Schwarzes Vinyl, 140g. Fast sieben Jahre nach ihrem letzten Release, zahlreichen internationalen Touren, und dem Preis als Beste Band beim der ersten Ausgabe des Deutschen Jazzpreis 2021, veröffentlicht PHILM am 27. Januar 2026 gleich zwei neue Alben. "2025" wurde im Kölner Loft im April 2025 live aufgenommen. Der Sound ist hier düsterer, emotionaler. Die beiden Stücke "no words" I und II sind dafür ein gutes Beispiel, beschäftigen sie sich mit der Fassungslosigkeit und dem Entsetzen angesichts aktueller Krisen, Kriege und der immer wieder zerstörerischen Rolle des globalen Nordens. Zwischen Dissonanz und Schönheit eröffnet sich ein weites Feld der Gefühle. Mit 2024 und 2025 schlagen PHILM ein neues Kapitel für sich auf, spitzen ihr seit langem und zu Recht gefeiertes konsequentes Verständnis von Jazz, von Erzählen durch Musik, weiter zu, durchaus stilprägend für die europäische Avantgarde.

Splatter Vinyl, limitiert auf 800 Exemplare. Das Schweizer Quartett Lone Assembly präsentiert mit "Knots & Chains" ein Debütalbum voller in Schmerz, Entfremdung und Trauer getränkter Hymnen, die dennoch Hoffnung, Stärke und Mut entfalten. Im dunklen Goth-Gewand gehüllt, ist das Album eine Wave/Synth-Pop-Erkundung von Kontrolle in all ihren Facetten: sei es durch andere, uns selbst oder die Umstände und Orte, die uns prägen. Bereits mit ihrer EP "That Never Happened" (2024), einer Hommage an eine verlorene geliebte Person, reifte die Band zu weit mehr als einem musikalischen Projekt. Lone Assembly wurden zu einem Raum der Heilung, der Nähe und der Notwendigkeit. Diese existenzielle Dringlichkeit, die die Band zusammenschweisst, durchzieht auch das Debütalbum - noch intensiver und deutlicher als zuvor. "Knots & Chains" ist ein Spiel mit chiaroscuro und wirft Licht auf Songs, die aus tiefer Dunkelheit hervorgehen. Jede Komposition untersucht eine Form von Kontrolle: die Macht anderer, wie in "You're Pulling at the Same Strings", wo der Protagonist das Unheil im Gegenüber zu begreifen versucht, das in diesem schlummert; die Herrschaft über das eigene Ich, eindrucksvoll dargestellt in "The Pain Keeper" und "My Life's Solid"; die Macht von Orten, die über uns bestimmen, etwa in "The City Works Like This", wo die Stadt zum atmenden Organismus mutiert - absorbierend, verzerrend, abstossend. Trotz der düsteren Themen blitzen immer wieder Hoffnungsmomente auf, am stärksten im unbändigen "In the Open". "Das Album formt sich zum Zyklus zwischen Erstickung und Aufatmen, wandert von erdrückender Enge zu befreiender Weite", so Sänger Raphaël Bressler.

Built from the soundtracks of 1970s and 1980s erotic and porn films, the five Sextapes volumes quickly gained cult status upon their release. After years of creating, releasing, and caring-ish what people think, the band now operate with zero hesitation and total authenticity. The result of this controlled chaos is their debut album ‘hypernormaL’.

Known for electrifying village ceremonies and carrying the fever of Toliara across continents, he takes a sharp turn — not away from trance, but deeper into its core.

Recorded in just three days at Studio Black Box with analog wizard Peter Deimel, Fanjiry strips the tsapiky band down to a single guitar and a single heartbeat. Damily plays alone, yet fills the space completely — bass, rhythm, melody, pulse, and breath merging into a dense and vibrating sound. Every riff is architecture, every harmonic a door opening onto memory, childhood landscapes, and nights where music heals, binds, and exhausts the dark.

There is no nostalgia here, no museum of tradition. Fanjiry is a new frontier for tsapiky: raw, precise, suspended between earth and sky, born from craft and necessity. The title — the last star before dawn — captures its essence: a quiet moment before the world awakens, where a single guitar can hold an entire history and still point forward.

Lyn Collins came to prominence in the 60s as a member of James Brown’s legendary group. Her solo career started in 1971 and she hit paydirt in 1972 when her Brown penned and produced 7” ‘Think (About It)’ reached #9 on the R&B chart and #66 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Following a run of celebrated releases on Cercle Records and Anjunadeep, alongside a widely praised BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, London-based producer Catching Flies returns with Beats & Pieces II — a dynamic, dancefloor-focused counterpart to his previous mixtape, Beats & Pieces. Described as its "uptempo sister," the new project signals a confident shift in energy while preserving the organic textures and emotive detail that define his distinctive sound. Beats & Pieces II has already notched up a series of notable milestones.

"Lost Tracks: Accra To Addis" wurde von Afrocat zusammengestellt, seit 25 Jahren als DJ, Musik-/Kulturkuratorin, Radiomoderatorin der "Blaxploitation Lounge" (Totally Radio) und Abenteurerin tätig ist. Sie reiste nach Ghana und Äthiopien, um die Vielfalt der Vintage-Sounds zu erkunden und den Geist der ersten Revolutionsära Afrikas wiederzubeleben, in der Unabhängigkeit, Fortschritt und die Gleichstellung aller Menschen im Vordergrund standen – in diesem mitreißenden, funkigen und tiefgründigen Soundtrack, geprägt von Ethio-Jazz, Highlife, Gospel, afrikanische Polyrhythmen und psychedelischen Klängen. Aus der Idee eines Samplers entstand schließlich ein eigenes Plattenlabel: Lost Tracks Records ist unter Vertrag und hat einige fantastische Releases, internationale Live & Club-Events sowie Kollaborationen in petto. Als eine der wenigen schwarzen, weiblichen Labelinhaberinnen der Branche ist dies eine Stimme, die gehört werden muss.
