums it up appropriately.

'Katalox' is Christian Jay's second 12" for Idle Hands, following on from 'Contrail' in 2016. That release made its mark with a distinctive blend of swinging UK Garage and a deftness of touch usually associated with the best minimal techno. A sound befitting this former Bristol resident and now Berlin dwelling artist. This new 12" picks up where the last one left off. 'Katalox' is propelled by a crunchy, understated breakbeat. 'Del's Kicks' is the more meditative cut.

The Aroma are a production unit from Bristol UK who supply a bedrock of masterfully crafted soundscapes for a very carefully selected set of guest MCs. The beats are created by DJ Rumage and engineered and produced by Rola (both from the mighty Bristol Hip Hop crew The Numskullz) with scratch wizard Sir Beans OBE on turntable duty.

Volume 1 has vocals supplied by Junior Disprol, Upfront MC (of Split Prophets), NK (p/k/a Blaktrix), NiLLa, Retna, MCM (of Caveman), Stepasaur (a/k/a Stepchild), Kelz (of 3PM) and last but not least additional vocals by Lizz.E (of the legendary Fresh 4).

At 8 tracks deep this album is short by modern standards but takes you back to a time when albums were 7 or 8 tracks long but overall were a higher standard. Too often now albums have 20 plus tracks with 10 or more fillers and quiet vinyl pressings.

Here you have 8 killers no fillers cut nice and loud and so gives a better sounding product which is something very important to Ruztik Records and AE Productions who have joined forces for this release.
