Wallis is back with a very heartfelt EP. Her goodbyes to the city she called home for the better part of the last decade. Many people move to Berlin, many people get stuck there and wonder where the time went. This EP talks about the unhealthy relationship she had with the city. It's about being stuck somewhere you no longer want to be but somehow cannot leave. The music is stripped down to its bare elements with moody vocals, unique drums patterns and intertwined baseline and melodies that somehow feel familiar. It's melancholic. It feels grey. Sad yet hopeful. Berlin. But tomorrow is another day.

"Water Season" is a collaborative EP between the lo-fi duo Hooky and shoegaze artist Winter. They first met online as fans of each other's music and soon started corresponding with ideas, the first of which was writing "horseshoe." After relocating from Los Angeles to New York, Winter took a trip over to Philadelphia in the summer of 2024 where they all became good friends and spent the whole day writing songs together. They coalesced in their love for lo-fi, indie, electronica pairing beautiful melodies with experimentation, sampling, and guitar. In their own way they created a sonic snapshot of that intersection of time and feeling- the bittersweet and fleeting sensation of the end of summer fading into fall. Both bands will be playing shows together this year as well as touring to promote the EP.

Psychedelic music can be many things, but not many are quite like Fomies brand of the genre. This Swiss five piece throws some punk rock a la The Dead Milkmen into the mix and describes themselves as:

As the fourth volume of the compilation series “traversée”, moving silhouettes encourages artists to explore all corners of listening music and creative avenues that aren’t tied to any one convention.

Pembroke King’s poem sheds light on the mood of the compilation, and even though each artist brings its own interpretation of it, there is a beautiful harmony of it all - from Kate Miller’s atmospheric sounds to Teqmun’s drums-made-of-rain-drop-recordings or Ghjuliú’s nostalgic melodies, the listener travels around Pembroke’s words with each track.

As our first physical release, we feel honoured to collaborate with artists who have been involved in a way or another on traverse before such as Officium, Mika Oki and Alohn, but Kate Miller, Teqmun, and Ghjuliú, that we’ve been keeping close to our heart for a long time already.

The artist, DJ, and producer Autarkic (Nadav Spiegel) - one of the most influential underground figures in recent years and a key player in TLV electronic scene-releases a new Hebrew-language album, available as a limited-edition vinyl and on digital platforms. "Tahor" is Autarkic's sixth album and his second in Hebrew. It is entirely composed of a mosaic of samples from his personal music collection, cuts from archival recordings, and historical references that hint at events that shaped him. The result is a personal and collective memory machine - 14 tracks that take the listener on a journey through euphoric joy, subdued melancholy, and playful sarcasm.

"Tahor" is a journey that emerges from Autarkic's private consciousness, offering a sober reflection on his unwavering insistence on being an artist who neither knows nor wishes to "play the game" for popularity ultimately finding peace with himself. Throughout the album, Autarkic ventures beyond his own mind into the outside world, confronting social and political realities and adding his own musical document about life in Israel.

Karpenters, the latest album from Kool Keith, produced by Grant Shapiro, stays true to the essence of Hip-Hop: boom bap beats, clever samples, and heavyweight guest features. Hip-Hop legends like Tash (Tha Alkaholiks) and Marc Live (Analog Brothers/Black Elvis) add to the project, complementing Kool Keith’s signature eccentric flow.

Working with Gearbox and using Decca’s original 15ips 2-track stereo master tapes, this reissue is a true AAA release—an all-analogue production with no digital step. The album was meticulously cut directly from the tapes and pressed to the highest standards at Optimal in Germany.
Inside the deluxe package, fans will discover an 8-page booklet featuring an in-depth essay by Jazzwise magazine editor Mike Flynn, along with never-before-seen photos from the original recording sessions.

Rhiannon Giddens trifft ihren ehemaligen Bandkollegen von den Carolina Chocolate Drops, Justin Robinson, wieder auf „What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow“, einem Album mit Fiddle- und Banjomusik aus North Carolina. Die Songs stecken voller Ideen, die die meisten Metalmusiker niemals in dieser Form gehabt hätten. Und auch die Umsetzung ließ schon immer den Verdacht aufkommen, dass hier Profimusiker aus einem anderen Genr beauftragt wurden, ein Heavy Metal Album zu schreiben und aufzunehmen – natürlich standesgemäß mit Künstlernamen wie The Lion oder Mike Battista. With Hospiz Recordings, the sound carefully curated by the collective finds a new platform, pushing its vision. The first release sets the tone with two tracks by Germany's underground mainstay Off/Grid, a track from Vienna-based music producer and designer, Oat M, and a collaborative track from local artists, Toni Telefoni and Bossifunk.

Helsinki tenor saxophonist Jussi Kannaste's debut album as a band leader has been a long time coming. A top musician in the local scene revered by his contemporaries and sought after as a band member, Kannaste now presents his new work Out Of Self and Into Others on We Jazz Records. His quartet, Kannaste4, brings together Finnish musicians Tomi Nikku (of Bowman Trio) and Joonas Riippa, plus Berlin-based Swedish bassist Petter Eldh (of Koma Saxo / Post Koma and Y-OTIS), and features an all original program penned by Kannaste. His music is highly personal contemporary jazz leaning into modes of avantgarde expression. At times quiet as a whisper, at times fiery and swinging, Out Of Self and Into Others is a product of a deep marinade, a debut album that feels like much more than "just" that.

Jussi Kannaste (born 1976) is a saxophonist and educator based in Helsinki. Prior to launching Kannaste4, he has been a key part of the scene for 20+ years, performing in highly acclaimed bands such as Antti Lötjönen Quintet East, 3TM, Jaska Lukkarinen Trio, Ricky-Tick Big Band, and many more. As the head of the department of Jazz at Sibelius Academy, Kannaste is also a key figure in internationally admired Finnish jazz education system.

Die Songs, so Gruendungsmitglied Sinner, sind eine aktuelle klangliche und visuelle Auseinandersetzung mit dem "Kampf um Macht und allem, was damit einhergeht."Hate, gegruendet 1990 in Warschau, wird als "Inbegriff von Konstanz" gefeiert und als "glatte und praezise Death-Metal-Maschine" gelobt. Seit dem 2017er Album Tremendum hat sich die Band thematisch auf die Natur und ihre Mysterien konzentriert. Wie Sinner erklaert: "Egal ob die Natur in uns, um uns herum oder aus der Ferne betrachtet - die daraus gewonnenen Perspektiven und ihre Verbindung zu verschiedenen uebergeordneten Themen haben jedes Album gepraegt." So behandelte etwa Auric Gates of Veles (2019) den Tod - insbesondere die slawische Sichtweise darauf. Sechs Jahre spaeter widmet sich Bellum Regiis der Menschheit selbst und der Frage, warum wir als Wesen so tief durch Konzepte wie Macht, Reichtum, Ruhm und Glauben motiviert sind. Das zentrale Thema ist der Kampf um Macht und alles, was damit verbunden ist.Daher auch der Albumtitel Bellum Regiis, was uebersetzt "Krieg der Koenige" oder "Koeniglicher Krieg" bedeutet. Sinner stellt sich die grossen Fragen rund um Macht - macht uns deren Erreichung abartig oder sind wir es von Natur aus? Der Titelsong bildet das Leitmotiv des Albums. "Als Song besitzt Bellum Regiis sowohl eine tiefe Melancholie als auch eine gewisse Erhabenheit", sagt Sinner. "Der Gesang von Eliza Sacharczuk (eine bekannte Saengerin und Gesangslehrerin, die ein ganzheitliches Kunstzentrum in Bialystok leitet) verleiht dem Lied ein starkes Zeitgefuehl. Ob das nun Nostalgie, Rueckblick, Reue oder Vorbereitung auf die Zukunft ist, liegt im Auge des Betrachters. Newest Album by renowned Gamelan orchestra Salukat and award winning composer Jan Kadereit. Salukat is one of the most acclaimed ensembles dedicated to contemporary ethnological music in the world. This resulting album is full of unheard harmonies and beautifully intertwined melodies. It ranges from meditative pieces rich in sounds to burstful, highly joyous and energetic pieces that bring out the skill of the virtuosic musicians. They seem to effortlessly bend the fow of time, seemingly dancing through multiple rhythms like on the title track Ashira. In the same composition, the differently tuned sets of instruments are combined to create colors that no other ensemble in the world can replicate. Zoe Heselton is a British-born poet and musician based in Strasbourg, France. Alone with her Telecaster guitar, she channels her multiple and influences into flamenco-folk-blues fingerpicking techniques, carrying her voice into the strings as she spits out rhymes about change and desire. For this first album, she gathered her beloved and talented friendships around her to sing from places of tenderness and anger, balancing melodies with the band's arrangements and dissonance. Since her songs are stories, spells, poems and prayers, there additional personalities give a crafted power to regenerate from the limbs, surrounded by caretaking souls and generous love-spreading hearts.
