Vierfaches Vinyl (Frosted White Vinyl Colour) - oder CD-Box-Set, kuratiert von David Gedge, um vier kompromisslose Jahrzehnte The Wedding Present zu feiern. Nachdem sich die Alternative-Rock-Band The Lost Pandas aus Leeds Anfang der 1980er Jahre aufgelöst hatte, beschlossen Sänger/Gitarrist David Gedge und Bassist Keith Gregory, eine neue Gruppe zu gründen. 1985, inspiriert von Pop-Radio, Punk-Frechheit, The Velvet Underground und Davids ehemaligen Schulkameraden The Chameleons, gründeten sie The Wedding Present. Tuning the Wind was created in 2022 as an installation piece. Since then, it has been adapted into multichannel, 4DSOUND, and stereo installations, as well as performed live on numerous occasions around the world. The piece has a duration of 36 minutes and 15 seconds. For the vinyl pressing, it has been divided into two parts.

Composer Aimée Portioli, known professionally as Grand River, recorded various types of wind and then reworked them through layering and pitch adjustment to create a musical piece where the wind itself becomes a prepared instrument. At times, the sound of the wind is tuned to the 440 Hz reference, while at other times, the instruments are tuned to the sound of the wind. In Tuning the Wind, nature and music merge seamlessly. Synthesizers and wind recordings become indistinguishable, blending natural sounds with human-made instruments. The boundary between a gust of wind and an instrument-generated sound fades away. Human artistry and nature’s symphony merge to become one.

Wind is air in motion. It makes no sound until it encounters an object. The sounds it produces depend on the strength of the wind and the shape and material of the object it touches. When the wind blows, trees sway, buildings rattle, materials move, and sound waves are generated. Some believe that temperature changes create layers of air, and that the friction between them forms a unique sound—perhaps the true voice of the wind, which birds may be the only creatures capable of recognising. Sometimes the wind howls; at other times, it sings or whistles, shifting from a gentle murmur to an angry roar. The wind’s range of frequencies, tones, and timbres is vast and varied. Tuning the Wind is a piece about the wind, made with the wind—an abstract expression of our ongoing conversation with nature.

Back in print! Dead Moon's final album remastered with VERY radically improved sound and reissued here for the first time ever. 'Dead Ahead' is filled with all time great rockers and ballads. Some of the legendary band's heaviest work. The world's greatest rock band's swan song is not wasted - dark corridors are explored and conquered. Remastered from the original tapes with amazing new dynamics and the murk reduced to the noise layer it was meant to be.

Black Is Golden', the first full length release from Wyn Starks, isn't just the name of a record, it's his truth as a black man living in modern America. "I decided to call the album 'Black Is Golden' because throughout history black and brown people have gone through so much injustice in this country and yet contributed so much to society. I think it's important that we celebrate each other and all our differences." But the songs aren't all centered on social justice- the album features upbeat tracksk like "Circles" and "Dancing My Way" which showcase Stark's vocal range and sunny disposition; juxtoposed with "At The End Of The River", a deeply emotional track about the tragic loss of Wyn's twin brother. Starks' feels his journey to self-love is captured in this body of work. He shares, "I'm learning how to celebrate these accomplishments in my life and to love myself, flawa and all.

Through the folded sky to America

Ten albums in three years. That's still the cosmic mission of the Berlin post-kraut trio YELKA with Daniel Meteo, Christian Obermaier, and the namesake Yelka Wehmeier.

With the album "For," there was a Label change. After releasing three albums in 2023 with Maurice Summen, head of Fun In The Church they passed the label responsibilities to Karaoke Kalk. Karaoke Kalk is a friendly label founded in Cologne known for establishing the Berlin post-wende scene (fall of the wall scene).

The trio's fourth album was also created with Arne Berger at Popschutz Studio, and the team is definitely well-rehearsed. Instead of recording the planned tracks, the band decided to improvise the session, and all tracks, except for the krauty Doors cover "The Crystal Ship," were created in 5 days in the studio, mostly on the first or second take, but with significantly more overdubs - keyboards, backing vocals, second and third guitars, percussion, and piano. The sound of "For" has become warmer, and the album begins with a kind of 60s-Kinks feeling. Overall, the current record has become much more exuberant - like Alice in Wonderland, YELKA seem to want to restore innocence to things in the opener "Smile (Into Skies)," resulting in an uplifting hiking song for experimental outdoor bohemians.

The follow-up piece "The Boar" speaks to everyone from the north, south, west, and east and here YELKA encounter a horde of wild boars on their travels, before the vocals become hardly understandable and ghostly spooled in reverse, suddenly sounding like Damo Suzuki from CAN at the height of Tago-Mago times.

Finally, YELKA‘s "Crystal Ship," simply sails away with the wild boars into remote 4D worlds between the Cocteau Twins and X-Mal Deutschland.

In the first instrumental of the album "Is this enough?", the band reverse tracks like Jimi Hendrix in his Electric Ladyland, and we dive deeper and deeper into the endless sky until YELKA finally arrive on newly trodden sound paths with "MM" to their beginnings on their debut album "Nowhere Jive." At the popular intersection of post-rock and jazz, where guest singer Bela Hagel also likes to linger for a moment: "Sie wissen" (They know), he knows that too! Surely Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser would have had a lot of fun with his shamanistic singing on his "Kosmische Kuriere" label. The guitars sound like a desert, and the reverb reminds us of the expansive space in the opening track "Skies."

Finally, we land in Amerika, or rather, YELKA ponder the melancholic question of whether anyone still wants to travel to America with them, to the land of unlimited possibilities, the haven for artist souls all over the world. "Do you wanna dance?" Yelka Wehmeier finally asks, while a chorus in the best Sun Ra manner mantra-like repeats "Cold dogs, cool cats." The whole band sings. Everything sounds good.

In November 2021, Portland-born rapper Aminé released his latest project, TWOPOINTFIVE. The twelve-track release finds Aminé using the project to explore new sonic territory. This exploration is best evidenced by the project’s lead single "Charmander,” the video for which was lauded by GQ as the "Most Menswear-y Music Video of 2021" for its incredible styling and featured by Pitchfork as one of the best music videos of October 2021. After six months of anticipation, Aminé has prepared a vinyl offering for fans of the project to add to their collection for the very first time. Since its release, the album has amassed over 100 million streams and garnered praise from Billboard, Complex and Highsnobiety, in addition to the aforementioned support from Pitchfork and GQ. The vinyl will be sold online this summer and in-store with select retail partners. Speaking on the project, Aminé shares: "The POINTFIVE projects are the breaks in between albums where I give myself the freedom to make music without expectations, focusing instead of spontaneity and the best of what comes from stream of conscious creation, which is why they arrive unexpectedly without a long rollout. "Fast hätten wir gedacht: es könnte gut ausgehen". Zwei nervenaufreibende Jahre lang haben L'APPEL DU VIDE aus Chemnitz an ihrer Debüt-EP gearbeitet, jetzt ist die "Abwärtsspirale" in Gang gesetzt. Ihre selbstgewählte Genre-Zuschreibung Dark Punk kratzt dabei nur an der Oberfläche. Das Spektrum reicht vom aggressiv-düsterem Surf-Punk ("Das bin ich nicht") über spröden, repetitiven Sound mit Noise-Ausbrüchen ("Aufmerksamkeit") bis zu hymnisch-melodischen Post-Punk ("Delirium"). Bei "Das Programm", - einer bittersüßen Romanze in Zeiten totaler Überwachung - , wird es plötzlich ungewöhnlich ruhig-melancholisch dank 60ies-Orgel und Background-Gesang von Mara. L'APPEL DU VIDE beschäftigen sich textlich in knappen Worten mit Verleugnung, Scheitern und Entfremdung. "Delirium" klingt dabei wie der Soundtrack zur Pandemie, wurde aber schon 2019 geschrieben. Die Songs wurden von Flatty aufgenommen und klanglich von Max Herrmann/Gloven Studio Leipzig (Mix) und Mikey Young (Mastering) veredelt.
