Some things are just too good to be hidden from view. That's certainly the case with 'Things To Think About', the first album from Dutch electronic music legend Steve Rachmad's lesser-known Sterac Electronics project.

Rachmad first rose to prominence in the late 1990s, spearheading a surge in Dutch techno that was heavily inspired by the futurist intent and machine soul of Detroit. Since then, he has continued to successfully explore a wide range of dancefloor-centric electronic styles under a dizzying array of aliases.

It's a while, though, since the public has been treated to a heavy dose of Sterac Electronics
material. He first established the alias at the turn of the millennium, primarily as an outlet for hardware-driven electro music shot through with funk and soul.

A handful of highly regarded 12' singles were released on Music Man and Interpersonal XP, before Rachmad began focusing on other projects. When inspiration struck, he returned to the project, jamming out tracks using a mighty collection of vintage synthesizers and drum machines.

Recently, Rachmad and Tom Trago decided to revisit the Sterac Electronics archive, discovering a killer collection of cuts created at different points over the course of the last 15 years.

Now 9 of those spellbinding hardware jams have been gathered together for the first time on 'Things To Think About', a warm, rich and evocative collection of electro-fuelled workouts that giddily pay tribute to the music of Rachmad's youth.

'Things To Think About' will be released as a limited-edition double album, preceded by this 12' single featuring another previously unheard gem from the vaults.

Minisex: Kult-Album "Ayo" erscheint als limitierte Vinyl-Reissue am 05.12.2025 - remastered, farbig & rechtzeitig zum 70. Geburtstag von Sänger & Mastermind Rudi Nemeczek

Ein Klassiker des österreichischen New Wave feiert ein Comeback auf Vinyl: Am 5. Dezember 2025 erscheint das gefeierte Album "Ayo" von Minisex in einer remasterten 1LP-Reissue - limitiert auf eine exklusive Auflage und gepresst auf red-marbled Vinyl.

Ursprünglich 1984 veröffentlicht, zählt "Ayo" zu den musikalischen Meilensteinen der Bandgeschichte und enthält einige der größten Erfolge der österreichischen Kultband - allen voran die Songs "Rudi gib Acht" und "Eismeer", die bis heute Genre-Fans und Nostalgiker gleichermaßen begeistern.

Der Reissue-Termin könnte passender nicht sein: Nur wenige Wochen später, am 23. Dezember, feiert Rudi Nemeczek, Sänger, Songwriter und kreativer Kopf hinter Minisex, seinen 70. Geburtstag. Die Neuveröffentlichung ist somit nicht nur ein audiophiles Sammlerstück, sondern auch eine Hommage an eine zentrale Figur der österreichischen Musikszene.
Die LP erscheint in begrenzter Stückzahl. Wer sich ein Exemplar sichern möchte, sollte schnell sein - Ayo ist zurück, und zwar schöner denn je.

'In collaboration with the children of Nico Kasanda, better known as Docteur Nico, Planet Ilunga proudly presents an anthology dedicated to African Fiesta Sukisa, available as a 3LP set and a digital release with bonus songs. This release is the result of many years of preparations and was realized in close partnership with Liliane Kasanda, Nico’s eldest daughter. Marking forty years since his passing, we felt that the year 2025 was the right time to honor Docteur Nico’s legacy with this original collection.
'Almost all of the African Fiesta Sukisa songs were released on Nico’s Sukisa label which translates in Lingala for “the final accomplishment”. The music on Sukisa, crafted by Nico and legendary vocalists such as Chantal, Sangana, Apôtre, Mizele, Lessa Lassan and Josky, embodies the essence of that powerful phrase with genius, class and depth. The label ran between 1966 and 1975 and released approximately 280 songs. Ngoma also issued the group between 1967 and 1971 and, in addition, reissued material from the Sukisa label. Many of these songs have become part of the collective memory of Congolese society and are still heard, discussed, and analyzed daily across digital platforms worldwide, as well as on numerous Congolese radio and TV stations.
'The album we put together features some of Nico’s signature songs alongside never before reissued tracks from the Sukisa catalog. It furthermore contains a large booklet with song commentary, testimonial interviews from well-known musicians, journalists, fans and Nico’s entourage, besides never before published photography about his personal and musical life.
'Alastair Johnston, author of the book ‘A Discography of Docteur Nico’ and longstanding Planet Ilunga collaborator, designed a stylish booklet and cover using all our collected material. Audifax Bemba, longtime admirer, compiler and connoisseur of Nico’s music, and the author of most of the song commentary in our accompanying booklet, offers his portrait of Docteur Nico:
“After displaying technical virtuosity with African Jazz, expert and accomplished guitar with African Fiesta, which musicologist Sylvain Bemba described as a dream guitar, Nico Kasanda was consecrated ‘dieu de la guitare’ by the public in the late sixties. With his band African Fiesta Sukisa, Docteur Nico displays his wide palette of unusual sounds. While exploring the Hawaiian guitar with its clear, airy, plangent, psychedelic effluvia, he continues to replicate the piano comping technique, and adds two missing strings to his bow: a simulation of the sanza (likembé or thumb piano), whose sounds he reproduces right down to the noisemakers of the tiny tin rings, on the one hand, and the sounds of the Luba balafon on the other. The right note, in the right place, at the right time, is the triptych on which Nico Kasanda’s playing is based, a note dressed in the perfect sound. A guitar of pure emotion. With African Fiesta Sukisa, his playing takes a ‘Chopin-esque’ turn, sending out more notes in a sublime adagio. The true artist is the one who simplifies everything. Docteur Nico is a genius of our time, whose style makes him the supreme exponent of the most important guitar school in Congolese music. He is recognized by his peers as the greatest African solo guitarist of all time. When Niko Moon broke out with his triple-platinum hit “GOOD TIME,” the Texas-born, Georgia-raised singer/songwriter lit up the country scene with his larger-than-life energy and message of radical positivity. Since then, he’s earned a passionate following, major TV performances, and praise from outlets like Holler and American Songwriter. With AMERICAN PALM Deluxe, arriving right before his headline AMERICAN PALM Tour, Niko expands his latest LP with
two new tracks, “BREATHE” and “BARE FEET IN THE SAND,” furthering his mission of creating music that feels like a“mental vacation” filled with sun-soaked serenity and coastal escape.

“Breathe is all about finding that place where you can take a deep breath and let your worries drift away,” says Niko. “I find peace by the water, and I wanted the song to be a mantra of positive self talk and a celebration of the coast.”

Niko partly grew up in Georgia, spending summers on Florida beaches, an influence that shapes the concept-driven AMERICAN PALM. Written during his THESE ARE THE NIGHTS tour with producer Danny Majic and songwriter David J, the record blends coastal sounds—ukuleles, nylon-string guitars, ocean waves—with organic beats and a touch of ‘90s hip-hop, nodding to his Atlanta roots. The result is a seaside getaway in album form, equal parts carefree, romantic,and life-affirming.

Tracks like “I LOVE THIS BEACH” and “YOU, ME & A BEACH” capture that spirit. The latter, a love song linking his wife and the beach as his grounding forces, helped cement the record as his first concept album. “SANDBAR” delivers a euphoric summer vibe, while “SANDCASTLES” reflects on life’s impermanence. “KING OF THE ISLAND” is a family
milestone—co-written and sung with his father, Cris Cowan.

Niko’s journey began early, inspired by his dad, a truck driver and drummer who introduced him to John Prine and Emmylou Harris. Niko picked up drums at eight, guitar at fifteen, and started playing in bars while working construction. A chance encounter with Zac Brown led to songwriting cuts like “Homegrown,” before Niko launched his solo career with “GOOD TIME,” a No. 1 hit on both Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts. From the start, he committed to making only positive music: “In a way a song is like a mantra, and I want mine to carry optimism and encouragement.”

Since his debut, Niko has sold out the Ryman, played major festivals like Stagecoach, and performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Cintura Interna is João Hã’s new release for Sucata Tapes, a work shaped by accident, drift, and unlikely connections. Its guiding notion comes from “Música Careca” (Bald Music) — a strange term apparently used by Jean Dubuffet to describe his own sound experiments. Dubuffet wasn’t a musician, but he was bald; the phrase lingers as an apt description for music that is naïve without innocence: amateur bruitism, soft sound, raw and direct, where intention is left exposed to errancy.
The piece itself came together without project or plan, eventually forming what Hã calls an “accidental Frankenstein” — or perhaps Frankenoise. Built from recordings made more than 15 years ago on cassette and obsolete equipment, mixed with more recent material, Cintura Interna bridges time and decay, refusing diaristic or documentary framing.
As an unexpected detour, the release also includes a version of the garage classic Louie Louie.

After a long hiatus relatively speaking("8" and "9" came out in April 2022) Prins Thomas drops his 10th studio album.

Picking up where the last record ended, it's an introspective but celebratory and uplifting affair. One-man-band jams
turning into mini epics, like coming up for air or seeing the bright lights at the end of a long dark tunnel.

Light in the Attic freut sich, Nancy Sinatras gleichnamiges Album von 1969 zu veröffentlichen. Diese neue Ausgabe und erste Vinyl-Neuauflage überhaupt von "Nancy" feiert eine der am wenigsten bekannten Phasen der verehrten Künstlerin. Nach drei Jahren im Rampenlicht und an der Spitze der Popmusik war Nancy Sinatra plötzlich in einer unerwarteten, aber irgendwie vertrauten Situation - ähnlich wie Anfang 1965. Sie war wieder einmal ohne Produzenten, ohne neue Songs und kämpfte darum, bei ihrem Label zu bleiben. Lee Hazlewood war Nancys Produzent und Duettpartner gewesen und hatte viele ihrer Hits geschrieben. Nach einer unglaublichen dreijährigen Erfolgsserie zog Lee plötzlich ohne Abschied nach Schweden. Nancy war überrascht und verletzt, aber sie machte weiter und entwickelte sich weiter. Sie fand einen Produzenten in ihrem langjährigen Arrangeur Billy Strange und entdeckte einen jungen Songwriter (und zukünftigen Superstar) namens Mac Davis, der ihr helfen würde, ihren Sound neu zu definieren. Dieses Album mit dem einfachen Titel ,Nancy" steht allein in ihrer Diskografie, versteckt zwischen ihren ikonischen Alben aus den 1960er Jahren und ihren funkigeren Werken aus den 1970er Jahren. Jede Vinyl-Ausgabe kommt in einer erweiterten Gatefold-Hülle (mit einem 12-seitigen Booklet), auf farbigem Vinyl und enthält eine Bonus-Flexi-Single mit dem bisher unveröffentlichten Titel "Longtime Woman (Early Alternate Version)", einem Outtake, das von Bob Elusive Butterfly Lind geschrieben wurde. Der Track mit dem atemberaubenden Gesang von Nancy und dem zarten Cembalo von Don Randi wurde von Lee Hazlewood während der Aufnahmen zum Album ,Nancy & Lee" im Jahr 1968 produziert.

Selfish Machines, the second album by Pierce the Veil, explores themes of love, longing, and self-awareness through a blend of post-hardcore energy and melodic intricacy. Beiblatt, Bierdeckel und DLC Im Jahr 2015 lieferte die Rockgruppe Die Buben im Pelz einen gewagten musikalischen Stunt ab: die Übertragung des hünenhaften rockgeschichtlichen Referenzalbums The Velvet Underground & Nico ins Wienerische Idiom. Ein mutiger Versuch, der mit einem heftigen Bauchklatscher und darauffolgender, noch schmerzhafterer Schadenfreude des Publikums hätte enden können. Aber nein, die Buben haben ihre Sache wirklich sehr, sehr gut gemacht und ihrerseits ein Referenzalbum der lokalen Wiener Rockmusik vorgelegt. So groß war die Freude über die gelungene Immigration von Lou Reeds New York ins heutige Wien, so anhaltend die Begeisterung für das Oeuvre des amerikanischen Meisters, dass 2023 auch dessen Album Transformer dem Regelbuch für große Coverbands entsprechend für das einheimische Publikum verwandelt wurde. Nun folgt mit dieser köstlich verpackten EP ein finaler Nachschlag, eine Erweiterung zum dreigängigen Menü sozusagen. Und ein mehr als gelungener Abschluss einer nahezu epischen Hommage an eine der wichtigsten Bands und einen der größten Songwriter der Rockgeschichte. Nun befinden wir uns in der letzten Runde: noch einmal VU/Reed, diesmal in Form einer Vinyl-EP. Vier Songs von Frauen, deren Leben irgendwann ins Nicht-ganz-so-Gute abgebogen ist. Vier menschliche Tragödien, zeitlos, poetisch, fundamental traurig mit einem kleinen Funken Hoffnung. Noch einmal Warhol, denn: was sollte man denn einem thematisch so stringenten Tonträger sonst für ein Cover schenken? Noch einmal Kulinarisches: die Campbells-Suppendose natürlich, neben der Banane ein weiteres weltberühmtes Tribut Warhols an das kulinarische Alltagsleben. Aber: wie übertragen wir das ins Wienerische? Eigentlich ganz einfach: indem wir uns aus dem Sortiment des Lokalmatadors, also der Firma Inzersdorfer, versorgen. Die Inzersdorfer-Konservendose, diese Ikone der österreichischen Konsumkultur und Lebensmittelindustriegeschichte ist ein mehr als geeigneter Ersatz für die amerikanische Tomatensuppe. Genauer gesagt: passt. Wie die Faust aufs Strizziauge. Köstlich! Der Grafikdesigner Peter Hirth hat zwei historische Inzersdorfer-Dosen zu einem wunderbar geschmacksintensiven Coversujet verarbeitet. In der Kunstdruckinstitution Quint Screen Print in 1230 Wien wurden daraus im händischen Siebdruck eine farbenprächtige Hommage an die seriellen Arbeiten Warhols aus den 1960er und -70er Jahren gefertigt. Farblich perfekt abgestimmt wurde dazu das Vinyl, klarerweise ebenfalls aus heimischer Produktion. Da haben die Fachleute bei in 8350 Fehring wieder einmal ganze Arbeit geleistet. Und der geschätzte Musikerkollege Austrofred wiederum hat zwischen zwei Festivalaufritten Zeit gefunden, über einem schönen Teller Gulaschsuppe meditierend einen Begleittext zu verfassen, der keine kulturhistorischen Fragen offen lässt. Weder in musikalischer noch in kulinarischer Hinsicht. Mahlzeit!

A love letter to the deep history of the dancefloor, the three-tracker begins with 'Scouse Kiss', where Chicago meets Liverpool as Discothèque Credits reimagine a hidden Lil’ Louis-inspired pop mix into the 12” club dub that never was. 'Dirty Talk' follows, transforming an Italo classic, often cited as the blueprint for New Order’s Blue Monday - into a stripped-back proto-house workout from Machine Disco, dripping with machine funk and looped 808 programming. Finally, 'Burnt' burns bright with acid-soaked sharpness – a hypnotic groove built for the deeper hours of the night.

Originally released in 2015, the album, hailed by the likes of Billboard and Rolling Stone as the best of his career upon its release, marked Mac Miller's first for a major label and was regaled as "one of the most musically appealing hip-hop LPs of the year" by The New York Times. "Writing became a daily routine," he explains, "and that was a ballast for me. Having spent so much time on the road over the past ten years, where writing consistently with any kind of flow can be tricky, it felt refreshing. And being in my studio, which is both isolated from and totally connected to the life of my family, felt appropriate for these songs." Between March and June, Taylor wrote and recorded upwards of two dozen songs_in most cases playing all of the instruments himself_before winnowing the collection down and bringing them to the Hiss band. In July, the group of musicians, with Taylor in the production seat, went into Overdub Lane in Durham, NC, for a week, where they recorded Quietly Blowing It as an organic unit honed to a fine edge from their years together on the road. "We all needed to be making that music together," he recalls. "We've all spent so many years traveling all over the world, but in that moment, it felt cathartic to be recording those particular songs with each other in our own small hometown."

It's been 10 years since Pomegranates - Nicolás Jaar's unofficial/alternative soundtrack to Sergei Parajanov's 1969 film The Color of Pomegranates - was first released, and to highlight this occasion we are reissuing the album on vinyl, with the first edition (a collaboration with the label Mana) having long been out of print.

Longer and slower-releasing than his other albums, Pomegranates often parallels the cinematic epic on which it’s based, with ideas pursued over long timelines and across dark landscapes, assembling elements and moods from the aesthetic and folkloric landscapes of Armenia. Jaar’s identity is perceived within this, folding in his heritage as Palestinian and Chilean as he attempts to build a musical architecture outwards that frames as much of the mess and sprawl of life as possible; using a language that investigates the movement and fluctuation of his own artistic career and character similarly to the film’s tracing of the coming of age of the young poet, Sayat-Nova.

At times, Pomegranates feels profoundly intimate, as though looking through the archive of a friend’s music and discovering the accent and common currency that lives within each of these tracks. Much of Jaar’s most elegant and touching melodic work is nestled here, its power residing in its simplicity and willingness to speak to the heart and not the mind of the listener.

In the text document included in the first freely distributed version of the album in 2015, Jaar writes that the album was conceived during a moment of change, and that the pomegranate became an icon that heralded that passage of time. The physical publication of Pomegranates closes one door whilst opening another, keeping promises and marking a significant point in the career of an artist who restlessly reinvents himself, with a document that illustrates a common language of lyricism, freedom, and emotional resonance linking his many paths and projects

The inimitable Richard Youngs returns to Black Truffle with this third full-length for the label, Hidden. Like CXXI and Modern Sorrow, Hidden unfolds across two side-long pieces at once eminently listenable and possessed of the ‘bloody-minded’ dedication to ‘having an idea and sticking with it’ that Youngs himself has identified as one of the key qualities of his work.

At the core of both pieces are rapid, randomised arpeggios generated with a Moog Grandmother, hypnotic patterns that wouldn’t be out of place on a Berlin School classic. Alongside these arpeggios, across the seventeen minutes of the first side-long piece Youngs builds an airy structure of shakers, synthetic handclaps and a brief, repeated sample, impossible to identify but sounding like a glitched foghorn. Over the top we hear his unmistakable voice, repeating single syllables—Ha, Ho—with a slow delay, something like a lonely one-man-band take on Anthony Moore’s Pieces from the Cloudland Ballroom or a more musical elaboration of the hypnotically overlapping delayed phonemes of Anton Bruhin’s Rotomotor. Like much of Youngs' work, the arrangement of sounds is sparse, each layer punctuated by spaces that allow others to shine through, in a way that seems to have more to do with dub or early hip-hop than high-brow models of musical reductionism.

On the flipside, the arpeggios return, now accompanied by ringing, filtered guitar chords and long flute tones. The use of a similar ground layer across the two pieces with strikingly different overdubs calls up Youngs' first solo record, the classic Advent, reminding us of how consistent ‘theme and variations’ is as an approach in his enormous body of work. Joined by handclaps and a chiming sound, the piece almost feels like it is about to achieve dance-floor lift-off at times, only for the percussion to disappear and leave the listener once again floating among the guitar and flute, now joined by occasional cut-off vocal snippets, like a radio turned quickly on and off. The suspension of these disparate elements over the steady foundation of the Moog arpeggios might remind some listeners of the free-form studio explorations of Moebius & Plank and Holger Czukay or even give a nod to Youngs’ formative encounter with Cabaret Voltaire.

Like some of Youngs’ much-loved work with Simon Wickham-Smith, Hidden approaches relatively familiar sounds and instruments from skewed angles, delighting in loose structures of interaction that border on gleeful incoherence while remaining outwardly beautiful. Coming up to almost four decades of persistent activity, like little else in contemporary music Youngs’ work beams with the simple joys of exploration and experiment.
