Secret Vault is a new and already essential edit label from what is rumoured to be a group of Far Eastern otakus - a collective term in Japanese for obsessive interests in niche hobbies, in this case, disco. This second drop kicks off with the impossibly joyous and uplifting A-side, with trilling strings that just go up and up and up as the funky drums and elastic male vocals match that energy. Flip it over for an equally euphoric B-side with funky, knotted bass riffs, instrumental grooves and a steamy female vocal. Both are no-brainers for anyone looking to inject big heart into their sets.

LN013 presents a four-track electro compilation entitled Network Not Found. On the A1, Watts provides an electro-funk workout reminiscent of early Kraftwerk. Modulating basslines, delayed breakbeats, and haunting synths call back to early tropes of the sound while contributing to and reinventing the style. LA's 5tr8tch debuts his future classic, "Sleight of Hand." This track delivers tight 808 programming and unique sound design that takes the listener on a timeless journey. Pulling from the Teknotika archives, GiGi Galaxy provides a rare DAT recording from 1997. The track's growling bassline, warm 808 beats, and experimental sound design take the listener on an ever-changing journey.

Back in the day, it received support from prominent artists such as Ralph Lawson, Silver City, Fred Everything, Inland Knights, and David Duriez. Di Saronno hails from Italy and brings plenty of jack to his house sounds, as well as hints of fiery disco and an always timeless outlook. Ira James' Vessel Recordings Group is a perfect home for that sort of tackle and his 'Deus Ex Machina' EP kicks off with a funked-up and medical groove that's choppy and warmed through with some lo-fi and jazzy chords. 'Savoir Faire' is a still raw but has more breezy vibes with sultry spoken word samples and 'Keep It Real' then brings a clean, more punchy Keri Chandler-style house bounce. 'Planet 303' is a choppy closer with a monstrous bassline that brings the filth down below US garage drums. Well-crafted house that cannot be missed.

The irreversible Monsieur Van Pratt is back with more edit magic on a new 12" that offers up a sharp transatlantic pairing aimed squarely at late-night selectors. He begins with 'What You Got', which is all tight groove science and polished uplift, before 'Disco Woman' retools a rare source into driving, peak-time tackle laden with soul. On the flip, Rob Castillo brings Afro-leaning firepower as 'Zig Zag Eoh' rides hypnotic percussion and loose funk swagger, while 'Good Time Woman' signs off with an irresistible strut. Potent weaponry as ever from this always naughty but nice label.

Long-running event series Point inaugurates its new label with the debut EP by co-owner Laimonas. These four tracks draw on the weighty lineage of EBM and electro to evoke fragile mental states and their sublimation into cathartic dancefloor experience. ‘Ček’ is a brooding, almost military opener, its implacable beat tempered by expressive synth work and a striking mid-track break. ‘Fusion Glasses’ gets funkier, with ricocheting shards of percussion and jazzy keys, while ‘Editional’ leans darker, its roiling textures punctured by cosmic fanfares. Moods & Grooves Records proudly announces Turn-A-Round, the long-awaited return of D. Wynn & The R-Tyme Production. Marking his first release since 2002 on KMS Records, D. Wynn reconnects with the deeply soulful Detroit sound that defined his earlier work—timeless, emotive, and built for the dancefloor.

At the center of the release is “Love Ain’t Easy”, a heartfelt, soul-driven track featuring vocals from Record Time favorite Lavell Williams. The song carries special significance as Williams’ final known musical recording prior to his passing in 2018, giving the record both emotional weight and historical importance. The EP also includes “Use Me (U Turn Remix)”, a fresh take on R-Tyme’s most recognized work—previously reimagined by Carl Craig—alongside “Funk N The Drums,” a raw, percussion-heavy cut driven by deep funk and rhythmic intensity.

A foundational figure in Detroit’s electronic music movement, D. Wynn was instrumental in shaping the culture as part of the legendary Music Institute era, alongside pioneers such as Derrick May, Alton Miller, and Chez Damier. As one half of R-Tyme with Derrick May, he helped deliver seminal recordings including “Use Me” and “Illusion/R-Theme” on Transmat, leaving a lasting imprint on the global electronic music landscape.

This is more than a comeback. It’s a continuation of a legacy.

Jorge Ben is someone who needs no introduction. Since his first hits in the early 60s, this the greatest icons of the greatest icons of Brazilian pop music. His anthems 'Mais Que Nada' or 'Pais Tropical' are among two of the most ever listened Brazilian songs of all time. Ben's self-titled 1969 album is a true samba-soul masterpiece from one of Brazil's most creative voices. This isn't your typical late-'60s LP: Jorge Ben blends the hypnotic swing of samba with funk, psychedelia, and sun-soaked soul in a way that feels both classic and ahead of its time. Released in November 1969, this was Jorge Ben's sixth studio record, and his first back with the Philips label after a creative hiatus. He recorded it with the tight-knit, percussive groove of Trio Mocoto -- whose rhythms lock in beautifully with Ben's laid-back guitar and vocals. On top of that, the album features lush orchestral arrangements from Jose Briamonte and Rogerio Duprat, adding a soaring, psychedelic dimension to Ben's sound. Standout tracks? You've got the joyous anthem 'Pais Tropical', a perfect celebration of Brazilian life.



Then there's 'Take It Easy My Brother Charles', a socially conscious number that tells the story of a rebellious sailor -- Ben weaves in themes of race, identity, and resilience. If a job's worth doing. QED Recordings boss Thomas Cox takes the helm for three very different tracks that arrive united in their refusal to follow the rules. 'Saboteur' glories in stompy drum machine action and handclap snares, wielding a hefty, chunky funkiness. 'Boxcutter' is a nice vignette of looped up hip-hop beats, while 'Lizardbrain' is a nicely frazzled bleep workout that manages to be quite playable but also slightly eccentric. All three are good stuff, from a label well worth keeping a regular eye on.
