A guitar stands alone in Wedding, that metropolitan biotope in the western center of Berlin, caught in constant transformation between idyll and abyss. It lets its gaze wander, unsettled, almost shy, until it encounters a trumpet, with which it begins a cautious, then ever more intimate pas de deux.
Welcome to the second studio album by the Berlin-based band Conic Rose.
The album title Wedding is no coincidence. The story of Conic Rose is closely intertwined with the Berlin neighborhood that gives the record its name. The band's studio is located here, and both studio albums were created in the immediate vicinity of the small river Panke. This place settles over the music like a warming patina. The album feels as though the musicians and the neighborhood have invited one another to get to know each other. Not least because Wedding also means marriage. These marriages between a band and an urban landscape, a fading past and an emerging future, fear and hope - unfold in every single song on Wedding.
For their second album, Conic Rose repositioned themselves completely. Not in terms of personnel, but in the question of how to move forward. Conic Rose still sound like Conic Rose; their distinctive blend of cinematic jazz, ambient textures and guitar-led contemporary music remains untouched. And yet Wedding is, in many ways, the conceptual counterpart to their debut album Heller Tag. Where the debut documented movement within an urban setting, Wedding describes a state of being. Behind every piece seems to hover a large question mark.The group opens up its palette, allowing more influences, becoming at once more subtle, more profound, more filigree. It is less about definition than about the spaces in between. The most immediately striking difference from the previous album is the strong presence of the guitar. In Bertram Burkert's playing, many voices seem to converge. His yearning openness forms an equal counterpoint to Döben's trumpet and flugelhorn. Blurred and layered sounds occasionally make the ground seem to slip away beneath one's feet, while Döben's gliding lines create both closeness and distance. Together, the band express in a deeply subtle way a sense of life that corresponds precisely to our time. Something lurks in the background, omnipresent yet still unnameable. Conic Rose need no words to convey this feeling of uncertainty with remarkable eloquence. Perhaps this has something to do with Wedding being a place of confrontational introspection, but Conic Rose confront the escape from escape itself. With the recording and release of Wedding, this process is far from complete. The seed only begins to grow in the listener's ear. With every listen and the echo it leaves behind in memory, the studio bud continues to bloom. The album is merely the point of departure. What ultimately matters is what it sets in motion within those who encounter it.

"Habe Brille" ist benannt nach einem Stück aus einer Operette von Jacques Offenbach und der Titel deutet schon an, wohin die musikalische Reise geht: Es wird ein weiter Bogen geschlagen von der Klassik (hier brilliert Wölfi mit einem a capella Solo über acht Oktaven), Big Band-Einspielungen bis zu düsteren technoiden Maschinenklängen, wobei das Hauptgewicht selbstverständlich auf solidem Punkrock liegt. Die Kassierer überraschen mit ihren virtuos eingespielten Liedern auch verwöhnte Ohren und strafen all die Lügen, die ihnen musikalische Kompetenz absprechen wollen. Was wie ein Streifzug durch die Musikhistorie wirkt, bringt kurz vor der Jahrtausendwende die Vielfalt und Beliebigkeit aller Stile auf den Punkt und liefert nicht mehr und weniger ein Stück Zeitgeschichte. Dabei bleiben die vielen Ohrwürmer sofort im Gedächtnis und laden zum spontanen mitsingen ein. Das große Plus der Band liegt in ihrer konsequenten Konzentration auf die deutsche Sprache, deren Vielfalt sie tiefer ausschöpfen als jede andere Gruppe der Gegenwart. Die Musik der Kassierer läßt den Hörer niemals kalt, sie packt ihn, entwickelt ihre dämonische Kraft und läßt den Hörer als einen anderen zurück. Hier werden Grenzen der Wirklichkeit verzerrt und verschoben, hier wird die realität neu zusammengezimmert. While early ’90s New Orleans was dominated by bounce, MC Thick stood apart with gritty, street-level storytelling and a raw, unapologetic voice.

Featuring “T.H.I.C.K.” and production work involving T-Ray (Todd Ray), known for his work with Cypress Hill, the album remains an important piece of Southern rap history.

Out Loud is the debut solo album from Gary Klebe, guitarist/vocalist of the power-pop band Shoes. Formed in Zion, Illinois in 1974, Shoes was influenced by British Invasion groups of the 1960s and artists like Big Star, Bowie, the Move, Todd Rundgren, Nils Lofgren. The band first gained attention by self-releasing records on their own Black Vinyl Records label before signing to Elektra Records. Albums like Black Vinyl Shoes, Present Tense, and Tongue Twister earned them critical acclaim and cult-favorite status, with songs such as “Too Late,” “Tomorrow Night,” and “Your Imagination” becoming genre touchstones. Shoes’ melodic craftsmanship and independent spirit have made them hugely influential, inspiring generations of power-pop and indie rock bands.

Grounded in a season of life that has been earned rather than borrowed, Benjamin Tod speaks with the ease of someone no longer running from himself. When you name your band Prince Daddy & The Hyena, you sort of accept that chaos isn’t a chapter in your story – it’s the entire ethos. Since forming out of Albany, NY’s DIY scene, Prince Daddy & The Hyena have built a career out of reaching their breaking point and continuing forward anyway. Franck Roger has been busy this year. The Frenchman is already an assured deep house mainstay who has worked with plenty of the most tasteful labels. Here he lands on the Seasons Limited imprint as they head into their 30th year in 2026. This typically soulful EP opens with 'My Illusion', which has Roger again centreing his own vocals to beautiful effect. 'Organika' is a supple, subtle and smoky deep house gem for cosy vibes and 'Emotive' shuts down with a lush, slow-burning sound that taps right into the earliest house roots. Sublime.

Behind the name Pouf Pouf Pantoufle lie six musicians from Nancy, graduates of the Lillebonne music school: Vincent Petit on double bass, Gabriel Lambert on bass, Guillaume Schwab on keyboards, Tom Colombain on trombone, Gaspard Petitnicolas on flute, and Solal Piquand on drums.

In 2022, they founded the APC (Appellation Pantouflarde Contrôlée) association and started organizing concerts at the legendary MJC Lillebonne, often alongside BMM and RPT. Thanks to their eclectic and avant-garde line-ups, these events have become unmissable for fans of hybrid music, electronic curiosities, and off-format performances.

Through a form of free, improvised, and chaotic jazz, the band Pouf Pouf Pantoufle echoes the local scene that they federate. The sextet now presents its first eponymous studio album, a genuine laboratory of improvisation and experimentation with different materials and sound textures, mixing acoustic and electronic elements in an intense and exhilarating jumble.

Recorded jointly in Germany and the USA, Mascara were the creation of soul legend and Mafia club DJ, the late Chris Hill. The vocalists are Ula Hedwig, David Lasley, and Luther Vandross . Ula was a former member of The Harlettes with Sharon Redd and Charlotte Crosley who used to support Bette Midler. David Lasley was also a supporting singer for Bette Midler, and later Luther Vandross, David Lasley’s prolific career as songwriter alone spans more than 30 years. He is best-known as a composer for the hundreds of songs he has written recorded by the likes of Anita Baker ("You Bring Me Joy"), Boz Scaggs ("JoJo"), He sang backgrounds on numerous classic disco hits for acts including Chic ("Everybody Dance", "Le Freak", "I Want Your Love"), Sister Sledge’s ("We Are Family", "He’s The Greatest Dancer") and together with Luther for Odyssey on "Native New Yorker".

Following standout releases on Tusk Wax and Binh’s Time Passages, Hamburg’s own Difool returns with fresh material for his debut on the mighty Partout Records from Paris.
This new EP continues his exploration of intricate grooves and timeless electronic textures. On A1 duty “Space Monkey Down” is a peak time future rave classic, reminiscent of 1990’s Trance eternals. “Now Hear This” combines classic 808 Electro beats with dreamy pads and a drilling 303 pattern. On the flip “Zone of Avoidance” and “Mosher” both employ broken beats and maximalist sound design for the discerning club-palate. This latest outing is a natural evolution for an artist who has already left his mark on two of the scene’s most respected labels..

Recorded in 1981 for Sylvester Music Company, Bright And Shining is breezy, dreamy and funky in a perfectly smooth jazzy-soul-groove fashion, with Moore's patented celestial male-female vocal harmonies this time benefitting from the addition of Fender Rhodes and pumping bass lines.

As one particularly enthusiastic Discogs user put it: "If Eno is responsible for Music for Airports, Moore is responsible for Music for Holidays." Indeed, this is brilliantly unique, "maximum happiness music". If you miss the sun-dappled soft-psych soul of Koushik, the heavenly vocal arrangements of the great Library Music doyenne Barbara Moore - her depth, richness, sophistication and warmth - will see you just right.

The gigantic title track, "Bright And Shining", gallops out the gate, all sophisticated, jazzy leisure-soul with sax and guitars backing Moore's effortless vocal swag in this relaxed, mid-tempo head-nod strut. Worth the price of admission alone. Up next, the sunny, vibey "Fly Me High" features strolling, "unworded" vocals (aside from the refrain of the title) alongside breezy alto sax and electric guitar. Pastoral and perfect. The slow'n'sultry "Affluence" presents a moody elegance, a classical "downlifting" gem. Another crucial highlight is the breezy "Going On Holiday". It's happy. It's sunny. It's lively. It's cool and happy. Did we say happy? A mid-tempo, romantic sax workout, "Alto Sex"presents smooth jazzy funk before the first side closes out with the soaring, jazzy "Stay With Me". Seriously uplifting.

Side B opens with "Feel Fine", an excellent uptempo and bright jazz groove. Up next, "Canon" is wracked with refinement, a peaceful, smooth vocal harmony over repeating bass making for an elegant, late-night classic. It's followed by the laconic "Smooth And Soft", a laidback, casual sophisticated soul and easy-feeling jazz gem. The jazzy "Real Thing" is another exercise in strolling sophistication, complete with wordless vocal harmonies. The fairly self-explanatory "Voice Over Sax" sounds precisely how you would expect; a relaxed sax number with heavenly vocal support! To close, the carefree "Feeling Free" is a pleasant, light and breezy mid-tempo groove.

The audio for Bright And Shining has been meticulously remastered by Be With regular Simon Francis, ensuring this release sounds better than ever. Cicely Balston's expert skills have made sure nothing is lost in the cut whilst the records have been pressed to the highest possible standard at Record Industry in Holland. The original, iconic sleeve has been restored here at Be With HQ as the finishing touch to this long overdue re-issue.
