Songwriter Kerry Alexander has fronted Bad Bad Hats with Chris Hoge for more than a decade, and the duo have known Elana Carroll (aka Party Nails) even longer. While on tour together in 2018, Carroll joined Bad Bad Hats on stage for an encore performance, and an idea for a new band was sparked. Elana on lead vocals, Kerry on guitar, Chris on drums. Songs inspired by early 2000s rock. One night after watching Josie & the Pussycats together, Megasound was officially born. Their debut album will be released by Don Giovani Records in summer 2026.

Portuguese techno mainstay Dextro drops cultured EP 'Covil Dos Abutres' for his label debut on Mutual Rytm.

Dextro has been immersed in electronic music and DJing since the early 90s. In the decades since, he has become synonymous with a sound deeply rooted in simplicity and authenticity. Fuelled by a passion for his craft, his production process is guided by intuition and spans a diverse range of styles, from tunnelling grooves to more potent techno with deep and hypnotic layers. He has held several key residencies and released on top labels like CLR and Missile Records, and he adds to those with a first outing on SHDW's Mutual Rytm with 'Covil Dos Abutres'.

The five-track 12" and eight-track digital EP has a sleek, stripped-back style, with wide-spanning corners of the techno realm explored. 'Covil Dos Abutres' is a deep space transmission with journeying, frictionless beats and deft sci-fi motifs that recall classic touches synonymous with the genre's pioneers. 'Correct Incorrect' keeps the pressure on with more rubbery, dubbed-out groves beautifully decorated with delicate melodies. Jahrestags seiner Veröffentlichung bringt Secretly Canadian Yoko Onos bahnbrechendes Album ,Season of Glass" aus dem Jahr 1981 in einer erweiterten CD-Version sowie erstmals seit mehr als 45 Jahren wieder auf Vinyl heraus, ergänzt durch ein erweitertes und überarbeitetes Coverdesign. ,Season of Glass", das zu den Top 200 Alben der 1980er Jahre von Pitchfork zählt, erschien im Juni 1981, nur sieben Monate nach dem sinnlosen Mord an Onos Ehemann und kreativem Partner John Lennon. Voller Songs über Liebe, Verlust, Wut und Angst spiegelte das Album Onos Erfahrungen in aller Deutlichkeit wider und schuf so fast ein Pendant zu den ,Primal Scream"-Alben der Plastic Ono Band von Ono und Lennon aus dem Jahr 1970. ,Season of Glass war eigentlich einfach nur ich selbst, denke ich", sagte Ono 1982 gegenüber Newsweek. ,Irgendwie war es in gewisser Weise wie ein Urschrei; weißt du, etwas ist in meinem Leben passiert, und ich musste es einfach sagen. Und ich glaube, es war für mich mehr als alles andere therapeutisch. Und ich war ziemlich ehrlich, nehme ich an." French quartet Mourir are preparing to release their second full-length studio album, Nous, le venin, this summer via Pelagic Records. Their forward-thinking take on black metal and uncompromising approach to their work marks them out as ones to watch when they present this new material live at festivals across Europe including Hellfest, Rock In Bourlon and Resurrection festival in the months to come. With a demo, an album and an experimental EP to their name, the four-piece retreated to the studio at the end of 2025 to write the music for Nous, le venin. Recorded in January 2026 with Amaury Sauvé (Birds in row, Igorrr, Pneu) at The Apiary Studio in Laval, France, the six tracks are the very embodiment of Mourir's approach to black metal. Although they draw inspiration from many artists in the old-school black metal world, they opted to lean into a more modern sound - one that would allow the depth of their sonic choices to shine. Blending elements of sludge and post-metal to the rawness of their black metal sound, and combining this with a mix that gives space to both the low frequencies and the high-octane viscerality, Mourir have created something both distinctive and captivating. Thematically, the band turns their detached gaze towards an ever-more untethered modern society, one that is inhospitable to those seeking meaning in the cruelty and absurdity of a seemingly senseless world. Wet is the fifth full length album by Black Meteoric Star and the 10th release. Black Meteoric Star is a project Rayna started in 2006 when she was living in Berlin that brought together her life long love of dance music culture with spiritual themes, drag, and her formative experiences of S/M culture Black Meteoric Star has always had an avenger quality in Rayna's life and creative work, and this iteration plays that role in response to the current political landscape. Wet celebrates the long standing shared history of electronic music and queer leather/SM culture and imagines a future where these two cultural expressions are re-connected.

Electronic music and leather/SM are both ways that queer people have historically built community, created and shared knowledge, and kept each other safe. The current administration demonizes and villainizes queer people on the basis of a false moral framework of respectability, and its a trick. No amount of acting "respectable" will humanize queer people in the eyes of this administration and get us the rights we deserve. Revitalizing the connection between electronic music and queer leather/SM is a way to affirm the cultural power of both during a time when it has never been clearer that we keep each other safe. Rayna, a transgender woman with a deep commitment to all of these cultural forms, has a strong message to deliver with this album. She has been a DJ and producer of electronic music for over thirty years and has been producing community cultural events for as long. She has also been involved in kink and bdsm for decades and is a well-known and respected DJ in the New York leatherdyke scene. Rayna made international headlines in 2017 when she came out as transgender while touring with LCD Soundsystem. In 2018 she left the Grammy winning band to pursue projects that were more connected with her queer experience, including founding Voluminous Arts a cultural organization that supports trans artists. Black Meteoric Star is a continuation of a thread in Rayna's work that runs through her Paper Eyes project and her role in Black Leotard Front. This thread has a comic book or x rated graphic novel component based around her experiences of being a sad lonely lesbian trans girl who got bullied a lot and found escape and the possibility of being avenged through X men comics and Dungeons and Dragons books.

The Arkestra were at the peak of their powers in 1977, releasing revered albums like The Soul Vibration Of Man and My Favorite Things with Arkestra regulars Marshall Allen, Danny Ray Thompson, Michael Ray and Luqman Ali among the core musicians. Ra also continued his touring in Europe with historic gigs in Italy. During this period, Arkestra live performances were often loosely structured into thematic blocks that moved from reflections on jazz history to cosmic “space narrative” sections featuring collective chants, extended Africa/Egypt-inspired grooves and selections from the Great American Songbook. This recording brings in all of these features with re-imagined versions of standards like ‘Take The “A” Train’, ‘St. Louis Blues’ and title track ‘Over The Rainbow’ alongside rarely recorded Ra compositions like ‘Make Another Mistake’ and ‘Amen Meni Many Amens’. Ra conducted improvisations to guide the listener seamlessly from one musical scene to the next. As Sun Ra himself described it: “It’s like a party—we enjoy ourselves and everybody’s invited to enjoy it with us.”

The original version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow assembled a handful of clearly delineated tracks drawn from the flow of two complete concert recordings, re-arranged out of sequence. Strut’s new edition restores previously excised material and preserves more of the natural transitions between pieces, offering a fuller glimpse into the distinctive aesthetic of Sun Ra and his Arkestra.

This definitive reissue is pressed across two CDs, or three vinyl LPs housed in a triple gatefold sleeve, newly remastered by Technology Works from the original source tapes and features extensive new liner notes by Chris Cutler alongside video stills from the original concert.

Shady Nasty subvert expectations. Live dates continue into 2026 with Shady Nasty returning to the UK/EU as part of their TREK Tour, hitting up venues in London (Moth Club), Bristol (Strange Brew), Leeds (Hyde Park Book Club), Glasgow (SWG3 Poetry Club), Dublin (Whelan's), Cologne (Garagen), and Berlin (Mikropol), as well as Marrapalooza in Newcastle, Best Kept Secret Festival (NL), and Outbreak Festival in Manchester, before heading to Australia for shows in Brisbane (The Tivoli), Newcastle (King Street Bandroom), Wollongong (UOW Unibar), and Canberra (Fun Time Pony), then back to the UK for All Points East festival, curated by Tyler, the Creator, in August, and a full North American run supporting Militarie Gun (Sept-Oct 2026).

Imagination's singular 1983 album Night Dubbing is a refined deconstruction of black British soul and club pop, filtered through the deep studio and mixing techniques of dub music. Elegant, restrained, and, in its very own subtle way, radical, the record reshapes choice selections from the group's stellar catalogue into an immersive and out-of-this-world listening experience.

The special mixes on Night Dubbing are built on time and space. Basslines elongate and dissolve. Vocals appear, vanish, and reappear like ghosts. Drums fall away into vast silences, while echoes, tape edits, and precise engineering manoeuvres smoothly slide across the stereo field, revealing themselves like magic over repeated listens. John Ringhofer, der Mann hinter Half-Canded Cloud, ist ebenso fröhlich und genügsam wie seine Musik. Als sparsamer Mensch zieht Ringhofer die U-Bahn dem Taxi vor, recycelt Plastik, macht sich zwanghaft Notizen und ist ein geborener Optimist. Half-Canded Cloud begann 1999 als Heimstudio-Projekt in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ringhofer lebte später über ein Jahrzehnt lang in der kalifornischen Bay Area (wo er als Teilzeit-Hausmeister arbeitete), bevor er 2015 mit seiner jungen Familie nach Helsinki, Finnland, zog, um die linguistische Forschung seiner Frau zu unterstützen. Half-Canded Cloud versteht es, komplexe theologische Konzepte in eingängige und erhabene Kinderlieder zu verpacken, die sich weder ihrem Thema noch ihrem Zuhörer herablassend nähern.
