Slaughter in the Vatican is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Exhorder. It was released on October 23, 1990 through Roadrunner Records. The album received favourable reviews, and saw the band being compared to heavy metal legends Pantera. AllMusic noted Exhorder’s “death metal-style double kick drums, chugging guitar riffs played at both slow and blistering tempos, and, to top it all off, the gruff but very expressive lead vocals of frontman Kyle Thomas”. The album was inducted into the Decibel Magazine Hall of Fame in 2018.

Needle Paw is the first solo album by Nai Palm, the lead singer and composer of R&B future soul outfit Hiatus Kaiyote. A two-time Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and musician from Melbourne, Australia, Nai Palm is a composer, instrumentalist, producer, vocalist and poet who approaches all of these self-taught disciplines with an intuitive, infectious grace. This gift has sent her and her band Hiatus Kaiyote on a journey to sculpt songs that have been received and treasured across the globe. Their success set the stage for Nai’s first solo effort.

1989. The album has an uncharacteristically gritty sound, featuring some of the darkest musical tracks that Ice-T ever released. Instead of focusing heavily on gangsta rap, Ice-T made First Amendment issues the album’s dominant theme. Setting the album’s tone is the opener “Shut Up, Be Happy”, featuring Dead Kennedy’s Jello Biafra. There are a few examples of first-rate gangsta rap - including “The Hunted Child” and the chilling “Peel Their Caps Back” as well as some humoristic raps on “My Word Is Bond” and “The Girl Tried to Kill Me”. Dog Eat Dog is an American band founded in Bergen County, New Jersey. All Boro Kings is their first full-length album, released in 1994. It is the first time they brought their trademark saxophone sound to the foreground on singles like “If These Are Good Times, “Who’s The King” and “No Fronts”, of which the latter two became their biggest hits and received heavy rotation on MTV. The band were even voted Breakthrough Artists of the Year at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Dog Eat Dog became highly popular, especially in Europe, where they played large festivals and arena-sized shows. The songs released from All Boro Kings also charted on Europe’s top forty heavy metal charts.

Tony Joe White scored big with 1969’s “Polk Salad Annie” from the album Black & White MOVLP989 and he was having success as a songwriter too: “Rainy Night In Georgia” was a huge hit for Brook Benton in 1970.

His self-titled third album (1971) finds the “Swamp Fox” tempering his bluesy rockers with a handful of introspective, soul-dripping ballads and introducing horn and string arrangements for the first time. The addition of the Memphis Horns and other Muscle Shoals session men really worked well for the album. Many of the songs will remind the listener just how turbulent the cultural climate of the late 60’s and early 70’s was in the U.S. Songs like “The Change”, “Black Panther Swamps” and “I Just Walked Away” (the album’s first single) are testament to the era.

Itaipu, written by American composer Philip Glass, were commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Along with The Light (1987), they marked Glass’s continuation of a symphonic trilogy of “portraits of nature” as he had recently turned to making orchestral music. The composition pays a beautiful homage to the Itaipu Dam, which is the world’s largest hydroelectric dam built on the Paraná River between Paraguay and Brazil. The text was written in Guaraní, and translated by Daniela Thomas. The piece was first performed in 1989. This LP also includes The Canyon on the D-side, which was first performed in 1988 and commissioned by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

Emile Mosseri is an American composer, pianist, singer and producer based in Los Angeles. He has scored films and series including The Last Black Man In San Francisco, Kajillionaire, HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and Season 2 of Amazon’s Homecoming. Emile is a member of the indie-rock band The Dig.

The Pianist is a 2002 biographical drama film, directed by Roman Polanski. It is based on the autobiographical book The Pianist, a World War II memoir by the Polish-Jewish pianist and composer Władysław Szpilman. The film was a co-production between France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Poland.

The Pianist was met with significant critical praise and received multiple awards and nominations. It was awarded the Palme d’Or at the 2002
Cannes Film Festival. It’s New York in the 1930s. As he has more and more trouble putting up with his bickering parents, his gangster brother and the family jewelry store, Bobby Dorfman feels like he needs a change of scenery. He decides to go and try his luck in Hollywood where his high-powered agent uncle Phil hires him as an errand boy.

In Hollywood he soon falls in love, but unfortunately the girl has a boyfriend. Bobby settles for friendship – up until the day the girl knocks at his door, telling him her boyfriend just broke up with her. All of a sudden Bobby’s life takes a new turn, and a very romantic one at that.

The soundtrack features a great collection of the music from the 1930’s. The music is featured prominently in the movie and has been chosen by Woody Allen himself and features newly recorded jazz standards by Grammy Award winners Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks and classic recordings from Ben Selvin, Benny Goodman and Count Basie.

Woody Allen says about the soundtrack: “The soundtrack consists of music from the
1930s since that’s when the picture takes place. Most of the material is Richard Rodgers and [Lorenz] Heart, who was very dominant in those years and Lorenz Heart has that bitter sweet romantic quality that defines the spirit of the movie itself.”

Nada Surf are an American alternative rock band formed in the 1990s in New York. High/Low is their debut studio album, released in 1996 to positive reviews. All tracks were written by frontman Matthew Caws and bassist Daniel Lorca. Combining indie punk with grunge, emo and even pop, High/Low is a record full of high quality riffs and catchy melodies. It contains the smash hit single “Popular”, which reached the top 10 in several countries and remains a classic song among fans of alternative music.

Infernal Love is the third studio album by Irish alternative metal band Therapy?. It was released in 1995, just one year after its successful predecessor Troublegum. Infernal Love proved to be a success as well: even though its sound marked a dramatic shift from previous releases, the album was lauded by critics. Kerrang! magazine gave it
5 out of 5 stars, as did Q Magazine. The album features the international hit single “Diane”, a cover of the American punk band Hüsker Dü, which is noted for being laden with ambient strings. “Misery”, “Stories”, “Loose” and “Bad Mother” were also released as singles in different markets.

What Did You Expect from The Vaccines? is the debut studio album by English indie rock band The Vaccines. It was released on 11 March

2011, entering the UK Albums Chart at #4 and going on to become the biggest-selling debut by a band in 2011.

The Vaccines were formed in West London in 2010 by Justin Hayward- Young (lead vocals, guitar), Freddie Cowan (lead guitar, vocals), Árni Árnason (bass, vocals) and Pete Robertson (drums, vocals). The band have released four studio albums and have sold more than two million records worldwide. Total Control is the debut solo album by John Norum, known for being the guitarist and one of the founding members of the Swedish rock band Europe. Originally released in 1987, Total Control was dedicated to Tommy Östervik, one of Norum’s friends and heroes, who had recently passed away in a drowning accident. It was produced by Thomas Witt, who was Norum’s stepfather. The album features nine original songs, including the singles “Let Me Love You” and “Love Is Meant to Last Forever”. Norum recorded two cover songs as well: the Vinnie Vincent Invasion cover “Back on the Streets”, which was also released as a single, and Thin Lizzy’s “Wild One”, a bonus track that also appears on this LP. The album is available on coloured vinyl for the first time; it’s a limited edition of 1500 copies on silver marbled vinyl.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 30 years since Candy Dulfer rose to fame with her high-profile collaborations with Dave Stewart (the worldwide number 1 smash “Lily was here”) and of course the legendary Prince, whose tongue-in-cheek recommendation (“When I want sax, I call Candy”) in the “Partyman” video made the world sit up and notice the young, glamorous and talented sax player at his side. Candy has been fortunate to work - both in the studio and on stage - with some of the biggest names in music, including Van Morrison, Maceo Parker, Sheila E., Mavis Staples, Lionel Richie, Beyoncé, Pink Floyd, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, and many others. The Legend of 1900 is a 1998 Italian drama film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore and starring Tim Roth, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Mélanie Thierry. The film is inspired by Novecento, a monologue by Alessandro Baricco. The Legend Of 1900 was nominated for a variety of international award, winning several for its soundtrack, including a Golden Globe for Best Original Score - Motion Picture. Prince Far I was a Jamaican reggae DJ and producer, and a well-known member of the Rastafarian movement. Known for his distinctive voice. Far frequently used his music to criticise the Jamaican government. On his ninth album Jamaican Heroes, he collaborated with musicians like Roots Radics and The Flying Lizards. The album was mixed by Anthony “Crucial Bunny” Graham at Studio One in Jamaica. Each song has something special, and revolves around topics that were close to Prince Far‘s heart. That makes this record a must have for everyone who is interested in reggae music and Rastafarian culture. It’s available as a very limited edition of 750 copies on orange vinyl.

Cuby + Blizzards were a Dutch blues band founded by vocalist Harry Muskee and guitarist Eelco Gelling in 1964. The band were active until Muskee’s death in 2011. Simple Man was released in 1971 as the bands ninth studio album. A perfect example of the band’s signature blues rock sound, the album was well received by fans and charted in the Dutch Album Top 100. Simple Man contains the single “Back Street”, which also charted in the Dutch Top 40.

Spinning Coin is a worthy successor to the Bluesbreakers’ previous album Wake Up Call. The newly recruited guitarist Buddy Whittington is brilliant. His fluid, virtuoso playing adds an exciting dimension to already strong material.

Somehow John Mayall, often dubbed the “grandfather of British blues”, still had the fire in his belly to record a strong album almost 40 years after he began his storied career. The album is peppered with some great work, certainly on a par with Wake Up Call. “Ain’t No Brakeman”, “Long Story Short”, “Voodoo Music”, “Fan The Flames” and of course the longest and last track of the album “Remember This” are all very much worth a listen.

The legendary Dutch progressive rock band Earth And Fire, with foxy singer Jerney Kaagman and studio wizards Chris and Gerard Koerts, rose to fame in the early 1970’s with a non-stop string of top 10 singles including “Seasons”, “Memories“ and “Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight“. This Music On Vinyl expanded edition includes three bonus tracks: “Lost Forever”, “Invitation”, “Song Of The Marching Children (single version)”, all of which were not available on their original 1971 album.

Band Of Brothers is the 63rd studio album by country music singer songwriter Willie Nelson. Produced by Buddy Cannon, the album was recorded by Nelson in October 2013 and March 2014. The sessions took place at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios with additional recordings at Pedernales Studio in Austin, Texas and The Hit Factory Criteria in Miami, Florida.

Nine of the fourteen tracks of the album consist of newly written compositions by Nelson, the most included in one of his album releases since 1996’s Spirit. The album includes covers of Vince Gill’s “Whenever You Come Around”, Gordie Sampson’s “Songwriter” and a duet with Jamey Johnson of Billy Joe Shaver’s “The Git Go”.

The video for the first single, “The Wall” premiered on May 6, 2014 by Rolling
Stone. The single “Bring It On” was later premiered on June 3 by ESPN Music.

Rydim Driven is the fifth studio album by Jamaican singer Jimmy Riley, produced by legendary production duo Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare and released in 1981 through their label Taxi/Mango. Way too often overlooked, this record features Riley’s signature mix of reggae, ska and rocksteady. It contains the hits “My Woman’s Love” and “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love”.

This 40th anniversary edition of the album is part of Music On Vinyl’s reggae series, containing the SELECTED REGGAE CLASSICS sticker on the seal.

Solution were a Dutch rock band that were active from 1970 to 1983, with an additional reunion taking place in 2006. Solution is their impressive self-titled debut album, which was recorded over just three consecutive days in 1971. Blending psychedelic and prog with jazz, Solution created a unique sound. Some of the tracks, such as “Koan” and “Circus Circumstances” (the latter of which was based on a composition by French composer Jacques Ibert), see the band playing frantically as an ensemble, while the shorter and more peaceful “Preview” provides a nice change of pace. The theme of “Preview” ended up being used on later releases by Solution as well.

Priest=Aura is the eighth studio album by Australian alternative rock band The Church. The album was named after front man Steve Kilbey’s misreading of a Spanish fan’s English vocabulary notes (since ‘priest’ is translated as ‘cura’ in Spanish). It is the first record they recorded with drummer Jay Dee Daugherty, famous for his work with Patti Smith. His addition to the band brought a fresh, almost jazz-like sound to their music. The album was heavily influenced by psychedelic rock and dream pop, and features the songs “Dome”, “Ripple” and “Feel”. Both the band as well as their fans consider Priest=Aura to be an artistic high point for The Church.

Death Walks Behind You is the second studio album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. It is commonly thought of as the archetypal Atomic Rooster album, recorded by the 'classic' line-up of Vincent Crane, John Du Cann and Paul Hammond.

It is, critically and commercially, their most successful album and often hailed as a classic of the progressive rock genre. It also produced the hit single Tomorrow Night' (UK #11), which became one of the band's best-known songs. The album's cover features the William Blake monotype Nebuchadnezzar.

The title track was covered on record in 1992 by Paradise Lost, in 2000 by Bigelf (on their album Money Machine) and in 2012 by Swedish death metal band NonExist.

A repackaging and remastering job restores the original artwork in all its gatefold glory.

Reggae artist Ijahman aka Trevor Sutherland released his “Are We A Warrior” album in 1979. Growing up in Trenchtown, Jamaica before emigrating to England aged
17 where he joined The Vibrations and later forming Youth And Rudie And The Shell Shock. “Are We A Warrior” and “Moulding (Whip That Tarantula)” are classic roots reggae songs and the album was produced by the legendary Jamaican musician Geoffrey Chung. “Are We A Warrior” is part of Music On Vinyl SELECTED REGGAE CLASSICS series, and it includes this sticker on the seal.

RO-D-YS was a Dutch beat psych-beat and pop rock band that was active in the 1960s. The band’s original lineup consisted of Harry Rijnbergen on vocals and guitar, Joop Hulzebos on guitar and keys, Wiechert Kenter on bass, trumpet and vibraphone and Berend Groen on drums. Their debut album Just Fancy was released in 1967 and was met with critical acclaim. Produced by the much sought-after producer Hans van Hemert, the album contains the top 10 hit single “Just Fancy”. The band broke up a few years later after several changes in personnel. Just Fancy is now available on coloured vinyl for the first time. It is a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on red vinyl.

Earth, Wind & Fire’s sixth studio album That’s the Way of the World rose to No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Soul Albums charts. It was also the soundtrack for a 1975 motion picture of the same name. They won a Rock Music Award for the album in the category of Best Rhythm and Blues Album. The album is filled with gems ranging from the sweat funk of “Shining Star” to the gorgeous ballad “Reasons”.

The American rock/metal band Alter Bridge released their third album AB III in 2009. It was a new venture in which they combined progressive metal and hard rock. The album received acclaim from many music critics. Rob Laing from MusicRadar called it “one of the guitar albums of the year” and Rick Florino from Artistdirect gave the record a perfect 5 out of 5 score and said “it’s a sprawling masterpiece that illuminates just how brilliant this band truly is”. “Isolation”, the band’s most successful single to date, is one of the many highlights the band recorded for this album. It doesn’t matter if you like to call it a metal or a hard rock album, because it’s the music that speaks for itself.

Alter Bridge was formed by Creed bandmembers Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall. They recruited vocalist Myles Kennedy, and have since released five albums, all of which charted in both the UK as well as the US charts.

Raymond Scott (1908-1994) was a renowned bandleader, composer and pianist from the 1930s to the 1950s. Many of his playful riffs, originally recorded from
1937 to 1939 by the Raymond Scott Quintette, are genetically encoded in every earthling, having covered by many artists while also being adapted for cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, The Ren and Stimpy Show, The Simpsons and Animaniacs.

His Soothing Sounds for Baby (SSFB) trilogy showcased Scott as a pioneer of electronic music. His ambient minimalism ultimately became a source of inspiration for musicians like Terry Riley, Phillip Glass, Kraftwerk and Brian Eno. But SSFB couldn’t prepare the world for the exotic artifacts found on Manhattan Research Inc. MRI, first issued on Basta in 2000, contains 69 tracks recorded from 1956 to 1969—over two hours’ worth of Scott’s ground-breaking electronic work in adult dimensions. Forays into abstract musique concrete are heard alongside film soundtrack collaborations with a young pre-Muppet Jim Henson, and pan-galactic sonics seemingly beamed down from hovering UFOs. In addition, MRI presents some of the first TV and radio commercials to feature electronic music. MRI also features many of Scott’s instrumental inventions.

The Crown is a drama television series, created and written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for Netflix Original. The show tells the biographical story about the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. The fourth season features Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, as the story traces her life from her wedding 1947 to the present day. The Remixes is a compilation album by The Stone Roses, which features remixes by various producers including Utah Saints and Paul Oakenfold. Various techno luminaries ply their skills reworking some of those early classic songs, and it is immediately clear that the Roses, even beyond the genius of their songs, were a preeminent dance band.

John Norum might be best known for being the guitarist in the Swedish hard rock band Europe, but he has simultaneously maintained a successful solo career. Face The Truth is his second album, released in 1992, five years after debut Total Control. The record features Glenn Hughes (of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple fame) on vocals for several songs, as well as guest appearances by Joey Tempest (Europe) and Mikkey Dee (Motörhead). A true hard rock all- star effort, that also includes Norum’s cover version of Thin Lizzy’s song “Opium Trail”. Pugh’s Place was a Dutch progressive rock band formed in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. They recorded their debut album West One in 1971 and since then it has been a collector’s item for fans of the Dutch progressive-rock sound. The album was produced by legendary Dutch vocalist and composer Boudewijn de Groot and features a wonderful cover of The Beatles classic “Drive My Car”. Frank Nuyens, alias Rainman, was the guitarist for bands like Circus and a founding member of Q65. His solo debut album from 1971 is a slice of psychedelic folk & rock sounds and features fellow Q65 member Jay Baar, Dick Beekman and Eelco Gelling (Cuby & The Blizzards). Rainman is a very rare and hard to find album from the Dutch psychedelic

Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry & The Upsetters’ classic Return of Django. Lee Perry had already been making name in the Jamaican music scene for about a decade before Return of Django hit the UK charts in 1969. Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry was a pioneer of dub music and worked together with artists such as Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Clash and The Beastie Boys. This legend turned 84! this year and he’s still performing and recording music.
