Over three years in the making, Needle Mythology Records is delighted to announce a super deluxe, expanded remastered reissue of The Lilac Time’s 1991 masterpiece, Astronauts. Released as a triple vinyl, triple CD or single vinyl, only 1000 copies of each format will be produced, there will be no further pressings. Both the 3LP and 3CD editions will come with an extensive 11,000 word oral history of Astronauts and liner notes by Needle Mythology co-founder and longtime Stephen Duffy fan, Pete Paphides.

All three albums including a 2024 remaster, a collection of works in progress entitled‘Softened By Rain The Making Of Astronauts’ and a live compilation ‘Any Road Up The Lilac Time Live 1990/91’ have been mastered for vinyl by Miles Showell at Abbey Roadand will be housed in a triple gatefold sleeve with a colour inner sleeve and new artwork for each disc, which has been especially created by designer Mike Storey. The main sleeve for Astronauts itself will replicate the original artwork but with the four distinctive “blobs” rendered in a red “foil” texture. In addition to these three disc sets, 1000 single vinyl remastered copies of Astronauts will also be made available, in a cherry red vinyl edition to match the outer sleeve.

With the shoegaze and baggy movements at their zenith, The Lilac Time’s fourth album was released at a moment when the left-field music zeitgeist was shaped by the nascent shoegaze, baggy and grunge movements. Whilst Astronauts conformed to none of those trends, neither was it the record Stephen had in his head when he finally finished working on it. We’ll never know how that record would have sounded, but it’s hard to imagine a better version of the album he did end up making. The songwriter who brought ‘A Taste of Honey’ and ‘Hats Off, Here Comes The Girl’ into the world envisaged the sort of choruses that would jump from the single speaker of your favourite transistor and lodge themselves into the collective memory bank.

But while he really was writing some of his most beautiful melodies, Astronauts is a family of songs that demands to be kept together in the sundazed cloud of inspiration that created it. It constitutes a partial retreat from the outwardfacing utopianism of its predecessors, choosing instead to dwell on the journey taken to get to this point. That this is an audibly different band to the pastoral expeditionaries of the group’s previous releases is almost entirely down to the departure of Nick Duffy and the arrival of Sagat Guirey. Suddenly, accordions, banjos and mandolins are out; jazz guitar is in. Sagat’s filigree work on the outro of ‘A Taste for Honey’ acts as a sublime parting shot to a lyric which acts as a wiser, wistful companion piece to Stephen’s 1985 solo hit ‘Kiss Me’, something tantamount to the camera retreating to reveal the years elapsed between the time depicted and the present day. The distance between the carefree youth of pop stardom and the first intimations of mortality can be measured between the first and second verses of the quietly devastating ‘Madresfield’; from the depiction of the deserted cricket pavilion obscured by fresh snowfall to the sudden shift in perspective from subject to protagonist: ‘No one ever told me/That killing time is harmful/For time cannot recover/What soon the ground will offer.’ For all of that, however, the resulting album didn’t correspond to the vision its creator had for it. At a loss as to what to do with it, Stephen surrendered Astronauts to Creation with no plans to promote or draw attention to it. The consciousness shift of which Stephen had hoped The Lilac Time might be a precursor hadn’t happened. Or, rather, it had – but it had happened elsewhere, in the Haçienda and Shoom and in Ibiza. Repress! It's safe to say that hip-hop has never seen an album like Ol’ Dirty Bastard's 1995 solo debut Return to the 36 Chambers. The brief glimpses of ODB's unhinged genius provided by Wu-Tang Clan's landmark Enter the Wu-Tang album two years earlier were begging to be expanded on to a larger canvas, and, with RZA guiding production, the album promised to give Dirty the creative license to make one of the most bizarre, entertaining and original LPs in hip-hop history. The comeback of the Milanese band Alphataurus can only have the status of a big event among fans of Italian progressive rock, thanks mainly to the indelible mark left several decades ago with their 1973 eponymous masterpiece. Dropping in November of 1999 the record hit the Top 10 on US album charts and was certified gold by the RIAA within a month. For the 25th anniversary of this landmark recording Get On Down presents Immobilarity as a double LP in a never to be repeated gold vinyl run housed in a gatefold jacket with lyrics included and topped off with a collectable OBI.

Solely influenced by the mighty Agathocles, Hambone was determined to keep the spirit of true Mincecore alive (encompassing everything from their relentless release schedule to their uncompromising political agenda speaking out against misogyny, sexism and homophobia in the scene) while adding his own style of gore infused vocals into the mix. Coming from a purely crust and punk background, Hambone has taken a strictly DIY approach with Haggus since inception. With a tireless work ethic, the band dropped close to 100 songs within the first 6 months of existence followed by self-releasing over 60 splits, 10 EPs and 3 full length albums while touring over 20 countries since 2014. If you feel like motoring down the highway at 100 miles per hour breathing in pure rock n roll exhaust then look no further– Rowdy is here to kick out the jams and rev up with their self-titled debut LP Rowdy! These seasoned rockers are dealing out a heavy dose of song-forward classic garage punk that sounds like a mixed bag of Joan Jett singing for Teengenerate and Roky Erikson and The Aliens covering Oblivions. After the reissues of The Beloved’s indie–facing compilation of early singles Where It Is and their first studio album Happiness, next up is their second studio album, Conscience.

Conscience was originally released in 1993, reaching no.2 in the UK album chart hitting 100,000 selling BPI Gold status. It contains their biggest hit to date, the BPI Silver disc awarded Sweet Harmony, a top 10 in the UK and across Europe. Other singles include double A-side of Celebrate Your Life and You've Got Me Thinking, Outerspace Girl, which both hit the UK top 40 and Rock To The Rhythm Of Love, which was released in the United States only.

Available as a 180g heavyweight double vinyl package for the first time, Conscience has been remastered from the original analogue studio masters (by John Davis at Metropolis Studios) boasting louder and clearer audio than the original release. Amorphic & Tensal join James Ruskin's Blueprint Records family with their "Distant Landscapes EP" this November, which closes out the label's 2024 catalogue.

Amorphic is the pseudonym of Scottish artist Vince Watson, aimed at exploring more raw and hypnotic signatures. Launched in 2022, Amorphic has featured on labels like Token, Symbolism and Modularz as well as Vince's self-formed labels Amorphic and Morph. With almost 30 years in the industry, Vince has released over 1000 tracks, which has allowed him to work and gig with some of the very best. He now teams up with Spanish artist Tensal for this new EP.

Tensal is the alias of Héctor Sandoval (who is also one half of Exium, Komatssu and Selección Natural), created togive space to his more cyclical and modern vision of Techno in which he combines different rhythms and textures. After a handful of works released on his own label, he has recorded for the likes of Mord, Modularz, Arcing Seas, Warm Up, Perc Trax, Cabrera, Polegroup (of which he is a founding member) and Soma, where he released his first LP in 2018.

Together they've drawn on their individual skills to deliver 4 deep and driving Techno cuts that perfectly fit James Ruskin's influential label.

Originally released in 2023 via a humble run of 100 cassette tapes, c-thruʼs debut album “The Otherworld” is now available on black vinyl with a full colour jacket designed by Vancouver based illustrator Tylor Macmillan.

C-thru - The Otherworld is a collection of introspective cosmic-leaning dance music that gives a healthy nod to the golden era of trance, ambient, and downtempo from Austin, Texas-based producer Jesse Edwards. Inactive for several years, these 10 tracks mark a new chapter for Jesse Edwards. Previous works include his well-received psychedelic project, Red Morning Chorus, that included Boards of Canada amongst its fans. Edwards began his musical journey in the late 90s playing shoegaze and experimental music with Jessica Bailiff (Kranky). The pair collaborated on several albums together, including works with Flying Saucer Attack, His Name is Alive, and Odd Nosdam (Anticon).

Initially coming from the DIY hardcore scene, Coilguns have since then crafted their very own blend of punk and ecstatic noise-rock. The history of the band is deeply bound to the development of guitarist Jona Nido’s own label – Humus Records – that now gathers up to 150 releases from Swiss artists of all sonic horizons.

Though their last two albums were 100% self-produced, engineered and mixed by the band members, Coilguns drove in the summer of 2022 to end-of-the-world’s Oceansound Recordings in Norway with producer Scott Evans to track their 4th studio album which was then mixed by grammy nominated producer Tom Dalgety.

The band is known for its raw, uncompromising and euphoric live performances, proudly serving the dancing freaks and the crowd-surfing weirdos.

This record is different. It is different from what might be expected of Jan Emil Mlynarski by those who know him, from sold-out shows and platinum albums of his bands – Jazz Band Młynarski – Masecki and Warsaw Dance Combo, as an old-timer, curator and reenactor of pre-World War II Warsaw's plush dancehalls and backyards folklore. Quite likely they may not recognize him until the last song, when he removes his shaman mask and bows down: Yeah, that's really me, folks, your good ol' Jan Emil, the entertainer. They might not have even known that he ever played drums because in his flagship bands, clad in a white tux in the former or in a Peaky Blinder hat in the latter, he sings and plays mandolin banjo. In fact, Młynarski has been a drummer for a lot longer than a singer. He stands clear of the jazz mainstream but is active on the progressive scene. A record he contributed to, trumpeter Tomasz Dąbrowski's 2022 release The Individual Beings, was recognized by Downbeat magazine as "excellent" and awarded the highest rating of five stars.

However, this is the first instrumental record to bear his name. As an album by a drummer, it stands out from other records, especially as it features drums as the principal content rather than the performance by a band with a drummer as the leader. It's all about drums, there is neither an articulate melody – because the melodies that are there are only micro-linesencased in ostinato modules – nor is harmony as an intentional chord progression – because whatever harmony-wise there is, is rather a product of the counterpoint of overlapping voices. All sounds other than the drums make only a riverbed through which runs a raging stream of rhythms. And indeed, this record took off just with this stream. At first all the drums were recorded live onto an analog tape, all at once, without overdubs or editing. After that, synthesizer riffs were added, and the record was ultimately assembled on tape without the use of computers or complex postproduction, which sets it apart from most releases today.

Młynarski the drummer acknowledges that he follows the trail beaten by Art Blakey, Max Roach, Roy Haynes, and Billy Higgins, but he walks it in his own strides. He treats the jazz drumming with specific reversed engineering by decompiling the jazz drum kit originally compiled by the pioneer jazz drummers from an array of instruments that had made their way from a jungle to New Orleans, first to Congo Square and then to street brass bands.

This takes him back to the jungle, his drums don't sound like jazz drums, the snare is rare, and the hi-hat and ride aren't there at all. Instead, there are drums and bells from Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Côte d'Ivoire. He doesn't sound like a jazz drummer either, but like a gang of drummers, each playing their own rhythm, and it's hard to believe that all this is the work of one man.

Not only his drumware comes from the jungle, but also the software – his approach to rhythm and time. Its essence is polyrhythm and ostinato. The polyrhythmic matters were unveiled to Młynarski and Piotr Zabrodzki, his creative partner in many projects and co-composer/producer of this album, by the legendary eccentric veteran-drummer Władysław Jagiełło, who introduced them, aged thirteen, to his concept and practice of "17 Latino rhythms at once". Ostinato, an obstinate repetition of a phrase or rhythm, "arrests" time, turning its linear course into cyclical in-place rotations. This is specific not only to African music but also to cultural music of other regions and differs from Western artistic music in that it does not "run" to fulfil an aesthetic intention but "stays" to provide the framework for recurrent routines of communal proceedings.

So, this record is different. And, if you are different too, this is the record for you.

"Black Stone Cherry’s third album Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea offers another amount of fully loaded southern rock this bands well known for. "Folklore and Superstition is the second album by American band Black Stone Cherry. The album charted in several lists and peaked in the US Billboard 200 at place 28. Black Stone Cherry's sound still owes as much to Alice in Chains as it does to Molly Hatchet or Lynyrd Skynyrd. The production for this one was in the capable hands of Bob Marlette (Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Lynyrd Skynyrd o.a.).

Two Lights is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Five for Fighting. The album is released in 2006 and includes the singles "Two Lights" and "The Riddle". The album peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart, making it Five for Fighting's highest-charting album to date. It has sold over 287,000 copies in the United States as of November 2009. Two Lights is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on crystal clear vinyl and includes a renewed insert with lyrics.

"The Millennium Bell is the 20th record album by Mike Oldfield, originally released in 1999. The theme of the album is a reflection of different periods of human history. The album borrows its name from the dawning of the 3rd millennium and Oldfield's Tubular Bells series of albums. The Millennium performance of the latter half of the album plus some older tracks was given in Berlin, Germany on New Year's Eve 1999, with an estimated audience of 500,000 people.

Oldfield recorded the majority of the album at his home studio, Roughwood Studios, Berkshire, and then recorded the orchestrations in just one day at Abbey Road Studios, London with the London Session Orchestra. It was Oldfield's third album within one year, after Tubular Bells III in late 1998 and Guitars MOVLP1694 earlier in 1999. The album is eclectic in style, ranging from majestic choruses and soundtrack-esque orchestral passages through New Age sonic textures and ethnic sounds to strong pulse of electronic percussion. "Between Two Fires is an album by English singer Paul Young. It was originally released in 1986 and peaked at #4 on the UK Albums Chart. The album, featuring a combination of cover versions with original songs written by Young and Ian Kewley, went on to achieve Platinum certification. It features the singles ""Wonderland"", ""Why Does A Man Have To Be Strong"", and ""Some People"" amongst others. In 2007, an expanded edition of the album was released on CD. This vinyl release of Between Two Fires presents this expanded edition for the very first time available on vinyl, including 7 bonus tracks containing 12"" mixes and B-sides. 'I was honoured to be asked to remix Dance Factor for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Roy AKA Ellis Dee was the first person in the Rave scene I met and he made the time to encourage me and believe in me and he became one of the most important DJs in the scene. Secondly, it was literally my first ever remix out of about 100. It’s a bit crazy, but back then, things were pretty crazy. I even had hair!'
