p:m is delighted to welcome Kumarachi to the fold - a Nottingham-based artist with a deep catalogue steadily built over the past 11+ years. For the label’s first 10” vinyl cut, Kumarachi teams up with his old friend, the wonderful Liam Bailey, for some rudeboy pressure on the a side, while flying solo for the b.

Tracklist:
A. On Sight: snappy snares, snarling bass, and shifting percussion meet the dulcet tones of Liam Bailey, who turns in a different kind of original dancehall style vocal that gets people skanking and swaying.

B. Cast No Shadow: a heavy-hitting track of pummelling breaks and beats, heavy bass, dub fx, and synth stabs, reminiscent of Star Wars’ X-wings in space.

In Kumarachi’s own words: “On Sight was just a loop when I sent it to Liam, then arranged and built around his vocals. I played it to a couple of people for feedback and to test out, it luckily found its way to DJ Flight via Sweetpea, so a big thanks to her too. Both myself and Liam felt play:musik is the perfect label for On Sight, with what Flight stands for musically and culturally, there’s a definite alignment within the lyrical content aswell. It’s a perfect fit. Cast No Shadow was written later and specifically for this release to contrast and complement the flip. It actually came together quite quickly - referencing classic combinations, whilst hopefully sounding fresh for 2026.”

* Kuttin Edge arrives on p:m with (115), a musically adventurous set that draws from a range of influences - West African funk, UK and US electronics, Autonomic moods, minimal techno, and Brutalism; while a focus on analogue feel, overdubbing, and textural detail processes tie it together. An interesting, experimental, yet firmly dancefloor friendly EP.

* Tracklist:
A1. Onyeabor: a unique track full of vintage-sound synths, bright melodic lines, Moog-style arpeggios, and rhythms built on a CR78, layered with live drums, tambourines, and bass guitar. Disco funk samples and fx add texture, alongside heavy overdubbing. Inspired by early William Onyeabor aesthetics.

A2. Dark Horse: Dark Horse: an atmospheric arrangement of phase-y pads reminiscent of the peak Autonomic era, filtered through the abstract lens of artists like Actress or King Britt. The pacing and negative space give the tune a weighty but airy feel, punctuated by heavy toms and documentary-style foley. Soulfully cosmic.

B1. Loop Me: polyrhythmic arpeggios, swirling delays, unstable harmonic structure, and chromatic movement form a tense, shifting progression. Built around a single bell sample, the track is reshaped through layering, modulation, subtle changes in texture, and filtered transitions. A techno stepper.

B2. Geiger Scale: experiments with playful but controlled randomness, minimal structure and off-grid sequencing. The idea centres on a toy synth with loose notes and laidback groove formed of irregular, rhythmic patterns. Geiger Scale perfects restraint as the arrangement bubbles along with sparse melodies. Smokey and potent.

Heavily supported by Flight for years, we’re extremely excited to at last welcome the inimitable Quartz to p:m, who serves up a sublime 4-tracker for our 10th single. Deeper and more emotionally reflective than previous Quartz releases, this is transcendental music that takes you to outer space and beyond…

Tracklist:
A1. W.Y.N: cosmic pads, jungle-y breaks, and a colossal bassline evoke images of Jupiter and molten lava, while a seductive vocal riff you’ll hum for days weaves in and out. A dance floor favourite.

A2. Taking Me Down: tight rolling beats, sparkly vox, filtered fx, and bass snarls sound like a tug of war between Venus and Mars. Straight up D&B produced alongside Quartz’s childhood friend, Pennygiles.

B1. Trauma Response: diving further into Techno- and Autonomic-inspired territory, this title track is best described by Paul Woolford aka Special Request “Man this tune is f***ing nuts. Reminds me of Black Dog and half of Detroit but through our UK lens, but totally NOW.”

B2. What Is Real Love: an orchestral intro replete with timpani and violins gives way to the big question - what is real love? - almighty bass weight, and a healing, warm golden sun feel. Simply majestic.

Some 14 years since last releasing, play:musik, the label founded by DJ Flight in 2005 is back with fresh tunes and a new look for ’24! First up - Geordie new-gen junglist, Nectax, who’s refined his style by drawing inspiration from mid-‘90s deep atmospheric jungle and US footwork flavours. The Body Talk EP features 4 tracks that distinctly tie together - pristinely produced, bass heavy, future-facing music that respects the roots and foundation.

* Tracklist:
A1. Body Talk: classic amen break fused with interesting drum edits, smooth synths, a huge vocal and driving bassline (wait for the 2nd drop). An underground anthem thanks to Nia Archives’ strong support.

A2. Twin Turbo: bouncy footwork-jungle mixed with fun techno vibes, tight percussion and squelchy sounds. Rolls very nicely in the mix. Supported heavily by Sully and Mantra.

B1. No Such Luck: a murky rumbling intro with grime sound and haunting vocal leads into a speaker-troubling drop packed with funk-fuelled breaks. Certified modern jungle stepper and firm Flight favourite.

B2. Sentinel Runner: smokey sci-fi feel, electro b-boy stylings, and big bottom end make this the perfect EP closing track. Recently featured in Om Unit’s great MISSIONQUEST mix series.
