In the past, DVTR has definitely been shaking up the Canadian punk scene, racking up dazzling reviews, best of 2023 lists, soldout shows and some bootlicking awards for their first ever EP "BONJOUR". Somewhere between the B-52s and fast DIY punk à la Jay Reatard, Demi Lune & Jean Divorce's troublemaking duo pours out its bile on often surprising, sometimes awkward, and always salvatory soundscapes. Its unpredictable stage antics break all language barriers, already taking the band on stages everywhere from Mexico to the UK. DVTR is French-speaking, female-fronted, short and not sweet at all: it repeats, it repeats, it repeats - that's the only way to get the message across. Vasectomy for all, ACAB, Rhum coke and MDMA, etcetera, etcetera. A simple fuck off to anyone who'd need a reminder before everything burns? As the legendary magazine CULT MTL recently said: "This is a live band doing what great live bands do, live: entertaining, f*cking with people's heads, having fun, and showing what they've got - crazy licks - without showing off."

A mixture of electro, techno, house and nods to the soundtrack works of John Carpenter

Miami Beach Witches, which is the name of the album, has a sound that has been inspired by the goth and emo music culture from the 90's and 2000. Sonically filled with the high and lows of the teenage angst in a mixture of electro, techno, house and nods to the soundtrack works of John Carpenter. Visually wise, the world is filled with female teenage witches practicing witchcraft while having to deal with their everyday school drama. Sort of like the world depicted in the Netflix series: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but in a more modern setting. It's faded, blurry and sometimes smoky like the mind of a teenager trying to deal with his life in high school.

In the album's music we find vintage influences, recalling the faded charm of 70s erotica, warm tones also rooted in psychedelia, disco, yéyé, and French chanson. The Montreal trio Le Couleur, created by Laurence Giroux-Do (vocals), Patrick Gosselin (bass), and Steeven Chouinard (drums), delivers rich and irresistibly danceable performances. Le Couleur polished their sound until it shined as bright as the late Studio 54's spotlights with EPs Voyage Love (2013) and Dolce Désir (2015), and then P.O.P. (2016), their critically acclaimed debut album. Thanks to precious advice from Giorgio Moroder, with whom the band had the opportunity of sharing the stage, Le Couleur recorded their new album adopting a completely different approach. Concorde takes its name from the legendary Franco-British airplane from 1965, nicknamed the "beautiful white bird" for its sleek and modern design. This avant-garde project that ended in tragedy has always held a certain fascination for Laurence Giroux-Do ; a deadly "crash" that inspired in her a sense of macabre sensuality. Inspired by artists such as Steve Moore and Aphex Twin, the producer develops a sound that is both brooding and nostalgic, mixing expertly influences ranging from German techno to vintage horror and sci-fi soundtracks. To celebrate the 5th anniversary of his EP Hotline Miami II, Das Mörtal released a limited-edition vinyl of the EP on Record Store Day (April 13th) 2019 with three previously unreleased songs featured on the album. The object is eagerly awaited by the artist’s fans and its copies will disappear quickly.

Voluptuous and catchy, Bronswick creates hauntingly electro songs and realistic sound fiction, with hints of both pastel and charcoal. Together, immersed in a creative connection revealed by their first EP Errances (Lisbon Lux Records), Catherine Coutu and Bertrand Pouyet are creating timeless pop sounds, between new-wave urban electro and synth-pop.
