Fire! have always been about finding the essence by getting to the core of the music. Their 8th album sees the trio - for the first time on record - stripped down to the bare-bones essentials; with no flutes, no electronics, no guests and no extras, recorded live in the studio to analogue tape - the Steve Albini way - with the master himself at the controls in Electrical Audio in Chicago. Thus, this album stands as a true testament to the group's expressive power and glowing intimacy. Musically, Testament can be seen as an extension of their previous full length album Defeat, released two years ago, to the month. A solitary bass figure from Johan Berthling, quickly joined by a stout drum groove, gets it all going in a familiar fashion before Gustafsson adds desolate cries and whispers from his baritone sax. This approach is even more honed on the second track, with the most simplistic groove you're likely to hear in jazz and Gustafsson shifting between extended, lonely, tortured lines, only once abrupted by a series of short bursts. The third track starts with loose and relatively lively drums that continue throughout, but the mournful saxophone maintains a subdued atmosphere. Track four is a real beauty with the trio slipping into a trance-like dream state before shifting gear halfway into its nine minutes. The final track is the most dynamic of the lot, shifting between bursts of energy and lyrical beauty. Fire's debut album, You Liked Me Five Minutes Ago, was released in 2009 to wide international acclaim. "The basic strategy of pairing the expressive energy of free jazz with a sturdy sense of groove has yielded something potent and self-contained" (New York Times). Between this and Testament there's been six albums, including collaborations with Jim O'Rourke (Unreleased?) and Oren Ambarchi (In The Mouth A Hand), as well as the Requies EP with Stephen O'Malley and David Sandström in 2022. Testament was recorded and mixed during a three-day stint at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio in Chicago in December 2022. wieder lieferbar Zwei Jahre nach dem Release "Ten Stones" (2008), das von Fans und Kritikern gefeiert wurde, haben Wovenhand und das Label Glitterhouse beschlossen, ihre Kräfte wieder zu vereinen. Das erste Ergebnis ist das Album "The Threshingfloor". Auf ihrem sechsten Album stoßen Wovenhand zu neuen Territorien vor, während David Eugene Edwards einen leidenschaftlichen Wirbel entfacht, der mitreißt und zutiefst spirituell ist. Seine unverwechselbare Stimme, sein kraftvolles Banjospiel und die beherzte Unterstützung von Pascal Humbert (Bass) und Ordy Garrison (Schlagzeug) machen "The Threshingfloor" zu einem atemberaubenden Erlebnis. Wie schon zu Zeiten seiner ehemaligen Band 16 Horsepower überrascht uns Edwards wieder mit mal einer Coverversion: "Trust" aus New Orders Debütalbum "Movement" wird auf "The Threshingfloor" zu einem manischen, intensiven Song- und Soundgewitter, dass den Hörer atemlos zurücklässt.

Tommy was born in 1945 in Homestead, Florida, and after his first foray into music in a church choir, he launched his secular recording career in Jackson, Mississippi, working mostly with Tim Whitsett and his Imperial Showband in the latter half of the 1960s. After a short stint with the Nightingales, he signed with KoKo in 1971 and had six impressive singles released, followed by records on Sundance, Juana and Urgent Records.

“I Can’t Do Enough for You Baby” is a mellow and melodic slow-to-mid-tempo song that sounds almost inspirational, while “Hold On” is a beautiful waltz-time ballad which James Carr released on Atlantic in 1971. Both of these songs were cut as demos probably in 1969 after Tommy and Carson Whitsett had signed a deal to become staff writers with Malaco Records.

Tommy was a magnificent singer and songwriter, who never got the credit he deserved mainly because of poor business choices and unfortunate incidents throughout his career. However, he was a beautiful person, gentle and humble.

Patsy Cline was the first true Queen of Country, putting down markers in a male dominated musical world for the likes of Kitty Wells, Brenda Lee and Loretta Lynn. She is now revered by a new generation of performers. Invited to sing on American television’s Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts show, the show’s producers insisted she sing Walkin’ After Midnight. The standing ovation it won from the studio audience told its own story, and a Number 12 Pop hit resulted. She came back strongly, recording another crossover hit in Crazy, written by Willie Nelson. It became her biggest seller, reaching Number 9 in the Billboard Pop listing that October. Other 1962-vintage tracks featured here are She’s Got You, When I Get Thru With You (You'll Love Me Too) and So Wrong, show an artist at the top of her game. But while 1962 would bring more acclaim, the story ended for Patsy Cline all too soon. However, her recordings ensure Patsy’s name lives on through her songs Heartaches, You're Stronger Than Me, Lonely Street, Stop, Look And Listen, Why Can't He Be You, You Belong to Me, Strange and the Hank Williams cover Your Cheatin' Heart.

Auf früheren Veröffentlichungen stellte Hulder ihre musikalische Vision in ursprünglicher Form vor, aber mit einem direkten Sinn für grimmig-melodische Motive. Doch erst auf ihrem Debütalbum "Godslastering: Hymns of a Forlorn Peasantry" begann sich Hulders ausgeprägte Vorliebe für raue Hymnen von mystischer, belebender Erhabenheit und abgrundtiefer Tiefe vollends zu entfalten.

Während des gesamten Albums verwebt Hulder die Fäden verschiedener Black Metal-Stränge miteinander und nimmt dabei Elemente heidnischer Folklore, ätherische symphonische Würde und kratzende, rauhe Melodik der unharmonischsten und grässlichsten Art auf. "Godslastering..." zeichnet ein lebendiges Bild mittelalterlicher Dunkelheit und längst vergessenen Ahnenreihen.

Im Jahr 2021 wurde Hulder zu einer Live-Band mit kompletter Besetzung. Und obwohl es Pläne gibt, mit der Band weit und breit in der ganzen Welt zu touren, bleibt Hulder musikalisch die alleinige Vision ihrer Schöpferin. Godslastering..." wurde bereits Ende 2020 veröffentlicht und erscheint nun zum ersten Mal in Deutschland - auf 20 Buck Spin, dem neuen Label der Band.

Vocalist Chaka Malik and guitarist Chris Traynor met in the New York hardcore band Burn and began playing together as early as 1992. With an early version of Orange 9mm, the duo released a live EP in 1993. The recording earned the band a contract with East West, and after picking up bassist David Gentile and drummer Matthew Cross, Orange 9mm began recording. Driver Not Included was released in 1994, and the band spent time touring with Helmet before signing with Atlantic the following year. Gentile left later in 1995 and was replaced by Taylor McLam just after recording ended for Tragic, with production by Barkmarket's David Sardy. Tragic was released in 1996; it would be three years before Orange 9mm issued a follow-up, which bore the title of Pretend I'm Human

Ein Album, einen verpatzten TV Auftritt, eine Tour und ein nie vollendetes zweites Album später endete die Geschichte von PAL im Jahre 1978 auch schon wieder. Eine Geschichte, die es wert ist, noch einmal zelebriert zu werden.

Sindh combines old and new worlds on his latest mystic hymns, this time kicking off the A-Biotic label with his dark and alluring four-track EP 'Andaman'. He manages to fuse organic and synthetic materials here as he heads down a darkly introspective path where minimal and IDM, dub and techno all collide in mutant form. 'Jangil' is a real standout with its bubbling halftime rhythms and icy synths backed by distant angelic chorals. The bewitching sounds continue on 'Galathea' which rides back and forth on its heels as subtle sines, scurrying synths and menacing pads all interlock before 'Hinam' locks you in a dense synth stasis and loopy sense of lurching rhythm.

The third vinyl release of the year from Blur Records sees three distinguished producers - ColorJaxx, T.Markakis and Manuel Kane - sharing duties, each delivering a track each but with the distinctive, music-centred 'deep house fusion' flavour of the Blur label very much at their heart. ColorJaxx's 'I Know You' kicks off proceedings in upbeat mood, goaded along by a skippy garage beat, some beautiful piano work and arresting male vocals. 'Ain't Like That' by T.Markakis rolls slower and deeper, clouds of warm synth giving it a reassuring, dub feel, while Manuel Kane's 'Funk' boasts a cheery, end-of-evening sparkle with its hypnotic vocal samples and gentle sirens. Quality without pretention whichever way you turn.

A true studio visionary and son of Incognito's Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick, Daniel Maunick virtually grew up behind the mixing desk and worked his way through the scenes of drum n' bass, acid-jazz, disco, samba, deep house and beyond. As Far Out's in-house producer his work is a key component in the consistency and transience of the label's sound, with key albums include Azymuth's Fênix, Marcos Valle's Estatica, Sabrina Malheiros' Dreaming and Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra. His latest credit on the catalogue is the next chapter of his Dokta Venom alias, Moodswings.Each track brings you a visceral dancefloor experience both sonically and structurally. Opener 'See the Sun' evokes an elevated, cloudy ether, with each kick drum another step up to the sky. Title track 'Mood Swings' deploys components of broken beat, garage, house, IDM and boogie, but shrouds them into a hazy deepness, like a dream through Maunick's musical memories. Whilst keeping the same intensity, 'I Owe u Something' ups the tempo and swings the mood. Propulsive percussion blurs the acoustic with the electric, glowing synths and anguished vocals formulate this eruptive full-floor belter that lodges somewhere in between early Pepe Bradock and Azymuth.With a solo album from Azymuth drummer Ivan 'Mamao' Conti, a collaboration between Sean Khan and Hermeto Pascoal, along with a long awaited new record from Sabrina Malheiros, 2017 is set to be an exceptional year for Maunick and Mood Swings is an inspired prelude of things to come.

The sweeping poem ‘Cofio’ by the great Welsh poet Waldo Williams has inspired a remarkable collaboration between Ibiza-based record label NuNorthern Soul, Welsh DJ, performer and cultural commentator Gareth Potter, composer and musician Joan Bibiloni, poet and actor Pep Tosar Vaquer, actor Rhys Ifans and musician James Baron aka JIM / Ron Basejam.

1st March is St Davids Day and Balearic Day. St David’s Day honours the death of the patron saint of Wales and the Day of the Balearic Islands the day when islands Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca became an autonomous region of Spain.

Cofio Recorda Remembrance is made up of two powerful and haunting tracks drenched in NuNorthern Soul’s unique take on the globally popular Balearic Chillout style. Un Adéu features music by Joan remixed by James Baron with Pep reading the poem in Catalan and Spanish. Badia Onírica is a tremendously atmospheric reading of ‘Cofia’ in Welsh and English by Rhys with music again arranged by James.

It connects Wales and Ibiza but, on a more universal level, Cofio Recorda Remembrance links the fundamental aspects of human existence, of, as Waldo Williams puts it ‘earth’s innumerable generations’.

In 20 Jahren hat Sänger und Gitarrist Thomas Gurrath ein ganzes Banduniversum aus Debauchery, Blood God und Balgeroth erschaffen und vereint diese Trinity of Blood Gods nun unter dem Namen BLUTGOTT. Musikalisch genreübergreifend gibt es stampfenden Death Metal, klassischen Heavy Metal und groovigen Hard Rock, mal mit kreischenden Vocals, mal mit der markanten Monsterstimme, mal clean und alles dazwischen.
Die Texte - mal deutsch-, mal englischsprachig - handeln von Gurraths eigenem Dark Fantasy Universum, der World of Blood Gods, benannt nach den Blutgöttern - biomechanischen Vampirdrachen mit dämonischen Fähigkeiten.

Jeder der 10 Songs kommt auf einer separaten CD erstmalig in der deutschen Balgeroth-Version, in der Blood God Heavy Metal-Version und in einer alternativen Debauchery-Version daher und ist somit eine Sammlung mit Gurraths persönlichen Favoriten in einem neuen Gewand.

Das Duo in der Rockmusik funktioniert in der Regel nach dem Prinzip der Reduktion: Wer nur zu zweit auf der Bühne steht, setzt meist notgedrungen auf Akzente statt auf Flächen, auf Gerüst statt auf Schmuck. Weniger ist mehr, heißt dann die Devise, und es braucht schon eine ganze Menge Charisma (siehe White Stripes), musikalische Versiertheit (siehe Black Keys) oder schlichtweg Druck (siehe Royal Blood), um der Irritation etwas entgegenzustellen, die entsteht, wenn man auf das gewohnte Gesang-Gitarre-Bass-und-Schlagzeug-Setting verzichtet. Das hat durchaus etwas von dem verzweifelten Ennui, den Bands wie die Fehlfarben oder Abwärts vor über 40 Jahren formulierten. Hier wird robotisch gegroovt, neurotisch gesungen, und fatalistisch getextet - und das immer mit lockerer Faust, um den Zuhörern bei Bedarf schnell mal eine reinzimmern zu können.

After a series of stellar remixes in the past year to Cosmo Vitelli (on Im a Cliché), Dadalus & Bikarus, Santaka & Nic Arizona, Rusu is finally ready to present his own original solo materials to the world.


Ahead of a full LP planned on MT for later this year, Rusu is presenting us with 2 fresh new tracks. The A-side is a 120bpm dirty and distorted super- trippy banger for the biggest floors and the darkest rooms.

On the B-side Rusu collaborates with an artist known to the followers of the label - Decha, who contributes her signature expressive vocals on this half time industrial dub track. This time however, the vocals run through the hands of Rusu who soaks them with distortion and even more punk attitude, almost echoing the energies of the late Genesis P-Orridge.

The release includes 2 remixes by a couple of master remixers who also happen to be part of our extended family.

released on 2023 (Music From Memory & Offen), Philipp Otterbach supplies a remix for the books, channeling the original track’s intensity through oceans of reverb, whimsical samples and addictive trippy rhythms.
For the Hedesch Remix we’ve asked one of our favourite remixers out there aka Black Merlin to contribute his cut and boy he didn’t disappoint (does he ever?)


Black Merlin supplied us with a long and addictive psychedelic synthetic and very dubby journey for the b-side.

Die Wiener Samsara Joyride mit ihrem zweitem Longplayer, dem ersten auf Tonzonen. Von Beginn an stand für die Band eine Fusion des klassischen Rocksounds der 70er und 90er Jahre im Mittelpunkt, dabei bewegt sich die Band stilistisch frei zwischen Blues-, Psych- und Stoner-Rock. Eingängige, hypnotisierende Riffs, durchsetzt mit euphorisierenden Gitarrensoli und markanten Bariton-Vocals bestimmen die Songs - ein Spiel zwischen Altbewährtem und Experimentellem, zwischen Wiederholungen und Wendungen. 2023 wurden sieben neue Tracks geschmiedet, die zwar noch erkennbar im Stil des Debütalbums gegründet sind, sich aber in Sachen Komplexität und Experimentierfreude deutlich abheben. "The Subtle And The Dense" tritt schon vom ersten Ton an nicht nur deutlich heavier und progressiver, sondern vor allem selbstbewusster auf. Es wurde deutlich mutiger mit dem Einsatz von Hintergrundstimmen und Gesangsharmonien experimentiert. Leadgitarrist Michael Haumer übernimmt den größten Teil des Background-Gesangs, wobei sein kräftiger Tenor Miehes dunklen Bariton perfekt ergänzt. Aber auch Laura Fichtenkamms klare und weiche Frauenstimme bildet einen harmonischen Kontrast zur Hauptstimme. Verglichen mit dem ersten Album ist der Gitarrensound von Miehe und Haumer gleichzeitig subtiler und dichter. Wo früher noch live improvisiert wurden, finden sich heute fast ausschließllich in akribischer Kleinarbeit ausgearbeitete Lead-Gitarren-Parts, die mühelos zwischen Blues-, Metal und Stonerrock wechseln. Andreas Mittermühlners mal peitschenden, mal wuchtig stampfenden, immer jedoch punktgenauen Drums und Daniel Batliners vibrierend-groovender, alles andere als im Hintergrund stehender Bass, bilden gemeinsam das Rückgrat und den Puls der Platte, und bieten so den schneidenden Höhen von Haumers Sologitarre Fundament und Rahmen zur Entfaltung. Daraus ergibt sich ein großes Ganzes, das manchmal nach Kyuss, manchmal nach Danzig oder Black Sabbath, manchmal sogar noch Tool oder All Them Witches klingt, immer aber nach Samsara Joyride und als Gesamtwerk weit über die Summe seiner Teile hinauswächst.

"Moon Healer" ist ein anschauliches Beispiel dafür, was passiert, wenn Kreativität, Ambition und Dynamik zum ersten Mal seit Jahren wieder aufeinandertreffen. Wie das von der Kritik gelobte, 2014 erschienene Album "Sun Eater" ist "Moon Healer" musikalisch facettenreich, unverschämt brutal und überzeugend konzeptionell. Mit einem aufgefrischten Line-up, bestehend aus Frontmann und Mitbegründer Jonny Davy, den Gitarristen Tony Sannicandro und Al Glassman, Bassist Nick Schendzielos und Schlagzeuger (seit 2020) Navene Koperweis, knüpft die Band nahtlos an die Erfolge von "Sun Eater" an.

KING DIAMOND ist wahrscheinlich die bekannteste und produktivste Persönlichkeit im Heavy Metal. Er wird von so großen Ikonen wie Metallica und Pantera verehrt und inspiriert Newcomer wie Goatwhore. KING DIAMOND, der Mann und die Band, haben einen unauslöschlichen Stempel in der Geschichte des Heavy Metal hinterlassen. Die 12"-Vinyl-LP enthält die Tracks "Masquerade Of Madness", "Welcome Home (Live at Graspop)" und "Arrival (Live at Graspop)" - alle zum ersten Mal auf Vinyl erhältlich.

The Trashmen's defining moment, 1963's "Surfin' Bird," is perhaps the ultimate lightning-in-a-bottle record. Their first true studio recording, it captures the group's interminable energy and mastery of live performance. But it also is the culmination of spirit and experiment that turned it into something new and, from the perspective of 50 years, unique. This collection shows them to be variously a first-rate surf band, a great protopunk outfit, solid rockers with the raw essence of the earliest originators of the sound, and adept enough to work in some comedy and country. This scope of ability and interest is probably the true basis of the band's following now. But "Surfin' Bird" has more tenacity than other bands' entire better-performing catalogs, and with it, the Trashmen created a work that is arguably today the most relevant release from that storied decade.

Oceanic White & Blue Vinyl, limited to 300 copies. The band's name is borrowed from the legend of the Cailleach, the ancient witch god of winter from Scottish Celtic mythology. The story goes that she lives at the bottom of an enormous whirlpool, Corryvreckan, which lies between some of the western isles of Scotland and lends its name to this album. As the herald of winter, she rises from the depths to wash her plaid (cloak) in the waters of the Corryvreckan. Once washed and restored to a bright white, she casts it across the earth where it lands as snow. This is done at the start of Samhainn (beginning on 31st October, which was the Celtic precursor to Halloween and the name of the band's debut album). Her reign ends as spring arrives with the festival of Bealltainn in May, and she turns to stone to await the next winter. The Cailleach is depicted in various, contradictory ways - both as a symbol of death, loss and despair, as well as a source of nurturing and protection. Taking inspiration from all this, the music that HAND OF KALLIACH creates is centred around these dual concepts of benevolence and malevolence, all against the backdrop of the history, mythology and land/seascapes of the Scottish islands. The threads of Celtic and Gaelic folk music and folklore weave throughout the album, against a backdrop of spectral, melodic death metal. Blending the robust brutality of death metal with the ethereal wisps of folk is an intoxicating brew. Corryvreckan was recorded with Wynter Prior at Sphynx Studios, Brighton, UK. Thee Alcoholics are the brainchild of Rhys Llewellyn, a longtime Rocket Recordings alumnus whose background leans as heavily into the bassbin-shaking realms of electronic music as it does the tinnitus-inducing world of howling, cranked-up ampstacks. Not content with hammering drumskins for numerous floor-shaking records on the Rocket discography from the likes of Hey Colossus and The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers, he’s also been responsible for brain-rearranging electronic works under the Drmcnt and Acidliner monikers. Thee Alcoholics, however - which initially gestated as a result of Rhys himself wanting to pursue the somewhat hostile sound in his own head during lockdown - maps out a collision course between all of the above. Cranky and cantankerous yet lysergically aligned, Feedback is mesmeric rock with swagger, warped into sci-fi shapes by the spirit and sonics of bass and soundsystem culture. The psychedelic shapes here are redolent of the ur-klang of The Fall and the monolithic lurch of The Heads, the motorik malevolence less an uplifting trip to the heavens than a drill down to the earth’s core. Discernible in these jackhammer beats, grimly murmured vocals and delirious dirges to certain heads may be the trash futurism of Chrome, the decomposed stomp of unsung legends Earl Brutus and the electro-punk attack of Six Finger Satellite, yet all of the above co-ordinates are waylaid effortlessly by a balls-out intensity and a 6 fearsome intent on aural oblivion at all costs. Feedback may be elemental and primal, yet this is no psych comfort-blanket nor retrofetishism, rather a repetition-driven journey headlong into intimidating territory unknown. Multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer Yussef Dayes releases The Yussef Dayes Experience (Live from Malibu), featuring music from his critically acclaimed debut solo album, Black Classical Music. In 1994, UK ambient pioneers O Yuki Conjugate recorded their landmark Equator album. To mark the 30th anniversary of this musical milestone, many of the same personnel – Roger Horberry (co-founder of O Yuki Conjugate), Dan Mudford (ex-Sons of Silence and co-creator of the Shaun of the Dead soundtrack), Joe Lamb (ex-Sons of Silence) and Malcolm McGeorge – came together to make New Meridian, reflecting the range of influences they’ve picked up over the intervening years.

Generously described as “almost like normal music”, the eight tracks of New Meridian feature instrumentation ranging from classic analogue to actual wooden logs.
