The Diggin' in the Crates Crew, commonly abbreviated as D.I.T.C., is a hip hop collective from New York City. It was founded by Diamond D and Showbiz and its name is from the art of digging for records to sample for production. The members have achieved substantial and consistent recognition in the music industry and Hip Hop circles.

They have collaborated with underground and commercial artists from around the world. All of the members are from the Bronx, with the exception of the late Big L from Harlem, and O.C. from Brooklyn. D.I.T.C., “The Official” Version is an alternative version of D.I.T.C.'s self-titled album D.I.T.C. which was not officially available on vinyl upon its initial release via Tommy Boy when it became apparent that group maintained vinyl rights of the album.

The Official Version has a different track listing with many of the songs being totally different versions than the ones appearing on the first album and also 2 tracks that weren't on D.I.T.C. at all - "All Love" and "We Known For That" (which is actually a remix of the 12" single "Internationally Known"). The album is executively produced by Show and re-released on D.I.T.C. Records with distribution by Fat Beats Distribution -20 years after its initial limited pressing.

Many of the songs appear in remixed forms that had yet to be released, some remixes and some original versions. Highlights include "Where Ya At"; the Big Pun/Milano collaboration but here, instead set over a slamming DJ Premier remix. Likewise, the "Way Of Life" features a totally different Buckwild beat, that is actually the original version of the track, that stands in stark contrast to the B-Boy anthem heard on the Tommy Boy album.

decade-plus together, the four-piece - Julia Shapiro (guitar, vocals), Lydia Lund (guitar, vocals), Gretchen Grimm (drums, vocals), and Annie Truscott (bass, vocals) - have created a resonant body of work. Live Laugh Love is a natural continuation. Against the bizarre backdrop of the past few years, Chastity Belt remained a supportive space for the members to grow and experiment, drawing on the ingredients most essential to their process since the beginning: authenticity and levity. Recorded over three sessions in as many years (January 2020, November 2021 and 2022), the focus became more about enjoying their time together in the studio than making it feel like work. Their ease and familiarity with engineer Samur Khouja in LA, who also recorded their last album, made for a particularly enjoyable process. Once completed, they returned to renowned engineer Heba Kadry who mastered the album. Album opener "Hollow" sets the tone with a gently driving rhythm while guitar layers stream like sun rays through an open car window. A warmth radiates through Shapiro's voice, even while grappling with feeling lost and stuck. "The older I get," Shapiro says of the lyrics, "the more I realize that I might just always feel this way, and it's more about sitting with the feeling and accepting it, rather than trying to fight it." That wisdom seems to anchor Live Laugh Love . Chastity Belt has never shied from navigating the spectrum of difficult emotions, and an existential thread weaves throughout the subject matter. And yet the songs feel more grounded than ever; there's a sense of quiet confidence and self-assurance that comes with being less numb and more present. Facing discomfort takes more fortitude, after all. Live Laugh Love finds the members in their prime as musicians. Their parts trace intricate patterns over one another, but there's room to breathe between the layers. Everyone contributes to the writing, sometimes switching instruments, and for the first time, all four members sing a song. It's never been more apparent that they are creative siblings, cut from the same belt. "We've been playing music with each other for over a decade," says Shapiro, "so it really does feel like we're all fluent in the same language, and a lot of it just happens naturally." "Laugh" seeks in the balm of friendship, aware of the anticipatory nostalgia that hits during a good time that you're already missing before it's gone; the heavier guitar tones on "Chemtrails" streak ominous chord progressions over Grimm's precision timekeeping, lamenting memories that won't fade easily. During a transitional time, Truscott came across a note in their phone that read, "it's not hard all day, just sometimes," which inspired a poignant line in the chorus of "Kool-Aid," their first song as lead vocalist on a Chastity Belt recording. Another standout, "1-90 Bridge" shines with a silvery melody that soars as Lund belts one of the most resounding moments on the album: "Tell your girlfriend she's got nothing to fear/I'm set in my head/My body's a different story." The track "Blue" saunters nonchalantly with a wink; you can almost hear Shapiro's smile as she sings "Faking it big time/So I can hit my stride/Man, it feels good to be alive," channeling early Chastity Belt channeling early '90s before channeling the late Elliott Smith in a spiral of distortion and insight: "Don't get upset about it/It's gonna pass/Tell all your friends about it/They're gonna laugh." "We have such a strong sense of each other's musical inclinations" says Lund. "I think this allows for a lot of playfulness...we can kinda surprise each other, like a good punchline would."

High Llamas present Hey Panda - a modern pop music/deep listening experience that could only issue forth from their personal quadrant of the galaxy. Hey Panda projects soulfully through an enervating abstract of today"s popular music; the sound of the Llamas" stately melodies and expressive ditties laid open - blissfully shattered - with drums and vocals hitting different, burning sounds and contemporary production twists pulling the ear at every turn. For the past few decades, High Llamas have trafficked in contemporary pop sounds directed toward the avant end of the spectrum as much as not. But here the message was clear. Llamas" composer-in-residence Sean O"Hagan was determined to let go. Hey Panda does just that, with a set of tunes reflecting on multiple levels how definitions change over the course of a lifetime, radiating an optimism derived from the diverse conundrums of today. Eight years since their last release, the pop musical Here Come The Rattling Trees, High Llamas have reinvented themselves again, mixing their peerless harmonic voice with what Sean regards as the "extraordinarily good" production sounds of today on Hey Panda. Choosing not to look backward to former golden ages celebrated in earlier Llamas eras, Sean"s instead found himself opened up by the sounds of music brought into the house by his adult children and the sounds encountered at sessions for which he"s recently written arrangements. In addition to the more traditional contributions he made to The Coral"s Sea of Mirrors album, plus his score for the Safdie brothers" 2022 film production, Funny Pages, Sean"s drawn great inspiration through working with Fryars, Rae Morris, King Krule, Pearl and The Oyster, while also soaking up the work of Tierra Whack and Chicago"s Pivot Gang, and being cheered on from a distance by longtime admirer Tyler The Creator. Thus, Sean"s producer procedural has evolved again, with upgrades first detected in his 2019 solo effort, Radum Calls, Radum Calls. With a cover of Billie Eilish"s "Wish You Were Gay" arranged for Bill Callahan and Bonnie Prince Billy"s Blind Date Party, along with his COVID-era solo single, "The Wild Are Welcome", Sean has leveled up again and again, leading to the delirious revelations of Hey Panda. Hey Panda"s wide reach is aided by two co-writes from Bonnie "Prince" Billy, (who bonded with Sean over a shared love of gospel soul during writing sessions), guest vocals from Rae Morris and Sean"s daughter Livvy, production twists from Fryars and the stalwart, flexible presence of High Llamas. For all of its sense of departure, Hey Panda is a movement in the High Llamas oeuvre that"s been a long time in development. Aspects of soul music were addressed at the time of Can Cladders; similarly, aspects of electronic dance music were in the mix in the late 90s, around the time of Cold and Bouncy. But nothing up to now has refocused the music of High Llamas so completely. Sharing the impulse of late-period Miles Davis and Quincy Jones, with further inspiration from Steve Lacy, SZA, Sault, No Name and Ezra Collective, among many others, Sean O"Hagan and High Llamas are living joyfully in the new and the now, with Hey Panda.

Der Hochglanzdruck des Albumcovers auf einem Spezialpapier lässt Teile des Gatefold Covers fast metallisch erscheinen. Wie üblich beinhaltet das Album einen nummerierten und von den Bandmitgliedern handschriftlich unterzeichneter Kunstdruck ist vielleicht das wichtigste Element fuer den potentiellen Käufer. "Ich nehme alles zurück, von wegen SALAMIRECORDER AND THE HI-FI PHONOS sind die Rettung des Garagepunk usw, weil eine Band alleine kann den Karren ja nicht aus dem Dreck ziehen. Obwohl man wohl bei den 13 Tracks der TELEBRAINS den Terminus ,Garagepunk" als Überbegriff geltend machen kann, bekommt man hier doch einen ganzen Blumenstrauß des Genres auf einer einzigen Platte präsentiert. Klingt jetzt genauso bíllig wie der Pressetext eines Labelsamplers, aber isso! Titel is scheinbar Programm, "their thoughts changed directions", mal Headcoat-ig (,Bleeding Out"), dann sehr trippy (,In my Head" und ,Golden Silver Surfer"), ab und an ist es schon recht lärmig und den geradlinigen Punkrock Hit vergraben sie auch ganz weit hinten auf Seite B (,The Bullshit"). Nach einigen Durchgängen findet man auch den Faden, der das ganze Album zusammenhält: die Drums! Wer hätte das gedacht! Die Drums treiben den Rest an, schieben ihn vor sich vor und zwingen Gitarre, Bass und Gesang dazu auch verdammt mal auf sich aufmerksam zu machen, und das machen die dann auch, gut und gerne!!! So langsam verschlägts mir die Sprache weil von da (Österreich) soviel MEHR Gutes kommt wie von dort (Woanders)." Hua Li has often worked the fruitful tension between opposing forces, whether being mixed-race, bisexual, or overtly political and softly vulnerable. Now the “half-Chinese, half-militant, half-rapper of your heart” is back with "ripe fruit falls but not in your mouth", her most ambitious and personal record to date. Playing between hazy R&B, hip-hop, jazz and electronic, Hua Li’s sophomore LP takes the imaginary garden as a proxy for cultivating home. With complex vocal arrangements, lush production by Alex Thibault (aka Gloze), and big, vibrant mixing by TNGHT’s Lunice, ripe fruit is a private confessional on a loud-ass record.

Following 2019’s Dynasty and 2020’s critically acclaimed Yellow Crane EP, "ripe fruit" is characteristically libertine. Textured and sensual, the Montreal multi-hyphenate balances her rich, waveforming tone with danceable, electronic signatures. The rapper is fierce and frequently funny, erupting from gauzy runs to deliver a quick uppercut that stings. With hooky, addictive features by Ambrose Getz and Darkus Millon, ripe fruit is an intimate record of healing, with Montreal’s nightlife at its heart. An artful collaborator, Hua Li co-wrote and performed on Gayance's 2023 Polaris short-listed album, Masquerade, and is the touring DJ for Inuk electro-pop throat singer, Riit.

Valentina Villarroel is a sound artist and phonographer who explores the intricate dynamics within various Southern ecosystems. Her work revolves around the profound potential of acoustic ecology, particularly in the face of encroaching real estate development on natural spaces. She also delves into the consequences of sound pollution on numerous species, contributing to their decline or disappearance. In recent years, her focus has extended to urban soundscapes and significant sonic events, such as the October 18th protest in Chile. With a solid background in bioacoustics applied to both human and animal well-being, Valentina assumes the role of co-director at AOIR Sound Laboratory. There, she spearheads an interdisciplinary initiative that centers sound as its core element. This includes the creation of the sonic cartography portal aoir.cl, as well as the development of handmade electronic devices like the Bowerbankii and the creation of various experimental microphones.

Los Angeles-based Fabiano Do Nascimento is a multi-string guitarist and songwriter who melds the traditional idioms of his native Brazil (i.e., samba, choro) with the more contemporary and experimental strains of jazz, pop, and electronic music. Das Nuvens (“The Clouds”), out July 2023 on Leaving Records, is a crisp, frequently blissful, and deceptively groove-oriented showcase from a consummate musician — a rich and varied collection of songs, all of which seem to prioritize, and thrive in, the soft and intentional spaces between notes.

Das Nuvens constitutes the free-form, exploratory work of a musician who, having mastered a distinct musical language, seeks to apply his skill towards broader, more experimental modes of expression. Fittingly, track one — built around a contemplative, pointillistic refrain— is titled “Babel,” a reference to the legend of man’s attempt to build a tower to heaven, and how God thwarted this alleged act of hubris by shattering man’s shared language, sowing chaos and confusion. Though a stern parable on its face, it is a myth that enshrines our world’s dizzying array of languages (of modes of being), and the subsequent beauty of cultural exchange through art. In this regard, it is a fitting opening statement for an album that collapses and collages not only contemporary and classical Brazilian and pop idioms, but also the diverse range of indigenous music that Nascimento has encountered and studied in his travels as a touring musician.

Die Original Schallplatten stammen aus dem Fundus von unserem geschätzten Duke Jens-O-Matic, seit Jahrzehnten als Grafiker, international gefeierter DJ, Sammler und Jäger unterwegs. Schon damals, als wir Stag-O-Lee das erste Leben einhauchten, war Jens-O-Matic dabei und lieferte vier Volumen der wundervollen Jim Jam Gems 10" Serie ab. Jeweils stilistisch in sich geschlossen. Aktuell arbeitet er an weiteren Jim Jam Gems Volumen, tut sich aber mit den Linernotes schwer, weil, "man hat ja einen pädagogischen Auftrag!". Nun zu dem vorliegenden Tonträger: Was macht ein Freund der obskuren 7", wenn er schon alles im Bereich Rhythm & Blues usw. hat? Er sucht sich weitere Betätigungsfelder. Andere Länder, andere Musik, andere Einflüße. So auch unser Jens-O-Matic. Eine kleine Weltreise hat er für Voodoo Mambosis unternommen, seine neue Liebe den Cumbia einfließen lassen, eine Prise Voodoo drunter gemischt, einige alte Bluesheroen reaktiviert, dazu etwas Exotica - die schadet nie. Die große Kunst ist nun, diese auf Papier disparaten Elemente so zu verbinden, dass etwas einzigartiges, durchweg spannendes entsteht. Voodoo Mambosis And Other Tropical Diseases ist das beste Beispiel dafür! Das Cover, ebenfalls designt von Jens-O-Matic, ist eine Hommage an die wegweisende 84er Compilation Rockabilly Psychosis and the Garage Disease!

Originally rumoured to be a double album the plan was shot down - Dave Thompson in conversation with Melanie managed to work out what it would look like and here we present all newly mastered the deluxe version. Woodstock and Glastonbury Fayre icon Melanie had been working with Easy Action on the deluxe vinyl and CD rerelease of one of the most legendary albums in her long catalogue prior to her very sad passing. In 1972, Melanie and her producer and husband Peter Schekeryk began work on what she intended to be her most ambitious album yet. Stoneground Words was to be a double album - the first such statement from any female rock artist. It would also be the first worldwide release on Neighborhood Records, the label she and Schekeryk established in 1971 - another first, as she entered territory into which only The Beatles, The Stones and The Moody Blues had previously stepped. Even more crucially, however, it was her personal response to the enormous success, earlier in the year, of the hit "Brand New Key" - "the bicycle song," as so many people recall it. Stoneground Words returned to the drawing board. Ten songs were selected; the remainder were placed to one side; and the album was released to generally positive reviews which included Melody Maker's assertion that it was "the most sophisticated she's made. The naiveté of the past has been replaced by deeper, more comprehensive methods of expression." She is the first to admit that the new edition of Stoneground Words is not a true facsimile of the original. The paperwork for all three projects, after all, disappeared long ago, as did the tapes ("who knows where?"). Das neue Team-up von Woo und IPR ist mehr als nur eine einfache Wiederveröffentlichung, sondern debütiert mit einer besonderen Auswahl von zwei Werken, Robot X und Xylophonics: Die Alben

Auf Korsika auf einem Campingplatz im Örtchen "Calcatoggio" lernten sich 1998 fünf junge Berliner kennen. Sie beschlossen eine Band zu gründen und der Plan ging auf. Seit nunmehr 20 Jahren mischen Les Calcatoggios in der Berliner Ska-Szene mit. Zunächst machten sie sich einen Namen bei Konzerten im Heimatbezirk Köpenick und Umgebung. Mit der Zeit erweiterte sich der Kreis der Zuhörer und der Wirkungskreis der Band: Konzerte spielten sie nun über die Berliner Stadtgrenzen hinaus bis Paris, Barcelona und Valencia. Mittlerweile zählen Les Calcatoggios zu den dienstältesten Akteuren der Berliner Ska-Szene. Sie machen nach wie vor eine lebendige und erfrischende Musik, mit der sie jede und jeden bewegen wollen. Immer tanzbar, durchaus mal rockig, mit eingängigen Melodien und Offbeats gewürzt und mit satten Bläsersätzen garniert.

Mix aus NDW, New Wave, Punk/Rock und Metal spannend wie die wilden 80er. Konkret bedeutet das: kräftige Gitarrenriffs, Ohrwurm-Hooklines sowie markanter Gesang, der zwischen kraftvoll klar und charmant ungehobelt variiert. Immer getragen von einem druckvoll- treibenden Fundament aus Bass und Drums. PIA UNITED feiert die ,Wiederauferstehung` des klaren und dabei gleichzeitig rotzig-frechen Lebensgefühls der 80er Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts." Die Protagonisten dieser Band sind vier alte Hasen aus Ost und West, mit musikalischer Vergangenheit in Punk, Rock und Metal (Baujahre zwischen 1969 und 1979) und eine junge Häsin (Erstzulassung 2006). Dabei bringen Mon Général Lütsch, Sir Herrle, Rob a.D. und Costja Chaos Erfahrung aus dutzenden, durchaus erfolgreichen, Veröffentlichungen und mehreren hundert Konzerten (u.a. auch in Dubai und auf Rapa Nui/ Osterinsel) mit. Das junge, selbstbewusst- kesse Frollein Pia Höhne punktet dafür mit ihrer prägnanten Stimme und ihren erstaunlichen Fähigkeiten an Gitarre und Schlagzeug. Außerdem bringt sie als Dorfkind die Zugehörigkeit zur Freiwilligen Feuerwehr und zum lokalen Angelverein mit. Dass sie bei allen Entscheidungen das letzte Wort hat, versteht sich da von selbst. Als weiteres Alleinstellungsmerk: die Wortschöpfungskreativität. ,In der Tradition der Neuen Deutschen Welle, lassen wir Wörter entstehen, die ohne Erklärung auskommen. Und so für sich allein Bestand haben." Inspiriert von Kreationen wie ,Kebabträume" oder ,Mauerstadt" erschafft PIA UNITED eigene Wortschöpfungen. Beispielhaft dafür: ,Sirenendeutschland", ,Notwehrmodus" oder ,Spiellistengeschmack-Gewinnkomposition". Ein eigener Song sowie Feeling B-Cover "Artig auf der Flip.

Feinster Oi!/Streetpunk aus vier Ländern (US, CAN, IR, GER) trifft sich hier auf einem Album. Jeweils drei neue, unveröffentlichte Tracks liefern die vier Combos hier ab. Die beiden LP-Seiten teilen sich RED BRICKS aus Hamburg, THE UNCOUTH aus Kansas City, AN SLUA aus Gaillimh sowie RECKLESS UPSTARTS aus Ontario mit je drei Songs. Die Bands eint die Verknüpfung aus anti-rassisitscher, antifaschsitischer Attitüde und dem rauen Sound der Straße mit Working-Class-Mentallity und einer derben Prise Oi! Veröffentlicht in Kooperation mit Insurgence Records (Kanada). Klassisch schwarzes Vinyl!

Cookin’ is the first of four albums derived from the Miles Davis Quintet’s fabled extended recording session on Octobre 26, 1956; the concept being that the band

would document its vast live-performance catalogue in a studio environment, rather than preparing all new tracks for its upcoming long-player. The bounty of material in the band’s live sets –

as well as the overwhelming conviction in the quintet’s studio sides – would produce the lion’s share of the Cookin’, Relaxin’, Workin’ and Steamin’ albums.



As these recordings demonstrate, there is an undeniable telepathic cohesion that allows this band – consisting of Miles Davis (trumpet), John Coltrane (tenor saxophone), Red Garland (piano),

Paul Chambers (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums) – to work so efficiently both on the stage and the studio. This same unifying force is also undoubtedly responsible for the extrasensory dimensions

scattered throughout these recordings. The immediate yet somewhat understated ability of each musician to react with ingenuity and precision is expressed in the consistency and singularity of each

solo as it is maintained from one musician to the next without the slightest deviation. « Blues by Five » reveals the exceptional symmetry between Davis and Coltrane that allows them to complete each others’ thoughts musically.



Cookin’ features the pairing of « Tune Up / When the Lights Are Low » which is, without a doubt, a highlight no only of this mammoth session, but also the entire tenure of Miles Davis mid-‘50’s quintet.

All the éléments converge upon this fundamentally swinging medley. Davis’s pure-toned soloes and the conversational banter that occurs with Coltrane, and later Garland during

« When the Lights Are Low », resound as some of these musicians’ finest moments.

In the exquisite “Goodbye,” warm analogue waves are punctuated by beats while rolling arpeggios and soaring lines drift above vocoder lyrics. “Synthpop Voyager” ends the EP. Frustration sind zurück und schon nach den ersten Takten wissen wir, wo es hin geht. Und obwohl wir uns genau das wünschen, wird wieder ein anderer Weg als zuvor gewählt, angetrieben von einem ursprünglichen Bedürfnis, das so komplex ist, dass sein Ausdruck niemals eine Wiederholung ist. Frustration lehren keine Musikgeschichte, aber das bedeutet nicht, dass sie nicht wissen, woher sie kommen. DIE Born Bad-Band schreit immer noch Postpunk. Für Snobs, die sich auf dem Boden wälzen, wenn auf der falschen Seite des Ärmelkanals Englisch gesungen wird, gibt es diesmal zwei Tracks auf Französisch, "Omerta" und "Consumés", welche daran erinnern, dass Fabrice Gilbert in einer Zwischensprache singt, die das Beste aus beiden Idiomen bewahrt hat. Es ist die perfekte Art, seine bissigen, unverblümten Tiraden zu genießen, die eine Schneise in diese Generation "of apathetic truffles / fantasizing about assholes full of money" schlagen. Außerdem singt Anne von der Rouener Combo Hammershoi auf "Vorbei" in deutsch Sprache, ein seltener Moment des Innehaltens auf dieser sehr intensiven, wütenden, lauten Platte, deren Sound weniger Cold Wave ist als der Vorgänger So Cold Streams. Das rasante Schlagzeug von "Catching Your Eye" erinnert an das fröhliche Dröhnen von "Shades From Fhe Past", einem Instrumentalstück ihres ersten Albums. "Secular Prayer", das das Album abschließt, bestätigt, dass Frustration genauso zur Ian Curtis-Familie gehören wie zur Ian Dury-Familie. Man muss schon aufpassen, sich bei einem solch kreativem Erfolg nicht zu ernst zu nehmen. Single-Vorbote "State Of Alert" fährt die Synthie-Sirenen hoch, nur ein erster energiegeladener Höhepunkt der französichen Frustration 2024.

Der Dark-Ambient-Pionier, die stygische Drone-Legende und das fast schon mythische Wesen LUSTMORD durchstößt mit "Much Unseen Is Also Here" einmal mehr den Schleier - die neueste Solo-Veröffentlichung des Künstlers in einer beeindruckenden, 40-jährigen kreativen Karriere an der Spitze der Industrial-Musik. Auf Drängen von Cosey Fanni Tutti und Chris Carter von Throbbing Gristle, Musik zu machen, die seine unverwechselbare Aura einfängt, übernahm Brian Williams 1980 Lustmord und begann mit Sounds zu arbeiten, weil die Musik, die er hören wollte, einfach nicht existierte. Lustmord veröffentlichte 1989 sein drittes Album "Heresy", das zu einem Meilenstein in der Industrial-Szene wurde und heute allgemein als Ursprung des Dark-Ambient-Genres gilt. 35 Jahre später führt Much Unseen Is Also Here" das Vermächtnis von Heresy" fort und knüpft an dessen fesselnden Erzählbogen an. "Much Unseen Is Also Here" besteht aus drei verschiedenen Teilen und ist dazu gedacht, in einer einzigen, ununterbrochenen Durchgang angehört zu werden; es entführt den Hörer in eine kompromisslose Parallelwelt, die nur in der Musik existiert, bevor es ihn am Ende für immer verändert wieder hinauswirft. Lustmord, der seit 1994 in L.A. lebt, hat auch als Komponist und Sounddesigner an der Musik für ikonische Film- und Fernsehproduktionen mitgewirkt, darunter "The Crow", "Strange Days", "From Dusk Till Dawn", "Underworld" und in jüngerer Zeit die FX-Serien "Fear The Walking Dead" und "First Reformed"von "Taxi Driver"-Autor Paul Schrader aus dem Jahr 2017. Immer noch entschlossen, die Grenzen von Sound, Genre und Medien zu erweitern, hat Lustmord auch zu den Soundlandschaften von Videospielen wie Assassin's Creed, League of Legends und, passenderweise, dem von H.R. Geiger inspirierten Survival-Horror-Spiel Scorn von 2022 beigetragen.

Code: Selfish is a 1992 LP by British rock band The Fall. Their 14th full-length studio album, it entered the UK chart at number 21, although it spent only one week on the chart.

The album is characterised by its harsher sound in relation to the previous year's Shift-Work, and is influenced by techno music (techno fan Dave Bush had been added on keyboards and computers).7 Despite this, the album also has some notably mellow moments, with "Time Enough At Last" (named after an episode of The Twilight Zone) and "Gentlemen's Agreement" being at odds with the overall sound of the album.

Largely recorded in a converted church in Glasgow, Code: Selfish features the group's only self-penned Top 40 single, "Free Range". The album would prove to be their last for the Phonogram label, as the group were dropped following the release of the Ed's Babe EP later in 1992. Simon Ford reports in his Fall biography Hip Priest that Phonogram had to compensate the band for the early termination of their five-album deal and that these funds were used to record what became The Infotainment Scan.

The album was re-released by Voiceprint in 2002 under licence from Phonogram, and also appeared in a double-CD set coupled with an edition of Shift-Work on the same label in 2003. This edition added "Ed's Babe" and "Free Ranger" to the track listing. It was reissued again in expanded and remastered form by Universal in May 2007.

Was ein Abriss! Weniger ist dann manchmal doch mehr - so gelernt an dem Beispiel von Park+Riot aus Leipzig. Samuel und Micha machen Gitarre und Drums, und das reicht hier um ordentlich Randale loszutreten. Irgendwie erinnern sie an mid 90er Chaoscore, mit einer irren Schippe Postrock und den nötigen kleinen Melodien, die die Songs im Kopf hängen bleiben lassen. Trotz alledem sind die Songs enorm dicht und stimmig, wirken nicht zusammengestückelt oder heterogen. Was die Songs eint ist auf jeden Fall ein Gespür für Rhythmik und Melodie, was auch den zerfahrensten Song irgendwie wieder auf die Spur bringt und fast schon Pop-Momente erklingen lässt. So treffen bei "The End" zum Beispiel Spoken Words-Part auf black metallige Knüppel-Attacken, bei "Clouds" treibende Schweden-Core Parts auf postmetallisches Atmo-Geklimper um dann wieder mit viel Effet Fahrt aufzunehmen und schliesslich in einem deftigen Neckbreaker-Mosh zu enden - Toll! Hier sind drei Bands in einer vereint, und die eine hat obendrauf noch was zu sagen. Wenn bei "Long Run" der ganz Laden den Refrain mitgröhlt, weiß der Letzte spätestens, dass er bei einer ganz wichtigen Sache mit dabei ist.

“My heart is loud,” Julia Holter sings on her sixth album Something in the Room She Moves, following an inner pulse. The Los Angeles songwriter’s past work has often explored memory and dreamlike future, but her latest album resides more in presence: “There’s a corporeal focus, inspired by the complexity and transformability of our bodies,” Holter says. Her production choices and arrangements form a continuum of fretless electric bass pitches in counterpoint with gliding vocal melodies, while glissing Yamaha CS-60 lines entwine warm winds and reeds. “I was trying to create a world that’s fluid-sounding, waterlike, evoking the body’s internal sound world,” Holter says of her flowing harmonic universe.

For their third vinyl outing, Selector Series dig into the Archives of New Jersey’s Debbie Records from 1981 to re-issue this storming boogie re interpretation of The Carpenters standard, which found itself a legion of fans in the UK thanks to Gary Dennis’s championing of it.

In a pre Discogs era, this record attracted a £400 price tag amongst serious collectors back in the late eighties, with the original pressings still going for £500+ even now. The album has been re issued by several different labels over the ensuing years, but this double header is being made available for Record Store Day on a seven inch format for the first time officially, featuring the original album sleeve artwork.
