In 2005, Andrew Bird was a previously unimaginable combination of virtuoso violinist, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and whistler. With that year’s album The Mysterious Production of Eggs, Bird minted a new sound that continues to be imitated today.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Mysterious Production of Eggs, Andrew Bird is releasing a very special boxset featuring a 54 page book including photographs, special surprises, and two essays: one written by Andrew himself, and another by Anders Lindall examining the circuitous and fascinating process Andrew and collaborators took to record the album.
The boxset also includes the original release of the album, alongside two LPs of never before released material, on black vinyl. On one LP, a one-to-one playthrough of the album but of demos, live cuts, and alternate versions. The third LP includes more never released rarities on Side A, and a selection of songs from the original album performed by Andrew with the Nu Deco Ensemble. The original cover artist has created all-new artwork for the anniversary piece.

Talulah’s Tape is the debut offering from magnetic Midwest-jangle collective Good Flying Birds. Across a patchwork mixtape of stripped-down home recordings that span the independent-guitar spectrum, the band delivers colorful, intricate pop songs perched between the immediacy of DIY punk and the intimate sweetness of twee. Breakbeats, memes, and noise glue everything together, making the album feel as chronically online as it is timeless.

Originally released on cassette in January 2025 by Midwest-punk legend Martin Meyers’s Rotten Apple label, the tape sold more than 300 copies in under a month and quickly became an out-of-print and coveted item. Meyers called it “certified catnip for popheads.” Now, with a refined track list and a fresh master from Greg Obis, Talulah’s Tape returns on LP and CD via Carpark and Smoking Room in October 2025.

While production and approach vary, a through-line of sensitive self-contemplation rests on bright, scrappy guitars and hyperactive melodic bass. Opener “Down on Me” rides a buoyant bass line while jangling guitars frame reflections on overcoming trauma: “I see you in the mirror every time I cry / I hear your voice every time I try.” Next, the guitars trade twinkling counter-melodies on “I Care for You,” pairing sugary, lovestruck lyrics with effervescent strums: “You catch me when I fall / You build me up so tall.”

The rosy grin occasionally twists into a wicked smirk. “Dynamic” warns, “You used to paint the face, but now you’re just the clown,” while “Glass” asks, “Is it lonely at the top when everyone follows the trend, and you hold the pen?” Both tracks brim with sparkling guitar interplay. By the closing, nearly five-minute “Last Straw,” Good Flying Birds stand far beyond conventional indie-pop or 4-track punk, unveiling a roller-coaster of unpredictable changes, vocal harmonies, and instrumental cross-talk.

Altogether, Talulah’s Tape is a pastel-yellow, candy-coated shell filled with thoughtful juxtapositions and melodic experiments. Standing on the same ground as idiosyncratic songwriters like Connie Converse and Daniel Johnston, Good Flying Birds find sweetness in sadness, tear stains on a colorful flower-print couch. Simultaneously, it’s packed with the scratchy guitars and vibrant rhythms of Scottish guitar groups like The Pastels, Orange Juice, and Josef K. It’s a tremendous opening statement from a band just getting started.

Transversales Disques proudly presents the first official LP reissue of "Deserted Palace", studio album written & performed by Jean Michel Jarre in 1972, during his work experience at G.R.M. (Groupe de Recherches Musicales).

In 1971, an order was placed with producer Francis Dreyfus to provide sound for public places such as airports and libraries. He decided to pass the project on to Jean-Michel, who had recently been signed by his record company.

These fifteen tracks are made with only two synthesizers (EMS VCS3 & Farfisa organ) in an experimental and very minimal style.

"It was a crazy album, totally homemade, with rhythms that I made in my student room, with a minimum of equipment and at the same time electronic sounds that I stole from the GRM where I went at night after stealing the keys to the studios. Maui Blue & Orchid Vinyl. Nachdem wir American Don mit (Steve) Albini fertiggestellt hatten, waren wir kurz davor, dass die Spannungen zwischen uns so groß wurden, dass wir uns trennen mussten. Ich (Eric) war überzeugt, dass wir bei den Aufnahmen die wahre Essenz der Songs verloren hatten. Es war keine einstimmige Entscheidung, mit Steve aufzunehmen. Wir haben das Album komplett mit Gitarrenloops geschrieben, und Team Storm & Stress wollte im Studio mit Pro Tools weitermachen, was sowohl zu dem passte, was wir machten, als auch zu dem, was wir erreichen wollten. Steve hatte gerade den großartigen A-Raum bei Electrical fertiggestellt, und Damon bestand darauf, dass wir dort die Drums aufnehmen würden. Er gab in dieser Frage nicht nach. Sobald wir dort ankamen, wurde uns klar, dass alle Songs, die wir mit unseren Pedalen in mehreren Overdubs geschrieben hatten, nur Mono-Gitarrenaufnahmen zuließen. Wir haben das Problem gelöst, indem wir die Songs zu einem einzigen Loop gespielt und alle Gitarren später überlagert haben, sodass ein volles Stereofeld entstand, das zu den grandiosen Drum-Aufnahmen von Steve passte. Dieser Ansatz hat unsere Spielweise total verändert. Das hat zwar magische Momente der Improvisation ermöglicht (Peter Criss Intro), aber als das Album fertig war, klang es aufgebläht und die Darbietungen waren träge. Ich war mir immer sicherer, dass der Sound des Akai Headrush und die Tempi, die er für Damon vorgab, das Herzstück dieser Songs waren. Ian stimmte mir zu. In einem gewagten letzten Versuch hatte ich die Idee, Greg Norman (der für Steve arbeitete!) anzurufen und ihn zu fragen, ob wir nach unseren nächsten Shows heimlich in sein Studio in S. Chicago kommen und das Album LIVE neu aufnehmen könnten. Es war ein riesiger Schritt, der niemals hätte funktionieren können, aber wie durch ein Wunder waren alle einverstanden, und wir versuchten es. Greg hat uns persönlich und professionell in unserer heißesten Phase eingefangen. Die Tempi sind schneller, und niemand hält sich zurück. Diese echten Live-Bänder zeigen die Songs genau so, wie wir sie auf Tour gespielt haben, wo sie zwischen Juni 1999 und Juli 2000 entstanden sind. Jetzt, 25 Jahre später, wurden die Greg-Norman-Aufnahmen entstaubt und digitalisiert. ‘Elevation’ is album eleven from High Focus Records founder and 1/4 of The Four Owls Fliptrix.

The latest instalment in a formidable run sees the lyricist further his vision of the world in the hope of elevating the collective mind and spirit of both artist and listener across 19-tracks.

Having worked with Forest DLG in some capacity across all of his records over the past fifteen years, from mixing and mastering, but also collaborating on multiple tracks as rapper / producer, it is surprising that it took so long for the pair to come together on a full-length collaborative project.

Fliptrix reached out to Forest with a view to creating something completely different from his previous boom bap heavy outing ‘Dragonfly’, he is always looking to advance his craft and take things higher, and after Forest responded with a pack of 70+ instrumentals the direction of travel became crystal clear. The result is an album designed to lift the listener into a higher state of consciousness and trigger conversations about the state of the world, in the hope of enacting positive change during tumultuous times.

Fliptrix’s vision and Forest DLG’s style feel perfectly aligned. The album is truly collaborative; Forest going away and creating the artwork inspired by Fliptrix’s otherworldly experiences with the Shipibo tribe in the rainforests of Peru; from the single covers, to the album cover and merchandise as Fliptrix focussed on writing.

After being out of print for a good number of years, we are making 15 titles out of our Elvis Presley back catalogue available again between August 2025 and February 2026. Each title will see two different editions: one on regular-coloured vinyl and one very limited on mix-coloured, marbled vinyl, both housed in deluxe sleeves with a linen look and feel.

Elvis 56 is a compilation originally released in 1996 containing 22 of Elvis' best tracks from his first year at RCA: five singles with five B-sides, five songs from his debut and six from his second LP plus a previously unreleased alternate take of "Heartbreak Hotel". The Boy and the Tree was composed after a visit to Yakushima Island, an outstandingly beautiful world heritage site off the southern tip of Japan, scored by a deep, lush and ancient ravine, home of the ancient 7000-year old ‘Jōmon Sugi’. Tree. Also the inspiration for Miyazaki's epic anime Princess Mononoke, a conflict between the rampant greed and destructive force of humanity, and the stoic, mysterious fragility of nature.

This fleeting immersion in nature lent the album a profound introspection and mystery, and the its twelve tracks unfold in dream sequence, each drifting seamlessly into the next while still managing to steer the listener in myriad directions, from eerie butoh atmospheres, to ebullient raga, to desolate, cavernous chanson. The Boy And The Tree is definitely one of, if not the most, visually evocative and cinematic Yokota releases.

The next chapter in this series, 'Second Thoughts (Expanded Edition)', marks 50 years since Split Enz ventured to London to record with Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera in the producer's chair. This definitive 2LP set pairs the original 1976 mix, remastered from the original tapes, with a companion LP 'Wide Angle Enz' - a treasure trove of live recordings and alternate mixes, including a previously unreleased archival rough mix of '129 (Matinee Idyll)' which is exclusive to this release. Presented in the distinctive Australia/New Zealand sleeve featuring John Prew's band portrait, the album concludes with the hypnotic locked- groove of 'Mental Notes', mirroring the international version's striking finale. Pressed on two 140g vinyl, housed in a wide- spine sleeve with printed inner bags. Remastered from the original tapes by Phil Kinrade and overseen by Eddie Rayner, with lacquers cut by Harry Rudkins at AIR Studios.

Auch wenn die NWOBHM zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung von Elixirs »The Son Of Odin«, im Juli 1986, bereits Geschichte war, zählt das Album zu den besten Alben der Bewegung. Mit einer neuen Fassung ihrer hoch gelobten Single ‘Treachery (Ride Like The Wind)’, viele Jahre nach der ursprünglichen 7“, wurde »The Son Of Odin« vom englischen Terrorizer-Magazin als eines der Top 20 Power-Metal-Alben gekürt, während es das Sweden Rock im April 2010 als „Album-Klassiker des Monats“ auswählte. Elixir starteten 1983 in London. Die fünf Musiker nannten seinerzeit das erste Album von MSG sowie »British Steel« von Judas Priest sowie neuere Bands wie Mercyful Fate und Queensryche als ihre Haupteinflüsse. 1985 erschien die Debüt-Single ‘Treachery (Ride Like The Wind)’, die im Kerrang! von keinem Geringeren als Ronnie James Dio in einem Gastbeitrag abgesegnet wurde, was die Band anspornte, ihr erstes Album in Angriff zu nehmen. Das Resultat war »The Son Of Odin«, aufgenommen im Januar 1986 im The Lodge Studio von The Enid und sechs Monate später abgemischt. Nahezu überall folgten überschwängliche Kritiken, nicht zuletzt im Metal Forces, wo Dave Constable zu Protokoll gab: „Eine selbstfinanzierte LP, die so manche Veröffentlichung eines Major-Labels in den Schatten stellt.“ Constable resümierte: „Ich höre mir lieber »The Son Of Odin« an, als die hundertste Version von »Turbo« oder »Somewhere In Time«.“ Die 40th Anniversary Edition dieses unsterblichen NWOBHM-Klassikers beinhalt zusätzlich zum regulären Album die vollständige Session, von der die ‘Treachery (Ride Like The Wind)’-Single stammt, genauso wie das vorangegangene Demo und die BBC Friday Rock Show Session. Zudem erzählen aktuelle Interviews mit Gitarrist Phil Denton und Manager Seymour Mincer erzählen die Geschichte des Albums.

Jubiläumsedition inklusive dem Original Sonderlust Album und einer zweiten Disc mit zwei brandneuen, unveröffentlichten B-Seiten und einer ,Demo-arigato"-Version von Sonderlust mit frühen Demos jedes Songs. Die Doppel-LP erscheint auf farbigem Vinyl: "Bone Vinyl" (LP1) und "Gold Vinyl" (LP2). Vor zehn Jahren war Kishi Bashi nach jahrelangen Tourneen zu seinen gefeierten Alben ,151a" und ,Lighght" kreativ und emotional ziemlich ausgelaugt. Die orchestrale Ausgelassenheit, die seinen Sound früher geprägt hatte, begann zu verblassen, was ihn dazu brachte, seinen künstlerischen Zweck zu hinterfragen. Aus dieser Erschöpfung entstand ,Sonderlust" (2016), eine sehr persönliche Neuerfindung, die von Verletzlichkeit, analoger Wärme und spiritueller Ehrlichkeit geprägt ist. Ishibashi verzichtete auf kunstvolle Violinen-Loops und setzte stattdessen auf Vintage-Synthesizer und reduzierte Texturen, wodurch ein Album entstand, das vor souliger, menschlicher Energie nur so sprühte. Songs wie ,Say Yeah", ,Honeybody" und ,Ode to My Next Life" fingen sowohl den Schmerz als auch die Freude der Selbstfindung ein und verankerten seine üppige Fantasie in gelebter Erfahrung. Jetzt, mit seiner Neuauflage zum 10-jährigen Jubiläum, steht Sonderlust als ein entscheidendes Werk da - in dem Kishi Bashis schillernde Verspieltheit der Selbstbeobachtung und Verbundenheit Platz machte. Die Neuauflage zeigt ein überarbeitetes Artwork des ursprünglichen Cover-Künstlers Ssin Kim, das Wachstum und eine neue Perspektive symbolisiert. ,Wenn man jünger ist, kann die Welt überwältigend wirken", reflektiert Ishibashi. ,Mit zunehmendem Alter beginnt man, seinen Platz darin zu sehen."
