Mit „Sweet Unknown“ veröffentlicht die US-Amerikanische Gruppe Ceramic Animal ihr viertes Studioalbum am 04. März 2022. Die aus Doylestown/Pennsylvania stammenden Brüder und Freunde lassen sich nicht auf Genre beschränken: Von Glam, über Post-Punk und Psych Rock, bis zu 70er Pop & Folk sind alle Einflüsse dabei.

Ceramic Animal besteht aus den drei Brüdern Chris Regan (Gesang, Gitarre), Erik Regan (Schlagzeug), Elliott Regan (Gesang, Keyboard) und deren Kindheitsfreunden Anthony Marchione (Gitarre), sowie Dallas Hosey (Gesang, Bass).

Nachdem sie ihre ersten drei Studioalben komplett selbst finanziert, produziert und veröffentlicht haben, schreiten sie nun auf neuen Wegen und kollaborieren mit dem Grammy-ausgezeichneten The Black Keys Frontmann Dan Auerbach als Songwriter und Produzent. Zudem veröffentlichen sie das Album bei dem von Dan Auerbach gegründeten Label Easy Eye Sound. Der Titeltrack ist eine von Roy Orbison inspirierte Meditation über die andere Seite. ”Lyrisch und klanglich verkörpert ’Sweet Unknown’ ein Eintauchen in eine ungewisse, aber wunderschöne Dunkelheit”, sagt Schlagzeuger Erik Regan.

Demon Records präsentiert das erste Doctor Who-Abenteuer von Douglas Adams - dem Schöpfer von The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - mit Tom Baker als Doctor. Auf der Jagd nach dem Schlüssel zur Zeit geraten der Doktor, Romana und K9 auf dem Planeten Calufrax in lokale Ereignisse und zwischen die Fronten des bombastischen Captain - halb Mensch, halb Maschine - und den finsteren Mentiads. Jemand plündert ganze Planeten nach ihrem Reichtum, und gerade als der Doktor herausfindet, wer dahintersteckt, gerät etwas anderes in Gefahr: die Erde!
Der kultige TV-Soundtrack von 1978 wird auf 2 x 140Gr. Sky Demon Splatter-Vinyl-LPs präsentiert und von John Leeson, der Originalstimme von K9, erzählt. Zur Nebenbesetzung gehören Mary Tamm als Romana mit Bruce Purchase, Andrew Robertson, David Warwick und Rosalind Lloyd. Die Begleitmusik wurde von Dudley Simpson komponiert, und die bekannten Klänge des Doctor Who-Themas wurden vom BBC Radiophonic Workshop zur Verfügung gestellt.

In a career spanning more than three decades, composer and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen has established himself worldwide as a driving force in progressive rock. Lucassen is committed to maintaining a consistent vocalist lineup on Star One. For "Victims of the Modern Age," he reunited the high-powered cast of lead singers from the first album, "Space Metal" (2002): Russell Allen (Symphony X), Damian Wilson (Headspace, Threshold), Floor Jansen (ReVamp, ex-After Forever), and Dan Swanö (Nightingale, Second Sky, ex-Edge Of Sanity). The different vocal styles of these great vocalists, ranging from soaring power vocals to haunting melodic passages to brutal growls, give each song a stunning variety of vocal textures

As for the instruments, the Dutchman recorded the rhythm guitars, Hammond organ, Mellotron, Solina strings and analog synthesizers himself and invited drummer Ed Warby (Ayreon, Hail of Bullets, Gorefest) and bassist Peter Vink to provide the powerful rhythm tracks. He also enlisted the intimidating solo skills of former After Forever keyboardist Joost van den Broek and guitarist Gary Wehrkamp (Shadow Gallery), both of whom contributed characteristically blistering solos. In addition to this formidable lineup, Lucassen recruited three other vocalists - Mike Andersson (Cloudscape, Full Force, Silent Memorial), Rodney Blaze and former Black Sabbath frontman Tony Martin - for several bonus tracks on the album

by Theo Verney (TRAAMS, Lazarus Kane, FEET),
finds singer and frontman Zac Lawrence switching
from the overt politicism of previous releases into a
more tongue-in-cheek narrative centred around the
case of PC Read, a police officer fired for stealing
doughnuts through a self-service checkout. In
addition to providing a case study into the fashion
hose in positions of authority often consider
hemselves above the law, the track also aims to
comment at the manner modern morality so often
relates to PR optics, as the cultural trope of law
enforcement eating doughnuts is played out in real
ime.

During 1978 to 1980, Fashion released one album and a handful of indie club hit singles mixing Punk & Reggae vibes. They toured the US extensively supporting The Police in 1979. Limited Edition of 800 copies 2LP set with printed inner bags. All tracks completely remastered. Contains every studio recording of the first lineup of Fashion including US singles. Includes unreleased tracks. Liner notes from lead singer & Guitarist Luke Sky. Fashion went through several line-up overhauls during its initial existence between 1978 and 1984. John Mulligan (synthesiser, bass) and Dik Davis' (drums) were constants, but the band's frontman changed with each of the band's three albums. Post-punk years: Fàshiön Music Fashion was formed originally as Fàshiön Music, in Birmingham, England, in 1978, and consisted of John Mulligan (bass, synthesizer), Dik Davis (drums), and Al James (vocals, guitar). James became known as Luke Sky, or simply Luke or Lûke (short for "Luke Skyscraper" - a reference to the Star Wars character Luke Skywalker and the fact that James was tall and thin), while John Mulligan was known simply as Mulligan and Dik Davis simply as Dïk (or "Dik Mamba" on their debut single). In 1978, they also founded their own Fàshiön Music label; from this point forward, the band was generally (though not completely consistently) identified as Fashion, as distinct from the name of their self-owned label. Fashion released their first two singles ("Steady Eddie Steady" and "Citinite") as independent issues on the UK in November 1978 and June 1979 respectively. The group was quickly picked up by I.R.S., who put out a third single in the US in September 1979, "The Innocent". A then-recently formed Duran Duran opened their shows; they toured the UK with U2, both the UK and US with The Police, and opened for The B-52's on their first British tour. In March 1980, no longer associated with I.R.S., Fashion released their "Silver Blades" single, again on their own Fàshiön Music label. Later in 1980 they also released one more song, "Let Go", on a Birmingham bands compilation called Bouncing in the Red (EMI). In June 1980, after a last gig in London with U2, Luke James left the band, and later moved to the United States.

Dutch producer returns to Boogie Angst for instrumental sophomore LP

Rotterdam, The Netherlands - Boogie Angst proudly presents Music Ruined My Life, the brand new instrumental LP from Rotterdam-based artist and producer Moods.

Dropping in the wake of front runner singles 'Talk About It,' and 'Music Saved My Life',' the Dutchman's notorious fusion of soul, R&B, and alternative influences takes a whole new dynamic courtesy of his first fully live recorded offering.

Recorded live in the city of Leiden during the peak of the pandemic alongside a full band, the LP taps effortlessly into the balance of soulful and jazz-inspired undertones that have hallmarked the project since breakthrough single 'Love Is Real.' A tastemaker favorite and label staple, the LP shows a more intricate and uncaged spin on the Moods sound, which has been consistently hailed by tastemakers globally and sampled by the likes of Logic.

The supple guitar plucks and resonating brass of 'Deeper Water' sets the LP in motion, building towards the funkier and perkier swells of album cuts such as 'Ecstacy' and 'Push Pull.' Capped by 'Return To 4ever,' a sultry and deeply atmospheric fusion of jazz and contemporary soul sounds, the eight-track endeavour shows that for all his streaming and collaborative success, the rich musicianship of the Moods project has not waivered.

"There really wasn't a huge concept or target for this record, it was more about tapping into the pure joy of making and creating music," he explains. "The pandemic was such a weird time, there was a lot of uncertainty in all aspects of life. So it almost felt like the perfect time to try something new. Having the band together in one room was a real rush, I liked how the record came together and how each artist brought their own energy to the project.

"I enjoy working with vocals, and I think the vocalists I have worked with on projects so far have been amazing. But when you take that element out and focus more on the instrumentation and arrangement, it's a really different experience, and that's something I really enjoyed for Music Ruined My Life.

Moods garnered more than 30m+ streams globally for debut LP Zoom Out, and has continued to leap from strength-to-strength courtesy of his soulful take on the boundaries between electronic and contemporary R&B.

The hand-drawn artwork, which has become iconically synonymous with the Cherushii sound, are original creations by Cherushii’s sister, Sabrina Fox. With this reissue, we offer a continuation of the same visual candy with a new front cover by Sabrina: the nudibranch pattern. Chosen by Sabrina after a dream visitation, the nudibranch is a curious, resilient creature which harnesses its profound coloration to flourish in the oceanic infinity. It can only do so, however, once it sheds its shell.

Inside of 3 EPs you will find the original covers belonging to Nobody’s Fool, Starlight Express, and Manic as gloss sleeves for the respective EP.

Gently propelled by Damon's haunting breath-of-life vocal winds reminiscent of Joan La Barbara underscored by field recordings and Damon's fretless bass sound calling to mind mid-70 Joni Mitchell, Windsong is traveling music, for the roads or for the skies. Instantly moving, it conjures vistas both romantically familiar and cosmically mysterious — waterfalls and wind, the voice of the earth, as heard through heavenly prisms.

Damon attended college in Massachusetts, where she formed and fronted the all-female garage band called The Moppets in the late 60s. The band began to garner national attention, but Damon moved instead to the wilds of northern Vermont to homestead and raise a family. In 1981 or thereabouts she was able to gain use of an early Sony digital home recorder, and created her masterwork, Windsong.

But Damon waited until 1990 to release a packaged version of this album, now titled "Windsong II", and sent samples to regional distributors like Vermont’s fabled Silo-Alcazar, where a copy of the album was first discovered, but little evidence exists of a proper commercial release. Alice Damon passed on in 2011 and remained essentially unknown until the landmark I Am The Center: Private Issue New Age In America 1950-1990 first revealed her genius to a wider audience two years later. Now, just in time for the recording's 40th anniversary, Alice Damon's Windsong may at last be heard as one of the most singular, moving and profound examples of new age music's psychedelic essence. Tindersticks neues Album "PAST IMPERFECT The Best of Tindersticks '92-'21'" erscheint am 25. März 2022 über City Slang. Acid Jazz subsidiary Countdown Records presents a new release from Graham Day: ‘Master of None’.

The former Prisoners front man emerged in the Bill Childish / Medway scene. While not enjoying the recognition and commercial success of some of his contemporaries at the time, he has emerged as one of the most enduring and prolific songwriters of the era.

‘Master of None’ is a unique addition to the Graham Day canon, featuring 12 new songs, with all instruments recorded entirely by the man himself - a measure of the depth of talent on display and his continuing creative vision.

Melvin Ukachi needs little introduction, the Lagos (Nigeria) based vocalist and bandleader is a living legend. Melvin is known for his fantastic solo albums, his vocals for the afrobeat star-groups M.F.B. and Ozzobia…but his biggest legacy is without a doubt him being the singer and bandleader of Ofege.
Melvin formed Ofege in the early 1970s (when he and the other band members were all still a bunch of teenagers). Due to their vibrant combo of sweet harmonies, hooks & fuzz, Ofege would become one of the most legendary Nigerian groups of all time, with expressive sales and national stardom to follow. At the turn of the century (and because of tracks appearing on various compilations) Ofege would receive international acknowledgment for being the first of their kind and THE ultimate West-African psychedelic funk band!
Melvin Ukachi recorded four milestone albums with Ofege: ‘Try and Love’ (1973) ‘The Last of The Origins’ (1976), ‘Higher Plane Breeze’ (1977) and ‘How Do You Feel’ (1978). When the Ofege story came to an end, Melvin recorded two astonishing solo albums: ‘Evolution-Bring Back The Ofege Beat’ (1981) and ‘I am Ok’ (1985). Both of his solo recordings have now become much sought-after holy grails for collectors and fans alike.
On the album we are presenting you today (I AM OK from 1985) the listener is treated to Ofege’s trademark sound…but we’re also shown a perfect glimpse of the late 70’s afrobeat works combining soul, jazzy rhythms, William Onyeabor style laid back electro funk synths & fluid boogie-danceability. The female backing vocals and handclaps by Princess Bunmi Olajubu (Femi Kuti) also deserve a special mention because they add so much depth and grooves to this amazing record.
Expect some serious local ‘all-star’ guest musicians on this record as well. Next to him playing the synth, Jake Sollo also produced this gem of an album! To top things off the tracks were recorded and mixed at the legendary RAS Studio in Akwa, Nigeria…all slickly engineered by John Malife (Black Children Sledge Funk Band, T-Fire, BLO).
‘I AM OK’ was released on CRS Nigeria in 1985 and is a total Afro-pop-funk classic that begs for a special place in your record collection. It’s tight, funky and Melvin’s soulful vocals are to die for. This record is a monster!

After half a decade of not releasing new music Orange Countys most notorious melodic hardcore force IGNITE are ready to get back to work with their new vocalist Eli Santana up front and a new album in hand. “It’s a new chapter for IGNITE,” reaffirms Brett. “But there’s a lot of looking back to some of our earliest records like Call on My Brothers and having the same feeling writing these songs with a new singer.” In these Southern California stalwarts’ minds, the more things change, the more they stay the same. “This is what we love doing – as it was in 1993 and as it is now.”

REDSHARK was founded in 2012 in Barcelona - Spain, by Philip Graves (guitar) with the aim of delivering Classic Pounding Heavy Speed Metal. Their traditional 80s metal influences may plunder the nostalgia circuit but REDSHARK are ruthlessly carrying the torch with great attitude, and powerful melodic songwriting. The band had their full line up fixed in 2013 with Javier Bono on 2nd guitar, Mark Striker on drums, Chris Carrest on bass, and Pau Correas on vocals. Their debut official release "Evil Realm" ep came out in 2019 and showed the band pushing the velocity further. Those intense five songs drew a roaring response and helped to spread REDSHARK name nationwide and abroad. REDSHARK have since honed their gloriously raw yet precisely incisive, dark, catchy and addictive speed heavy metal crunch staying faithful to their original influences taken from undisputed metal legends like Judas Priest, Savatage, Exciter and Metal Church. The band's albums front cover concepts look entertaining with their comic book type of artworks depicting a mad red human shark on a killing spree. It also represents the band's out for blood impulse in churning out those hard hitting riffs and also refers to their energetic live performances. That redshark is obviously the band's mascot. In 2021, they composed and recorded their full length debut album 'Digital Race’. It was produced by Jaume Perna (Jack Dark) and mixed & mastered by Gonzalo Vivero in In The Red Audio. As always, the cover art was by Jose Antonio Vives. LG Valeta , guitar player from the much acclaimed ‘77 guests on the track 'Pallid Hands' with a stunning Flamenco guitar solo. and composition – and on more than one occasion even reimagined the
very instrument itself."I don't sit around and say, 'Okay, what can I do now
that pushes the boundaries?," Vai explains about his approach to the

"What I do say to myself is, 'Okay, Vai – what are you going to do now that's going
to interest you, that's going to fascinate you, and that's different than anything
you've done before?"The answer to that question comes in the form of Vai's
newest and 10th solo album, 'Inviolate', a nine-song opus that does indeed push
the boundaries of instrumental guitar music – this time out, Vai quite literally
invented not just a new guitar, but also a new guitar-playing technique. The Hydra,
the elaborate three- necked steampunk- inspired guitar that Steve holds on the
album cover, is actually played on the song 'Teeth of the Hydra'. On the other hand
(no pun intended), Steve recorded and played the song 'Knappsack' with just his
left hand, after his right arm was in a sling following shoulder surgery.
At the same time, 'Inviolate' presents his most focused, streamlined and perhaps
invigorating music in years. The album features a host of esteemed musicians,
including Billy Sheehan, Vinnie Colaiuta and Terry Bozzio.

I have yet to get to grips with it again properly in preparation for these anniversary shows. It's so far away in my past that I have some difficulty in relating to the person who made it. Mostly when I hear it I'm just amazed at the confidence, and possibly arrogance, I had then. I insisted on mostly first takes being used, vocals being recorded live in the room with the instruments, a ban on any reverbs or ambience being used. It was like I was trying to sabotage my career at the first hurdle. Many of those decisions were based on half understood, interviews with my idols from the American Lo-Fi scene but I really didn't know what I was doing. It does make a bizarre and caustic record though, and I know there are plenty of people who think this is my best work and I never got back to the blunt energy of these recordings. I do see their point. Quotes - Hefner's is a bedsit world of spindly guitar and towering passions; of skewwhiff ideals and surprisingly smooth melodic surges; of awkward outbursts and slow-burning lo-fi for lovers… 'Breaking God's Heart' is all about sparkling melodies, twinkly-eyed poetry, intimate confessions, a thrillion knowing references to sex, soul and sadness and the sort of chipper attitude that says: 'This is a record you will relish for years to come'. Calling all old souls, wild childs & real gone gals, here comes the brand spankin’ new solo debut from Kevin Preston (PrimaDonna/Green Day, etc.)! It’s a hot shot of new-old-stock rock n roll that rolls as much as it rocks; strolls as much as it struts; and shuffles as much as it stomps. Close My Eyes slow-burns like a long drag on a Lucky Strike. I Know Where I Stand channels the spirit of fellow Valley boy, the late Ritchie Valens. Caprice is a slapback-drenched rockabilly rave up that sounds like a rumble between the ghosts of Alan Vega, Vince Taylor & Gene Vincent. Kevin cut his teeth in the early 2000’s as a teenager playing guitar in a revamped lineup of original 70’s-era Los Angeles punks The Skulls. Then he started up the rock group Prima Donna, moving to center stage as lead singer. Prima Donna toured relentlessly, slowing down only to knock out a few records along the way & strike up a band-romance with Green Day who took them on tour a few times. That connection led to Kevin joining forces on guitar with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong on two side-hustle bands over the years; Foxboro Hot Tubs (in 2008) and The Longshot (in 2018). In 2019, Kevin joined the Green Day band as touring guitarist/backing vocalist. I was at Dodger Stadium the last time I saw Kevin Preston. There he was, that sweet kid from the Valley who I met at the turn of the century when we were on the Warped Tour together, now plying the boards at Chavez Ravine with Green Day. Man, the fuckin’ Beatles played their 2nd to last show ever there back in 1966! But along with all that stadium rock, our boy is now moonlighting as a solo artist & going back to the basics.... So, dig these new numbers & enjoy the ride, baby!

During their hiatus, System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian released several records as a solo musician. His second studio album Imperfect Harmonies was released in 2010 through Reprise Records and his own label Serjical Strike. It followed up his critically acclaimed 2007 solo debut Elect The Death. Tankian on the sound of his album: “I have been calling the music ‘electro-orchestral-jazz-rock’ because it has all of those aspects in prominence within the songs”. The album in its entirety was produced by Tankian himself at his home studio in Los Angeles. It features two singles, “Left Of Center” and “Reconstructive Demonstrations”.
